TOS Characters in a Theater Production:
Kirk: The Lead™️. Advocates for including a staged fight scene in every production he does. Gets a romance scene instead. Cries the hardest on closing night.
McCoy: The Stage Manager. Is trying his hardest not to tear his hair out. Failing. Is never scene without a mug of probably coffee or possibly vodka. Will yell at you about it but always has band-aids if you need one.
Spock: The Assistant Director. Not afraid to put you in your place. No one can tell if he's enjoying it or not. Techies and actors alike fear his snark. Yells at you for sneaking snacks in the dressing room.
Uhura: The Female Lead. This badass queen is getting shit done. Outperforms her counterpart. Her monologues make you sob ugly tears and oh my god, when she gets a singing role. Every director's dream, except when she sneaks snacks into the dressing room.
Chekov: The Techie. Just trying to get stuff done. Nothing is actually finished til 3 am the night before. Has your lost prop. Might've been the one to lose it in the first place. Writes dirty messages on the mirrors.
Sulu: The background character. Slays so, so hard. Chronically underappreciated. Gets the most laughs or tears, despite only having 5 lines.
Scotty: Running the lights and/or the sound booth. Is the thread holding the production together. Doesn't sleep during tech week.

just a lil thing I thought of talking to @slimegirl-selkie

The Party hadn't seen the light of day in days, hell it might even have been a week since the 3 of them and their pet monster, Ze, had descended into the caverns beneath the citadel. At first, the going was easy; their packs were full and their bodies well-rested. Now, they weren't so sure they'd see the sun again.
The caves weren't cold at first. Warmth from the buildings above had seeped into them, but after an hour or two descending into the system the radiating heat faded and the party realized they were going to be facing something they were not prepared for.
The first day, the narrow caves threatened to press Kirkland til he popped.
The second, heat dissipated and the cold set in.
On the third day, Ariana started speculating:
"Wh-what if i-its a white dra-dragonn?"
"No."
"What?! Kirk, how could you possibly know that"
"Dragons like that wouldn't tolerate being stuck under the citadel. Dragons don't like the citadel, it used to be one of the safest fortresses from them in its heyday. Until the guards-" He shot Merrith a look. "-killed all the dragons in the mountains around the citadel. Now, I don't think a lone dragon would strike back."
"It's not like I killed them."
Kirkland grunted. He was big and kind, built a grizzly bear, but acted like a Teddy Bear. Ze perched on his shoulder, a little ball of green Ooze curled up against his neck. Merrith wondered how he got over the feeling of the slime, rolling down the front and back of his shoulders and even morphing entirely around parts of him sometimes.
Merrith shivered. She hadn't been this cold since her winters at the Sorrengard Military Academy, all the way to the north of the continent. She thought she'd never be that cold again when she moved to the Southern Empire, but here she was, freezing in a cave in the middle of the hottest summer she had ever endured.
"W-we should huddle t-together f-f-for warmth"
"Buck up Merrith, we'll find the beast that's been murdering people in the citadel and slay it any minute now"
Merrith loved that about Kirkland. He never let his worry show. No matter how helpless he felt, he always had the confidence that was supposedly expected of her as one of the guards at the citadel. Maybe it was because Ze was so small that he always had to be brave for it, but Merrith somehow knew that even without Ze, Kirkland's attitude wouldn't be much different. After all, Ze wasn't the first monster he'd adopted knowing full well that one day it would outgrow his ability to care for it. There was one of those invisible panther things before Ze and something about its passing made Merrith think it wasn't the first either.
"I'm sure you would like to cuddle with big, strong Kirk" Ariane teased.
Merrith hated that about the petite girl. Everything was about love with her. She was always scared. Ariane, if Merrith was allowed an opinion (and she always allowed herself an opinion) did not belong on this adventure, she belonged in a temple, healing and repairing humanity's connection with the Gods.
On the fourth day in the caves, the group stopped in front of a wall of frozen blue goop. Kirkland crouched by it and took out one of his mallets. Merrith could never tell them apart in battle but as Kirkland raised it and smashed the frozen substance, she noticed the runes carved into the handle and recognized the mallet as Chisel, Kirkland's right-hand mallet.
"Well, I think I know what we're dealing with, even if i've never seen or heard of one before"

that's part 1 I guess. I don't wanna rush the ending and need to establish the characters so part 2 may be soon, I'll try to attach it here somehow when I do post it, but I'm not sure how I do that.

SIIIGH it is star trek update time. last night we watched tng's "preemptive strike" and ds9's "the collaborator."
preemptive strike (tng):
well well well, if it isn't picard racially profiling more bajoran women. because that went SO well for him last time
yes it was also because of her "training" or whatever but like. it was because she was bajoran
rough time w this episode because picard was being awful to ro the whole time and it's so clear she loves him and cares about his opinion SO MUCH! but ro herself was amazing. i literally was cheering for her to defect the entire time and she finally did and i was SO HAPPY girl get her off that spaceship
on the other hand, it sucks that all her life is about the cardassians. she either is oppressed by them or fights them and she doesn't ever really get to break free of that ever. i guess it's better than serving under picard but :/
i looked up why she wears her earring on the other side and apparently it's to keep vedeks from feeling her pagh ie she's an atheist. queen.
did NOT like the section where she and picard had to pretend to be making out. her also fr making out with that other rando was gross. like, they put her in this situation, and she immediately has to pull a captain kirk and start using her body/sex as a tool in her arsenal.
icing on the shit cake is sending riker out with her to make sure she stays loyal when riker was the most skeptical of her at first and even made her TAKE OFF HER EARRING. he calmed down eventually and he was really nice to her here (and his outfit did slay) but that's still adding insult to injury

the emotional rollercoaster this one sent me on.
i hate vedek winn with a passion reserved for people who hate fictional characters because they've known people exactly like that in real life. the way she's like no i am nice and kind YOU are the mean evil one for always being so angry :) makes me homicidal. every religious south carolinian ever. so initially i was like "bitch shut up we all know youre framing his ass"
EVEN THOUGH I ALSO DON'T LIKE. BAREIL. it's a tough life i lead
i thought kira's orb vision where they were naked together was REALLY creepy*, and i was extremely disgusted when they fucked in whatever episode that was, so him and her fucking for a good section was like. gross.
*possibly this vision was supposed to be sexy instead, but i never stopped seeing him as slightly predatory after this
anyway, then i was like, i don't want winn to be kai because she sucks so bad, but it would be cool if he did it because then he and kira will break up! and kira can get back to having no romance whatsoever with odo until like season one million, but i'm a patient woman and i can wait.
IMAGINE MY SHOCK when kira was like talking about her problems to odo, who had alerted her to the prisoner being moved JUST as a consideration, and was doing all these data lookups for her JUST to be nice, and she goes "i love him" and his approximation of a head snaps up like it's on an approximation of a string
LIKE. HELLO??? WE'RE ONLY IN SEASON 2????? i got the impression they didn't get together until WAY late in the show and this is pretty direct confirmation that despite his very loudly objecting to the idea of romance in general he is ALREADY CARRYING THE TORCH........perhaps has been for some time?? me pointing to the ds9 soup hey is there PINING in this?????
i really hope kira/odo is good when it happens. i'll be so sad if it happens but it's bad. in my mind palace it's amazing. not that i don't love odo and quark, but quark has yet to connect with my psyche on a deeper level and odo and kira live in there rent free with sisko and julian bashir.
anyway, the plot twist about kai opaka was really REALLY good an unexpected, kira was FANTASTIC in this ep, and of course i'm insane about odo pining, but ultimately this is a bust bc we got the absolute worst of both worlds: winn is kai, AND kira and bareil don't break up. i was LIVID.
i then looked up to see when/if winn and bareil die and was relieved to discover he dies soon but she lives until the finale 😒 fuck offffff
TONIGHT: the SERIES FINALE of tng!!!! our suffering is almost over.......

okay i know i did joke and jest: however, to summarise i didnt find star trek v nearly as egregious as people said it was. ultimately i found it had its funny moments and was a bit of a mess but i had my fun. itd be wrong to say its a ~good~ movie but frankly the way people went on about it you'd think it was some utter disgrace
all that being said: seeing kirk now, even in this opening scene, speak with conviction against the klingons is refreshing as hell after it. like- shatner super obviously did write tff . you can tell with how kirk is just kind of there doing insane shit and saying heroic crap throughout the movie. literally every obstacle is solved with him doing something ridiculous to save the day. its funny as hell BUT now its like ok now we have an actual character back with us god bless, god speed
speaking of i do like the choice to have him oppose this so vehemently for that reason + addressing the more difficult issue of the klingons since, well... as seen in the LAST movie they just sort of laugh them off. LOL

“The hurt/comfort syndrome is attractive in another way, especially in heroic ST fiction. lt deals with the dichotomy between strength and vulnerability, two sides of the same coin. Each of the ST characters are unusually strong people, yet they are flesh and blood beings, and vulnerable to suffering.
“One can be an ersatz hero in a ”get-em” story. There are few opportunities for personal heroism in our own century. Therefore the qualities we’d like to exhibit — courage, loyalty, integrity, intelligence — are personified by McCoy, Kirk, Spock and cohorts. The reader, vicariously sharing their adventures and perils, also feels heroic. In this way, we can gain the self esteem and fulfillment of heroism without taking personal risks or facing actual danger. This is escape in one of its simplest forms.

Vidar is one of the many Aesir gods venerated by the Vikings, but little knowledge has come down to us about him. However, although he is obscure today, he seems to have been an important deity in the Norse pantheon.
One of the many sons of Odin the Allfather, Vidar was known by several kennings. He was Vidar the silent, the possessor of the iron shoe, the enemy and slayer of Fenrir, the avenger, and he who inhabits the homestead of his father.
These kennings offer an interesting glimpse of the character and importance of Vidar. Today’s we will dig into exactly what we know about this Viking god.
Vidar’s Lineage
Vidar was one of the many sons of Odin, very few of which the chief of the Aesir gods produced with his wife Frigg.
Balder the beautiful, destined to be slain by Loki and therefore put the events that will result in Ragnarok into motion, is the only son that we know Odin had with Frigg.
Thor is the son of Odin with the goddess Jord, who is also considered the embodiment of the earth itself.

Vidar is the son of Odin with the giantess Gridr. Very little is known about her, but her name means vehemence of violence.
She also features in the Prose Edda where she helps Thor on his journey to the land of the giant Geirrodr. She tells Thor about Geirrodr to help prepare him for the encounter and she also gives him her belt of strength Megingjord, iron gloves Jarngreipr, and her staff Gridarvol. These later became attributes of Thor.
Vengeance Vidar’s name means “widely ruling”, but this does not seem to be closely linked with the powers with which he was associated.
He is described as a warrior god and an excellent fighter. It is said that only Thor had greater strength than Vidar.
But unlike Thor, who seems to have been quite boastful, Vidar is known as the silent god.
This is thought to reflect the connection between Vidar and vengeance. It may simply reflect the fact that vengeance is a quitter kind of violence, or it may specifically reflect rituals associated with revenge combat. It is thought that rituals before this type of fight may have involved remaining silent, perhaps as a form of cleansing.
The Vikings believed that a man offended had the right to challenge another man to a duel, called holmgang. In theory, you could challenge anyone, regardless of social status, and it would bring great shame to refuse.
When making offerings to Vidar, the Vikings suggested burying a weapon in cold water or ice. This may again associate with vengeance, and the idea of it being a cold form of violence.
As well as these icy places, Vidar was associated with wilderness. His hall is described as a place where brushwood grows and the grass is high. He is also described in one source as being happiest in nature.
But Vidar was also known as the god of the thick shoes. It is said that he was constantly adding to his shoes with pieces of leather. Shoemakers were always encouraged to dedicate off cuts of leather left over when making their shoes to Vidar.
But the association between Vidar and shoes has little to do with the art of shoemaking.
Ragnarok
Vidar’s association with shoes and with vengeance primarily stems from the role it is prophesized that he will play in the Ragnarok apocalypse.
According to the prophecy, many of the gods will die in the great battle that ensues between the forces of Loki and the giants and the forces of Odin and the Aesir.
Odin himself is predicted to be killed by the mighty wolf Fenrir, a son of Loki. The gods so feared Fenrir that they tricked him so that they could chain him up on a deserted island where he could do no harm. They also wedged a sword in his mouth, locking it open.
The events leading up to Ragnarok will allow the great and powerful wolf to break his shackles. He will then run through the nine worlds of the Norse cosmos, devouring everything before him in his huge open mouth.
Finally, Fenrir will devour Odin himself.
But Vidar is destined to avenge the death of Odin. His thick shoes, which are probably also enchanted, will allow him to stamp down on the lower jaw of Fenrir. Continuing to hold Fenrir’s mouth open with his mighty strength, he will drive his sword down Fenrir’s throat and into his heart, killing him.
Rebuilding We have already seen the sources of most of Vidar’s kennings.
He is Vidar the silent because of his association with revenge, he possesses iron shoes that will allow him to battle Fenrir, which is also why he is called the enemy and slayer of Fenrir. He is also the avenger because he avenges the death of Odin. But why is Vidar also described as occupying the homestead of his father?
This may relate to the events that are prophesized to happen after Ragnarok.
According to the Ragnarok myth, Sutr, the fire giant, will set the world of fire with his burning sword, and that air will be poisoned by the venom of Jormungandr, who will slay and be slain by Thor. After this, the world will sink into the water.
Many accounts end there, with the end of all things.
However, some accounts suggest that the world will re-emerge from the water, and that some of the gods will survive to rebuild.
Among the surviving gods are said to be Vidar, and also Vali, another son of Odin, this time with the giantess Rindr.
It is said that they will meet in Ithavoll, a field near Asgard that survives the destruction, and there they will forge a new world, starting with shrines and temples.
So, perhaps this kenning for Vidar suggests that he will take the place of his father as the leader of the Aesir gods, therefore occupying his homestead.
Importance
While Vidar was clearly nowhere near as popular as Odin and Thor, as we do not see the same surviving dedications to him, he was clearly an important deity for the Vikings.
He is described in the Skaldskparmal, which describes the Aesir visiting Aegir to feast, as among the twelve presiding male deities at the banquet. He is also briefly mentioned as being present at the banquet described in the Lokesena, where Loki complains that he has not been invited to the feast, and then goes on to insult all of the Aesir gods.
When Odin gives in and says that Loki should stay, he tells Vidar to pour the giant a drink, which Vidar does.
Beyond mythology, Vidar may also appear in some surviving artworks.
The Gosforth cross surviving from northern England and the Kirk Andreas Cross surviving from the Isle and Man, both of which date from around 900, appear to show Vidar standing in the mouth of Fenrir, sword raised to slay him.
It is argued that these may actually be images of Christ slaying a wolf, but even if this is the case, then the story is probably inspired by the story of Vidar.
At least two Scandinavian places are named for Vidar. Virsu, from Vidarshof, which means temple of Vidar, and Viskjol, from Vidarsskjalf, which means pinnacle of Vidar. All of this suggests that Vidar had some importance among the Vikings. This is further reinforced by the 13th-century Icelandic chronicler Snorri Sturluson, who compares Vidar to Aeneas, the Trojan hero that survived the Trojan war and went on to found Rome.

my fav part of this ep besides the spock mentions of course was the fact that the romulan commander deanna was up against seemed like a genuinely good person who had been hurt by the empire. like deanna was very much the bad guy here. imagine if some starfleet bigwig took kirk's ship away and used it to kill 18 people, you know? the outside pov vibe was kind of a slay actually
kind of a bummer to do all this angsting about romulus and helping the defectors and everything when quite literally it's gonna blow up in like...what, less than 20 years now, right? yeah. i mean if a romulan had a baby right now that baby wouldn't even live to be old enough to drink. obviously they had no idea when they were making all this but it's THAT VERY FACT that kind of makes me fucking nuts. please smuggle more people out of there. get them out now while you can. but they don't know. and it's not dramatic irony that they don't know like in real life nobody making this KNOWS. Halloween Party (Guests)
So in the last headcanon post I talked about our crew on the nights they had to work the Halloween Party
But on the nights they don't have to work the Party (and they feel up for it) they enjoy going as guests
First things first: costumes
(I could go lazy route and just say oh they go as Queen one year - even though they absolutely do - but mod wants to actually try)
It’s an unspoken rule that they'll never go as a character they play while working
Group costumes are their favorites to do
One year the whole group goes as Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy
Another year they do group Hogwarts houses
They've also gone as the Addams Family one year
Before getting together with Rami, Lucy absolutely goes as Alice one year
But once they do get together Rami and Lucy absolutely do a couple's costume of Anastasia and Dimitry (plenty of jokes about them being traitors follow that decision)
They also go as Gomez and Morticia the head they went as Addams Family as a group and absolutely killed it
Ben and Joe absolutely do Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable one year and it was amazing. Joe even got a red wig for the costume (that dedication tho)
Ben and Allen team up for Tweddle Dee and Tweedle Dum one year
Priya is the best Princess Mia that there's ever been
For the most part they'll do cute photoshoots around the park in costume because of course Ben bright his camera
But Joe will always drag the group to at least two of the trick or treat trails around the park for candy
Lucy loves watching the Cadaver Dans on the Rivers of America when they go by
The firework show and parade are an absolute must with this group
They try to ride Haunted Mansion during the party, but if not it's not a big deal (they just love getting to ride it in full costume)
It's also a tradition for the last ride of the night to be Splash Mountain. No one remembers how this tradition starts but it's either Joe or Ben who came up with the idea and no one really fought them on it. So every time they get to be guests to the Halloween Party they always leave around midnight either kind of wet or soaked as they go back to their apartments

If Y/N and Joe are dating they end up going as Judy and Nick from Zootopia or Launchpad and Della from Ducktales
If Y/N and Ben are dating they kill it as Max and Roxanne from A Goofy Movie or Troy and Gabriella from High School Musical

*SPOILERS* Star Trek Discovery Season 2, episode 1: Brother*SPOILERS*
Hello guys! Yes, I am indeed still alive. I apologize for not having posted in a long, long time. How long has it been? A year? It’s been rough and just an all round bitch. But, we’re not going to dwell on that any more. As it is customary for my blog and since Star Trek: Disco has just premiered season 2, I am going to be posting reviews again. As I have mentioned up above, SPOILERS UP AHEAD!
Star Trek Discovery, oh, how I have missed you! My God, tonight’s episode was so good! Ahhhhhhhhh
-I SQUEALED WHEN THE ENTERPRISE CAME ON SCREEN!!!!!! NOT EVEN ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT.
-TILLY MY SWEET, PRECIOUS BABY! I LOVE HER! Some of her best moments, tonight. “Math Rules!” “Comms!” Tilly rambling for 5 minutes straight while the bridge crew watches on, highly amused! Her whole “it’s funny saying pinky to a Captain” moment! Oh, the pinky scene was hilarious! “I don’t want you to go.” :(
-Paul Stamets. God. Damn. You. I love him. I do. But seeing him suffer KILLS. ME. So, here’s what I’m gonna say. GIVE. PAUL. HIS. HUGH BACK.
GIVE US OUR SPACE HUSBANDS BACK!
Also, how dare you, Star Trek disco writers? Who the hell gave you the right to play with my emotions like that? Stamets was listening to opera and he gets it now! I stg I almost cried.
After seeing him so sad at the start of the episode, seeing him light up when Tilly brought in a FREAKING ASTEROID on board the Discovery was EVERYTHING. He needs to be happy!
-Saru is so amazing. I love how sassy he is! Oh my Lord! Ya know the scene when he felt someone’s death coming? And the guy on the bridge just stared at him and he was like “Are you really surprised?” LMAO
-Pike. I love Christopher Pike. I always have. He is so much like Jim Kirk in this, it’s unbelievable. So reckless and would do anything for his crew. He went on the rescue mission. He also tried to find a solution that would defy all odds. We all know where Jim Kirk learned that from. Lol I love how he almost gave poor Tilly a heart attack. I love everything about Chris Pike!
-Still in love with Burnham. SLAY, QUEEN! SLAY!! I especially loved the shade she threw at the Enterprise crew (Pike, blue shirt dude that got himself killed coz he didn’t listen and underestimated Michael, Red shirt girl that listened and survived). So when they beam on the Disco, they’re all talking and stuff then Pike mentions the new uniforms and Michael is like “I saw. Colourful.” LOVE. IT.
-One moment to appreciate the elevator scene. How simple yet so entertaining.I loved it. The banter. I loved how everyone just greeted the guy and Michael was like “hey dude! sup?” and making conversation. Then he sneezed on blue shirt dude and Pike blessed him. I love how simple yet so Star Trek and funny this scene was.
-Another thing to appreciate. The importance of loyalty towards Starfleet and all its officers. I love Michael’s “leave no man behind” thinking. Again, very Star Trek. Family bond was, again, very important in this episode. It’s really the “throw all caution to wind and complete a certain mission and maybe do some science on the way” kinda episode. Which is so Star Trek. This is spot on, in my opinion.
-Sarek and Michael’s relationship. She called him father. Also, Sarek actually admitted to something sentimental. He, for just a second, was vulnerable and open. He admitted to finding Amanda reading Alice in Wonderland soothing. I love it!
-Wilson Cruz (the actor that plays Hugh Culber) tweeted that this episode was all about love. I agree with him. It was. And for the love of all that is holy, he better be back! I can’t see Paul being sad anymore. My heart can’t take it!
-I am really loving where this season is seeming to head. I like the story concept and I feel like it has a lot of potential. Also, I really love the involvement of Spock in this. I feel like this season could potentially be very, very good! I also loved the small tidbits about Michael and Spock’s relationship.
My predictions and what I am looking forward to:
-Lorca is definitely coming back. It’s all in the fortune, baby. He’s coming back, and he’s gonna either kick some ass or get his ass kicked. Again. Those that have read my previous reviews know that I love Gabriel Lorca. I love Jason Isaacs. A lot. So you can imagine just how excited I am.
-They’re gonna bring back Hugh. Ok, so this is less of a prediction more of a “do it or else” kinda thing. Seriously, disco writers. BRING HIM BACK.
-We all saw the Ash/Michael scene. So that’s something to look forward to.
-WHAT WAS THAT THING THAT ATTACKED TILLY??? SHE BETTER BE OKAY.
-Philippa Georgiou is gonna be back! And she joined section 31, so that’s really interesting.
-I wanna see more of Sarek and Michael.
-More of Saru being a Captain.
