It’s pretty much what it says on the tin! A directory of well-known Latinos. I only make notes of their Latino heritage and other ancestry of color or ethnoreligious groups. If they’re part white (and it's known), I’ll make a note of that as well, though I don’t go into any details. If something has a question mark next to it, it's because the information is more hearsay than reliable and I'd like for people to be aware of that.

I was wondering if you know how the names on jerseys work for spanish players? Cause there's those who got their first names on the back (Alexia, Aitana, Patri..) but also some using their last names (like Irene). And then there's Mapi or Cata. I don't really get it and the Internet hasn't really been helpful, can they like choose what they prefer?

yes, so it can be a little confusing, but this is common with spain, portugal, brazil, and players from latin america too because our naming conventions are different than like in uk and us.

fc barcelona wrote an article a little while ago to explain.

but yes! essentially it comes down to player preference! that's why players can choose their first names, nicknames, mother's last name, father's last name. it's really up to them. there's no one way to do it, and it's not based on regional differences or anything like that in spain, which is why alexia goes by "alexia" and ona batlle chooses "o. batlle." hope that helps!

GODD U DONT KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM TO WRITE THIS LIKE LITERALLY IM VIBRATING I LOVE BARKA SO MUCH SILLY LITTLE PURPLE MEN CKSMDMKSMSMSM—

honestly i bet he's kinda the guy who the media would portray as a big flirt/playboy superstar but deep down is a hopeless romantic and genuinely cares about making deep connections with other people. but this desire for emotional connection is what also makes him an inherent people-pleaser, he has to give the people what they want or else they won't want to be around him anymore!

this was his genuine thought process when his mentor relationship with golare started going a bit abusive. his team literally had to tell him that the way golare was forcing his body wasn't good for him and help riano gain the backbone to fire him. (he missed their friendship deeply throughout that time, golare was like a father figure to him)

once golare had been reinstated as barka's coach however, it was all water under the bridge for riano. he was genuinely happy to have his friend back, and to see goldie (the fish he bought golare) doing so well. seeing goldie being well taken care of reassured riano that the friendship he had with golare wasn't one-sided.

anyways barka fc are like his brothers, they all look out for each other in a way (i.e. riano offering free rides/being the designated driver at club outings). but they care for him in return, serving as a support system so that he doesn't crumble under the constant media attention.

should i mention that i don't really see riano as an alcohol drinker? he goes to the clubs purely for the vibes and to enjoy a night out with his teammates. (hah gay)

loves fun drinks though, give that man some sort of cool mocktail and he'll be all over it taking cool aesthetic pictures for his instagram, or whatever the instagram equivalent is in supa strikas.

speaking of his instagram, he loves posting about literally anything that piques his interest, yeah he does some usual behind the scenes posts during practice or after winning a game and whatnot, but he also likes bringing his fans along to see some of his other interests like the weekly latin dance classes he's been taking up. or he'll see a cool bird and post it to his story real quick i dunno—

random thought but this man could rock a pair of stilettos no problem.

source: the one time riano actually managed to get blackout drunk he pulled a whole choreographed drag routine out of his ass, including the black 10 inch high stilettos of course. they have a video of it but they don't dare post it online, it's a team inside joke only >:((

golare has seen the video though and compliments riano on being a good dancer, and riano rues the fact that he was so drunk he forgot the literal routine, he wants to do it again ://.

anyways i'd like to think that riano is a very honorable woman respecter, when girls flirt with him he only discourages it when it goes a little too far (words are one thing, touching him is another). but his type is definitely someone more down-to-earth.

man, woman, whatever else it doesn't matter to him. once a person catches his eye he'll do his best to get closer, he likes to be friends first before progressing into anything romantic. wants to get to know them and let them know him typa thing, no need to rush.

once he does get to that stage though he becomes a hoe for hand holding, or when his partner wraps their arm around his. vice versa as well the man loves his physical affection. wants to reassure his partner that no matter how the media portrays him he will remain loyal no matter what.

deep down i'd like to think he dates with marriage/the future in mind but he won't force it if he does end up reaching a romantic stage with his partner.

Name. Miles Luis Upshur Ramírez

Name meaning. Miles -- Latin, soldier. Luis -- Spanish, famous warrior or renowned fighter. Upshur -- English, literally just means 'from the upper shire', but the fun fact significance is that Upshur was the middle name of the famous American journalist Bob Woodward. Ramírez -- Spanish, wise / renowned ruler / counselor

Alias.( ses ). Fun Mount Massive nicknames: the Host, the Apostle, the Witness, Little Pig, buddy, etc. As far as actual aliases, he's used various combinations of his four names on fake IDs before -- i.e. Luis Upshur, Miles Ramírez, etc.

2. Probably what I consider to be the definitive Oscar-as-Miles photo, one of the things I saw and was instantly assured of my FC choice. It might sound stupid but Oscar is such an irrevocable part of Miles to me. I can't see him any other way, and having such a strong visual representation of him has always been a huge help in making him feel real for all these years:

three headcanons you never told anyone. Disclaimer that I have probably mentioned all of this at some point but it's been seven years of writing this guy and I fear I'm out of completely new material lol

He's never been much of an exercise buff but Miles used to be into running. He had a set circuit when he lived in DC and tried to keep a consistent schedule even when traveling for work. Never got to marathon level but did a lot of 5 and 10Ks, even a half marathon here and there. But it's not something he does anymore largely because there's... really no point. One of the benefits of being possessed and also kinda dead is you don't need to workout! Yaaaaay! Unfortunately without the endorphins and the satisfaction of exertion, running has lost its luster.

Prior to Mount Massive, Miles had a long-term boyfriend from college until they were in their late 20s. The last couple years of it were a tumultuous on-and-off-again relationship that started to deteriorate after he lost his staff reporter job and had to travel more. Prop 8 meant that same sex marriage was off the table, but they talked about engagement and building a serious life together. If Miles hadn't lost his job he probably would've proposed. But, then, if he hadn't lost his job a lot of things would've been different.

Miles is genuinely obsessed with roadside tourist traps -- giant balls of twine and other objects, weird architecture, fake alien sites, that sort of thing. The kitschier the better. If you're roadtripping with him and he spots a funky sign, he's pulling over.

three things your character likes to do in their free time.

Listen to music -- he's almost always got tunes on in the background but will sit down and really get absorbed in an album when he can.

Read -- mostly current events articles, sometimes a good nonfiction book.

Drive -- loves driving around the middle of nowhere to clear his head, even though it's not quite the same without the Jeep (rip).

three people your character loves.

Not technically a person, but the Walrider. Judge him if you want, but after a decade he's accepted that they're fucked up soulmates that were always meant to be <3. It's been a slowburn enemies to lovers journey, but over time he's adapted and stopped hating it for things that weren't really its fault. He's gone from denial to acceptance to tolerance to feeling genuine affection for the Swarm. Maybe it's too complicated to really define as love, but he can't think of a better word.

People with conviction. People who stand up for themselves and the things they believe in. People who are thoughtful and who care about something bigger than themselves.

two things your character regrets.

Not being a better son and brother before everything went to shit. His life choices and the prideful stubbornness with which he committed to them drove a wedge between himself and his parents, which trickled down into a strained relationship with his sisters. In hindsight, they were just worried about him and only wanted what was best for him -- but he was too absorbed with his career and trying to piece it back together to see that. He regrets arguing with them so much. He regrets not making the most of the time he had when he didn't know it was running out.

Somewhat verse specific, but he very deeply regrets what happened with @mslangermann's husband Blake after Temple Gate. Murkoff picked him out of the wreckage and brought him to another facility -- Miles found him while trying to dig up whatever he could about the cult. Blake was completely catatonic, and probing around in his mind revealed that there was nothing left of him mentally, either. Rather than leave him to suffer in Murkoff's hands, Miles elected to put him out of his misery. And still hasn't told Lynn. He doesn't regret doing it -- truly, there were no options that would have saved Blake -- but he regrets not being honest with her. He also blames himself a bit for not finding him sooner and possibly preventing tragedy.

Professor Alecai Kainen - He is Andy’s favorite professor at Oxford who teaches the secret wizard students. He is hired when the war starts to lead a team to experiment with magical weapons created by TOWER (@savetheundoneyears) so they can learn to disarm them and make cures for any curses or hexes or effects. He refuses the suggestions of some of the most brilliant minds of the wizard world and instead insists on hiring his students for his team. He does it so they can gain experience, however he starts to regret it later when the dangerous work starts to take his students lives. He always tries to put himself first and protect the students. He does eventually die doing so. FC: Martin Short

Audry Kainen - She is the daughter of Alecai and is one of the first women students to attend Oxford lectures without chaperones when the rule is lifted in 1914. She strives to be more than just Professor Kainen’s daughter and tries to prove that she belongs and that she didn’t get there simply by being his daughter. She does love him though and he is very proud of everything she does. He knows she is capable on her own without him. Audry and Andy have a friendship that starts out rocky (as you do when two powerful intelligent people think they are both right) but they end up great friends. She reminds Andy of his sister and she also likes that he isn’t one of the many guys who wants to sleep with her or doubts her because she’s a woman. FC: Jessica Biel

PERSONALITY

Child: Growing up he was afforded a lot of luxury as the Vallens had a lot of money. He also would follow his sister around everywhere and loved when they would play. He was also curious about everything and was given the best tutors and he quickly displayed natural intellect and was gifted like his sister. Once his sister discovered her magic and got her letter, he also wanted to explore magic and soon after he got his own letter. This catapulted his confidence as he knew it was rare for two magical children to come from muggles.

Teenage: During Hogwarts, his success in his studies built his ego even further. He was proud of himself, his intelligence, his family, and magic. He also started to experiment with his appearance as he started adopting a more feminine look. Wherever his sister would go, he wouldn’t be far behind. They became really close as their parents expected them to attend all the fancy rich parties they threw at their estate. They would stick together and gossip and whisper about all the guests as they giggled and joked about people.

Early Adulthood: Andy followed his sister to Oxford University after they graduated Hogwarts. They both were hungry to learn more and soon discovered Oxford University home to both a muggle and secret wizard population. They had the best of both worlds to study. Andy started to feel lonely and sad as he was naive and egotistical and did not talk to anyone. He thought they weren’t like him enough to be worth getting to know them. He did not really mean for it to be rude, but he just didn’t think about it. Once the First World War breaks out, he starts to grow up a bit more and learns to separate himself from his rich and gifted upbringing and he gains friendships in the team founded by his wizard Professor that experiments with magical weapons and whose goal is to disarm and find cures for them. He ends up watching half of his team die horrible deaths in accidents with the weapons.

Late Adulthood: After the first war, Andy finishes his studies. Instead of becoming a professor at Oxford or Hogwarts (he’s offered many jobs from both), he decides to try to help the less fortunate receive education. He moves to a small country town and teaches classic literature to muggles. He tries to escape the wizard world a bit because of his experience with dangerous magic and may have PTSD. When the Second World War starts, he is offered a job again from the wizard world which he immediately turns down. He no longer has the ego and ambition to be a hero. Instead, he keeps teaching and also protects his students. He would also shelter and help refugees escape while making sure children still receive safe education and not be forced to fight.

Most at Ease When: Reading classic literature, hanging out with his sister at parties, using his brain

Stressed When: Having to have small talk with people he doesn’t like, being apart from his sister, being lonely

Priorities: Proving his worth and intellect, his friendship with his sister, achieving high academic degrees, keeping his students safe and educating them (later in life)

Strengths: Intellectual, loyal, innocent, secret kind heart, unapologetic for who he is, who he loves, or how he dresses

Weaknesses: Naive, egotistical, too proud to ask for help, drives people away and becomes lonely, sheltered, spoiled

since you said the character is gender non-conforming, the first person i thought of was pidgeon pagonis (36) who is nonbinary and intersex and uses they/them pronouns. there's also brendan jordan (22) who is nonbinary and uses her/him pronouns. i hope this helps!

Odile Peters - she/her. 16. lesbian. Odile is a tomboyish, gearhead from Motor City, exiled to St. Bernadine's for her safety after being caught in a gunfight between the city's feuding families.

Odile wanted to go to Blackwood instead, but her mother was adamant St. Bernadine's would be good for her (famous last words). Fc: Kiana Madeira.

Angelica Monét - she/her. 16. Angelica is a bubbly girl with her head in the clouds. Her family thought St. Bernadine's would help her become more serious and disciplined, which is a total drag, but it's free, so she gets it.

Bernadette Rousseau - she/her. 16. Bernadette is a distant relative and namesake of Saint Bernadine. So there's sort of this weird pressure on her by her mother to be like Saint Bernadine (teacher devoted to her students), but nobody ever considers the part where Bernadine was killed saving her students, and never intended to become a martyr at all. Fc: Zendaya Coleman.

Marianne - she/her. 16. A wan, depressed girl who prefers to wander through the library or the underground cemetery with her sketchbook than interact with most people. She is the daughter of a rich family who exiled her to St. Bernadine's because they didn't want to deal with her problems.

Francine Richard - she/her. 16. Francine is an honor student determined not to let St. Bernadine's less than stellar reputation drag her down. She plans to move away from Vietta City as soon as she graduates and study to become a doctor (?).

Starla Wilkins - she/her. 17. lesbian. Fellow Motor City transplant. Starla was sent away by her family for troublemaking. She would've rather went to live with her grandfather, but c'est la vie, as they say. She has a strange pet spider named Chrome.

Odette Peters - she/her. 14. Odile's younger sister.

Margot Fontaine - she/her. 16. Margot is the troubled daughter of Ms. Darlington, born out of wedlock. Margot puts on an air of polished sophistication to hide her violent nature. Fc: young Olivia Hussey or young Isabelle Adjani.

Ms. Darlington - she/her. 40s. Ms. Darlington is the charismatic latin and history teacher that students and teachers alike swoon over. But behind her charming and colorful facade lies a darkness that is all consuming.

Ms. Sharpe - she/her. 30s. Ms. Sharpe teaches theater and literature. She has a stern, melancholy air that never left after the death of her wife. Due to her manner and appearance the girls at St. Bernadine's are mistrustful and reluctant to confide in her, especially after the disappearances begin. Fc: Jessica Chastain.

Mr. Herrera - he/him. 30s. The only male teacher at St. Bernadine's, Mr. Herrera teaches athletics and health.
