I know valkyrie's story features Mika as the carrier of the "becoming (and what it means to be) human" theme, but, maybe i'm speaking from the pov of a native speaker of a language in which "to be human" can mean "to act with compassion". I think Shu also fits it. I think Valkyrie's theme is about becoming (more) human, but for both of them in different directions. And both of them helping the other. Shu helping (after enabling him for a long while) Mika see himself as a human being instead of a doll, and Mika helping (after enabling him for a long while) Shu act with compassion and Think about others.
