Can we talk about how this episode full of pain and sadness for Adrien ended with him laughing at Plagg (the only one, you'll recall, who can make him laugh like that) and his cheese-related ridiculousness?
It's been a long time since we've heard Adrien really, truly laugh. It's a shame those moments are always fleeting.
I wanted to end this by saying that I'm so glad Adrien and Plagg have each other, and it's true, but that led me back to Adrien's words at the beginning of the episode about not being needed anymore. And the thought of him living a life without Plagg in it, with no more tiny cat god shenanigans, no more belly laughs...it's too much.
I want more of this. My precious cat son deserves more of this.
Just...let Adrien laugh again.

A New Start
Read A New Start on AO3
Masterlist
Written for Maribat March Day 15 - New Start
At the age of twenty-three, Dick Grayson was used to being called names. Playboy, asshole, womanizer - people liked to make assumptions about him. The press only ever saw him as a reflection of his Bruce's public persona, another rich airhead who thought of nothing except sex and alcohol.
Dick tried to rise above it all. He graduated from Gotham University School of Business with a 4.0 GPA. He earned his job at Wayne Enterprises instead of letting it simply be given to him. He never went to parties, never went to nightclubs, never got caught doing anything unsavory by the press. Despite every reason that made him entirely unsuitable gossip material, Dick Grayson was still splashed across the front page of every Gotham Gossip Magazine. They created speculation over every little aspect of Dick's life. When he took a week off of school due to the flu, he was actually partying his way through Europe. When he ran to the campus convenience store at 2 am to buy a new phone charger, he was actually buying a pregnancy test for his one-night stand. When he went to his Bruce's Spring Gala alone, it was actually because he was having a secret affair with one of the married models. Dick knew that nothing he did would change the way the press viewed him.
Dick hated the press. He hated being seen as a rich, air-headed playboy who earned none of his success. He hated how so few people saw past the headlines to get to know the real him. It seemed like no one could see the Dick Grayson who made dumb jokes and loved his slightly dysfunctional family and fell in love with his whole heart unguarded. No one could see the Dick Grayson who just wanted to be loved back.
------
Dick was running late. Any other day, he would be perfectly prompt, but that morning, everything went wrong. The subway got delayed. The uber driver tried to take a shortcut down the wrong way of a one-way street, adding another twenty minutes to Dick’s commute. The barista at Starbucks messed up Dick’s americano not once but twice (Dick still tipped her, but he was still resentful about it). When Dick finally got to the office thirty minutes late, he found out that he had a meeting in twenty minutes all the way across town.
Overall, the whole morning seemed to be fated for disaster. Dick caught a taxi outside of Wayne Enterprises, chugging the last of his americano before he got in. On the drive to the Gabriel Fashion building, Dick got himself up to speed on the topic of his upcoming meeting. Ever since the arrest of Gabriel Agreste two years prior on charges of domestic terrorism, Gabriel Fashion had lost more and more money until it was simply impossible for the company to remain afloat. However, despite the catastrophic failure of the parent company, one branch of Gabriel Fashion was still doing incredibly well. Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s line of sustainable, environmentally friendly fashion, named Miraculous Fashion, was widely regarded as the best thing to come out of Gabriel Fashion in the last fifteen years. Wayne Enterprises wanted to use Miraculous Fashion to get into the fashion business. Bruce was willing to offer Adrien Agreste, CEO of Agreste Fashion (though not for much longer, as the company was on the verge of declaring bankruptcy), just about any amount of money Agreste could ask for in order to acquire Miraculous Fashion. However, that meant getting the approval of Ms. Dupain-Cheng first, which was the reason that Dick was meeting with Ms. Dupain-Cheng that morning.
Dick's horrible luck wasn't through with him yet, though. As his taxi pulled up in front of Gabriel Fashion, the vehicle drove through a huge puddle, splashing street water all of a young woman walking past. Dick could hear her surprised shriek even from inside the taxi.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck," Dick muttered as he shot out of the taxi. "I'm so sorry. Are you okay?"
The woman blinked up at him, wiping the icy water off of her face. "I'm fine. It was an accident."
"It's not fine." Dick's already foul mood even worse after seeing the state of the woman. Her coat (originally cream-colored, as Dick could tell from the dry spots) was now covered in wet, gray stains.  "I can pay any dry cleaning expenses."
The woman shook her head. "It's not a big deal."
"I'll pay for your cab ride if you'd like to go home and get changed," Dick offered. He knew better than to throw money at a problem, but he wanted the guilt he felt about ruining the woman's morning to go away.
She shook her head, wet strands of hair sticking to her face. "No, it's fine. I have a change of clothes in my office, and I can get cleaned up in the bathroom."
"Okay. Sorry again Miss..."
"Dupain-Cheng. Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
Dick winced. Of all the disastrous coincidences... "I'm Dick Grayson, your 9:30 meeting."
Marinette stared at him for a moment, before starting to laugh. "What a terrible first encounter we had. Why don't I walk you up to my office? My secretary can show you around while I get changed."
"Sounds great, Ms. Dupain-Cheng."
"Call me Marinette."
"Only if you call me Dick."
Marinette tried and failed to hold back a giggle. "Right this way then, Dick."
------
Dick had the sneaking suspicion that despite the fact that Marinette had lived in Gotham for the past six months, she had yet to encounter any of Gotham's many gossip magazines. When she looked at Dick, there was no judgment in her eyes. Dick was used to the underhanded insults, the subtle ways that people tried to undermine him because they didn't think he was qualified for his job. Marinette never acted like that. She was interested in everything he said, offering both praise and criticism to his ideas as they negotiated the terms for a potential merger.
"I want Miraculous Fashion to continue past the end of Gabriel Fashion, but to be honest I was hoping to be picked up by a company more experienced in the fashion world. Miraculous Fashion has a lot of potential, and I don't want to let that go to waste with a company that - no offense - might not know how to operate a clothing company."
"I understand your concern, but Wayne Enterprises is dedicated to expanding into the fashion world. I swear to you that Wayne Enterprises will do whatever it takes to ensure that Miraculous Fashion prospers. I can't promise that we won't make any mistakes or screw-ups, but I can promise that Miraculous Fashion won't be abandoned when times get tough."
Marinette nodded thoughtfully. "I'll think about it, but there's a pretty good chance that I'll agree to this. I've gotten a few other offers from different fashion companies, but none quite as enthusiastic as Wayne Enterprises."
"I hope to see you again soon," said Dick as he left her office.
Even though it was riddled with disaster, Dick couldn't help but feel good about his morning. His meeting with Marinette felt special. It felt like a new start.

When Two Coffee Addicts Unite 2
Part 2
@maribatmarch-2k21 Day 29: Wait!
Ao3 *** Part 1
~~~~~~~~~~
Marinette has been in Gotham for almost two months doing her class work online while working with Lucious Fox on the fabrics and the best way to show case them. If the prototypes happened to need testing and kept her warm no one mentioned anything. Luckily, Adrien, Kagami, and Chloe told her when the class would be arriving. Her luck also held seeing as she had and apartment in Gotham, thanks to her uncle Jagged, she wouldn’t be in the hotel. Because of this she and her friends were allowed to stay at the apartment so long as there was a responsible adult with them. Jagged would say it was him, but the group of five were allowed to stay in the apartment, so long as they made it to school, W.E., and any mandatory events unless given permission to skip.
The first day of classes wasn’t too bad, thanks to being ahead and he placements, meaning that very few people from her class were with her. Thank kwamii Felix was such a book worm that she had at least one familiar face.
Arriving at Wayne Enterprises was another story. The two busses and the car that held Mari and her friends arrived. Marinette was going to just walk in when she was pulled back by miss Bustier.
“You must wait Marinette.” She smiled at her condescendingly.
“Hello I am Bruce Wayne. I only have a moment.” He scanned the crowd when his sights fell on her. “Miss Marinette what are you still doing out her.” He seemed to speak only to her.
“Just held up for a moment.” She replied to the billionaire, who may or may not be the same person she demolished at UMS III yesterday, when she was hanging out with Tim, the rest were sleeping off jet lag.
“Head on up would you, Lucious is waiting.”
“Of course,” a blindingly charming smile on her face. “you wouldn’t mind if I took up the interns for my team, now would you?
She could see that he could tell what she was planning. “I don’t see a problem with that. Seeing as they will be aiding the upcoming show after all.” He motioned for the receptionist to proceed.
“Oh! Um, of course.” The woman flipped through a few pages. “Mr. Adrien Agreste, Mr. Felix Graham de Vanily, and Miss Chloe Bourgeois. Please come forward and collect your badges.”
With that the four of them would have walked in had Lila mot started making a commotion. “Wait! Why are you letting them in without explanation?!”
“If you wouldn’t mind Bruce?” he only nodded to give her permission. “You see the reason I haven’t been in France is because I have been working on a partnership project with Wayne enterprises. I, for the duration of this project am considered a department head. Right now, I need to go up and continue my work.”
“But why are you taking them with you?”
“The three of them have been assigned to be interns and a part of this project. Is that a problem Miss Rossi?” She quirked her head and brow. When she didn’t get an answer, she headed in with Adrien, Chloe, and Felix in tow.
“Nettie! Thank god, okay so you better at this than me seeing as I need to figure out a way to be cordial with Luthor.” Tim ran into the elevator before it closed.
“Voice call, video call, meeting, or email?”
“Voice call.”
“Deep breaths keep to the points you need and stick to them. If he grates on you can always sick him on me.” The two of them laughed. “Oh, that’s right, this is Adrien, Felix, and Chloe.” The five were walking down the hall to the room she and Lucious were working in. “Guys this is Tim Drake.”
“Nettie’s told me a lot about you guys.”
“And we’ve heard quite a bit about you.” Chloe bumped into Mari and if she blushed no one was any wiser, hopefully.
They got to work and an hour in did the question come up.
“So, who is this Luthor, Tim did not want to Talk to?” Chloe asked.
“That would Be Lex Luthor of Lex Corp.” Lucius answered.
“Okay so why offer for him to turn him to you?” Adrien brought up.
“Okay remember last month, when whenever you guys called, I was irritable?”
“What of it?”
“At that point I hadn’t slept in almost a week, and well one thing lead to another.”
- - -
Marinette had stalked into the building a huge cup of coffee in one hand, a tablet in the other going over designs and fabric functions.
She was already in a mood seeing as there were four separate akumas from midnight to noon in Paris, meaning it was six pm to six amin Gotham. She didn’t even have a chance to sleep.
The week before were random attacks from both akumas and amoks. Add to the fact she still had class work and this show to put on she was seriously lacking sleep.
She stopped by her temporary office space dropped off her coffee, bag, and coat. Checked the time, 8:15 am, grabbed a stack of designs and the function reports from the fabrics and the tech that will accompany them. With that she made it up to Tim’s office and walked in.
Immediately she noticed that he was close to screaming, but to anyone else it would seem like he was mildly frustrated. “Monsieurs Wayne. There are a few things that need your…”
“Who do you think you are to interrupt this meeting. Or are you blind as well as stupid.”
“Excuse me?” She didn’t raise her voice, but her posture shifted, but most importantly her aura changed. You see most people think ladybugs are harmless, but most forget Ladybugs are carnivorous and are known to cannibalize other ladybugs. She quickly flicked her wrist and noted the time, 8:18 am. “You see if I am not mistaken, I was scheduled to meet with Monsieur Wayne at 8:20 to go over a secret project between Wayne Enterprises and the designer MDC. Seeing as it my scheduled time you are intruding upon Monsieur…”
“Luthor. Lex Luthor of…”
“Lex Corp. I am aware of your position, but seeing as this is neither your office, your building, nor your company. Added to the fact that this is not currently your scheduled meeting time slot. I believe it best for you to wait outside until we are finished. Or are you honestly that belligerent and stupid that you cannot read a clock, Monsieur Luthor.” For a moment he simply sat there his moth pressed in a line, before silently standing and sulking out of the room.
- - -
“Wait you sent Lex Luthor, one of the most powerful men in the world, sulking out of a room without lifting a finger?” Adrien announced shocked.
“Well I was seriously sleep deprived and did not have a single care left to give, besides, I have good teachers.” She shot Chloe and Felix a smile, and a thought to Kagami, stationed in Security, she may specialize in swords but knowing how to use a gun and taser isn’t bad to have.
“what did he say when he finally saw you again?” Chloe was now fully invested in the gossip.
“He apparently did a quick search on me and found out I am MDC. The most connected and influential female under the age of twenty. The muttered a small apology but wouldn’t look me in the eye.”
“According to Bruce Wayne Luthor apparently, muttered something of how with your influence you may damage lex corps reputation.” Lucious added a hit of a smile.
“Well he’s not wrong.” She shrugged and the room laughed as they continued to work.
MariBat March 2021 - Wait!
Masterlist - Previous
*
Lila Rossi enjoyed her life. After coming to France and transferring to one of the most prestigious schools in Paris she knew she would be famous. Naturally after that much practicing in her old town she was pretty sure here, in the Francois-Dupont College she could easily climb to the top.
She barely was able to conceal her own surprise for the stupidity of this school. Everybody, every student and every teacher believed her, furthermore wanted to hear more. And thanks to the research she did before the transfer she was able to provide interesting stories at the caliber of them.
She almost let her hysterical laugh out when the Ladyblogger herself made an interview with her.
Of course that day wasn’t only high, but she didn’t laze around when she hid at home. Almost with everyone in the class she chatted. It was a little satisfying how much they carved to know her life better. And how small energy it needed to control them when she went back.
Naturally there was Dupain-Cheng and that little boneless Agreste too, however they weren’t such a big hindrance to her. She had enough practice to dispose of any kind of accusation on herself.
She was pro.
Nevertheless it was a kind of shock to her too when someone took a photo of her. Yes, she modelled with Adrien after her little negotiation with his father, but that shoot wasn’t yet published.
It was surprising. It was not bad, just a little surprising.
“Lila!” she heard Alya from the school’s entrance and saw the quite eager waving. Ugh.
She forced a polite smile and with a little skip she walked to the Ladyblogger. She absently noticed Nino and Adrien too, and of course the goodie-two-shoe Marinette. That girl was a nightmare, but Lila didn’t destroy five children already for nothing.
“Guys! How is the day going?” She stepped directly to Adrien and almost immediately felt the baker girl's eyes at her.
“This is almost the second best day of my life.” Alya jumped up and down excitedly as she grasped her phone with her two hands.
“Oh, what happened?” For her question she was almost bambolished by the other girl and was almost blinded by the girl's phone. It showed different graphs and a lot of numbers. Lila never was good at math so she just smiled a little wider and pretended curiosity.
“My blog succeeded it’s highest top. Almost crushed a few times, but I got a lot of trafficking.” Alya babbled. Lila just nodded. “And the most viewed video, girl! It’s fantastic.” In the end of her sentence she barely was quieter than a shouting monkey.
“Which is…?” She wanted an answer. That’s why she hated people, period. She always had to work to get something she wanted. For her fake curiosity she got a rather murderous glare from Marinette and a blank expression from Adrien, but the other two didn’t catch those.
They were too happily rambling about statistics and following numbers. Alya started to irritate her. “What happened, Alya?” she asked again eagerly.
“Your video reached two million views in one night.”
Wait! Two million in one night. She grinned satisfied. “Oh, it’s amazing. I am so happy I could help to gain so much fame to you.”
“Yes, yes. Especially, yesterday this video only had five hundred and sixty two views.”
What? She only had that little number yesterday? What changed over the night?
“Maybe your followers found something interesting within that video.” Marinette opened her mouth for the first time since Lila arrived. Adrien nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, it was quite a glamorous story, right?”
Lila had to stop herself to elbow the model. The two of them didn’t use any sarcasm or criticism, but she knew what were the little jabs in the sentences. It was quite oblivious if someone knew the truth.
Fortunately neither Alya nor Nino knew anything at all, so they just praised her more for her adventurous life. And of course she couldn’t quite stop herself when they asked more questions about some tiny details. And of course she happily told them everything they wanted to know.
Since she was at the top.
And she only.
Betrayal
For Maribat March day 7 theme betrayal
Master List
Adrien didn't understand. Why would his lady do this to him? Hadn't they loved each other? One moment he was trying to convince her that they were made for each other, then the next she’s taken his ring away. And the cherry on top, no matter how much he begged, she hadn’t even revealed himself to her.
But that was fine, after all she would eventually see reason, give him back his ring, reveal herself to him, so that they could live happily ever after together.
Only when the next akuma arrived, she did not show up with his ring. She did not show up at all. Instead she came with new miraculous users, and there was someone wearing HIS RING!
Maybe it was a mistake, perhaps she was just trying to make him jealous. But no, in the interview done by Aurore, not Alya, she said that they were all permanent. Including this IMPOSTER! How could she do this to him? How could she betray him like this?
If this was the game she wanted to play, then he would play. He just needed to find someone to be his pawn. Then she would see, and she would come begging.
As he walked into class the next day, he spotted his target. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, sitting in the back of class with Nathaniel. Ever since she switched seats with Lila that’s where she sat. Perhaps he could ask Nath to switch with him.
Marinette was kind, forgiving, and pretty. The perfect person to make Ladybug jealous. He just needed to get her to go out with him. Which unfortunately was easier said than done.
Nath refused to switch seats with him, which was totally unreasonable. Marinette took whatever means necessary to avoid him, during school, at the bakery, and when she was hanging out with her friends. He even tried to get to the bakery super early to walk with her to class and tried to walk her home.
But she either had Nathaniel, Marc, Mireillie, Aurore, and even Kagami at times with her. All of whom got very aggressive whenever he got near.
That was okay though, he would just try a different approach. So he started leaving roses and gifts at her seat. But that didn’t work either, in fact it looked like she was getting annoyed. Like she had a right to be annoyed.
How was he supposed to make Ladybug jealous if she didn’t go out with him. Now he was getting annoyed.
It didn’t help that his father and Natalie were arrested for being Hawkmoth and Mayura. His mother was in their basement in a coma and was thankfully revived. So she started taking care of him.
That was fine, but what was more annoying was that Ladybug wasn’t seen after that. No one from the team was. And she had never come back with his ring. Never come back to apologize or reveal herself.
The nerve of her! And what was worse was that Marinette was no longer seen at school. It wasn’t like her to ditch school, so where was she? He tried asking her parents but apparently she had gotten emancipated.
And none of his friends had any clue where she was. And when he had tried asking her current friends, they refused to tell him!
It wasn’t until years later, married to someone he didn’t love, a woman who only loved his money, that he had stumbled upon an account. Marinette’s tik tok account.
He eagerly pressed a video, wanting to see how miserable her life was now since she had left. What he saw made his blood boil.
There she was with the famous Jason Todd-Wayne, looking happy. Having the nerve to be happy while he was miserable. And apparently she wasn’t even Marinette anymore, she was MARGOT TODD! How dare she move on! How dare she be happy dating some secret girlfriend while he was miserable with his lying, gold-digging wife! It wasn’t fair! IT WASN’T FAIR! IT-
His thought was cut off by a knock at the door. “It’s me Monsieur Agreste.” The sweet voice of his secretary came from the other side of the door. Just what he needed.
“Come in Ashlynn.” As he made his way to the door, Ashlynn walked in. He immediately closed the door, grabbed her waist, and pulled her into a passionate kiss. He would’ve done more if not for her hands pushing him away.
“Not today Adrien, Lila just got home.” She spoke, slightly out of breath.
“I see, shall we continue this later, Ashlynn?” Despite it being a question, there was no other choice in the matter.
“We shall Monsieur.” She replied, walking out the door to go greet his horrible wife. Some days he wished he could get a divorce, but that wouldn’t look good for his already struggling image.
-
“Chloe! I’m home!” Marinette shouted to her lovely girlfriend.
“Pixie, come to the living room! You’re gonna wanna see this!” The voice of Jason Todd came from her living room.
As she made her way to the living room she was met with Chloe and Jason both grinning like maniacs on the couch in front of the TV.
“What are you both watching?” Marinette asked, before she registered that Jason was in her home, “Wait, Jason what are you doing here?”
“Just come watch babe.” Chloe whined, making grabby hands at her girlfriend.
Marinette went and sat down in Chloe’s lap while Jason rewinded the TV. Marinette was about to ask again what was going on when the news person started speaking.
“Famous model, owner of Gabriel Agreste, and son of late Gabriel Agreste, Adrien Agreste has been divorced by his wife Lila Agreste, now Lila Rossi after having an affair with his secretary, Ashlynn Leroy. So far he has yet to comment on the affair or divorce, but this isn’t the first time that the young man has come under fire…”
“Seriously, Lila is actually divorcing him?” Marinette questioned, shocked at this revelation.
“You’re surprised she’s divorcing his money.” Chloe snickered.
“Yeah, yeah. But Jay, that doesn’t explain why you’re here?” Marinette went back to her original question.
“I wanted to see your reaction. And I’m not surprised, apparently this isn’t his first time cheating on her.” Jason answered.
“What poor soul do you think she’ll try to trap next?” Chloe jokingly asked.
“Well lets see…” Jason trailed off.
“I never should’ve let you guys meet.” Marinette muttered, narrowing her eyes at the two of them.
“We were gonna meet one way or another Pixie. She’s your girlfriend and I’m your best friend.” Jason easily replied.
“You two are gonna be the death of me, you know that?” Marinette complained. Jason was about to reply but then the doorbell rang.
“Oh pizza’s here!” Jason raced up to grab the door.
“You ordered pizza!” Marinette exclaimed.
“It’s with my money, don't worry!” Jason yelled back.
“JASON!” Marinette screamed, while Chloe laughed in the background.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m not sure how many people saw the post I made earlier today, but I’ll say it here. While I was writing psycho Adrien I ended up scaring myself as I wrote him. I told my sister and she laughed at me, she’s lucky she doesn’t have these writer problems. On another not, I bet you weren’t expecting that plot twist. But honestly as long as Adrien isn’t dating Ladybug I totally see him as a cheater. But that’s just me.
Maribat March Day 25: School Dance
ao3
@maribatmarch-2k21
Marinette was sitting on the front steps of Collège François Dupont, staring out at the city of lights in all its glory. She had left the courtyard, where the dance was happening in exchange for some silence. Not that she minded her friends’ exuberance but Marinette wasn’t in the mood the listen to Ladybug this and Ladybug that. The dance was more of a welcome party for the exchange students they had from Metropolis. After Hawkmoth’s defeat, in an attempt of showing goodwill between France and the U.S. they were hosting an exchange programme. Metropolis was picked with it being the home of Superman.
The Dance had been great, the Girls had all come together to plan their outfits. Unsurprisingly, they were hero themed. Subtly, but they were still hero themed. Marinette had used the same colour schemes, the Kwamis had also provided lots of input. She had spent days arguing with Alya about dressing up with a Ladybug theme. Alya thought Marinette would look extremely like Ladybug but Marinette was not going to risk her identity for this, so she reminded Alya of the picture of the mouse hero that had been caught in the security footage of the TVi building. So, Marinette had ended up going in a poufy light grey dress with pink and white designs covering it, a Marinette original obviously. But she had joined the others on their several shopping trips. (Rose and Juleka had ended up with Carapace and Rena Rouge themed outfits, Marinette had taken a picture of the actual Carapace and Rena Rouge’s reaction and sent it to Adrien. He replied with a crying laughing emoji.)
Marinette had not been there during the day when the students from Metropolis had arrived, she could have easily gone and introduced herself but if she had to talk to one more person about Ladybug Marinette would go home.She had told Alya that she was tired and she’d be outside if anyone needed her and had left before she could be interrogated.
Her train of thought was broken by a boy who had walked out, he had black hair and the most beautiful blue eyes under his glasses. He seemed to be looking around. He finally spotted her and walked towards her, “hi, I’m Jon Kent. I'm looking for Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you are her, right?”
“Yup. You’ve got the right Marinette. Nice to meet you Jon. You’re one of the exchange students, right?”
“Yeah. Actually, um, Alya asked me to talk to you about the schedule and said that you were outside.”
Marinette groaned, “She could have called me, not sent you looking.”
“I might not have waited.”
Marinette laughed then, surprising both herself and Jon.
“I have the schedules printed out, they’re in my locker. We can go now if you want.”
“That would be great. I’m sorry for bothering you.”
“It’s ok,” at his look of doubt she added, “really, it wasn’t like I was doing anything anyway.”
“If you don’t mind me asking but why were you sitting out there all alone when there’s a Dance going on?”
“I don’t mind. It’s just it gets too much sometimes. We’ve been under the control of a man who exploits our emotions for years now. It’s sort of tiring in a way to deal with emotions anymore.”
His mouth formed a soft oh, “I’m sorry.”
“For what? None of this is your fault, and we’ll get used to the new normal eventually.”
“Talking about it can’t be nice though.”
“Talking about emotions is never nice.”
Jon laughed and said, “you remind me of my friend, he has a similar habit.”
That was interesting. “Did he come along with you?”
“He goes to a different school, so he couldn’t join us.”
“Oh. He sounds interesting, it’d be nice to meet him.”
.oOo.
Their conversation halts as they reach the locker rooms. Marinette opens her locker and takes out the schedules she had printed. Going through the names until she finds Jonathan Kent, she hands him his schedule.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Have any sight seeing plans for your stay in Paris?”
“The Eiffel tower and maybe a few more places.”
“Cool. Oh- me and my friends are going to Place des Vosges tomorrow, you could join. I think you’d get along great with them. If you have no other plans that is. We’ll have loads of fun”
“I don’t have plans, you’re sure your friends will be fine with me tagging along?”
“Of course. We’re going after school tomorrow. We’ll probably meet up at the Bakery-“
“Bakery?”
“Right, I missed that. My parents own the Bakery nearby we usually take some sweets before we go anywhere so it kinda became our meeting spot.”
“That’s sweet.”
She groaned, “please tell me that was accidental.”
He blinked in confusion and then he realised he had punned accidentally and laughed. “That was an accident.”
“Thank God, I can’t deal with anymore punners in my life.”
“Oh?”
“My papa and best friend both love stupid puns. It’s going to kill me someday soon.”
“It can’t be that bad.”
“It is, anyways who’re you staying with you can just tag along with them to the Bakery tomorrow.”
“Nino Lahiffe.”
“Great,” she said instantly brightening. Jon chuckled at her cuteness. “He’ll be coming tomorrow so that won’t be an issue. Do you mind if I add your number to my contacts?”
“Nope,” taking her phone he added his contact. Handing the phone back to her, the two of them head back to the courtyard.
.oOo.
She had lots of fun with Jon, he was sweet and funny. Alya had wiggled her eyebrows at her when the two of them had returned. Marinette ignored her and proceeded to talk to Nino and Jon.
She had returned home an hour ago. Once she had gotten ready for bed and Tikki had fallen asleep, Marinette took her phone and opened up the contact that Jon had saved as his in her phone, she sent him a text.
Marinette: Hey Jon!
Marinette: This is Marinette…just wanted to let you know that this is my number
Marinette: Good Night!
A moment later her phone buzzed with a notification.
Jon: Thank you Marinette!
Jon: Good Night!
Marinette smiles and puts her phone down.
Little does she know it’s the start of a beautiful love story.
Jon's totally there because Batman thought he could use the exchange programme as an excuse to get more information on the parisian heroes. Adrien's in London with his aunt because its after Hawkmoth's defeat.
Their Own Lives
For Maribat March 2021 day 6 prompt Miraculous Side Effects.
@maribatmarch-2k21
Enjoy~
Jason looked at his boyfriend and their girlfriends, taking in the way their eyes seemed both ancient and new. He smiled before swooping down to press a kiss to Nino’s cheek. He had taken to having two girlfriends and a boyfriend like a fish to water. Although, sometimes his boyfriend and girlfriends were not themselves.
Hua Mulan, Ciu Su, and Luo Tian were all wonderful people, they were different from Marinette, Chloé, and Nino. Hua Mulan was headstrong with a voice velvety smooth and when she was in control, their eyes were brown. Ciu Su was not nearly as bossy as Chloé with a honeyed voice to match her affinity with Pollen’s Miraculous, when she was in control, their eyes grew darker. Luo Tian was quicker to anger with a voice deeper than Nino’s, when he was in control, their eyes were nearly black instead of Nino’s brown.
While Jason was increasingly familiar with the other sides of his significant others, they were becoming increasingly familiar with the other side of him. Fan Jie was soft where Jason was hard with a voice softer and lighter than Jason’s, when he was in control, their eyes were light brown but sparkled with tiny light green flecks.
They were written in the stars, fated to always reunite no matter how far they must travel or how long they must wait.
Adrien and Sabrina, or Lai Lin and Hu Ming, grew closer too. Lai Lin and Hu Ming interacting with the other four more and more as the two fronted more and more. Lai Lin made their voice deep and mysterious while their eyes were dark hazel. Hu Ming made their voice harsh and gave off the air of a general while their eyes became brown.
Alfred, or as the six had begun calling him Master Lim Zi, was always one of the first to tell who was in control. Sometimes he even beat their significant others, unless they also were their Chinese counterpart.
---
Chloé was pressed against Marinette’s side as they suffered the cold together. Nino was pressed against their backs, offering as much heat as he could. Adrien and Sabrina were wrapped around each other, basking in their love. Jason would be with them but he was at a family thing.
A handful of teens walked into the park, chatting and laughing loudly. One particular part of the group, a rather attractive blonde girl, continued to boast loudly. “My Daddy ensures me that I’ll marry a Wayne.”
Marinette, Chloé, and Nino all became intrigued by this teens claims so Marinette, the least intimidating of the three, approached the group with her phone calling Chloé in the pocket of her oversized jacket. “Excuse me? Did I hear you say Wayne?”
The blonde girl, who upon closer inspection was hardly what anyone over the age of sixteen would consider attractive, barely concealed her sneer but after having dealt with Chloé for years and then Lila Marinette had gotten rather good at identifying sneers. “Yeah. What’s it to you?”
“My friends and I,” Marinette gestured behind her to her friends, “are new to the city and we had questions about the Waynes since everyone here loves and respects them.”
The blonde girl laughed and shrugged. “Well, there’s Bruce Wayne, the father, he’s like forty or something. Then there’s Dick Grayson, he’s so hot but he’s like almost twenty now. Then there’s Jason Todd, he’s so much hotter than Dick but he’s like closed off but gives off bad boy vibes and I would definitely ride him given the chance. Then there’s Tim Drake, he’s kinda dorky but he’s kind of cool I guess. Then there’s the only blood son, Damian Wayne, he’s been dubbed the Ice Prince.”
The blonde girl was cut off by a pair of arms wrapping around Marinette’s waist. A head of black hair with a shock of white came to rest on Marinette’s shoulder.
“I missed you today Em. Family events are always so boring.”
Marinette leaned back into him, angling her head back to give Jason a kiss and displaying several hickeys of varying sizes and colour on her neck and collarbone. “I missed you too Jay.” She looked back to the girl and raised an eyebrow. “She said she’d ride you given the chance.”
“You’re- you- you’re Jason Todd.” The blonde girl stared at him slack jawed, missing the arrival of two more of the French people.
Chloé wrapped her arms around Marinette’s waist, looping them through Jason’s before resting her head on Marinette’s other shoulder. “What Jay? No love for me and Nino?”
Nino frowned as he wrapped his arms around Jason’s waist. “We’re feeling neglected Jay. I mean, we always knew Em was your favourite.”
Jason kissed Chloé and then Nino. “I’m sorry Cee. I’m sorry En. I still love you both but look at her, she’s so fragile.”
Marinette blushed and shook her head. “You three are so mean.”
The teens slunk away, the blonde girl hiding her face.
The four lovers got lost in their reunion, sharing gentle kisses and longing glances. They were only a part for a few hours but it felt like hours when one of them wasn’t around.
---
Bruce walked into his living room, looking for his children, and found all of his children and the French teens curled around each other on a makeshift nest on his living floor. He let a smile spread across his face and pulled out his phone to take a picture. He made sure his flash was off before centering the group in the view window and taking the picture. He saved the picture to his cloud account before sending it to the family group chat and quietly backtracking out of the living room to go find Alfred. He could always talk to his children later. He ducked into his office to do some paperwork, knowing Alfred would get him before dinner and that he would see all of the children for dinner. He was glad that his children had met the French teens everyday that they became closer as a family.
Maribat March Day 18: Protect
ao3
part 1, part 3
@maribatmarch-2k21
Ages of the Batfam approximately in the fic:
Dick-25
Jason-19
Cass-19
Marinette-18
Steph-18
Tim-17
Damian-11
Babs is around Dick's age and Alfred's immortal.
Also since this pre hawkmoth's defeat Adrien is currently Mr. Bug and fighting Akumas with the help of the rest of the team.
Dick and Damian had been injured on patrol. Unsurprising really. They were still getting used to being partners. So, Lady Noire was covering both hers and the dynamic duo's patrol routes.
Marinette had joined them on Patrol as Lady Noire the day after her return to Gotham. Alfred had refused to let her join them the first day. He had said that it had been way too much for her to handle and that she should go to bed. Alfred was right. But Marinette didn't see the need to admit it. She and Dick had drawn up the patrol route the next day. They were a lot more extensive than the ones they had followed the last time she had been in Gotham. But it was a crime ridden city with around half its protectors left.
She also happened to be one of the only members of the family who had managed to keep in contact with everyone. She and Babs had spoken and Marinette now had Oracle to back her up and by extension Batgirl. She and Steph had spent some time together but given that Steph was handling both college and vigilantism, they didn’t see each other all that often.
She called Cass regularly and might or might not have bullied Jason into accepting her calls.
Surprisingly, it had been Tim who had called her. He had needed to go to Paris on his search and Marinette had set down rules on other heroes entering Paris. Family or not they were supposed to let her know, and knowing better than to anger Marinette, Tim had called. He probably wouldn't have if he knew she was in Gotham, the idiot would have just tried to get away with it. She had been angry either way. He hadn't even bothered to talk to her before leaving Gotham. But Tim had retorted, "it's not like anyone believed me."
"I do. I saw your research there's a large possibility you're right. "
Tim had nearly cried then, telling her everything. She had immediately forced him to promise that he'd check in once a week at the least.
As she leaped across roof tops, she heard a little kid say, “look Mommy, it’s Catwoman.” You cannot throttle kids, she reminded herself. It wasn’t even the first time she had been mistaken for Catwoman. The first time it happened, Marinette had turned blank and Barbara had laughed, while Dick could be seen visibly holding in his laughter. Batman doesn’t laugh after all. Selina herself had teased Marinette about it endlessly.
Patrol had been quiet so far, which might have been a good thing if Marinette wasn’t sure it would take a turn for the worse. And wasn’t she right.
Alfred had just called telling her that Damian wasn’t at the pent house and the Robin suit was missing. His tracker led to one of the warehouses by the docks. Marinette cursed. On a normal day Robin could take down a decent number of goons and come out unscathed. Injured? Marinette didn’t want to find out.
She headed to the docks as fast as she could. It was honestly fairly obvious where they were, almost as if they were trying to bring attention to themselves. It was probably a trap for Batman. Taking Robin as bait almost as if it had never been done before. Except it had been done several times before. One would think they’d at least get a little more original.
Looking around, there were about fifteen goons. Damian must have been more out of it than he let on. God only knows why the kid would sneak out in such a state. Marinette had an inkling that it had to with Talia and his upbringing. What Marinette would give to have a conversation with Talia right now.
Sneaking in carefully, Marinette starts to formulate a plan. Taking them all down was not an option, some of them might try to harm Damian. She didn’t need him to over exert himself. They could take the Batmobile back, she’d already asked Alfred to bring it to their location, but he clearly had been downplaying his injuries and Marinette didn’t want to test his limits.
He could untie himself. He was definitely capable of doing so. Marinette couldn’t see if he had done so or not from where she was standing but she doubted that he hadn’t. He was also taunting them and sneering at them constantly. Marinette had no idea if he had a plan or not. However, before Marinette could do anything, one of the goons spotted her. Damian who had seen her at the exact same second, freed his hands and took down the man nearest to him. Before he could fight more, Marinette used her staff to vault over to Damian and grabbed him. She dragged him behind her to where Alfred had promised the Batmobile would be waiting, ignoring his protests of how he could take them on his own and that he had a plan.
Once they were seated in the Batmobile and headed back to the penthouse, Marinette spoke up, “why did you sneak out?”
“Tt, I’m capable of taking care of myself.”
“All of us are, but Bats protect our own.”
They made the rest of the journey in complete silence. Both Dick and Alfred were waiting at the cave. Once Dick had finished fretting over Damian, he benched him for the next week and sent him to bed. Marinette had begin to walk out so she could finish her Patrol when Alfred called, “Miss Marinette, I believe it’s time we all returned upstairs.”
Dick laughed and Marinette sighed and detransformed. Once they had returned upstairs, Marinette pulled her brother aside.
“What’s up?”
“Why did Damian think he had to sneak out when he was injured?”
Dick sighed, “I don’t know Nette, or rather I have no confirmation of my suspicions. But he seems to have an in built need to prove himself, thinks we’ll send him back and that failure is unacceptable.”
“I would love to have a very strongly worded conversation with Talia.”
“I would too, Alfred probably already has a speech drafted.”
Marinette chuckled, “that definitely seems like him.”
“Going to bed? Or are you gonna stay up working on your commissions?”
“I’ll check up on Damian and then go to bed.”
“Night Nette.”
“Night.”
Marinette made her way to Damian’s room. He was still awake when she went there, sitting on his bed and glaring at the wall. He was pointedly ignoring her presence. Marinette cleared her throat, all she got in return was a “tt.” Taking that as an invitation, Marinette sat down next him.
“I know Talia didn’t tell you about me, and with all the teachings of the League you think that our Family follows a hierarchy of the same sort.”
He didn’t respond but she knew he was listening.
“You’re part of this family too, ok? You don’t have to fight for a position here.”
Damian turned to look at her, clearly vulnerable. Marinette had just smiled him and wished him good night. She had meant what she said earlier today. Bats protect their own and Marinette would protect her little brother.
Maribat March Day 1: Found Family
Yes, I'm aware it's not March. It's already up on ao3 but I wanted to cross post it onto this.
ao3
@maribatmarch-2k21
Hawkmoth was gone. There wasn’t even a battle, Adrien had come to her as soon as he found out about his father. Having the element of surprise and Chloe as Queen Bee, they managed to get the miraculi with minimum damage. Everything afterwards was a blur. Hawkmoth was gone. She thought for the hundredth time emptily.
She’d been staying with Chloe when Adrien had come to her, they’d known their identities for the past three years after Hawkmoth’s threat became worse. Adrien and Chloe had been the only two people she had spoken to in the last month after a horrible argument with her parents about her continuous disappearances. And the Bats, but they didn’t know she was no longer staying with her parents. All her conversations with them were mostly check-ins over text. She hadn’t visited or called, they would have known something was up so she texted Tim that she’d be busy for the next few months with commissions and Ladybug and that she wouldn’t be able to talk or visit as often. She had convinced Tikki that using the Horse miraculous to go to Gotham wasn’t using the Miraculous for personal uses, she trained when she was there and it was a good break from the tension in Paris and it reduced her chance of akumatisation. Tikki had agreed to those points but had only caved when Marinette started trying to bribe her with extra cookies.
She missed those visits. She was with Adrien when she voiced that thought. They were at the Eiffel tower, sitting in complete silence as the two of them stared out at the city. The news of Hawkmoth’s defeat would spread throughout the city in the next hour or so and it was sure to erupt into celebration. Adrien’s aunt had already been told and she was coming the next day to take him to London.
He had smiled sadly at her and said, “Go to Gotham, Bug. Go to your Family.”
When she started to speak, he cut her off, “You and me both know they’re exactly that. They’re more your Family than Tom and Sabine will ever be.”
“And you? I don’t want to leave you alone, especially after everything.”
“I’ll be fine. I have Chloé, and Aunt Amelie will be here tomorrow. I want you to go. You deserve someone to be there for you too, and they’ll be there. Even though the whole lot of you have issues with processing emotions and talking things out.”
She laughed at that, a sad sounding crying laugh, but a laugh all the same
“Talk to you later?”
“Talk to you later. Come visit, we can explore London together once things calm down. Feel free to drag the others along.”
“You’re begging for chaos.”
“And you’re stalling. Go or I’ll call them myself.”
“Ok, ok, I’m going. See you soon.”
She swung off leaving Adrien on the tower still staring out at the city the two of them had protected since they were thirteen. She headed to the hotel first to tell Chloé. Chloé was in her room, talking to Pollen as if it was the last time she would see her. “Here to take the miraculous?”
“Actually no.”
“Great. You’re finally going to talk to the Bats then.”
“It hasn’t been that long, and anyways Adrien’s on the tower. Bring him back and spoil him for me, will you?”
“Of course, now shoo. The news was just released, they’re probably already waiting for you,” and then Chloe transformed and jumped out of her Balcony.
Chloé had been right. The news had already spread throughout the world and the second Marinette detransformed her phone started going crazy. There were messages and missed calls from all of the Waynes, official and unofficial. Ignoring most of them. She opened her messaging history with Tim and sent him a message.
Batcave. I’ll be there in 2 minutes.
She didn’t need to bring anything with her, she visited them often enough to have her own room filled with her things and everything. Transforming with Kaalki she created a portal and stepped into the Batcave. Tim was already there. Knowing him he’d probably been there for the past few hours regardless of how early it was. She fell into his arms as soon as she got there. Crying, with relief, happiness and so many other emotions. And he just hugged her back and stroked her hair. “Let’s go up, Dick wants to have a movie night. Cass and Steph will be back from Hong Kong tomorrow morning and Babs already went home.”
“Tim, it’s past 4 in the morning. And I’m going to assume you mean today morning”
“well, technically, yes. Today morning and it’s not like we were asleep anyways. The news came just after we had finished with Patrol,” he said defensively.
She sighed, “you Bats and your sleeping habits.”
“Hey, yours isn’t much better.”
“Guess that makes me one of you, then”
He scoffed, “please, Damian thinks you’re skilled and that’s more than what he thinks of the rest of us. You’ve been one of us for ages now. All that’s left are official documents.”
“Please don’t fake those.”
“Do you seriously think I would do that?” He said mock offended.
“Obviously,” she deadpanned.
They continued making their way through the rest of the Manor in comfortable silence. Leaving Marinette with her thoughts for the first time since she had entered the Manor. She remembered, when she had first met Tim when he had come to Paris to train with Master Fu’s friend who had at the time been teaching her too. When they weren’t practicing, Marinette took him around the city. He had become like a brother to her. An annoying one, but she’d been continuously reassured that all siblings were just like that. And then she met the rest of the Bats and she found the way they behaved around each other fascinating. Teasing and rude until someone outside their family did the same then they were nothing but defensive and dangerous. And somehow Marinette had seamlessly joined their chaotic Family some point in the five years it had been since she had first met Tim. They had become family even before they trusted the other with their Identities which was as weird as it sounds. With Marinette dropping by Gotham to help with Patrol and the Bats occasionally coming to Paris to help her and Adrien train.
They had reached the media room and she entered the room only to be swept into a hug by Dick. Damian was sitting on one of the blankets surrounded by his pets. Jason was sitting on the couch with a book, he reaches out and ruffles her hair when she’s near him and quietly says, “you did good.” She whispers back a thank you. Duke waves to her from his spot on of the bean bags. Bruce was Bruce. So, Marinette as soon as she was free from Dick’s hug, hugged him and said, “Good to see you too B.” And then Bruce smiles and Marinette takes that as an opening and cuddles into his side. Tim sits on her other side and Marinette leans onto him too.
Jason leaves his book and joins Damian and Dick on the blanket pile on the floor, despite the large amount of space left on the sofa. Duke stretches out in the now empty space. They finally settle on watching the Avengers movies.
Damian falls asleep halfway through the first movie and Dick brings Damian closer to him. Marinette feels Tim’s breathing slowly even out towards the start of the second movie and she smiles softly, Tim needs more sleep. She falls asleep around the time the Avengers start trying to pick up Thor’s hammer.
She wakes up the next morning to Stephanie jumping on her and hugging her and as soon as she’s calmed down from the instant panic any hero gets when they think they’re getting attacked in their sleep, she hugs Steph back and laughs. Cass is standing behind Steph and engulfs her in a hug the second Steph lets go, and Marinette is filled with a sense of safety in her sisters’ arms. Steph starts talking excitedly, shooting rapid fire questions, before Cass gets her to stop by bringing her attention to Marinette’s expression. The rest of the boys start to wake. And Steph and Cass go around with the round of hugs and greetings after being gone for a while. Steph’s phone chimes with a notification. Checking her phone, Steph grins. “Babs said she’s coming by for breakfast. Oh, and Alfred said he’s making crepes and we should probably go before they cool down.”
Jason groans, “Couldn’t you have started with that.”
Stephanie crosses her arms, “Of course not. What do you take me for?”
Jason just grumbles and walks out of the room, probably to get ready before breakfast. Marinette, giggling, follows the rest of them as they all rush to get ready so they don’t miss Alfred’s crepes.
Five minutes later, the whole Wayne Family and their friends are there at the table eating breakfast. And it’s a beautiful chaos that Marinette thrives in. Babs and Dick are talking. Steph and Damian arguing spectacularly loudly about something or the other. Jason and Duke are fighting about books again. Next to her, Cass tries to make sure Tim doesn’t fall asleep on his food. And throughout the chaos Bruce just has an exasperated and tired but somehow fond look on his face. While Alfred comes and goes, offering sarcastic remarks occasionally.
Marinette knows they’ll have to talk later about Hawkmoth and Tom and Sabine. But right now, she’s eating breakfast with her family and having fun and all the worries can be for future Marinette. Present Marinette is going to wreak chaos with her batshit crazy family. The one that she chose.
Maribat March Day 9: Teen Titans and Day 10: Creatures and Cryptids
ao3
@maribatmarch-2k21
Marinette and the others were at the tower celebrating Tim's return. They had been overjoyed to hear of his return and by the time they had left for their rooms it had been fairly late. She was checking her phone when Adrien messaged her. Her sleep addled brain was confused for a moment until she remembered that London was eight hours ahead of San Francisco and Adrien had probably just woken up.
Kitty: Marinette!!!!
Kitty: I googled the meaning of cryptid and look what I found!!!!
Kitty: cryptid/ˈkrɪptɪd/Noun
1.an animal whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the yeti.
Kitty: That would make the Kwamis cryptids, there existence isn’t really substantiated.
She stared at the phone; it was too late to deal with this but she responded anyway.
Bug: I’m pretty sure they’re just normal creatures Adrien
Bug: I’d tell you to go to bed but its morning there so…
Bug: however im sleeping now. Good night.
Sighing she fell asleep, she’d ask Tikki about it tomorrow.
.oOo.
Marinette returned from Breakfast with cookies for Tikki and cheese (that’s not camembert) for Plagg and some food for if any of the others decided to come out. The two of them spent the most time out of the miraculous box, Tikki obviously staying with Marinette and Plagg joining them nearly every other day. The Kwamis preferred to stay in her room, some of them had wanted to explore the tower, but she had told them not to, she didn’t want to scare her team mates. Though, she doubted Raven would get scared.
Handing the food to the Kwamis, she lets Trixx out and waits for a bit before asking them about Adrien’s findings. Tikki hummed thoughtfully while Plagg remained absorbed in his cheese. “Well, technically I guess both could apply. While there are ancient scriptures and such that show our existence none of them provide concrete evidence. The only people who are usually aware are the Guardians and the users. In current times that would just be you and Adrien, given that Master Fu removed Gabriel and Nathalie’s memories on the functioning of the Miraculous before he lost his when he passed over guardianship.”
“What Sugar cube’s trying to say is technically to everyone other than you and the kid, we are cryptids.”
Trixx who had been silent up till this point, piped up, “ooooh, your team mates don’t know about us. Can we please go around pranking them? Spreading some necessary chaos? Pleaaaase?”
Plagg had gotten a look in his eyes that spelled mischief. Tikki just sighed. Marinette was torn. On one hand she knew it wasn’t exactly right but on the other hand Plagg and Trixx might just carry out some convoluted plan without her permission. It would make more sense to know what exactly they were doing, also it would definitely be fun to watch them freak out hr team mates. Grinning at Plagg and Trixx, Marinette agrees. Tikki just sighs and shakes her head, Marinette thinks Wayzz would probably have the same reaction, but she can’t bring herself to care. They’re going to wreak havoc on the rest of the team.
.oOo.
They went with Victor first. His one mechanical eye meaning that he would only be able to see the Kwamis through one eye and he would probably just brush it off and wouldn’t alert the others. Marinette and the Kwamis hid while Kaalki talked his ear off. Making sure to stay out of sight other than a few glimpses. Leaving him confused at why he couldn’t see anything. Eventually they heard foot steps and hurried out, Kaalki calling out a bye.
.oOo.
Gar was next. The other Kwamis had managed to talk Wayzz into taking part in their elaborate prank. So, when Gar was eating alone, Wayzz went in and started commenting on the most random things. Garfield had responded completely casually the first time and then had turned to look at Wayzz and freaked out. He ran out of the room calling for Raven and screaming about spirits and that she had to make sure they weren’t being haunted or anything of that sort. Marinette and the Kwamis just snickered as the others in the tower started yelling at Gar.
.oOo.
They had unanimously agreed that they were not going to try anything on Raven.
.oOo.
Kon and Bart had been the next on the list. They were easy enough, they spent enough time around each other that it wasn’t hard to catch them together. They were playing video games when Xuppu and Nooroo, the both of them having been extremely eager to join, showed up next to Bart and Kon and started making a mess and calling out insults every time they made a mistake and floating out of sight when they turned to look. Eventually the two of them got worked up enough for Kon to use his X-ray vision. The two of them had phased through the floor and returned to her room not wanting to test whether or not they would show up on his x-ray vision.
Unsurprisingly the news got to Tim, which she knew would get him worked up and more paranoid then usual but she was going to have to tell them about the Kwamis soon enough. She’d put a stop to it if it was affecting his physical health.
Bart had decided that Gar had been right about the haunted spirits and had gotten Raven to check the whole tower. Raven had done so, and in front of the whole team had declared there was nothing to worry about, there were no spirits the only magical prescence in the tower was positive and whatever had happened was probably harmless. She had then proceeded to tell them it would probably end soon while giving Marinette a pointed look, to which she just guiltily smiled back. Raven the sighed and returned to her room.
.oOo.
None of them had actually seen the Kwamis, Marinette realised when the Kwamis went to Cassie. While she knew the others thought something was going on, she wasn’t too worried about it. This unfortunately had its disadvantages. Sass had gone to Cassie and had gravely started, “Cassandra Sandsmark-“
“Tell Ares he can go fuck himself,” she snapped and then walked out of her room to the training room leaving the Kwamis and Marinette in confusion.
Mentally noting to check up on Cassie later, they decided to move in onto their next victim.
Robin.
.oOo.
They couldn’t get to Tim. They had been called for a fight and Marinette had to transform. In the end she had to use more than one Miraculous, revealing to the others that it had just been her and the Kwamis messing with them the whole time.
“I thought the tower was haunted,” Gar complained.
“I was there,” Marinette repeated, “It was incredibly funny.”
He just groaned in response. They had returned to the tower not long back and had not moved away from their current topic since then. Bart had calmed down in about five minutes of nonstop talking and Sass had decided he was going to explain things to Bart himself. Victor had just frowned in exasperation and walked out. Raven having already known had left for her room as soon as they returned to the tower. Kon was laughing at Gar’s misery and Tim had started talking to Wayzz about the Kwamis and such. Marinette had pulled Cassie aside and told her that she was there when Cassie spoke to the Kwamis and that she was there if Cassie wanted to talk. Cassie had given her a nod told her that she’d think about it and had left.
She was explaining everything to Gar now, she had finally gotten around to when Xuppu and Nooroo had gone to Bart and Kon. Kon had stopped laughing at Gar immediately at that point. When she mentioned what happened with Raven, Gar shrieked, “she knew?” At which everyone still in the room burst out laughing.
Hawkmoth's defeat in this was before Miracle Queen. Master Fu then modifies Gabriel and Nathalie's memories and hands over guardianship to Marinette and loses his memories and then joins Marianne. The temporary holders dont get the miraculous.
Maribat March Day 27: Contest and Day 28: Young Justice
ao3
@maribatmarch-2k21
Adrien was bored. The girls had all gone to Anita’s house for a sleepover. Snapper and Ray were doing whatever they do when they’re free. Kon was watching TV. Heaven knows where Slobo is. Tim was in Gotham and was supposed to return the next day. Bart was probably somewhere around.
Usually, he’d just go patrol in Paris but Marinette had the horse miraculous and Slobo had taken off with the supercycle.
The thing with leaving a sunshine childlike Adrien alone with the god of destruction is, it usually leads to chaos. And Plagg was always happy to cause some destruction.
“You could create an obstacle course of sorts, get all your friends to compete when they return.”
“How exactly am I supposed to build an obstacle course all on my own, Plagg?”
“That’s simple. Take the fast one’s help.”
Adrien frowned, “Bart has a name y’know.”
“Eh.”
“But that’s not a bad idea. C’mon Plagg let’s go find Bart and see if he wants to help.”
.oOo.
Bart was more than willing to help. Together, the two of them created an obstacle course spanning around the grounds of the mansion. They might’ve worked on it well into the night but it’s not like Bart had any plans on sleeping and Adrien didn’t mind sacrificing his sleep for a good cause. This was going to be. so. much. fun.
Bart probably did about 90% of the work with Adrien helping everywhere that he could. By the time they had finished Bart had been tired enough to take a short nap and Adrien had fallen asleep the second his head hit the pillow.
Adrien was awoken the next morning by Marinette yelling. He caught onto only the tail end of what had probably been a very long lecture.
“-GONE FOR ONE DAY, WHY IS THERE A WHOLE OBSTACLE COURSE OUTSIDE?”
Adrien ran down immediately. Marinette was standing in the centre and screaming with Tim next to her, who was probably waiting for her to finish so he could offer his own lecture. He must have returned around the same time as the girls. Cissie and Traya had tagged along with the others, and were standing to the side trying to hide their amusement. Cassie had probably finished her piece since she was standing of to the side. Anita looked like she wished she could vanish. Greta looked lost. Slobo had reappeared at some point and was laughing out loud. Adrien could see Kon flying around outside, checking the course out, from the windows. Bart was standing in the centre trying to explain to Marinette how it was a genius plan.
Adrien joined Bart instantly.
“Mariiii, it’ll be fun. We can have a contest.”
Marinette glares at him, “How much of this was Plagg’s idea?”
Adrien grinned sheepishly, “all of it?”
Snapper walked in at that moment, saw all of them and Bart and Adrien’s masterpiece, sighed and walked out.
“I don’t think a contest is a good idea,” Tim added.
“But Tiiim, it’ll be fun. All of us can compete and Traya can be the judge,” Bart whined.
“Fine. Whatever.”
Bart cheered and ran outside to tell Kon.
.oOo.
About ten minutes later, they were all outside. Dressed in their suits, with the exception of Cissie. It had taken Bart and Adrien ten minutes to convince all of them to participate. Bart and Adrien’s obstacle course was complicated enough that it could be used for military training. They had made it compulsory to complete everything properly because most of them had super powers. Just before Traya told them to start Adrien realised they had never set down any rules about cheating. This might not be as fun as he initially thought.
Two minutes in and he already regretted not forbidding cheating. Bart was constantly being thwarted by Kon who had decided Bart had an unfair advantage of both his speed and his knowledge of the course. Marinette had already used her yoyo twice to throw him behind her. Adrien was sure that this was beyond her wanting to. Anita and Cassie were only occasionally bothering the other. Greta and her whole incorporeal-ness made sure she was nowhere to be found but Adrien had seen her there when they had started. Cissie and Tim not being superpowered were neither bothered by the others nor bothering the others. If everyone else didn’t already have someone to bother they probably would have concentrated on the two non-super powered heroes but Kon was busy with Bart and Marinette was annoyed enough to be petty, and neither Cassie nor Anita were likely to do so. It might eventually happen, though. Adrein doesn’t know anymore. Slobo had ignored all rules and was using the supercycle to finish the course.
Adrien tried to look around once more for Greta when he felt Marinette’s yoyo wrap around him again. That’s it. He’s playing dirty too. Extending his staff, he knocks Marinette out mid-swing. The annoyance on her face makes it worth it, until she smirks at him. Adrien knows that expression has seen it on her face several times right before she takes down an akuma. He’s pretty sure the only thing she won’t resort to now is murder. He vaults away as fast as he can, hoping his head start lasts a while.
.oOo.
Greta wins in the end. No one’s necessarily surprised. While Slobo had reached first he didn’t do any of the tasks so Traya had decided it didn’t count and had ignored his grumbling. Greta had managed to do what required actually moving around physical objects and had pretty much phased her way through everything else. Traya had decided that counted since everyone else was too busy cheating. Predictably Tim and Cissie had come in as second and third.
After Traya picks the winners, Cassie tells Bart and Adrien to clean up their mess. She ignores all their protests and forces them to clean up.
They finish cleaning up a few hours later. The rest of the team is just hanging around when they come back. Ray had apparently come back in the few hours they had been gone. Bart bursts into the room a few seconds later with a blueprint for the next obstacle course.
His declaration is met with a chorus of groans and Adrien hears Plagg cackling from his pocket.
