made me do a waterless spit take...anyhow i didn't expect them to redesign his hair for the anime but here's manga teruki for comparison

I have a confession to make 😭 when I first rewatched mp100 seriously, I had a hard time remembering names. And everyone was posting ship art of Serizawa x Reigen. And since I didn’t remember who Serizawa was I thought everyone was drawing this guy x Reigen
I WAS SO CONFUSED 😭

*taps microphone gently*
Reigen Arataka and Shigeo Kagayama aka Mob's relationship is one of the most beautiful and wonderful things in this world and I love how they have such a pure friendship and obvious father/son like bond between them like they complement each other so well and inspire one another to be better people than they currently are and just thinking about them makes me feel stupidly soft and fuzzy and no I'm not crying over these two fictional characters-

I like how subtle yet subtext-heavy the anime version of this scene is, but I’m also a little sad that Ritsu’s worry was downplayed a bit—specifically the fact that his worry persisted and even worsened after Mob brushed it off. As someone who knows how the manga ends, the gradual build-up of Ritsu’s uneasiness about Mob’s apparent disassociation is a pretty important detail for the final arc of the series. But I think the anime deciding to cut out Ritsu’s thoughts at the end of the scene there about being even more worried and changing his expression a bit, it kinda made it seem like Mob actually wasn’t upset to those who didn’t pick up on the underlying current of uneasiness, which - again - is very subtle
According to Ritsu’s words here (“It’s been over a month… are you still worrying about him?”), we can assume Mob’s been quiet and spacey all month. The entire Divine Tree arc was incredibly stressful emotionally and physically for him, and it looks like it’s starting to get overwhelming. He’s not bouncing back as quickly because it’s getting harder for Mob to ignore his emotions. Only so much room in a vessel when it’s never emptied.
Anyway, I guess it’s to be expected because the manga is not bound to the same time contraints as the anime. If you’ve only watched the Mob Psycho anime, I highly recommend reading through the manga at mobpsycho100manga.com. Lots of additional scenes and expanded context. Even a slightly more irritable Mob lol
