Victoire volée de Ngannou

À l’issue d’un combat rude dans la nuit de samedi 28 à dimanche 29 octobre 0à Riyad, entre le champion du monde des poids lourds du MMA et le champion du monde des poids lourds de la boxe anglaise, Tyson Fury a été déclaré vainqueur par décision partagée face au boxeur camerounais Francis Ngannou.

Alors que personne n'imaginait le Predator faire le poids, il est finalement allé au bout des dix reprises en mettant en difficulté durant presque tout le combat, le boxeur anglais Tyson Fury. Malgré ce combat largement dominé par le lion indomptable de boxe, le britannique Fury a quand même été déclaré vainqueur. Une décision des juges très controversée par de nombreux fans de la boxe y compris les professionnels.

Le natif de Batié Francis Ngannou qui disputait à 37 ans son premier combat de boxe a prouvé au monde entier ses capacités dans deux disciplines. Après avoir envoyé le Britannique au tapis au troisième round, il a pu tenir tête au champion anglais jusqu’au 10 ème round, réalisant ainsi le plus grand exploit de l’histoire de la boxe.

Annoncé au départ défavorable pour le camerounais, la bataille a finalement été beaucoup plus serrée que prévu, Ngannou se montrant puissant et appliqué face à l’invincible Tyson Fury.

Nonobstant « cette défaite », l’ex-champion de l’UFC est resté vainqueur selon plusieurs fans qui se sont insurgés avec véhémence sur les réseaux sociaux.

« Je suis une bête blessée mais pas abattu, je suis prêt à combattre n’importe quand et je suis sûr que je vais m’améliorer » atteste le prédator. « C’était mon premier combat de boxe, c’était une expérience de rêve. Je vais travailler encore et revenir avec un peu plus de sensations et de connaissances. Au début, j’étais un peu nerveux, c’était un nouveau sport pour moi. Mais maintenant, je sais que je peux le faire, tenez-vous prêts » poursuit-il. Une posture qui montre indubitablement le degré d’assurance de l’ancien champion de MMA qui, désormais, s’imposera sur le terrain de la boxe anglaise.

Plusieurs observateurs estiment que la décision finale visait à sauver l’honneur et l’image de la boxe anglaise. Pour Mike Tyson qui l’a entrainé depuis plusieurs mois, « tout le monde connaît le résultat » Ce qui prouve une fois de plus que le vainqueur proclamé par les juges demeure discutable. Le boxeur camerounais a réussi ce que personne n’aurait pu imaginer, d’abord en résistant physiquement sur l’ensemble des dix rounds, surtout en envoyant sur le tapis dès la troisième reprise.

L’ancien journaliste de la radio France internationale, Alain Foka n’a pas tergiversé après l’issue du combat. Il a fait une sortie à travers sa page pour dénoncer l’injustice dont est victime Francis Ngannou face à l’anglais Tyson Fury : « Quelle honte, cette victoire donnée à Tyson Fury !!! Je ne sais pas si les juges ont regardé le même combat que nous. Ils ont vu qui est allé au tapis et a pris des coups. Qui paie commande n’est-ce pas ? une frustration de plus. Mais, Francis Ngannou a été magistral et très classe. Chacun ce soir sait qui était le patron sur le ring. « La vérité c’est comme les fesses. Qu’on les aime ou les déteste on finit par toujours par s’asseoir avec » Merci Francis tu es le meilleur.

Cela n’empêche pas que Tyson Fury soit un grand Monsieur. Seulement ce soir à la vérité, il sait qu’il a perdu. Dans ce monde quand on est black il faut mettre son adversaire KO pour être sûr d’être déclaré vainqueur.  Souviens-toi de cela pour le combat de revanche. » Cette position de l’homme des archives d’Afrique montre clairement que le lion indomptable est le vainqueur de ce combat. À la fin du combat, Francis Ngannou a fait savoir qu'il est prêt à remonter sur le ring au plus vite, comme pour laver l'affront d'une décision difficile à comprendre. « Vous savez, au début, j'étais un peu nerveux avec ce nouveau sport que je n'ai jamais pratiqué, que je ne sens pas vraiment. Maintenant, je sais que je peux le faire. Préparez-vous ! Le loup est dans la maison. Ce soir, j'ai senti l'eau et je connais maintenant la température. Je me prépare à revenir ici et à tout prendre. »

Hey hvordan går det? Jeg er okay. Jeg kan virkelig godt lide ideen om en sommervibe, tror jeg. Jeg var sammen med Anton i forgårs. Han hjalp med at bære ting for mig. Da jeg skrev og spurgte, svarede han “selvfølgelig”. Jeg hjalp ham med at bære et køleskab for 2 uger siden. Anton har altid hat på. Han siger, det slider håret af, og han burde lade være. Vores venner snakker om deres hårlinjer. Det føles virkelig mærkeligt, som om man er gammel. Jeg var ude med en ven i går. Vi mødte en han kyssede med sidste uge, selvom hun har en kæreste. Han havde det fucked med det, tror jeg. Hun drak vodka med sine venner. Jeg tror, han gerne ville være kæreste med hende, hvis hun ikke havde en i forvejen. “Hun er også flink” sagde jeg. Han spurgte, om jeg synes hun er pæn. Jeg svarede ja. Jeg drikker virkelig meget kaffe for tiden. Min mor gav mig en kaffekande. Jeg laver instant kaffe i den, og drikker kaffe hele dagen. Les Chroniques de Livaï #470 ~ LE COEUR NE DORT JAMAIS (avril 846) Mike Zacharias

L'histoire de Livaï comme vous ne l'avez jamais lue. ​Le personnage le plus populaire de L'Attaque des Titans, le soldat le plus fort de l'humanité… Qui est-il vraiment ? Qu'a-t-il dans le coeur ? Qu'est-ce qui a fait de lui ce qu'il est ? Je me suis mise en devoir de répondre à ces questions en vous livrant ma propre vision de sa vie, de ses pensées, des épreuves qu'il a traversées, ainsi que celles des personnes qui l'ont côtoyé, aimé, admiré, craint, détesté. Si j'essaie le plus possible de respecter le canon, quelques libertés seront prises sur les aspects de sa vie les plus flous. Quelques personnages seront également de mon invention. Livaï, un homme que l'on croit invincible et inatteignable… Est-ce bien sûr ? Jugez-en par vous-mêmes. 

J'attrape ma serviette et commence à me frictionner énergiquement. Y a rien de tel qu'une bonne douche après l'entraînement ! Heureusement les jeunes m'ont laissé de l'eau. Ils y passent tellement de temps que c'est pas gagné à chaque fois.

Les vétérans s'arrangent toujours pour passer après, on a notre coin à nous, un peu à l'écart. J'imagine pas me promener à poil devant ces mômes... Y'a toujours un retardataire qui risque de se pointer, pensant être seul et tranquille et dans ce cas, j'essaie de me montrer discret. Bon, j'ai presque fini. Je dois sécher mes cheveux.

La fatigue disparaît avec la crasse, c'est un fait. Je me demande si la force et les insomnies du nain sont pas liées au fait qu'il se lave tout le temps. Ca serait une piste. Il doit être dans la baignoire d'Erwin à cette heure, le veinard.

Ah, raté. J'entends quelqu'un qui vient. Bon, de toute façon j'ai presque fini. Il me reste à me draper avec dignité dans ma serviette et espérer m'éclipser sans gêner personne. J'essaie de nouer le bout de tissu autour de moi afin de pouvoir me rendre à l'endroit où j'ai laissé mes affaires le plus vite possible. C'est jamais simple... Ces serviettes militaires sont vraiment trop petites ! Il faut que j'en parle à Erwin ! Il ne se rend plus aux douches communes mais il doit bien comprendre le problème !

J'ai presque réussi à obtenir quelque chose de correct quand j'aperçois par-dessus le rebord de ma douche la silhouette qui approche. Le propriétaire de cette silhouette apparaît enfin et j'écarte les mèches de mes cheveux pour m'assurer que je rêve pas.

Hanji se dirige vers une cabine proche, un bac de lotions à la main. Je me baisse pour qu'elle ne m'aperçoive pas. S’il y a bien une chose qu'on ne voit pas tous les jours, c'est Hanji aux sanitaires ! J'ai bien remarqué qu'elle était pas comme d'habitude en ce moment, mais là, ça frôle le surnaturel !

Je peux pas m'empêcher de rire dans mon coin. Malheureusement, elle m'entend et se dirige vers moi, la ceinture déboutonnée et la chemise ouverte. Elle me lance un regard noir et je m'accoude sur le rebord pour la toiser. Oh ça va, hein, j'ai bien le droit de trouver ça drôle. C'est la pièce que tu fréquentes le moins. Que vaut cet honneur ? Tu pourrais au moins te désaper à l'abri des regards !

Elle répond juste qu'elle a besoin de se décrasser et de se laver les cheveux. Enfin. C'est pas pour dire mais la seule chose qui m'a empêché de te sentir arriver, ce sont les odeurs de savon qui traînent ici. Je m'attends pas à la vexer, je sais que ce genre de propos lui est indifférent. Elle se déshabille vite fait et se glisse sous la douche, puis elle détache ses cheveux en sale état et les secoue un peu. La pudeur n'est pas une chose qui nous met mal à l'aise entre nous, à vrai dire je l'ai vue nue au moins une fois ou deux et je peux pas arrêter de penser qu'elle a rien de bien différent de nous autres.

Je reste à regarder dans le vague, les pensées ailleurs, quand elle me sort de ma rêverie pour demander si je compte rester ici toute la journée à mater. Ooh, pour ce qu'il y a à voir... Ne t'inquiète pas, mes yeux apprécient de se poser ailleurs. Et de toute façon j'avais fini. Tu vois, je suis "habillé". Je sors de ma douche et me promène un peu dans la pièce en tournant sur moi-même. Oh... je sens un noeud qui lâche !... Merde !... Ouf... J'entends un rire sadique à travers le bruit d'eau qui coule. C'est bon, t'as rien vu. Elle répond qu'il n'y a rien à voir. C'est ça, bien sûr, venge-toi.

Je me dirige vers mon vestiaire pour m'habiller. Pendant que j'enfile ma chemise, j'essaie de déduire ce qui a pu l'amener ici. Il est bien évident qu'elle s'y rend de temps en temps, mais pourquoi maintenant ? Je relie tous les bribes d'éléments dont je dispose, puis m'appuie du dos sur le mur pour réfléchir. Hey, Hanji ! Je crois savoir pourquoi tu viens te laver aujourd'hui. En fait il y a trois possibilités.

Elle se met à chantonner pour couvrir ma voix, alors je m'approche pour qu'elle m'entende. Hey ! Tu vas m'écouter, que tu le veuilles ou non ! Donc voilà, soit c'est Erwin qui te l'a ordonné, soit c'est Livaï qui t'a menacée, soit... Elle se tourne vers moi, apparemment intéressée mais faisant semblant que non. Soit... il y a quelqu'un qui doit rentrer demain et tu ne veux pas sentir le bouc pour lui faire plaisir. Il est inutile de le nommer, n'est-ce pas ?

Ce n'est sûrement pas l'eau tiédasse qu'elle tire de la pompe qui la fait rougir jusqu'aux oreilles... Elle attrape quelque chose à côté d'elle et me le balance pendant que je m'éloigne vers la sortie des douches. Il me loupe de quelques centimètres et je vais le ramasser. C'est quoi, ça une brosse à dos ? Tu veux peut-être que je vienne m'en occuper ? Ou plutôt Livaï ? Je suis sûr qu'il y a du boulot à faire de ce côté et il mettra tout son coeur à te récurer !

Je sors dans la cour, accompagné de ses vociférations outrées. De jeunes recrues passent juste par là à ce moment et ne peuvent s'empêcher d'adopter des expressions interrogatrices et effrayées.

Ce n'est rien, la routine. Evitez les douches pendant une heure ou deux, et tout ira bien pour vous.

yo okay i have no actually intelligent questions to ask about tennis but: who are your favourite players (and why), who are your favourite doubles... pairings? teams? whatever they're called (and why), and do you have a favourite tournament/whatever they are? and OH i did just come up with a decent question: what are the major tournaments and fixtures beyond the grand slams?

Major Tournaments beyond the Slams: (This is going to be for the Men I’ll get to the Women in a minute)

There’s like 4 or 5 levels of tournaments, You’ve got your slams at the top then the Masters 1000s, ATP 500s, ATP 250s and then the Challenger Tour. The Masters 1000s give players the most ranking points and there are 9 of them on the tour (Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, Italy, Canada, Cincinnati, Shanghai and Paris.) There’s 13 ATP 500s and then 39 ATP 250s. Most of the big name players will play all the 1000s, most of the 500s and maybe some 250s. The Challenger Tour is usually for newer players or players who want more matches under their belt (lower ranked mainly). The ranking points contribute to the Race for London which is where the 8 players with most points battle it out at the ATP Finals. The next Maters 1000 after Wimbledon is the Canadian Open. (Week beginning 5th August) but there all on the 2019 ATP Tour Wikipedia Page if you want to take a look! 

The Men also have this thing called the Next Gen ATP Finals which are for those under 22 (I think??) where they rack up ranking points and go to play in Milan (although I’d double check because I can’t remember if it is Milan or if it changed recently)

The Davis Cup is a team event where countries play against each other. The format was recently changed because of Gerard Pique. I don’t understand it, don’t ask me to explain it. The previous format was much better. 

Also the Laver Cup, like the Ryder Cup in golf. It’s Team Europe vs Team World. It’s brilliant, it’s a lot of fun. Started by Roger 3 years ago and it’s still going strong and now counts towards the rankings. 

Women:

The Women's tournaments confuse me a little. Anyways they have the WTA Premier Mandatory (4 of them), WTA Premier 5 (5 of them), WTA Premier (12), WTA International (32) and of course the WTA Finals. They also have a Challenger Tour called the 125K Series. (Although I know literally nothing about that sorry!) 

The Women don’t actually have a Next Gen finals which is a shame because those ladies are killing it. 

The Women have the Fed Cup which I believe hasn’t been fucked around with. It’s countries vs countries again basically like a world cup of tennis. There’s groups then semis then the final. 5 matches, 4 singles and one doubles. 

There’s also no mixed doubles played outside the Grand Slams which again is a shame. Although the Hopman Cup is a mixed event where countries take on each other in men’s singles, women’s singles and then mixed doubles. 

Favourite Players

Oh strap yourselves in. Honestly why I like these people is very hard to pin down.

Cameron Norrie 23 , British, World Number 50, Leftie, he’s a bit patchy but honestly has the potential to climb right up there. He’s such a nice guy as well. He doesn’t really like doing interviews and can be a bit dickish but I love him. 

Kyle Edmund 24, British, World Number 30, provided he’s on form and his body is healthy he is a very good player. Although he can be prone to fucking things up. He’s really soft and really shy. He wanted to be an F1 driver when he was younger. 

Pierre Hugues-Herbert 28, French, World Number 39. Has the career grand slam in doubles but he’s a fabulous singles player as well. I love his game style. He’s got a kicker of a serve when he gets it write and he’s got such an ease about his game. 

David Goffin 28, Belgian, World Number 23. Very solid player, good all round game but his backhand is a particular strength (which is pretty rare tbh). He’s just precious and a soft.

Roger Federer 37, Swiss, World Number 3, Do I need to say more?

Sascha Zverev 22, German, World Number 5, Sascha is a sweetheart honestly. He doesn’t have the best of records at Grand Slams (He’s never been past a quarter). But he’s a solid guy and just all round brilliant player.

Rafael Nadal 33, Spanish, World Number 2, Do I need to say more?

Andy Murray 32, British, World Number 227. It’s Sir Andy. That’s all. 

Johanna Konta 28, British, World Number 28. So long as everything I scoming together nicely she has the potential to win everything going. She’s really sweet and such a nice person as well.

Serena Williams, 37, American, World Number 10, it’s Serena, she’s a Queen!

Ash Barty, 23, Australian, World Number 1. Ash has really come into her own this year and she’s playing so well. She took a break from the game to go play cricket back in 2014 and was very successful at that as well before coming back to dominate in tennis. She’s brilliant.

I’m gonna throw in some doubles players because Idk about their partnerships yet either because a) it’s a new one or b) I don’t like their partner (it’s mostly a lol):

Joe Salisbury 27, British, World Number 19 (In doubles). His game has come on so far like if you have about 50 seconds look for his mixed doubles match on youtube from Wimbledon in 2017 where he runs into a fucking stand to win a point. Also look for highlights from the Dallas Challenger last year where his get to get a ball back is one of the best I've ever seen (you can’t see him get it tbh but he gets it). Also highlights of the match at Queens, any of his matches at Wimbledon this year, he is a fantastic player. The way he moves, the angles he gets, I could go on about Joe forever tbh. 

Jamie Murray 33, British, World Number 8 (Again in doubles). He’s the ‘other Murray’ doesn’t get as much love as Andy but definitely deserves as much. He’s won more slams than Andy has and he’s just such a brilliant player. Who I love very much. 

Favourite Doubles Pairings 

I don’t have many of these but here goes!

Pierre Hugues-Herbert and Nicolas Mahut: They’re taking a temporary break while Pierre focusses on his singles. But they’ve won the Career Grand Slam together ( a win at each grand slam) and they’re probably one of the best teams in the world. They’re so precious together as well it’s really cute. Nico’s son seems to love Pierre so much as well it’s just the cutest.

Bob and Mike Bryan. The Bryan bros! In terms of tournaments won the best doubles team probably ever. They’re twins from America, they’re 40 years old, Mike has a metal hip (like Andy now) and they’re still killing it on the doubles circuit. 

Favourite Tournament 

This is a tough one. Wimbledon has to be my all time favourite but outside of the Grand Slams. It’d be Queens. It’s on grass, it’s chilled, it’s highly rated by the players and it’s just beautiful. I mean I like Paris as well but tbh there’s something about Queens that I love so much and I can’t pinpoint it really.

T20 | Leigh See Off Spirited Longdown Old Boys

Match Highlights: Charlie Scharneck gives 2nd XI Skipper Seb Davis out LBW.

Longdown Old Boys (LOB) visited Abbots Leigh Rd for a T/20 friendly this week, LOB captained by Abbots Leigh's very own Andy "Run-Out King" Burrows (more of that later!).

The captains went to the middle and LOB were no doubt delighted that the conversation could be restricted to a simple "Heads/Tails, Bat/Bowl" scenario with ALCC's resident Twitter hater (only 140 Characters?!) keen to provide insight into all aspects of how a coin could land...

The visitors opted to make first use of the batting facilities and set about building a platform for their middle-order engine room. Rod Laver and Joe Burrows both passing the 20-mark, Joe excellently stumped by Jonny Weber off the bowling of Andy Hamilton.

An unfortunate mix-up (thoughts Andy?) saw Pranav run-out for 18 as Mike "Loves going to Mells" Dean clean bowled 2 LOB batsman on his way to 2 for 18. Andy Burrows unbeaten on 17 as the innings closed on 106.

Jonny Weber got the ALCC reply off to a good start with the Swashbuckling Matt "Likes a Rum" Bull. Bull the first man out, crawling around the pitch on all 4s and Run-Out (not stumped!) by Andy Burrows despite Bull's assumption he'd been bowled!

Seb Davis nurdled his way to 17 before being rapped on the pads by Joe Burrows. Before the fielding side could react, umpire Charlie Scharneck unleashed a Merv Hughes style appeal, sprinting down the pitch and screaming in the batsman's face to "take a hike sunshine, you're out" and then calmly raising a finger in the direction of the dressing rooms... everyone, without exception, agreed that the LBW was indeed plumb and the club also received phonecalls from neighbour's Lodway, Bedminster and Old Bristolians who all agreed with the decision from their various viewing positions.

Dan Sanders again showed his class with a well compiled 31. The 1st team opening batsman making good decisions and showing the value of running hard between the wickets, took the hosts within site of the target.

Leaving Scharneck and Jon Banks to take ALCC to victory and depriving everyone the opportunity to see Pugger's stumps go cartwheeling away into the night.

Well done to all involved in the game, that's what a midweek T20 should be - both sides in with a chance of a win right up to the last ball and played in tremendously good spirits.
