I'm still here! Sharing here another two sets of portraits 😁

Some of you might be already familiar with this characters but for those who aren't, keep reading.

For the 3rd set, we have:

1.) Hortense McDuck - the mother of Donald and Della.

2.) Quackmore Duck - the father of Donald and Della.

3.) Fanny Coot - the mother of Gus Goose.

4.) Luke Goose - the father of Gus Goose.

5.) Elvira Coot - Donald's grandmother.

6.) Humperdink Duck - Donald's grandfather.

7.) Cuthbert Coot - Donald's cousin, the son of Casey Coot and Gretchen Grebe.

8.) Gus Goose - Donald's second cousin.

— Cuthbert Coot is a creation of Carl Barks. Gus Goose first appeared in a 1939 animated short, "Donald's Cousin Gus" in which Barks is one of it's writers. Hortense McDuck, Quackmore Duck, Fanny Coot, Luke Goose and Humperdink Duck are created by Don Rosa based on earlier works (such as Mark Worden's family tree). Elvira Coot was created by Al Taliaferro and Bob Karp as Grandma Duck with Don Rosa later establishing her real name.

For the 4th set, which is just a redo of half of the portraits of my Gearloose family tree, we have:

1.) Martha Bird - the wife of Ratchet Gearloose.

2.) Anastasia Anatryn - the wife of Copernicus Gearloose.

3.) Gyro Gearloose - a well-known inventor of Duckburg, a friend to Donald and Scrooge.

4.) Fulton Gearloose - Gyro's father.

5.) Galileo Gearloose - Gyro's cousin, descendant of Cartesius Gearloose.

6.) Newton Gearloose - Gyro's nephew.

7.) Copernicus Gearloose - Gyro's great-grandfather, an accomplice of John Quackett/Fantomius.

8.) Cartesius Gearloose - Gyro's great-granduncle, the evil twin of Copernicus.

— Gyro Gearloose is a creation of Carl Barks while his father, Fulton, is of Don Rosa's. Martha Bird, Anastasia Anatryn, Galileo Gearloose, Copernicus Gearloose and Cartesius Gearloose are all created by Marco Gervasio. Newton Gearloose is a creation of Vic Lockman.

Note : Some of the portraits here were previously used in my other tree though if look closely, they're different. It is because I've changed it a bit. There's a chance that I might do it again which means that the portraits here are not the final version.

What would you say the most major differences between comics!Goldie (you can specify different comic writers if you want) and DT17!Goldie are?

I'd say the biggest difference between DT17!Goldie and her comic versions is the call to adventure. Though every comic writer writes Goldie differently, what's consistent is that she settled down after the Klondike, stayed in the area, kept things simple (sometimes successfully, sometimes unsuccessfully, depending on the writer). Which is fine, but doesn't fit the vibe of DT17 so it makes sense that they did something different.

It's hard to talk about the different comic writer depictions of Goldie because most of them have only written her once, maybe twice. Don Rosa is the exception, of course. Carl Barks only wrote her once, and Rosa's version strays from that a tiny bit (as much as he didn't want it to). I think it's obvious that Rosa wanted to write Goldie as a more present character, he wanted to include her in more things, but he didn't want to contradict Barks' canon so he didn't. But you can tell that he writes Goldie with the idea that she has a whole life of her own without Scrooge.

The writer with the second-most credits for stories with Goldie in them is Marco Nucci, but tbh that's just because he does a lot of Christmas stories. Mostly takes place during the gold rush, the stories don't always fit the Barks/Rosa timeline but they just fit into the setting.

Next highest number of Goldie writing credits is Marco Gervasio, but most of those are cameos. He did write the really beautiful and excellent story King of the Klondike but as for how that comic fits with others................I mean. I love it, personally. Gervasio followed Rosa's thought process - he wrote a story about Scrooge and Goldie, instead of a story about Scrooge that has Goldie in it. It's more interesting and more memorable.

Otherwise writers have only written Goldie stories once or twice, and most of them just focus on the past. Gold rush-era Goldie content tends to be consistent across the board, and repetitive, and often Goldie's role is small. The ones where she has a bigger role we get the basic Scrooge/Goldie content - lots of romantic/sexual tension, lots of arguing, some sort of misunderstanding or lie. And then usually older!Scrooge staring at a photo of her and sighing.

As for present-day Goldie stories, the most consistent things are that she's still very tricky, still very horny, and still very prideful (though less so in Rosa's stories). Tricky, horny, & prideful I think are the big Goldie traits that need to be present for her to feel in-character.

Soooo tl;dr as for differences from DT17, yeah the big thing is the call for adventure. All differences in her personal story and personality can be tied directly to that specific aspect.

Why isn't she more mature at her age? 'Cause she's been running around trying to one up Scrooge instead of settling down and working on herself. Why isn't she running a hotel in Dawson City? 'Cause she's been running around trying to one up Scrooge instead of staying in one place.

We got to know a lot about Goldie's personality in DT17 but not much about her life, which leaves a lot of room for headcanons but also leaves us wanting. But it left enough room that we can pretty easily take content from her comic selves and combine them with her cartoon self without any contradiction and that works pretty nicely for me.

Anyway anyway. Sorry. I keep getting distracted. Adventure is the big difference. Which is fitting since DT17 also wrote Scrooge with more emphasis on his adventuring spirit because they knew that'd be a more interesting story for animation than focusing too much on the money. Good to make them match, and it also stretched out an already iconic love story into 120 years of drama. And also gave us Scheme Team which I am forever thankful for. I miss 'em. I miss Goldie...........

La Commissione nominata dal sindaco Marco Scaramellini, che comprende i tre ex primi cittadini, Alberto Frizziero, Bianca Bianchini e Alcide Molteni, tra le diverse candidature pervenute, tutte di elevato profilo, ha condiviso di assegnare il premio "Ligari d'argento" 2023 a Gemma Simonini, classe 1945, infermiera professionale fino alla pensione e volontaria da sempre. Una vita spesa per gli altri, per le persone in difficoltà senza famiglia né casa, promotrice del Centro di prima accoglienza, volontaria della Caritas ma anche consigliere comunale per quattro legislature, dal 1994 al 2018, e presidente della Commissione Servizi sociali. Da quest'anno è impegnata nel "Progetto Betlemme" per dare ospitalità la notte a persone prive di alloggio. Gemma Simonini succede a Maria Pia Bongiascia, insegnante e volontaria della parrocchia Beata Vergine del Rosario, premiata nel 2022. Il premio è stato assegnato con la seguente motivazione. «Nata a Ponte Valtellina il 13 dicembre 1945, residente a Sondrio, è sposata ed è nonna. Dopo 21 anni di attività ospedaliera, infermiera di sala operatoria, presso l’Ospedale civile di Sondrio, ha lavorato alla Casa di Riposo di Ponte in Valtellina. Ha iniziato la sua l’attività di volontariato presso la Parrocchia dei S.S. Gervasio e Protasio di Sondrio dove si occupa ancora oggi dell’assistenza ai numerosi parroci che nel frattempo si sono susseguiti e della pulizia della chiesa stessa. Per otto anni è stata corresponsabile, con il marito, della Casa di Prima Accoglienza. È proprio grazie a lei che è stato realizzato il Centro di Prima Accoglienza per rispondere ai bisogni che erano presenti in città. Fantomius before Gervasio

Before Marco Gervasio had revamped Fantomius in 2007, Andreas Pihl and Mardon Smet (sorry for butchering the danish spelling) had imagined a return of the character (who at the times had never been featured in Disney stories) to meet his heir, the Duck Avenger. The story, titled "The Legacy", spawned a trilogy, in which we are presented to an ally of the gentleman thief, but very different from Dolly Paprika.

But why talking about stories that have nearly nothing to do with Pk?

Well, the mood of those stories owe a lot to Pkna. Paperinik rocks a glove which resembles a lot the extransformer and Fantomius himself looks very much like Uno and has a similar backstory to Everett Ducklair (regarding a self-imposed exile in a monastery in the Far East).

The first story was published in the US in 2006, while the trilogy was published in Italy 2009-2010 (not in order). In the italian translation Fantomius was changed into an executor of the will of the original Fantomius, probably because the Fantomius italian readers were accostumed to was quite different from the one described by Pihl and Smet.

For this set, we have :

1.) Marie Lamont-Quackett - the mother of John Quackett, a Parisian.

2.) Duke Andrew Quackett - the father of John Quackett.

3.) Howard Quackett - the grandfather of John Quackett.

4.) Henry Quackett - the brother of John Quackett, he was the architect behind Villa Rosa and Notre Duck.

5.) John Quackett - the fabled Fantomius, the predecessor to Duck Avenger.

6.) Dolly Duck - known by her alter ego, Dolly Paprika. She is the partner of Fantomius.

7.) Margaret Duck - Dolly Duck's sister. She is a famous dancer.

8.) Richard Quackett - ancestor to the Quackett nobility, he is better known as the "Mad Duke".

• All names here came from Marco Gervasio's stories about Fantomius. The character of Fantomius originated from the original Duck Avenger stories by Guido Martina.

• Richard Quackett came from a Carl Barks story, though he was referred only by "Mad Duke". Gervasio later provided the name.

CONQUISTA URUGUAYA

La República Oriental del Uruguay, fue descubierta por España en 1516. Hasta aquel momento el territorio que actualmente constituye Uruguay había estado habitado por indígenas y entre las etnias más famosas se encontraban los indios Charrúas, además de los Guenoas, Minuanes, Bohanes, Arachanes y Chanáes.El rey español Fernando V de España envía una expedición bajo el mando de Juan Díaz de Solís quien descubrió un ancho río que más tarde se conocería como Río de la Plata (febrero de 1516), tomando posesión en nombre de la Corona Española. La expedición de colonos españoles fue atacada por los indígenas.

Años después, en 1520 el navegante Fernando de Magallanes, llega al Río de la Plata y fondea en una bahía desde la cual se divisaba un cerro el cual al ser avistado por el vigía de barco español exclamó ” Monte vide eu” (un monte vi yo), pasado muchos años se fundaría en aquel lugar la ciudad de Montevideo.

En la etapa de la colonización, Uruguay recibía el nombre de Banda Oriental. Durante dicho periodo en Enero de 1680 se establecieron en la zona meridional colonos portugueses. Y más de un siglo tuvo que pasar para que en 1798 y entre 1806 y 1807 los ingleses protagonizaran invasiones en el Río de la Plata. Configurándose así la Banda Oriental, como una plaza colonial muy deseada tanto por españoles, portugueses e ingleses.

La Capital Montevideo, fue fundada por el gobernador de Buenos Aires, Bruno Mauricio de Zabala, en Diciembre de 1726 como ciudad fortificada, con el fin de frenar la expansión portuguesa hacia el Río de la Plata.

Durante este periodo colonial, las ideas independentistas de la población, fueron tomando forma en una población con una gran conciencia de nación alejada del yugo colonial.

Artigas en la Ciudadela

Dicho sentimiento de independencia encontró en José Gervasio Artigas (19 Junio de 1764, 23 de Setiembre 1850) a su referente; convirtiéndose en el fundador del nacionalismo uruguayo,llegando a ser, el “Jefe de los Orientales”.

Un acontecimiento crucial tendría lugar en 1810 con la Revolución de Mayo, durante el levantamiento de las provincias del Río de la Plata. Más tarde, el 28 de Febrero de 1811 con el Grito de Asencio,

un contingente de revolucionarios comandados por Pedro José Viera, decide emprender las primeras acciones revolucionarias contra las autoridades españolas de Montevideo. Tras Artigas, como bastión, marchó todo un pueblo, conformando el ejército artiguista que obtuvo su más importante victoria militar contra los españoles en la Batalla de Las Piedras el 18 de Mayo de 1811.

Además de las luchas contra los españoles, se abren nuevos frentes contra los portugueses que invaden el territorio uruguayo; así, en 1816 presionando a los ejércitos artiguistas, se alternan triunfos y fracasos, hasta la victoria de las tropas portuguesas en Enero de 1820. Durante la época de dominio portugués hasta 1828, el territorio uruguayo recibiría el nombre de Provincia Cisplatina.

Un hecho relevante, tuvo lugar cuando Artigas el que un día había sido proclamado como “Protector de los Pueblos Libres” decide abandonar su liderazgo civil y militar en Setiembre de 1820, cuando por desavenencias con sus aliados, se exilia al Paraguay, donde fallece el 23 de Setiembre de 1850.

El 19 de abril de 1825 el desembarco de los “Treinta y Tres Orientales”, bajo el mando del jefe artiguista Juan Antonio Lavalleja y su unión con los patriotas que les aguardaban enarbolando su bandera de “Libertad o Muerte”, marcó el inicio de una victoria que culminará en la declaratoria de la Independencia el 25 de Agosto de 1825.

Este proceso independentista, concluyó con la constitución del Estado Oriental del Uruguay, el 8 de Octubre de 1828 tras la firma del Tratado, en el marco de la Convención Preliminar de Paz.

El 18 de julio de 1830 se jura la primera Constitución de la República, siendo el primer Presidente constitucional el General Fructuoso Rivera. El siguiente en la presidencia será Manuel Oribe, uno de los jefes de los “Treinta y Tres Orientales“.

Ambos líderes constituyen los orígenes de los Partidos Colorado y Blanco, conformando así el origen de sistema político uruguayo.

Más tarde, la Constitución de 1918, sería la que consagraría el nombre actual de República Oriental del Uruguay.Esta acaba en 1821

Romics 2023 a Roma

Il Romics festeggerà dal 30 marzo al 2 aprile alla Fiera di Roma la XXX edizione, e in materia di anniversari ce ne sono diversi nell'ambito della manifestazione, articolata in cinque padiglioni per trecentocinquanta espositori, con incontri, concorsi e tante occasioni per condividere fumetto, cinema, arti multimediali grazie anche a Paolo Barbieri, protagonista di una mostra a tema fiabe e mitologie, autore del manifesto ufficiale. Katja Centomo è tra i Romics d'Oro di Romics XXX e fa rientrare la sua attività multimediale tra fumetto, animazione e direzione artistica sotto il nome di narrazione transmediale. Dei Romics d'Oro saranno insigniti anche il disegnatore catalano Marcos Martín (Batman, Dr. Strange, The Walking Dead), l’italiano Manuele Fior (Cinquemila chilometri al secondo, Le variazioni d’Orsay, I giorni della merla, La signorina Else e Rosso Oltremare e L’intervista, più l'ultimo graphic novel Hypericon) e John Howe, illustratore e concept artist per Il Signore degli anelli e Lo Hobbit di Peter Jackson, Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ancora una volta il disegnatore Disney Marco Gervasio proporrà una cover variant di Topolino in occasione del Romics e dell'albo che contiene la storia in due parti Paperugantino, dove Gastone è Meo Patacca e  Don Pasquale dei Bisognosi è Zio Paperone. Uno degli ambiti del fumetto più sottovalutati sarà venerdì 31 marzo al centro dell'incontro Il lettering del fumetto, arte e mestiere, in collaborazione con la Commissione Comics & Graphic Novels di AIE - Associazione Italiana Editori. Da notare che, oltre alla riproposta dell'Artist Alley dove gli autori potranno interagire liberamente col pubblico, sono previsti ospiti speciali, questa volta del calibro di Yudori (La conquista del cielo, per J-Pop Edizioni) e il campione del mondo di pallavolo Andrea Lucky Lucchetta, testimonial della serie animata Super Spike Ball, le cui nuove puntate saranno lanciate in un incontro. Vincenzo Mollica, già Romics d'Oro nella passata edizione, celebrerà i 40 anni del suo speciale per la RAI Letteratura disegnata dove, con ospiti illustri come Hugo Pratt e Federico Fellini, la televisione pubblica raccontò il mondo del fumetto d'autore. Il Movie Village della XXX edizione del Romics si tufferà nei 100 anni della Warner Bros  con una mostra di locandine storiche di film che coprono il periodo tra gli anni Cinquanta e Settanta, mentre  i ragazzi dello IED di Roma reinterpreteranno cento dei film più iconici della major, utilizzando tecniche diverse per le loro opere. Protagonisti di incontri e occasioni di intrattenimento saranno film in uscita come il fenomeno Cocainorso di Elizabeth Banks, l'anime The First Slamdunk, l'horror italiano Pantafa, Super Mario Bros. - Il film, più un focus sull'operazione di I tre moschettieri - D'Artagnan, articolata su lungometraggio, manga e romanzo tratto dalla sceneggiatura. Nel XXX Romics ci sono anche altre celebrazioni dai numeri imponenti, come i 45 anni di Goldrake in Italia, trasmesso per la prima volta nel 1978 e il maestro Vince Tempera e il dj Massimo Alberti festeggeranno dal vero il 2 aprile con Actarus - Ufo Robot (Beat Kong Remix), anche se il brano sarà già disponibile in digitale dal 31 marzo. Sono invece 40 gli anni di Holly & Benji, celebrate dai doppiatori storici Fabrizio Vidale (Holly), Giorgio Borghetti (Benji), in un incontro il 2 aprile con Fabio Bartoli e Mirko Fabbreschi.
