Given Lily hates short hair on women, the majority of her porn has longhaired girls in it (including some of the trans girls in the loli and shota she was looking at) and her hatred for transfemme people who aren't her, her using a flag by an anti-butch person makes total sense to me. And since she loves using the word freak and thinks it has no ableist history, the flag maker using it would also be a bonus to her. This is probably Lily's favorite flag.

A queer podcast I listen to semi-regularly describes a queer wlw category of longhair / shorthair like it's a common parlance I should know, though I've never heard it used anywhere else.

At first I thought it was a butch-femme thing but it seems to refer only to literal hair length. The host talks about longhair-shorthair couples, shorthair-shorthair, longhair-longhair and so on in the sense of these having some impact on personality and relationship styles. It's not precisely serious, but it's not precisely not serious either.

So I've been growing my hair ever since the bald part filled in, because my nonbinary wife wants to play with it. Now I wonder if I'm sending some kinda message to other queer ladies as a "longhair" and what on earth that could be.

This kind of makes me feel like a Bad Butch (which I know is dumb but my brain spews a lot of bullshit) but there's a not-insignificant part of me that never wants to get a really short haircut ever again, or at least not a shaved head, after I get on a chemo regimen that'll let my hair fully grow back.

That kind of thing is why I tend to wince at universalizing narratives within the LGBT community, because even if a certain life story is common there are always gonna be folks who have wildly different if not the exact opposite experience from it and taking it as a default only alienates people. Like ever since I've been involuntarily bald (sure, I've got the duck-down now but it's really just the hair equivalent of baby teeth) I've associated being hairless with being helpless - vulnerable, afraid, uncertain. Call it the Samson Effect if you will. My social anxiety has gone through the roof since starting infusion and I know for a fact that while not all of it, a significant portion of it will be alleviated once I get to the point where I no longer feel compelled to wear a hat - or worse, a damn wig - before leaving the house.

I just hate that this narrative is seen as usually typical of heterosexual femininity, and at odds with many if not most butch experiences. I resent the hell out of the fact that I look more androgynous when I'm sick, even though I'd love nothing more than to achieve total social androgyny. If this means being a longhair butch for the rest of my days once my hair is back, so be it.

Skip this if you don't wanna hear about me being a sad downer, I'm just feeling weird and unlovable this morning. In case I haven't mentioned it here, I'm hardcore pining over one of our service advisors at work lol.
