"Un Beau Monstre" (1971) - "Cabaret" (1972)

Last night I watched the 1971 French/Italian Helmut Berger movie "Un Beau Monstre" (US title: "Love Me Strangely") ...and in a pivotal scene, in walks the exquisite Virna Lisi wearing the dress I'd heretofore always thought of as "Liza Minnelli's 'Cabaret' Dress"! That's Liza Minnelli, of course, on the right singing the title number in 1972's "Cabaret" wearing the very same signature gown a year after it was worn by Virna Lisi in a film most people probably have never heard of.

The gown is by French fashion designer Loris Azzaro and is titled "Gilda" (he designed a collection of gowns named after famous film stars or iconic roles) and was sold at his Paris boutique in 1970-71.

So I’m going to see Gayle in Cabaret on opening night and I’m so so so excited. Alan Cumming made me love cabaret and I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to see what Gayle can do. I have my doubts about her portrayal as Alys because she gives me such soft vibes when I see videos of her but this picture y’all

This shade of pink is one of my favorite colors and I definitely think it should always be paired with green so it was already winning in that respect but GAYLE!

Oh my goddddddd 😍 she looks insanely amazing and I feel like she could reach into my soul with that face, she looks capable of anything she wants and I’m HERE FOR IT!!!! Or I will be in April 😌

Anyways, I’m excited and I can’t wait to see her on stage with Eddie Redmayne who looks insane as the emcee as well.

Last night after a performance of the thrilling new production of Cabaret we sang Happy Birthaday to the original Emcee Joel Grey who was there in the audience and celebrating his 92nd birthday. It was the kind of New York night you dream about with incredible New Yorkers everywhere you looked.(Yes that is John Kander). Won't ever forget it.

WEST END CABARET TICKET!!

Alright guys I don't even usually do this, but I don't want to waste money, so check it: I accidentally bought a ticket for West End's production of Cabaret on the wrong date. I found tickets on the right date for my friends and I, but now I have this random extra Cabaret ticket??

I bought it for like 75 pounds but I would take like 65-70 for it. It's seat # C9 in the upper circle on May 18th at 7:30 pm!

This week I saw Cabaret in London, and now I am in Miss Marple mode to find out who played Cliff on december 11, because it wasn't Nathan Ives-Moiba for sure. And I Just cannot find any information about the other guy. Nothing. Nowhere.
