Adventures in Deckbuilding #230: Yona & Sandbar, Pony Pals (White Farm) [Core]
Yona & Sandbar, Pony Pals
Tumblr media
The Dynamic Duo
It was indeed one of the first things that I thought about when I first saw this Mane: “Wait, is this actually a Farming Mane?” Since the +2 power boost that Yona & Sandbar can apply with their Boosted side can be given to a character and not just a Friend, it seemed to me that a White deck with enough Immediate Events and Hasty other-things could indeed make a run at farming with this Mane. And while I was told at the time that there weren’t enough good Immediate-speed things to run in White, I actually think that there are enough, especially now that Prize Wheel has given us the Hasty Overwhelming Aroma.
In many respects, this deck is made up according to the same blueprint as a traditional Blue farming list, with the biggest flaws in the plan being that we don’t have access to Flash Magnus’s Shield, or any Friends that help with winning faceoffs. What we do have, though, is a wonderful Starting Problems for mono-White decks that don’t intend on having a Problem faceoff anytime soon. When every non-Friend card in our deck can give our Mane +2 Power, and the ones with White requirement also give them another +2, I would tend to think that our Immediate-speed Events and Resources should support Farming quite nicely.
Many of them are great faceoff tricks as well. Wrinkle in Time is an obvious one, as is Costume Change, such as it is. That one also has the benefit of getting something out of your discard pile, to the bottom of our deck, but we are capable of shuffling with Pony of Shadows. Wink! and Fit of Pique are notable mostly for their cheapness, as in “Why wouldn’t you play these for an extra benefit in a faceoff?”, especially in Wink!’s case where the opponent might have a faceoff trick they’ve been waiting to play. See High Alert for the same reason: “That’s +2, and I’m up by 1, would you like to play anything in response?”
Pony of Shadows here is, obviously, nowhere near as big of a deal as it is in a Blue farming list. Yet at the same time each of the Friends here has the ability to be quite impactful (and I’d appreciate not flipping them for Faceoffs anyway). Spoons is a natural all-around good choice, particularly useful once again in taxing many of the faceoff tricks that are commonly used against farming decks. Capper has been a card custom-built for White farm since his inception, which means he basically hasn’t seen any play, but it’s a fine card in its role. Stygian is admittedly less useful since many of our Resources are Unique, but copying Saddle Row is obviously amazing. And, if it has to be, there are benefits to copying a Unique Resource as the real version can go to the discard pile and be targeted by a Costume Change later.
Resource removal is certainly light, and made all the harder because we don’t have good cards to retire to fuel a Fashion Overload. For this we must turn back to the old standby of Winterzilla, used only in a pinch to deal with Resources that cannot be allowed to stick on the opposing side. Though, as any Farming list will tell you, when you have only a small number of Friends, the number of opposing Resources that are truly intolerable is actually not that high.
I don’t know if this deck is actually any good, and I expect that the next time that I roll this Mane I will return to the more standard Octavia-style aggression that Yonabar was essentially built for. Yet still, I want to try playing with this deck at least once for sure. There’s still a part of me convinced that this may be the right way to play this Mane, especially looking at this deck now, and so it needs to be proved wrong. Or right, in the best-case scenario.
I am about to embark on a weeklong vacation, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t build another deck and write another post. In fact I intend this to be a very productive vacation, as I have so many things on the go right now that need to be dealt with. And given how little enthusiasm I have for once again returning to Spike, Crystal Hero, I’ll be happy to be able to relax while slogging through the build.

The game play of the actual Pokémon TCG is a little off to me, so I've also been thinking about how I might design a Pokémon TCG from the ground up.
Here's one idea.
Each player has six "Team Pokémon", a deck of 20 "Wild Pokémon" and a deck of 40 "Support Cards."
There are 3 locations on the board (outside of player's hands, draw and discard piles): The Arena, and a Training Ground for each player.
Players can place a maximum of 2 Team Pokémon in each location, and you must always have a Team Pokémon in the Arena before you can put any into the Training Grounds.
The Arena is where you fight your opponent's Team Pokémon, placing damage counters on them to KO them and remove from play. (The last player with a Team Pokémon is the winner.)
The Training Grounds allow player's to fight Wild Pokémon cards. If you defeat your own Wild Pokémon, you tuck it under a Team Pokémon to power up your Team Pokémon's stats as long as it remains attached.
If you defeat your opponent's Wild Pokémon, the Wild Pokémon card is discarded and you will gain a certain amount of action points (and occasionally other "immediate" effects, that do not require the Wild Pokémon Card to linger on  the board.)
Action Points are recorded on a 20-sided die. (You can't exceed 20 Points.) When you use a Team Pokémon's move, or re-locate them on the board, it costs Action Points. You don't automatically gain Action Points on your turn after the first turn- you need to earn them through defeating Wild Pokémon, or playing Support Cards.
Support Cards are the cards you have in your hand, and draw for each turn. They might also cost Action Points to play. Support Cards have immediate effects (and do not linger on the board.) The most common would be to gain Action Points or heal up your Team Pokémon.
Wild Pokémon in the Training Ground replenish at the start of that player's turn. The last action you can take on your turn is attacking your opponent in the Arena, once.
Obviously, I took inspiration for the MLP CCG, again.
I like the idea of having TWO "active" Pokémon that can help each other in the arena (instead of one active and a vague bench)- and I like having your whole team from the get-go, and being able to upgrade your team in-game.
I also like separating out the action points from the deck, so you don't need to draw them.
The biggest drawback to this idea, in my opinion, is it would be hard to handle Pokémon Evolution without having some kind of deck of "evolved" upgraded Team Pokémon cards.
There's already a lot of cards and locations (bordering clunky) and I feel like having to collect the evolved form for your Team kind of pushes it over the top.

Cloudchaser and Flitter Spoil: Friends Forever
Tumblr media Tumblr media
>
Tumblr media
It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a spoiler! Well, except it’s not me, I guess, but everything else! I can’t wait to spoil it!
Well, what are you waiting for? Show us!
But wait, if I spoil my card first, then it won’t be the awesome final reveal out of our spoilers. And it’s definitely exciting enough to be the last card we spoil.
That’s fine, I don’t mind going first.
But if I go second, then I have to wait longer to talk about the card…
You haven’t heard a word I’ve said yet, have you?
Augh, what do I do? Going first would be amazing, but going second would be awesome! Which is better? Flitter, help me!
Yeah, okay, I’m just going to talk about my card now.
Hey everypony! Check out these adorable fillies!
Tumblr media
Maybe there’s some way to do both. I could spoil half of my card first…
We were so cute back then! Aww, I love seeing pictures of us when we were younger! Don’t you, Cloudchaser?
Yeah! That’s it! I’ll do half and then you could do your card, and then I—
Cloudchaser!
Ow!
What was that for?
There’s a perfectly good spoiler of the two of us right in front of your muzzle and you’ve just been ignoring me.
I wasn’t ignoring you, I was—
...You started talking about your spoiler without me?
Sigh.
Look, Cici, I know you’re excited, but you need to calm down a little, okay? We’ve got a job to do.
Besides, I think you’ll like this card. It’s super awesome!
...Hey, that second ability is like the ability of my first card.
Just noticing now, huh? And the other half is Forest Owl from Premiere too.
I’m not an owl, but I guess it fits better than my first card’s ability, hehe.
That’s a pretty cool callback! Only it’s immediate now, so even better! There’s a lot of cool tricks you can do with that!
You can confront one problem with us, then rush out a Hasty Friend to the other problem. Or just single confront and then exhaust us so the opponent can’t start a single problem faceoff without our permission. Or maybe throw out a hasty friend on the opponent’s turn!
Actually, being immediate works really well with Hasty friends, huh. That’s pretty neat.
I like that we help out wherever we are.
At problems, we help everypony else by giving them more power thanks to me cheering everypony on.
And at home, we can exhaust to help ponies in hand get to problems by reducing their cost thanks to your eagerness to get things done quickly! We’re a fantastic team!
We are, aren’t we?
And that flavour text just fits us perfectly! Oh, this card is just perfect, Cici!
I wish they’d stop printing us as foals, though…
Awww, but we’re so cute!
Hehe, or is that the problem? You just don’t like having your cool independant mare image ruined by your adorable foalhood years.
That’s not it at all!
...much.
SIlly Cici!
Anyway, that’s enough on my card. What do you have to show us all today, Cici?
Okay, so I’ll admit your card was pretty great. That’s definitely one of the best cards in the set we could have spoiled since it has us on it.
One of? Psh, it’s definitely the single best!
Wanna bet?
Absolutely!
Well you’re gonna lose. Check this out
Tumblr media
Ohmygosh, Cici! They gave you a Mane to spoi!
Sure did. In fact I—
Oof.
I’m so happy for you! You always wanted to spoil a Mane!
Eh, it’s no big deal.
Oh don’t lie, you big silly! I saw that grin on your face. You haven’t smiled that much since you got accepted into the Wonderbolt Academy!
Wait, a second!
You only showed us the front! What’s the boosted side look like?
Now who’s excited?
Come on, Cici! Don’t keep us waiting!
Twist my leg why don’t ya?
Tumblr media
Okay, okay, you win. Your card’s a teensy bit more awesome than mine was.
Told ya.
So Silverstream draws cards, huh? I guess she must be really excited to learn as much as she can!
Heh, guess so.
I have no idea how good this Mane will wind up being, but on paper she seems somewhat strong.
Eccentric 2 slows the opponent down nicely and helps incentivize keeping this Mane at a problem, where you definitely want her to be to get the most out of her on confront ability. Drawing cards is always good.
And the fact that she exhausts means you can make it so the opponent can’t easily send her home with a single problem faceoff.
Though the most interesting part of her is her flip condition. It’s not as easy as the Seaquestria Manes, but it’s not exactly hard either.
Especially since she doesn’t say they have to be your characters! If the opponent has two characters at her problem, you can flip her!
Yeah, that’s neat. Kind of reminds me of Rainbow Dash: Hanging Out. Though obviously way easier.
Hehe, looks like you’ve finally calmed down a little.
Honestly, I’m proud of you! I’d have thought you’d be bouncing off the walls being able to spoil an ultra rare Mane.
...ultra rare?
Well, yeah. Didn’t you notice the rar—?
They let me spoil an ultra rare? And not just any ultra rare, a Mane?
I may have made a mistake.
We’ve never had an Ultra Rare to spoil before, this is amazing! I have to go tell everypony right now! Wow!
Cici, wait! Say goodbye to—
...everypony.
Well, there she goes. Guess I can’t blame her for being enthusiastic. Silly Cloudchaser.
Well, guess that’s it for our spoilers, everypony! See you all later.
Assuming I can ever get Cloudchaser to calm down, that is!

What do with my Instagram...
[Note: This started as a twitter thread that just sort of snowballed, so I guess it’s a good thing I remembered I have this, right?]
Ok. So. This is going to be a blog about my Instagram. Specifically, what I really want to do with my Instagram, now that I have one.
The obvious thing will be pictures of mlp ccg stuff. Ultra rares, pack hauls, deck in progress, etc. I'll probably post Pokemon related stuff too. I have a friend who shares pics of all her Shiny Pokemon on Instagram & they seem to be pretty popular. But what I really want to do, and that my anxiety is telling me I should NOT do, is start posting pics showing my workout progress.
See, I don't think I've been tweeting about it much, but I've been working out on & off for the last 10 years, but for about a year now, possibly longer? I've actually stuck with it. I've been like....85% consistent. And I'm told by my official unofficial trainer that results are coming in. That she's noticing increased muscle mass & the like. But I'm not seeing it, probably because I have body image issues. And that's what I want to face. Head on.
My trainer swears by "progress pictures." Just taking pictures of yourself about once a month, and then comparing them as you go. These can be "selfie" style, but she even told me about 3 specific poses/angles that highlight musculature.
But....that means taking pictures of myself without a shirt, and for whatever reason, being seen without a shirt is one of my biggest f--king fears. Like, thinking about it now, it might even be a bigger fear than being seen naked, if only just.
I did take progress pics once, but I sort of let them get "lost" in the disorganized way my phone handles pictures. After all, I had done one of the posses slightly wrong, so they were worthless, right?
Which brings me back to Instagram. The very first person I followed (and the main reason I set up the account) is a woman bodybuilder & cosplayer who goes by "ladysorrow68." (On IG at least, I also see her use the name "Saiyan Queen" a lot.)
Well, on top of all the awesome pictures of her as Berserker Kale, "Princess" Trunks, Mary Jane & Jessica Rabbit (and others!), she posts progress pictures. And she writes about how her motivation can sometimes be practically 0, but seeing the change for herself keeps her going.
That really hit me, as with my inability to notice my own progress, I often find myself thinking “what’s the point?” when I miss a day, or get sick, etc. Between the Lady and my trainer, it sounds like progress pictures are really good help for that.
Now, I know. I know I can just take them and keep them to myself. But that’s not what this is about. I mentioned the mlp ccg above and used the qualifier “obvious” because my twitter is moistly about the My Little Pony collectible card game. Because I started it to promote a YouTube show I do about the mlp ccg...which I started to try to help face my anxieties and boost my confidence. I don’t know if it’s working, but it’s a train I want to keep going. 2015 started with a theme of self improvement, despite some tripping and stumbling between now and then, I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made.
And now, I have a medium in which to take on one of my biggest, most ridiculous fears.
Because, you know...people have seen me without a shirt, and the world hasn’t ended. Hell, despite my best efforts to get the locker room at work to myself, some of my co-workers have seen my underwear and absolutely nothing came of it.
Worst case scenario, I get some trolls mocking me, but I feel silly worrying about even that since none of my other internet endeavors have enough of a following to attract them. If anything, I feel like I’d attract encouragement & support, because what few comments my show gets, it’s almost always exactly that.
So yes, every excuse my anxiety gives me about possibly putting pictures of myself without a shirt out there into the universe, I have a counter for. It’s still terrifying, and even as badly as I want to prove the anxiety wrong, that doesn’t mean I’ll be able to go through with anything. I really hope to, but I guess we’ll see.
In any case, I’m just glad to get all of that out of my brain. Feel free to tell me....whatever you want, I guess.

Card Shark 1: Princess Skystar, Out of Her Shell Welcome to the first installment of Card Shark! I love the My Little Pony CCG. I love to play it and strive to collect all the cards. I've wanted to write about the CCG for a while, so here I go. I'm going to take a critical look at cards and find cards that work with them. And as I'm on a high from seeing the MLP Movie for the second time yesterday, I thought I'd start this series with a bang and write about cards from Seaquestria and Beyond! Let's take a look at the first Mane Character from the new set, Princess Skystar, Out of Her Shell! NOTE: I base my decisions on cards revealed AT THE TIME OF POSTING. A card could come out that would reverse my opinion. Just be aware that this will not be updated as more new cards are released. Skystar, from what I've seen, is one of the more popular movie characters, so we hoped to see her as a Mane. She's quite unique among Manes in that she has no ability on her boosted side. Only one or two Manes have had this before (not counting the ones in the printable starter kit). But she also introduces a new factor in Seashell Token Friends. With 2 Pink Power each, that's not bad. And 2 AT for 4 Power total is amazing. That's an un-Cutie Marked baby Coloratura right there. Dang. Plus, you can use the Seashells ON THE FIRST TURN. A turn one confront and flip for the cost of one Kevin. Oh my. I wouldn't be surprised if we get some Events or Resources that coincide with the Seashell Tokens. So where do these Seashell Tokens come in handy? Other than a turn one confrontation, I couldn't tell. My initial perception of Skystar was that the card is so-so. The only decks I've seen with no boosted Mane effects are played for yucks and not meant to be competitive (I'm looking at you, Orange Luna!). But then I remembered a card introduced in Equestrian Odysseys: Fluttershy, Backup Vocals. BackupVox has the ability to turn a Mane Character over. Most would use it for the opponent's Mane, but it works on your own Mane, too. With this, you can pay 2 to flip Skystar, play BackupVox to flip Skystar back, and pay 2 to flip Skystar yet again, each boost flip getting 4 more Power. Guess there are so many things you can do with shells. The card's faults? The bold NO BOOST ABILITY is the primary one. I find many decks are built around boost abilities, such as Thorax and AJ Ambassador. Others, if not the focus of the deck, have a boost ability that accommodates the main "attacker," like Zipporwhill. Skystar has neither of those, which might hinder building a deck around her. Her other fault is her Seashell-generating ability itself. If you want to do one of those continued flip situations I described earlier, that's gonna take a few turns, primarily in AT gain. Though I've played against decks that get to monstrous levels of AT, they got that much AT by stalling for several turns and getting a card like Castle of Friendship or Factory Organizer into play. While 2 AT for 4 Pink Power is efficient when it comes to early confrontation, it's not too useful later on. What could be paired with Skystar? I'm looking at all the types of cards here and not limiting myself to just one type: *BackupVox. If you want to be crazy and keep flipping Skystar over and over, BackupVox is your best friend, though you'd have to get the AT amount up quite a bit. *Spike, Ultimate Host. To continue the Pink/Yellow theme, Spike can power those Seashells up to 6 and himself to 3 in the blink of an eye. Again, efficient in a pinch, and Spike benefits all of your Friends. Just make sure to have both Pink and Yellow, which shouldn't be too much of a hassle with cards like Singing Barrel or Trading Traditions. *Petunia Paleo, Excavator. Another Pink/Yellow, Petunia could benefit in the long run with her ability to look at upcoming problems. Keep a small Power problem like Concerning Cutie Mark or Equalist Propaganda and Shelly and Sheldon are back at it. Make sure you have Friends to retire to activate Petunia, such as a leftover Seashell. *Jest Clowning Around. Here's another Problem swapper. Unlike Petunia, you don't have to solve the Problem to swap it, just a simple confront. All you have to do is make sure you have the necessary power to confront it! That wraps up the first edition of Card Shark. Come back tomorrow where I investigate one of the parrots of Celaeno's crew! Diamond out!

Just as the title says, I’m selling my entire collection of MLP: CCG merchandise. This comes as a heavy handed decision, but it’s overall for the best. I’ll copy-paste my wall of text from the Reddit post to explain briefly.
For those wondering why I'm quitting the game, I'll explain briefly. With lack of players to play against, and my own issues with socializing and concept of game balance, I'm stuck in a situation of no one to play against locally, but I can't stay in a group because of being too different and too toxic. On top of this, it feels like this is a pay to play and pay to win game. What do I mean by this? I mean that if you try to play anything to be competitive on any sort of level, you NEED to drop at least $200 on a playset of a small core for a deck. For someone who has basically no income, this is impossible and makes the game extremely frustrating to play and budget build around. On top of this, it feels like the game leans to favor one deck type (AKA Control) over any others. This makes it less fun, since it feels like that's what one needs to play to win. To stack more on that, watching my ideas lose to "lesser" decks against the same opponent is crushing to what little self esteem I have. This ends up causing me to tilt, play horrible, see just how bad of a player I am, stack on my depression, and add to my overall severe dysphoria. This also puts a great stress on the relationship between >/u/NiTEi and I with the constant fights surrounding me and the game. I'm sorry to the people who have assisted me either through building support, perseverance support, or monetary support. (Especially so to the Commentary is Magic team.) I truly do feel guilty about this, but I cannot continue to play card games. They are unhealthy for me. Hopefully this can be sold off quickly. Best of luck to Enterplay, the people of this reddit, and the other players. I know I won't be missed.

The Deck that Almost Isn’t
I’ve been away for a long time now, and I’ve gone back and forth for quite a while about whether this article ought to be more about the difficulties that I initially had with building this deck, or the difficulties that presented themselves in terms of writing this post and keeping going with the series. I’ve actually had the deck built for what’s probably coming up on a month now, but I held off on writing the post for it because I was really just lacking in motivation.
Those who know me would know that I’ve gone through a phase of multiple years now of really only rarely playing the CCG. Doing Meticulous Talks and TIA, as well as the occasional convention, kept me plugged in enough for some of that time, but over the past few months I’ve felt increasingly distant from the game. This got to the point where I didn’t really feel qualified to be making these posts anymore, talking about these decks like I had any idea what I was doing putting them together, or any clue what the proper reactions to the current metagame would be. I realized that I could not keep on doing things as they were. I would either have to stop with this series, or find the energy to keep on going with it.
Now, the good news, obviously, is that this post is happening. As I had hoped, the way to rediscover the game turned out to be the same way that I discovered it in the first place: by playing it, with good friends. The onset of Continentals was a nice motivating factor in this as well. So as gloomy perhaps as all of that sounded, the upshot is that the series is back on and I’m ready to take it on once again.
With a fairly important qualification. That being that I’m never going to do the same Mane twice in a row again. Because, as I hinted at the start of the post, the process of just getting this deck down was bad enough on its own. I think it’s a pretty weak thing, kind of built around an idea that’s not really worth building a deck around. But it is what it is.
That build-around card here is Gallus, Cleaning Up. As I learned when playing Purple/Orange Aggro, while it can be difficult to win a game purely with gigantic Friends, there comes a point where it’s possible. In that deck I could consistently drop a 2-cost, 10-power Restricted Section and if the opponent couldn’t deal with it, that was it. I thought that surely I could build a deck with enough discard and draw to make a monster out of a card that gets +1 power every time that I discard a card.
Crucially though, Gallus is lacking in several key areas compared to Celestia. For one, his impact from hand will be limited, as we can only build up those +1 power counters over time. Similarly, because that power comes from counters and not from a continuous modifier, simply Gallus sets us back to square one. And, perhaps most importantly, the consequence is that in order to make using him feel worth it, the whole rest of the deck had to be built around the idea of discarding cards and drawing cards. Fair enough, Blue and Pink have a lot of good cards that discard and draw, and enough of them are griffons that we end up with some okay griffon synergy.
But the biggest mark against this deck came when I looked at it and thought, “You know, with all this hand-cycling draw, I should put in a few copies of Still Partying.” Why is that a Problem? Because then we’re not a quirky deck built around Gallus, we’re a bad Still Partying deck, and further optimization from there just merges back to Gabby Draw Combo. Which really isn’t a vote of confidence in the foundation of the original idea.
Next week, we are definitely not going to be building for Cadance, because this was her last deck. But I am fine with staying in Pink, for Princess Skystar, Out Of Her Shell!

Cloudchaser and Flitter Spoil: Seaquestria and Beyond
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Awww, you weren’t supposed to guess.
Well I got mine too, so it wasn’t hard to guess.
Oh, good point.
But anyway, I’m really excited about my card and I want to show it off to everypony!
You? Excited about spoilers for your favourite thing in all of Equestria and beyond?
I never would have guessed!
Yeah, yeah.
Anyway, spoiler time!
Tumblr media
Oooh, a super rare!
Yup! We’ve never spoiled anything higher than rare before, so I’m pretty excited! And this card is pretty neat.
Well tell us all about it!
So this card is pretty neat and there’s a ton of interesting stuff that happens when you have Capper out. Though most obvious of which is it stops the common trick of using Hasty Friends and Princess Luna: Dream Warrior to DFO for less AT than normal.
Similarly, Capper also stops Thunderlane: Unsung Hero from confronting multiple problems by himself.
Shouldn’t that make you hate the card? Aren’t those some of your favourite ways to DFO?
I know! Isn’t it great?
Uhhh, come again?
Those kinda plays have been around for ages now, and it’s getting a bit predictable. The game gets boring if the best plays are always going to be the same, you know? I think Capper will spice things up nicely.
And it’s not like he makes those cards worthless or anything. They’re still very strong! It just happens to be a good counter to their best applications. Good counterplay is important.
It’s making me think about how best to make my next Blue aggro deck keeping in mind he’s around. And I’m a bit excited to try a few different things.
Anyway, there are a few other interesting things here. For example, Capper also stops Forced movement so you can use this to protect your aggro strategy! If your opponent wanted to play Frozen in Magicite, she’d have to do it before the score phase. And Cutie Pox Scare simply won’t do anything at all.
I really like this card! It seems really well designed.
Even though it hampers one of your favourite strategies.
Especially because it hampers one of my favourite strategies.
Well, I’m not entirely sure I understand your rationale...
But I can’t argue with your enthusiasm!
This set is going to be so awesome!
I guess that means it’s my turn!
Tumblr media
Tada! Princess Skystar! Also, the Transform mechanic!
Huh. That’s interesting.
Now that’s a lot of reminder text, but what it boils down to is you can return another Princess Skystar Friend to your hand to only have to pay 2 AT to play her instead her full price.
Though not this exact one. Which means you need a different Skystar.
Wonder why they have that restriction? It’d be kind of neat to keep replaying these to keep making seashells over and over. Not the best plan in the world, but not awful either.
Well, you can’t transform into your same form, Cici. That’d be silly!
I… Guess?
Anyway, it says here Transform is on a bunch of cards, so look out for that!
What a good spoiler session! You got to spoil a new mechanic before anypony else, and I got to spoil a Super Rare! That’s awesome!
Well, about that…
I got two cards!
Tumblr media
After all, it wouldn’t make sense to just showcase one Princess Skystar, right? I mean, she does have both her seapony and her hippogryph form!
And now she can transform between the two of them at will! Provided you have the AT of course.
Er, Cici? Are you okay?
Fine…
You don’t look fine. Are you sick? Did something happen?
No… It’s just...
I wanted my super rare spoiler to be special!
Oh is that all?
Well look at it this way, silly. Who spoiled their super rare first? Before we had any other super rares spoiled at all, even!
...Me?
Yes you, silly! And isn’t that plenty special?
Okay, I guess that is still pretty awesome.
Sure is! But let’s get back to talking about Skystar and Transform and what makes them neat.
Now something that’s particularly important to know is that the friend you’re transforming can be anywhere. So if you have a Skystar friend at home, you can totally still return her to your hand to play either of these Skystars to a problem for cheap.
Also, you get to count the power of the friend you’re transforming when playing the new friend, despite returning her to your hand. So if Making a Splash is your only Pink character, you can totally still transform her into Air and Sea no problem!
Basically everything is maximally convenient for you!
Yeah, that’s neat! It’ll be interesting to see what other Transform cards there are.
Well like I said, there’s a whole bunch! And they obviously play well with cards that do something when they come into play.
It says here there’s also some other Skystar cards without Transform, and that they’re all great Transform choices for either of these Skystars!
I can’t wait!
But to be honest, right now I kind of just want to get a million AT and have these two Skystars transform into each other a whole bunch.
Uh... why?
Cause it’d be fun, silly! First she’s a seapony, then she’s a hippogriff! Seapony, hippogriff! Seapony, hippogriff! Not to mention you’d make a million seashells, hehe.
Though it’d be difficult coming up with names for all of them. Shelly and Sheldon are obvious, but what else would you name a Seashell?
I really have no idea.
It’s quite the puzzle.
Anyway, I think that’s it for our spoilers! Hope you all enjoyed them!
I certainly did.
You always enjoy spoilers, Cici! That harldy counts.
Well I can’t help it! Spoilers are exciting!
And I love talking about them.
Like that new Spike card. Now he’s interesting. There’s a whole bunch of songs that could work well with him and—
Bye everypony! See you next time!
Later! Hope you all have a good prerelease! Now like I was saying about Spike, there just might be a deck focusing around him and I can’t wait to see what people do with him. Oh, and Brian? Now that’s an interesting card...

MLPCCG Spoiler: Queen Chrysalis, Vicious Vengeance
Finally the moment has arrived!
So I get to spoil a card. Check it out. Queen Chrysalis, Vicious Vengeance.
Tumblr media
I must say when I got this card to spoil I was stoked. Queen Chrysalis is probably my favorite villain in the show. I was even more stoked to find this card was a rare Epic with a solid effect. Here is a short break down of the card.
Being a R epic this card does increase the accessibility of epics overall which is always awesome.
To my knowledge this is the cheapest means for mass push back in the game right now.
That face.
While its ability is a bit indicative to farm decks, it is over all still a option which is great. It can still be played and farmed early on and blue farm can recover from her push back ability.
The 2 score is a little rough, but completely fair.
Pushing all cards away from it after it is flipped is great and in some cases more useful then the villain key word. If the opponent has a strong main or fearless friend that would defeat it this card still creates a kind of ‘reset’ situation.
Being a 7 it shares the highest flip number in the game as it stands. Something useful in some emergency situations if you can place cards on top of the deck along with making it difficult to take out.
It does have a small use against farm by playing it at a opponents farming location. For after they farm it’s unlikely they will flip another villain before chrysalis gets to flip, which pushes things back. Potentially buying you a turn particularly against orange farm which often has little means to recover.
Monstrous Manual allows more anti-mainsentric attack options with this card.
Well that is the spoiler my hints? hints where hinting at. Queen Chrysalis, Vicious Vengeance. Not sure if I will do an audio review. But anyways, thank you Enterplay for allowing me to spoil a card, particularly this awesome one.
