Have you watched the first episode of Strange New Worlds yet? I wanna know your thoughts

THANK YOU FOR THE OPPURTUNITY, DISTINGUISHED PANEL OF JUDGES (spoilers, seriously do not read if you havent watched it! its so good, you should do it unsullied)

okay so first and foremost: i fucking loved it. it was the best live action pilot of a star trek show since DS9- i thought the writing was so fun and energetic, and the characters/ cast are POPPING off the screen. im so excited for this season, i think its going to be a return to form in a lot of ways and i think that'll be a breath of fresh air. (i know some people are sad SNW doesn't seem to be taking risks, format wise, and you know; i like that picard and disco did something new and broke the serial mold that DS9 cracked for them. but i also love episodic television and i think having SNW be episodic functions as a great connective tissue between DISCO and TOS!)

the cast is FUCKING STELLAR!!!!! THEYRE SO GOOD! we know i love ethan & anton & rebecca's takes already, but what little we got of everyone else has me DROOLING. also im in love with ortegas already so. lesbian me, confirmed. (also set design & lighting is so much better than disco... holy shit)

i also loved the choice to open with a mission that the Red Angel incident caused; i think its a great way to introduce how that situation is still heavily affecting both pike AND spock, as well as how Starfleet was clearly not equipped for that level of conflict and now have to grow as well.

now... that's not to say i don't have critiques. because obviously, im not pleased with the spock/ t'pring stuff. i don't like how either character was written in their interactions and i think their scenes weaken the relationship we see in TOS. i know im a gay spock truther and people love to give me shit about that, (which you know... is another issue we wont get into here) but setting my personal spock truth aside; it was still a weak choice. i think tpring and spock work best when presented as foils and peers who are forced into a bad situation. the way they both get OUT of that situation (their engagement) is what defines both them and the fundamental difference b/w vulcans & humans: tpring functions within the traditional system to dissolve their union, as where spock breaks form completely and creates a new solution. framing their relationship like they did in the pilot weakens that decision on a whole. (& im not someone whos like "oh you have to stay totally adherent to established canon!" either but these interactions also felt out place when compared to how t'pol's engagement went? or is that just me?)

however, im also holding judgement. because i think one way to interpret this spock trying to follow michael's final advice (yeah yeah i have michael brain rot, sue me i dont care.) in spock's head, tpring IS the person farthest from him (she, again, represents the archetypical vulcan and everything about that society that he doesn't fit- and, they don't really like each other. they were forced together, they did not chose this.) this is spock reaching out, trying his damnest to respect what his sister wanted for him, even though she meant something totally different (canonically, or metacanonically at least, she was talking about kirk-) so it could very much crumble into the relationship we see between tpring and spock in TOS.

regardless, i like how spock was written outside these scenes and you can tell ethan loves playing him. and the tpring actress is really serving, i hope she gets more outside of spock! uhura is already a delight, i cannot wait to dive more into her and see what celia does because theyre so talented; i love la'an's voice and presence and i can't wait for her and #1 to have scenes together! pike is so charming and well written and i love how he interacts with his crew. chapel is deranged and i love that choice, m'benga is such a good CMO. i am so pleased with this episode, i really am!

Eddie Munson is not dead. He's not quite sure why that is, though.

He remembers being on the boat, seeing Steve take his shirt o-get your mind out of the gutter Munson, for fuck's sake-and then jumping into Lover's Lake, and... Huh. Well this is a predicament.

It's kinda hard not to believe in soulmates when you can see the edge of a soul mark peeking out from under a bandage. He just hopes the bats didn't chew off a piece of it. Of fucking course they managed to tear away parts of his tattoos, though. He paid for those, damn it!

Better scarred than dead, he supposed. Wait. How is he alive again? Henderson sure as shit didn't carry him; the little brat just had to come back for him and get hurt in the process. So that rules him out. Speaking of Henderson, right now he's talking a mile a minute, won't seem to shut the fuck up about Harringt-hang on a fucking minute.

Steve Harrington carried him out of hell??? Well..... Shit. Maybe they are soulmates.....

Speak of the devil, here he comes. He looks rough, like someone sucked the life out of him. Which is ironic seeing as Eddie was the one in a coma for about five days. He can't help but feel concerned for the other man though. Why does he seem nervous? Are the scars all over his body really so hideous that Steve can't even look at him? He hasn't had time to check a mirror since he woke up, but Wayne said they weren't that bad. They can't be. Right?

"Hey," Steve mumbles, shifting from one leg to another, not able to make eye contact. His focused is fixed on Eddie's arm. On the mark.

'Ohhhhh no,' Eddie realizes. 'He gave me CPR, he dragged my sorry ass for miles, he HAD to have seen my soul mark!! He knows!!!'

"I'm glad you're okay," Steve continues. "We were all really worried about you. I was really worried about you." The last part is whispered, but Eddie catches the words. His eyes wander away from the younger man's downcast face, towards his arms. His left arm, to be precise, where a soul mark rests. It's identical to Eddie's: a bat in mid-flight. Only where the older man has an extra, to go along with the flock already tattoed there, Steve only has the one.

"I guess we have a lot to talk about," Eddie braves with a tentative smile.

"Yeah. I guess we do," Steve replies, a grin of his own growing in return, and oh what a beautiful sight that is.

He's not sure when it happened, or how it happened to him of all people, but Eddie Munson started believing in soulmates that day, and Steve Harrington began believing in fate.

I honestly didn't know what to do for the ending. I wanted there to be like, some dramatic build-up and nervous tension but I really just don't have the spoons to write any more. I wish that I could've given this a mote satisfying ending, but at this point the desire to just Be Done overrode the fear of not making it perfect.

Part 3 (THERE'LL BE ONE MORE I'M SORRY)

Eddie Munson was dead.

Key word being was.

For exactly 4 minutes and 36 seconds, his heart did not beat.

The last minute and 14 seconds of those were spent being resuscitated by one Steve Harrington; former lifeguard, CPR certified. Those four and a half minutes were the worst moments of his life. His soul mark turned black, like charred steak. His sight went hazy around the edges, almost as if he had tunnel vision. He was focused on one thing and one thing only: not losing his motherfucking soulmate, again.

When Eddie's heart beat again, his chest rising and falling without Steve needing to inflate his lover's lungs himself, it felt like he was the one finally able to breath again. He picked the body-no, Eddie, up as gently as he could, Robin grabbing hold of his legs, and Nancy supporting Dustin next to them. The ragtag group of teens hobbled their way to the gate where Fred was killed, since they wouldn't be able to lift Eddie through the portal in the ceiling.

The gravity change wasn't nearly as harsh this time, which thankfully made the process much faster. Every second counts when you're carrying an formerly-dead man. Steve didn't even notice his mark was back to normal, too concentrated on keeping Eddie from losing any more blood.

Truth be told, he doesn't remember what happened next; he can vaguely recall hearing sirens, and the next thing he knew, he was waking up in the hospital two days later. Turns out he should've been focused on slowing his own blood loss as well, the Dingus.

Eddie woke up three days after him, as his wounds were much more extensive and required more time to heal. Someone named Dr. Owens came and politely shoved a stack of NDA's towards the whole Party, in exchange for clearing Eddie's name. Nancy tore him a proverbial new one and negotiated for a solid 9 minutes before he caved and promised full medical coverage for monster-related issues (including extensive therapy for those who so wish), as well as monetary compensation for any property damage brought upon by the Upside Down (and she would know if they were shortchanged, this girl took AP Econ in the tenth grade).

When Eddie was finally allowed visitors, Steve was the last in line to see him. He barely knew the man for crying out loud, why should he get to go before the guy's actual friends? So he waited. He was used to waiting. He could wait.

It was driving him up the fucking walls, though.

Once it was his turn, he almost-ALMOST chickened out. It doesn't count as chickening out if you get your shit together at the last second. Robin (bless her weary soul) held his hand physically and emotionally all the way to the door. He'd told her, because of fucking course he told her, she's the best friend he's ever had and he can't hide a thing from her all-seeing eyes. Right. He could do this. Okay.

Thank you for being so patient with me folks. This is my first time writing anything fandom-wise that's longer than like a couple hundred words and it's a lot harder than it used to be before the brain damage. Sorry for the wait and that this is a bit shorter than the other ones; I'm working on it and hopefully it should be Finished by the end of Saturday night :)))

1. What is your home/town/city like?

It's funny, because my block is like where Leave It To Beaver could've taken place. It's so bucolic and everyone knows everyone, and there are flowering trees, and people helping people, and muffin baskets, and gardening and holiday decorations. But then like 10 minutes out of my little hamlet is...the ghetto. Love my town.

2. Have you been abroad? Where?

I haven't really. I mean, I have family all over the goddamned place but since 9/11 I have plane/train anxiety. Hopefully someday. I mean, my dream school is not in the U.S. And I want to act and perform all over the world. So hopefully someday.

Glee things. Jamaican booty music. Rock. Motown. Stuff like that. Eclectic, right?

Yes. And she's gorgeous!

Technically I don't have a teacher rn ;D But soon I will have like these two peeps, idk, I've met one and he's fuckin awesome. My mam says he looks like a pudding, so that's what I always think XD He's short (shorter than my mother and she's like five foot two) and overweight but he's adorable and he's kinda old I think with grey hair and glasses and Grandpa clothes.
