I have this headcanon of Polly that she’s always had a very special bond with all her nephews and nieces but especially Tommy. According to her wiki page, Polly’s only 6 years older than Tommy and I just imagine her adoring her little nephew with his big blue eyes and his chubby little cheeks.

She’s one of the first one to hold him when he was born and wherever baby Tommy was, Polly was never too far. She would always ask Martha to let her hold him, always there when he was being fed.

Of course, Tommy loved his aunt just as much. He’d often fall asleep on her when she’d tell him tales she heard from her own mother and only calm down if she was the one singing.

the rumors said it. || leslie, ethan, silas, duke lionheart, atlus.

Leslie frowned as he finished rereading the letter that was currently causing his raging headache, and it was no less repulsive than when he had first read the thing. The letter was from Emperor Silas of the Ascian Empire, who had apparently heard 'great rumors of her [Caelia' s] power', wished to 'merely assist her in containing her strength, thus bettering her health', and he was qualified for this because he himself had already, 'helped two other children with their problems of mana'.

He had to admit, it was a crafty story. A crafty story from a crafty old man. A well written, well framed, well invented story. Did that mean he was going to believe it?

Absolutely not.

Pushing aside all the fancy words, he could read between the lines: 'I've heard rumors of your niece's power, so just let me confirm it so that I can exploit and use her power just like I exploited and used the powers of two other children, all to satisfy my own greed.' .

Your greed will never be satisfied, Leslie silently concluded.

A slight diversion was provided when Ethan poked his head inside the office, looking as cheery and good natured as always. He grinned when he saw his usually mild mannered brother scowling at the yellow parchment letter. 'Good afternoon, little brother. What're you looking so angry for? Did another noble lady invite you to a tea party even though you both know she intends to marry you?'

'No. Somehow, this is worse. ' Leslie said, with a sigh. 'This is the most audacious letter I've ever read, and that's saying a lot.'

That got Ethan's attention — Leslie very rarely complained about anything. 'May I read it?'

Leslie threw the letter across the room at Ethan — another thing that Leslie would usually never do — and collapsed backwards with a sigh that seemed to resonate through the whole room.

Ethan read the letter uneasily, dreading the thing that had gotten Leslie so riled up. His wariness soon changed to anger, however, and once he had finished he strode up to Leslie's desk and slammed the letter down.

'What the hell is this, Leslie?'

'I wish I knew,' Leslie muttered.

Giving up on composure, Ethan ripped it in half, looking furious. 'Don't you let him on our land. Call for his right hand instead. Say he has an empire to look after. Do that.'

Leslie sat up, looking thoughtful. 'Do you know, that might actually work! Okay. I'll write to him.'

Two people stood in front of the grand gates of the Imperial grounds — an adult man with a tall boy standing close to him, clutching his things. He looked up at his master. 'Why are we here, Sir?'

Duke Lionheart gave his aide a cold smile. 'To meet a princess.'

'A princess.' Atlus repeated.

'Yes, Atlus — a powerful princess. You must not upset her.'

'I understand, sir.'

'And if she is upset, we can bring her with us. To… let's say, to help her a little bit.'

anyway in a more comprehensive post i have to admit that this chapter absolutely has made my muse peek even higher.
