one of the things people don't seem to realize or just forget about hope (especially season one legacies) is that her being alone is her choice. she has done that to herself on purpose.

after watching her mother sacrifice herself for her daughter, seeing her father and her uncle elijah sacrifice themselves for her and the family- she could not bear the idea of losing anyone else. of loving and losing on repeat.

in season four that becomes really really apparent during her no humanity speech to alaric. "i was so sick of being controlled by my emotions. it's like: love, lose, grieve, repeat. i am finally free." so when people bring up the fact that freya, rebekah, marcel, or kol, weren't around for hope more or that we don't hear mention of them- it's on purpose. hope pushed them out, pushed everyone out, so she could stop the pain of losing people she cared about.

hope cares for people so deeply, so truly, that if she allows them in she knows she will lose them. it's why you see her as the loner during season one, why she stopped standing up for kids like henry after losing her parents, why hope stopped trying to be friends with the twins. she could not handle any more loss.

in 3x15, hope even explains how she doesn't want to be the tribrid because of that trauma, that grief. "my whole life has been one trauma after another trauma, and if i have to become a tribrid, it's like i'm stuck in that trauma forever. just like i'm stuck with the memory of all the family that i've lost."

lizzie follows up with "i'm sorry we couldn't see why you were hurting back then." and that just really shows that hope pushed them all on purpose. she was hurting, still hurting.

hope later explains how she just wants to love without losing. "what if someone i love gets hurt in a way that i can't fix? it's the same problem with landon. it's like, for once, i just wanted to love someone and not lose them." she's so afraid of herself, of the tribrid, of losing someone else, she just puts those walls up in order to protect herself but ultimately, to protect those around her from herself.

The fact carlos trashed the loft trying to find the lizard even though he really wasn’t a big fan of it because he knew tk clearly cared about it and would probably be really upset if they lost it completely and he’s probably also still a little bit on edge and doesn’t want something happening to the lizard to cause tk to spiral or something. Even though he clearly wanted a different type of pet, he also really loves seeing tk happy even if it is over a lizard lol but then tk decides it’s probably best to get rid of the lizard (in a humane way) to spar carlos from anymore stress 😂 (tk please bring home a dog or a cat next time I’m sure carlos will appreciate that vvvvv much lol)

I love 3x15 an unreasonable amount.

Carlos tears the apartment apart looking for Lou for two reasons, IMO.

Primary reason: Carlos survived a night in the house with THAT THING on the loose and he was not going to do it twice. We have alraedy seen that there is lasting lizard trauma...as per 3x18 when TK wakes him and Carlos is like "DEAR GOD MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT LIZARD ATTACK!" I love him so much. But yes, the first reason to tear the house apart to find Lou is so Carlos can sleep without too much fear.

Secondary Reason: TK loves this stupid lizard, and he will be upset if something happens to him. And Carlos loves that TK has this huge heart, even if it's scarred with loss, that just loves so totally. Even reptiles that may or may not be flesh-eating (jury is still out).

The legacy of Lou lives on, in which he is definitely scarier to Carlos than Shady Sadie who tried to murder him, TK and Marjan in that house.

Thankfully, upon walking into their house and finding it a diaster and thinking they'd maybe been robbed, TK was able to see just how upsetting the whole Lou thing really was to Carlos and decided the humane thing for TK and Lou was that Lou should be rehomed to his natural habitat. I'm pretty sure they drove out and did it that night so Carlos could actually sleep.

Also, TK had to drive because Carlos was both exhausted and would have been too distracted by Lou potentially escpaing in the car.
