Actually, since we're talking about adaptation/remake of gothic media classics, I think AMC Interview with the Vampire managed to do what the others haven't ?? They kept the tone and story and cool gothic aesthetic while bringing new themes and re-actualizing the setting. That's how a good remake work, you have to bring something new to the table but you HAVE to keep what the fans like about the past adaptations.

female-targeted consumerism is so insidious even when you consider yourself educated on the matter and super alert oh my god....you'll go to the hairdressers and you'll get grilled for not using a million masks and keratin crystals and heat protectors. every corner of the internet will make you feel unkempt for not having 50 different steps and products in your skincare routine. hell, last week i went to a women's collective meeting and the host of the month was the owner of a very successful nail salon - and apparently the best way to upkeep your nails requires oils, balms, foams, moisturisers and about 10 different tools. and every single time i feel bad and worry that i'm not taking care of myself enough??? like if i were to listen to all these things where tf would i get money to actually LIVE
