I'm putting this here and the slinking away like a stray cat leaving a dead mouse on your doorstep.

"What are you doing up?" Link asked. He sat up in bed, rubbing at his eyes to try and get a better look around. He thought he could see a small figured curled up in the shadows, but it was too dark to be certain.

"Nothing," Mask muttered in response.

Link sighed. "Did you have a nightmare?" He reached for a nearby lamp, lighting it to fill the tent with a warm glow.

He stood up to take a step towards Mask, but promptly froze in place.

"Sprite?"

The boy in the corner wasn't his brother.

It certainly looked like Mask, but everything was off. This boy was dressed in all black. He glared at the Captain with blood red eyes. His grey face was framed with silver hair.

Link knew a dark when he saw one, but the last thing he expected was to see one in the shape of his baby brother.

"What are you doing here?" The Captain's tone was sharp now, angry with the knowledge that this threat was in his tent pretending to be someone he loved. He took a step closer, every muscle prepared to attack.

Mask—Dark Link—the creature hissed, huddling back against the corner. "I'm not doing anything, idiot!"

"Then get out of my tent before I make you," Link countered.

The thinly veiled threat must have done the trick because after a tense moment, Dark Mask warily stood up and slunk towards the tent flap.

As the creature moved past, the Captain grabbed it by an arm. He stared at it in fury, wanting to tell the being never to come back, to leave the camp and crawl back to Ganon where it belonged, but something made him pause.

The boy's skin was hot to the touch, slick with sweat. He was breathing too fast and too heavily.

He had sneezed earlier that night.

Suddenly, all Link could see was his sick little brother staring up at him, and something inside him softened.

Fanart based off a comment on Steel Can't Carry Me Now by @elle-rosewater (eliotrosewater on Ao3). Alternatively, my live reaction when Jojo confirmed that Warriors did not, in fact, meet a younger Time (Mask) during the War of Eras. It's still canon in my heart IT'S STILL CANON IN MY HEART

One day I'll learn to not overdo things. This was supposed to be a little sketch. I ended up spending a full night on it and subsequently ignoring studying. 😬 ONE DAY I will learn moderation. Not today though!

I did spare myself the torture of rendering Time's armor, though. I was halfway through when I paused and wondered why I would ever do this to myself on what was supposed to be a funny doodle LOL

I think........ keeping my handwriting neat was a form of torture. It gave me hand cramps. I am a cursive scribbler at heart

LU Time, Fierce, and Mask all wearing 'cool' sunglasses, suggested by @vicmillen !

It took me forever to move from step to step because the idea of Fierce wearing bright yellow flower sunnies without acknowledging them continues to make me giggle

(the flowers/grass are a brush in clipstudio thank frick im not that ready to go that ham on bgs freehand yet and it felt wrong to have them all floating in space)

((also also, I have a ko-fi right now as well. i am hopping between free requests and hopefully commissions soonish)

Fierce's face is a rather neutral/stoic expression. He is wearing a small pair of children's flower sunglasses, which are obscuring his opened eyes.

Drew something a bit different this time ^^

I know I said not to think too deeply about it on my last Mask and Fi drawing [THIS] but... I thought too deeply about it, augh. Their relationship is so complicated but I wanted to show another side of it. Hopefully I managed it here.

Fi may not have understood the animosity Mask showed towards her back in the war, but that's not the case after everything. And even if they have a bond now (kind of) it's... messy. And it's not like Mask has the stones to open the door (nor does he think he should, what with what happened last time he did). So... yeah...

It's a bit bittersweet and there's still resentment there. Just. Complicated.

If we’re gonna headcanon the Links using slang from the time periods in which their games were released - ie Hyrule saying things like “groovy” - allow me to remind you as a millennial that Sky and Warriors (and Time as Mask) (and I guess Legend too) firmly fall within the “YOLO” era. Given that Link does not, in fact, only live once, please do with this information as you will.
