Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (15 April 1452 – 2 May 1519) was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who was active as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect.
While his fame initially rested on his achievements as a painter, he also became known for his notebooks in which he made drawings and notes on a variety of subjects, including anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography, painting, and paleontology.

who wants to see old blue bothering old purple
"'Nardo, I swear to pizza supreme, if you don't - let go!"
"Don't let go, got it," Leonardo confirms, and hacks out a cough when he gets an elbow to the neck.
"You stupid, hot, clingy turtle," Tello hisses. "Not even a turtle, an octopus, you're a stupid, clingy octopus. And I'm overheating!"
"That's your fault for getting a heated blanket before coming to cuddle with me."
"I did nothing of the sort. You wrapped me up, like a burrito, and carried me out of my lab. That's kidnapping. That's illegal."
"We're not kids any more so it doesn't count as kidnapping."
"False imprisionment, then," Tello mutters.
They've still only got one arm out of their burrito, and Leonardo's holding tighter now, so he's pretty sure they won't be able to wiggle out any farther. If they manage to get their other arm free, though, he's dropping them and making a run for it while they're too tangled up in their blanket to charge after him.
"You complain a lot," Leonardo notes, and scowls when Tello yanks sharply at one of his mask tails. It's not hard enough to pull him off his feet, but he veers anyway like it was, smashing shoulder-first into the wall.
"That's because some idiot ran me into a wall!"
Well, that was unnecessarily loud. Leonardo pats at a lump that's probably Tello's shoulder but might be some weird crook in their spine.
"You should tell me when people bully you, y'know. I've always got your back."
"I hate you."
"I think you need to work on recognising how your words affect others."
"Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci Splinterson Hamato Draxum Yuichi-"
"Wow, all my last names, how impressive."
Leonardo dumps Tello down on the couch, ignoring the insulted squawk he gets on impact, and sits down cross-legged next to them.
"Shut up and let me braid your hair," he says, gently working the tie from Tello's ponytail. There's some strands loose around their face, and he knows how much that annoys them.
Besides, they're kind of like a cat. If you can manage to touch their hair without getting bitten, the hissing stops sooner than it otherwise would.
"At least you have the original Godzilla movie on," Tello mutters, and slowly slumps down against his side in the course of the movie, until at last, they're asleep.
It's peaceful. Or at least it will be, until Tello wakes up and sees what little Leo was up to in their lab.

the magical spheres that yougot for me when i was bored
Ah, the three spheres. Heelel, pls explain to this lovely anon, won’t you?
……
“Gladly.”
“In the early years, when the world was still young—with humanity even younger, mortal men went through a path of trial and error in establishing structure and order; struggling to find answers of salvation and guidance to peace. The birth of the Messiah led to a belief that humans were able to communicate to God through prayer and confession, but what they do not realize is that my former master is unreachable. Not even the most desperate prayer echoes to him, and only one mortal discovered this. His name was Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, better known as simply, Leonardo Da Vinci, the renowned artist, inventor, scientist, theorist, and engineer. He inadvertently discovered truth behind the concept of religion and the corruption it would inherit as mankind aged, all by exploring a theory—a theory that held more facts than history itself, and the Bible. To mitigate the terrible happenings he had undoubtedly predicted, he slit his own wrists and called out, not to God, but to his angels. The Arch-Angel Michael descended as DaVinci wept and bled, seeming to ease his dire call. Knowing what Da Vinci had seen in his dreams, Michael knew too well that he was chosen by God to play a vital role in molding a future, one that was before his time. Michael took three artifacts that were collected prior to his meeting. One came from an angel made in Heaven, a feather from their wing. Another came from a mortal girl who died as a martyr at a tender age, her last teardrop. The third came from the ashes of Hell. Combining them, he took the blood of DaVinci and molded them into three orbs and gave them to the young artist. He told him…
‘Seek truth, no matter how terrifying or pure it may be. Through the ancient wonders of magnificent glory, I present these orbs, The Eyes of Peter, James, and John. These ‘eyes’ will show you everything you yearn to see, gain knowledge you dare to know, and to see Him. Him…and the Devil. I bid to you, that before your time in this world ends and you enter the pearling gates of Heaven, to his majesty’s kingdom, you must take their value to your grave, and disbursed them deep into the core of the Earth. For no one of mortal flesh should grasp them unless chosen by Him.’
So Michael left Da Vinci the three eyes and Da Vinci did his part in hiding them well—by using the orbs to show and guide him to the entrance of an ancient gravesite; the secured catacombs beneath the surface of the cathedral that shields the un-discovered tombs belonging to the disciples of Jesus Christ. He hid them there, where no one could ever discover the meaning of their worth, or their location. That, my darling, is where the spheres came from.”

Leonardo Da Vinci's Helicopter and other inventions
Leonardo di ser Piero Da Vinci was born in Anchiano, Italy on the 15th of April 1452 and is one of the most famous and influential renaissance painters in the history. Most of his paintings are displayed in The Louvre and over the years have been offered at auction with prices raging from 11 USD to 450, 312, 500 USD depending on the size and mediu of the artwork.
His most well known artworks consist of :
Mona Lisa (1503)
Tumblr media
The Last Supper (1498)
Tumblr media
The Vitruvian Man
-Which although isn't a painting, is a very important sketch that represents the importance of the human proportions and the theory of how the man could be the centre of the Universe through body mind and soul.
Tumblr media
He also became quite famous for his notebooks in which he kept notes on a variety of subjects such as anatomy, astronomy, botany, cartography and palaeontology. He even had a peculiar way of keeping these notes in which he would mirror his writing , starting at the right side and moving to the left.
Tumblr media
What is maybe less known about him is that, outside of being a painter he was also a remarkable engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor and architect. He conducted dozens carefully thought out experiments and crated futuristic inventions that were ground-breaking at the time such as the catapult, the parachute and numerous auto vehicle designs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although he despised war, he worked as a military engineer to invent advanced and deadly weapons. Most oh his designs didn't get past the sketching phase but they are still remarkable and make for a very dramatic contrast from his beautiful and expressive paintings.
The Fighting Vehicle
It was a circular dish covered with angled steel plates that could be adjusted to protect it from enemy attack. The machine had an impressive number of light cannons mounted all around its circumference, allowing it to attack from any angle.
Unfortunately, the tank was never used due to the fact that it didn't work. The vehicle was completely immobile and this flaw started a lot of theories regarding Da Vinci's true intentions regarding war and his strategies of keeping his work from being stolen.
Tumblr media
The Scythed Chariot
This chariot is in my opinion the most brutal of Da Vinci's war ideas. The chariot was basically a machine of four extremely sharp, spinning blades dragged by two horses.
Tumblr media
The horses would drag the machine through the adversary troops and quite literally slice everyone in it's path in pieces. Although the invention was not originally created by him, he was very fascinated with the chariot which was used in ancient history by Romans and Persians but with not much success, hence his attempts of refining the design.
The Helicopter
Although it is believed that the first Helicopter was not invented until the 1930-40s, some believe that the original designer for the flying machine is actually Leonardo Da Vinci. He has made several sketches of different flying machines, with the glider that has bat-like wings being the most well known one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I mentioned above, many of his designs did not get past the designing phase such as the calculator, which was virtually impossible in Da Vinci's time, he did manage to build the flying machine which resembled the helicopter.
In this tested design, the machine was lifted by a rotor passed by four men. The idea was that if resistance could be created, the machine and its pilot would be lifted from the ground.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, once again, his machine did not work as it was supposed to. The body of the machine itself rotated in the opposite direction to the rotor. Once again it was speculated that Da Vinci sabotaged his own design in order for it to not be used in war.
Although this machine turned out to be unusable due to the flaw in it's design, this could still be considered the early helicopter since the design has many practical elements that are still seen on helicopter designs today.
Modern scientists and University engineering students have tried to recreate the famous design and it is now believed that the machine could actually work if the right modern materials are used.
youtube
I have found many articles that speculated the possibility of Leonardo Da Vinci actually being a time traveller which would explain all the futuristic and ahead of their time inventions that he managed to design.
Tumblr media
I find especially interesting how his robot knight was so closely based on humanoid anatomy and structure. It reassembles the humanoid robots such as Ameca which is made to look and act exactly like a human.

(unprompted) dario da vanci’s entire thing is being a parody of leonardo da vinci and the thing is da vinci’s full name is leonardo di ser piero da vinci which means smth along the lines of “leonardo, son of (mes)ser(???) piero from vinci” which means that dario’s name being based on da vinci’s suggests that 1. vanci is a location in novelmore’s universe and 2. his full name is probably something along the lines of dario di ser dario da vanci or whatever. we know that in the series hes named after his grandfather but no clue as to what his father would have been named. maybe dario (protagonist) is dario the 3rd. thatd be crazy
anyways that also implies that hes italian but you didnt need me to tell you that.

Leonardo da Vinci: The Renaissance Man
(April 15, 1452 in Florence, Italy - May 2, 1519 in Château du Clos Lucé, Amboise, France)
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, in short- Leonardo da Vinci, was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance. He is best known as the famous artist who painted the ‘Mona Lisa’, which has hung in the Louvre gallery in Paris for over 200 years. However he wasn’t just a great painter. Da Vinci was also a sculptor, an architect, a poet, a composer, a scientist, a mathematician, an engineer and an inventor. He was a genius and perhaps one of the most remarkable men that has ever lived.
Tumblr media
A brief convenient timeline:
Tumblr media
5 interesting facts:
➻ His surname Da Vinci simply means ‘of Vinci’, a Tuscan village not far from Florence, which is where his father’s family took their name.
➻ He was a huge animal lover. He even chose to be a vegetarian, something that was very unusual in those days. He was said to buy animals from the market just so he could set them free from their cages.
➻ He was left handed. But as well as using his left hand to write, he wrote back to front, from right to left across the page which meant that, for many years, people were unable to understand his notes. This ‘mirror writing’ led people to believe that Da Vinci wanted to keep his ideas secret and to himself. Moreover, he could use both his right hand and left hand equally well, and at the same time.
➻ He was undoubtedly ahead of his time, with incredibly forward-thinking ideas and discoveries. Da Vinci was the brains behind the bicycle, the aero plane, the helicopter and the parachute  – amazingly he drew designs for all these machines about 500 years before its time. He was the first person who explained why the sky is blue.
➻ Leonardo is commonly known as the ‘Renaissance man’. Renaissance is actually a French word meaning ‘rebirth’ and it describes the time in history which began in Italy in the 14th century. The Renaissance lasted till the 17th Century. The Renaissance was a time for new thinking and a theme of the era was the belief that man was the center of his own universe. People were encouraged to experiment, observe, and question any and all things. But by the term ‘Renaissance man’, what is actually depicted is that- a well-rounded individual, gifted and skilled in many different areas; a polymath. The terminology is after Leonardo da Vinci, the quintessential example of a it and then have been honorably assigned to later great individuals.
Some of his notable works:
“Mona Lisa”- 1503, “The Last Supper”- 1498, “Vitruvian Man”- 1490, “Virgin of the Rocks”- 1483–1486, “Salvator Mundi”- 1500, and “La Scapigliata”- 1508 (unfinished).
