Did you meet other AIs aside from rolling stock or just see them from afar?
Firetrucks, Cranes, semitrucks, tow trucks ... hmm..even smaller... ? surveillance and security, pest control, food and package delivery couriers!
semis, food delivery, and mailbots were some I saw the most often. On a basic level we are all similar, our AI's basis came from one firm..it's work was then used by others and specialized into different types like Engines or those mailmen AIs.
-i smile- was that good?

The USPS' partnership with Zip! Robotics did not end at their first autonomous vehicle. A couple years after the release of the MailBot, Zip! Robotics and the USPS started to do some test runs of their new MailBot XL. This is a much larger, heavier-duty robotic vehicle designed to carry packages. Like its little brother, it contains a full suite of sensors and cameras allowing it to autonomously navigate even the windiest of suburbia. However, it is not an unmanned vehicle. Because packages come in all shapes and sizes, a human associate is still required to ride aboard and bring the packages to the doorstep (don't worry, there's a window and a door on the other side of the vehicle). The USPS says they hope to finish testing within the next few months, with a pilot program beginning in Arizona (a hotbed for self-driving car testing).

I was so happy to see @mattmcguigan's latest robot drawings that I wanted to make something!
It's meant to be read in the same soft tone I get from his comics.... I know it's not that great! I just wanted to do it! I hope it conveys what I mean.
They have a lil baby backstory: their wobbly antennae are a bit wonky and their mouth is a slot where Valentines comes out. They'd probably be good friends with mailbot!
It could probably be a full robot but I kinda like the idea of one sitting on a desk. Just like that. Just as a head. They're happy, they just like giving people Valentines.
Either way!! Thank you Matt! Your art helps me a lot and I wanted to try to give something back.

i finally settled on a proper new theme for the Torchbearers in my AU.
in this AU, they were formerly part of Cybertron’s mail and delivery service. sure, in real life, postal worker uniforms aren’t teal and orange... but they’re alien robots who cosplay as cars. go with it? at some point, i’m going to redo the designs i did for them so their alt modes reflect that.
i’m still torn between what’s the best fittingly on-the-nose team name for them. i like ‘Postagebots’ but... that sounds too close to the Protectobots. i might go w/ Mailbots.
this results in:
construction workers (Constructicons) vs. postal workers (Mailbots?)
military/mercenaries (Combaticons) vs. search and recuse team (Protectobots)
asshole teenagers who are cars (Stunticons) vs. asshole teenagers who are airplanes (Aerialbots)
fantasy space monsters (Terrorcons) vs. sci-fi space researchers (Technobots)

Top: USPS MailBot self-driving mail delivery unit
Bottom: Mailbox with specially-designed scannable code on it
Sometime in the late 2030's, the USPS decided to fully automate the delivery of mail in suburbia. Due to increasingly strict FAA laws, drone delivery was becoming less and less feasible, so they turned to San Francisco startup Zip! Robotics to implement a ground-based solution. The result was the Zip! Robotics MailBot, a self-driving mail delivery unit designed for suburban neighborhoods. Capable of holding just a little less than a Grumman LLV, the MailBot has a full suite of sensors allowing it to safely drive on suburban roads without any human intervention (although remote operation is possible in an emergency situation). On the top side of the vehicle, it has a set of high-res computer vision cameras which scan a specially-designed QR-style code affixed to the front of a mailbox. The code contains vital information such as the house address, delivery scheduling info, and the location of the mail slot relative to the code. The mail, which is stored in pre-sorted slots inside of the vehicle, is transferred in batches to a robotic arm which extends and places the mail into the slot. As of now, the vehicle is currently restricted to letter-sized mail, but a package-compatible version is currently in development.

Dispatch the Mailbot.
A little about: he is bashful, kind, a scaredy bot, a weakling, and is of average intelligence.
