Beleriand. Fingon has not forgiven Maedhros.

It's not as if he has no reason to be mad at Maedhros, himself cannot still comprehend why he had risked his life to save him. Still, it is a funny thing to notice how Findekáno - well no, Fingon - will twist sentences just to avoid naming Maedhros' names.

Himself isn't sure about his Sindarin version, but he is now avert to his amilessë, never liked his ataressë for the loaded weapon it had been. As for his epessë? Certainly, he had loved it, still do, for it was given in love and gentle care.

Fingon will not say it anymore though. A relic of their past, of what was once tender. Gone and filled with resentment. And so the now High Prince, who has to suffer Maedhros' unlovely appearance during Court sessions the few times he is allowed to go and/or attend, will entertain various manner of speech that will not force him to directly adress his half-cousin.

Maedhros himself isn't quite certain of what he feels, but then again, such is the case since his return from the Mountain. Pain had been for Maitimo. That wretched emotion that had torn his heart that afternoon in Tirion after his father's summon. When Findekáno, furious and accusing, had thrown the silver band he had worn around his neck - secret at it had been - at Maitimo before walking out.

Maedhros doesn't feel much lately. Aside from the constant physical pain in his back and shoulder. It certainly is some sort of twisted blessing he thinks, watching the cold indifference on Fingon's face.

Given the nature of the Tolkien fandom and just tumblr in general I’m gonna go ahead and assume you guys have heard of Patrochilles. And so I would like to take a moment and consider the very reasonable and normal question of who is the Achilles and who is the Patroclus of Russingon. On the one hand the Nirnaeth Arnoediad followed directly by Maedhros’ descent into insanity is very Achilles coded. He blames himself for his death, there’s the whole devotion thing, Fingon being a ray of sunshine and the only good thing in Nelyo’s world, Maedhros having Feanorian related pride and stubbornness etc. This post, like Maehdros, has no other hand. That’s it that’s all I’ve got. Fingon is a Patroclus and Maedhros is an Achilles.

All I’m saying is that there’s a reason Achilles Come Down is on pretty much every Maedhros playlist I’ve seen. As it should be
