Desmond develops chronic migraines from the animus like the really bad kind. The ones where you pass out and wake up in Pain™️

Desmond is weirdly good at singing, but he never tells anyone, and most of the time, when he sings around others, he does it ironically, so one day he is just humming a song and everyone is like "WTF YOU CAN SING?"

just woke up from a nap. recommend.

♡ as annoying as this is to her, lucy always falls asleep when she reads. it takes forever for her to get through a book! it's just so soothing, especially if the story is compelling and lulls her in... bonus points if she's on a train or in a car; the rocking motion will have her out like a light.

♡ levy has no trouble getting through books because it gets her excited, not tired. she doesn't let lucy forget this. she does, however, stay up until ungodly hours of the night to finish a story. gajeel, jet, droy, and lily have found her passed out over a book (or twenty) multiple times. I think she's always buzzing with energy or curiosity, so one of the only ways for levy to settle in is if gajeel literally lies on top of her like a weighted blanket.

♡ speaking of, gajeel is very neutral about naps. he doesn't actively seek them out, mostly because he's one of the few members of the guild who has a relatively normal sleep schedule. he is, however, soft as hell. levy and lily always nap on him. wendy will nap on him. juvia will nap on him. gajeel looks scary asf if he glares, so no one will bother whoever's sleeping by his side. he is also actually very squishy if he relaxes his muscles. 10/10 pillow.

♡ cana naps like nobody's business. she goes out at night, stays up late drinking or partying, and crashes at 3am in gray or loke's bed. there is no "schedule" to sleeping so she will sleep whenever and wherever. cana has the uncanny ability to fall asleep anywhere. slumped over a table in a guild hall while natsu and gray throw chairs at each other? out like a light. lying on a freezing cold bench while her and lucy wait for a train? snoring away. (lucy pulls cana's head into her lap.) cana rarely falls asleep in an actual bed, though. if she does, it's because she's dead tired, and she's been incentivized by cuddles.

♡ natsu looooves a good nap. him and happy cat nap all the time. this might actually be the only consistent thing in their schedules: nap. the entire guild knows, courtesy of mirajane, to stfu for a bit when 1 o'clock hits. they don't actually need to, because natsu could sleep through a storm, but it's the thought that counts. natsu is also really warm and cuddly, which means that he's the perfect napping buddy. being buried in his warm arms, snug as a bug with happy between you... truly the dream.

♡ gray hates naps. hates them!! all because he wakes up the way you wake up from an after-school nap: sweaty, dizzy, disoriented, in a different dimension, with an overwhelming sense of dread. he reveals this one night when he and lucy are plastered at a bar, and that he's slightly jealous of natsu. lucy resolves to fix this, and when they're both blackout drunk she drags him into bed with her. not quite a nap, but hey, gray woke up feeling nice.

♡ sting might be the only character in the fairy tail universe that goes to bed at 10pm. his sleep schedule is on point, so he doesn't really nap unless he's exhausted from running sabertooth's infirmary. he will snuggle up in a square of sunlight with lector and snooze away.

♡ what is a nap? minerva doesn't nap. she doesn't need to rest during the day, she has things to do, what are you talking about- oh. oh. I think sabertooth has a very luxurious library, and minerva knocks out on one of the plush purple couches. more often than not, frosch will worm their way into her arms. the only people who dare to mention her naps are yukino (who minerva has a soft spot for) and sting (who has no sense of self-preservation).

So something interesting I’ve noticed is how people treat Lockwood’s character especially how they handle his obvious suicidal tendencies. I mean, Winkman picked up on it within literal minutes of meeting the kid it’s not like he’s hiding it well, but anyways

George: George treats Lockwood’s tendencies as something you have to work around. He doesn’t really like it, but he doesn’t try to hard to stop it farther than telling Lucy she has to be able to tell him no or she’ll “make him worse”. We see this and we know George cares about him a whole deal and we know that they’ve been bets tied for a while now and yet George hardly knows anything personal about Lockwood. George doesn’t extend a helping hand so Lockwood doesn’t attempt to take it

Kipps: We all see how Kipps treats Lockwood’s disregard for life. He believes that there is no saving Lockwood and the best thing they could do is let him kill himself before he drags someone down with him, which we see when he talks to Lucy saying “you don’t know what he’s really like” and something along the lines of “you better leave before he drags you down with him”. Kipps not only doesn’t extend that helping hand but he takes it and runs from Lockwood as fast as he can, and so Lockwood doesn’t even pretend to like him (plus he’s a bit of a jerk but they’re all jerks Lockwood just has a tolerance for some of them)

Lucy: And here’s where it gets interesting. Unlike the others she doesn’t run away or dance around the problem, she looks it dead in the eyes and tells it to stop. She offers Lockwood her hand again and again and each time she does it Lockwood gets a little closer to taking it because each time she does it is a time no one else tried. Everyone had given up on him, decided that he was a lost cause and his fate was sealed, but Lucy just wouldn’t stop and so when she offered her helping hand, Lockwood took it. Yeah he doesn’t quite know what to do with it now that he has it but the fact that he took it is what important. It’s why she was only there for a couple months or so and he was opening that door when George couldn’t even ask about it after a year of living with the man

The reason why I love Lucy and Lockwood together so much is this. It’s because Lucy never gave up on him and it gave Lockwood hope in himself. The two make each other better people and that’s amazing

I love it so much, its unfortunately got some rough spots especially at the start with the character daiya. But as for the story at whole its really great

Its about a man who wakes up with no memories of you he is, where he came from, or why he was buried in the dirt. It's about the journey of this man as he discorves who he was to those around him before he lost his memories. It's about a man deciding who he wants to be in an ocean of perspectives of his character from others.

It's about family and the unbreakable bond with your mother no matter where you go and what happens. Even if that means doing things that no one else will understand or even hate you for doing.

Older Drarry makes me so emo because neither of them probably thought they’d live past seventeen. Hell, even after the war, Harry couldn’t shake off the feeling of death looming over him, like nothing came out of life more than death and death and death because it was all he had ever known of.

And after nearly three years in Azkaban, the stench of death and the trace of lost souls lingered with Draco, accompanying him on his daily walks through the Manor's withering rose gardens.

However, the older versions of Harry and Draco get to spend their days in Spain basking in the sun, and their wrinkled skin is covered with more than just scars. On Harry's hands, freckles sprawled like constellations, and a dragon tattoo roars to life on Draco's torso.

Draco's hair is more silver than blond, whereas Harry's hair and beard are all salt and pepper. Nightmares are long-forgotten memories replaced by dreams of having five seven children coming to fruition. They were stay-at-home dads for a while (which is perhaps the only time Harry has ever felt grateful rather than embarrassed about his astounding fortune). Until the children have grown up and moved on with their lives.

Now, Draco is a poet and Harry is an artist, both under pseudonyms. Without the rest of the world knowing, they are each other's muse. They have died and lived for each other in secret and their love is the most sacred thing they have ever held in the palm of their hands.

Harry no longer regrets coming back from the dead and Draco no longer resents himself for spending all those years hating Harry rather than loving him.

Draco, however, still scolds Harry for making his tea not scalding enough, to which Harry only rolls his eyes at. Harry still cuts his sandwiches into triangles because it makes ‘more bread’, which doesn’t make sense to Draco and probably never will.

Older Draco and Harry get to live the life they deserve and so much more. They get to watch a hundred more sunrises and a thousand more sunsets and the stars in the sky have woven into newer and more complex constellations just for them.

The road to all is well was a long one, but neither Draco nor Harry would change a thing.

Between Lucy telling Mina all about her three weed smoking suitors, a little line made itself into the paper that I overlooked last year.

This line right here implies that something is happening to Lucy, more deep than simple gossip.

"but you must keep it a secret, dear, from every one, except, of course, Jonathan." - Lucy Westenra, may 24.

We get a mention for Jonathan, and it's a good one since Lucy considers that Mina shouldn't hide this from him. Moreover, aside for Lucy seeing Mina and Jonathan's upcoming marriage as something to imitate, the addition "of course" reads that Jonathan would be the only man who could understand Lucy's urgency in the secret without judging her.

Yet, what does Lucy mean when she tells Mina "from every one"? Everyone, as in every single person in their social sphere? Mina can tell Jonathan, but nothing to anyone else, and Lucy hasn't tell anyone either? Because this implies that Lucy herself is hiding these proposals from her own parents.

I had the first impression that maybe these proposals were arranged by Lucy's parents, or her mother if we take the stereotypical "mother takes care of daughter's love life" route. Yet, the more I re-read, there is not a single mention of either mother nor father.

Hell Quincey made his proposal to Lucy while they were alone with eachother! Alone! No company at all. Jack's proposal was made with only the two of them too. Plus, Arthur also managed to get Lucy alone (and chosen) and yet no mention of parents in the horizon.

Lucy is an incredible girl, yet one of her flaws is that she worries a bit too much about her image to other people. So, this could imply that Lucy could be eager to impress her parents (or her mother) with her proposals, and her final choice, if they were mentioned at all.

Just saw The Last Voyage of The Demeter. It's possibly the best movie I've seen this summer but considering the majority of releases this year, it's like being one of the tallest dwarves.

There were some major changes I was ok with becuase it's an adaptation and somethings will have to be changed and some major changes that I completely despised.

It would also be more accurate to say the movie was inspired by the Ship's Log than it being based on the log. It's probably really good if you're not heavily inversted in the source material, and are also at least tipsy or gently high. If you are heavily invested in the source material and not under any influences, it's a solid B- or B+ monster movie but doesn't crack an A-.

SPOILERS BELOW

They added a child and stowaway to the crew. The kid's name was Toby and was the Captain's grandson, he was presumably added so Dracula can drain and turn him for additional tragedy points and doesn't make it. The stowaway's name is Anna and she was in one of the boxed of earth, it broke open during a storm and she fell out with some of the dirt. She was apparently sacrificed to Dracula as part of a treaty between her old village and Dracula, she also turns into a vampire and doesn't make it.

There is one survivor of the voyage, an English doctor (Clemens) who's goal is to find and kill Dracula. He's kinda interesting but probably not enough to get them the sequal they're clearly leaving the door open for.

The crew knows that A, there was at least one person in the boxes and B, that there is some creature on board that's killing the crew basically a day after they leave port. Some crew members actually see Dracula the same day they find Anna. Them having this infromation so early really raises some questions about why they didn't open all the crates and stir the dirt to make sure there weren't any other surprises, and also makes the first mate look really stupid that he refuses to acknowledge that there's clearly something wrong. In making this change they unintentionally removed a lot of the psychological torment that Dracula puts them through in the early stages of the arc.

And then there's Dracula's design/powers. So in the log he's described as tall, thin, pale, and, most important for this rant, a man. In the movie he's this withered, gargoyle-esce, thing with gray skin, long ass fingers and fucking wings. He's also always naked. Like for nearly the whole movie, he's not wearing a single fucking scrap of fabric on his old wrinkled nasty ass body. The only time's he's clothed is the literal last scene where Clemens sees and follows him. His powers are also noticably changed. He's only mist once during the final fight instead of being mist for several days and completely preventing them from knowing where the fuck they are or what time it is. He's always flying around and landing on people to eat them and spill like half the blood in the process like a child who doesn't undertand silverware yet. The sun makes vampires catch on fire too, like "bathed in gasoline and lit a match" catching on fire, which doesn't track with the source material at all.

The final thing they changed is the Captain's death. Instead of lashing himself to the wheel and holding a rosary/praying to prevent Dracula from messing with him as he dies and steering the Demeter to shore afterwards, he's tied to the wheel in a crucifix pose (by Dracula? Idk scene was full of cuts so it's not clear), gets untied by Clemens and them slumps against the wheel with a very loose rope around his waist as his only connection to it. That's how they interpreted that man's death. Sitting down leaning on the wheel and talking to someone becasue Anna and Clemens hadn't died yet. Changing that scene and it's context completely changes the meaning and themes of his death from a defiant grudging acception of fate and a fuck you to the creature that drove his crew mad and killed them, to a weak acquiescence to fate's cruel whims and Dracula's eventual success.

We're not even told how the ship got to shore, it just crashes into the beach by the harbor. Dracula was pinned to the mast by part of the rigging and the Captain certainly isn't pulling off any post mortem sailing.

I swear it feels like the editors had this conversation; "How did it get to shore?" "Who cares, all that it matters is that it did right? It's not like people are deeply invested in this book and this arc specifically." "Yeah, no one will care, they probably won't even notice that it doesn't make sense."

Like I know things would be changed but I didn't thing they'd tamper with the most powerful and thematically important scene and its consiquences that stick with people long after the arc is over.
