Ik I don't really share wip related stuff on here so all of this is coming completely without context but I made some family trees tonight & I wanted to show them off

This one is explaining the link between the Fitzpatrick & Halden families, because they aren't extremely closely related but are still close enough that Lord Arthur (fellow on the far left) calls Robbie Marison (bastard son of Mary Halden & an unknown party) "cousin" pretty much every time they interact, which is. often.

And there's this related family tree explaining somewhat why Mary Halden's eventual husband Theobald Palmer is the heir to his family's fortune. also it's important for me to say cos this doesn't show ages that I resent how it's making it look like Mary Halden & Theobald Palmer are the same age--they aren't, she's like fifteen years older than him which is why she has a teenage kid already when they get married. also it wouldn't let me mark nationalities but it's important to note that the Palmer family is from England whereas the Haldens are Scottish settlers in Ireland & the Fitzpatricks are. uh. idk they live in a bunch of different places but they're also vaguely Scottish

And lastly, this one explaining Lady Lavinia's lover Éamonn Wright's unbelievably toxic family, most of whom don't actually appear but Éamonn likes to traumadump about them at inappropriate moments in the story so I felt the need to explain them too. also yes this was what the Lavinia vs Molly post was about & Lavinia is winning at least for the moment hence why she's called that on here. and lastly as once again it wouldn't let me mark ages I'll say that the bottom generation (which the story mostly focuses on) is about late teens - mid 20s, and the story is set in 1793, so they would have been born roughly at some point in the 1770s

• Of course Jackie doesn’t want to be known as the other girl, and even though Wallace kissed her, she’s getting blamed for it.

• oh the Fitzpatrick’s chain Thumper in the stadium!! not Weevil

• Woody’s being really sketchy about wanting the video back of the stalker videoing his house…saying the gardener did it? yeah ok.

• Beaver is such an ass (And a psychopath.)

• this episode is so dark. Well the Weevil/Thumper plot is. I don’t know if Weevil knew Thumper would go out like that, but he certainly knew the Fitzpatrick’s would kill him.

• what’s crazy is if Weevil had a bit more patience and waited like Veronica asked, then Thumper could’ve been brought in and sent to prison.

• also having Logan push the plunger and demolish the stadium, inadvertently killing Thumper, who tried to pin the blame on Logan for killing Felix in the first place?? insane writing.

• afterthought: what happened to Hannah’s dad if he recanted his testimony?? Did the Fitzpatrick’s do anything to him? Is he still alive???

Book Review for Snowed In

While it is a standalone story, Snowed In takes place a little over two years after Holiday Romance. Keeping the same snappy dialogue and Walsh wit, Snowed In takes us back to the small town we fell in love with before, reintroduces us to the Fitzpatrick clan, and shows us that with a little Christmas magic, anything is possible. I will warn you, read Holiday Romance first; otherwise, you will have spoilers and may not understand the story of Andrew and Molly that continues in Snowed In.

Megan just needs a win! It’s bad enough that she is still deemed a social pariah for running out on her wedding day five years ago. Yes, she left the village golden boy Isaac at the alter but she just couldn’t face the rest of her life being with the only man that was her first… well everything! She figured life would be waiting for her when she finally broke free. What was waiting for her, horrible first dates and failed relationships. It wouldn’t be so bad if she was doing well in her career but, while she loves her job, saying she lives a modest lifestyle is an understatement. All of this she could cope with but the idea of returning to her village, aka the scene of the crime, after all these years away is not helping her look forward to the upcoming holiday. That has to be why she was willing to entertain Christian Fitzpatrick’s outlandish plan: Being each other’s fake date (i.e. backup) while they are home for the holidays. Christian’s family would avoid meddling in his life for once and Megan may actually survive running into Isaac, the scrutiny of her town, and her mother’s fundraiser. It’s a plan that is just crazy enough to work… or one hilarious failure to watch!

I never want Catherine Walsh's books to end! When you hit that last page and she beautifully wraps up the story, you feel like she just gave you a one of a kind gift.

Can't sleep, watching Elizabeth's Gaskell's Wives and Daughters and just remembering how much I just want to scoop up Molly and Cynthia and Rodger and Osbourne (and Amiee and baby) and take them away from all their judgemental/emotionally abusive parents/ step-parents and manipulative ex finances and gossiping townspeople and put them in a nice modern apartment together somewhere with warm blankets and no drama where they can get married and raise baby and study bugs and go to parties in peace.

Things that Veronica Mars Season 4 Did That Were Good: 1. Let Logan go to therapy and be a well-adjusted adult!!! Mr. Echolls I'm so fucking proud of you!!! 2. So I don’t follow a lot of UK news, but this struck me as surprising because  Prof Noel Fitzpatrick , the Supervet famous/infamous for giving just about anything a go, surgically, actually said “No, don’t do this.” Apparently even Supervet has a limit, and it’s the English Bulldog. Look at the hips.

Second thing to note is how toxic the breeders and bulldog fans suddenly turned when the pup’s owner started to question why the breed specifically has no meaningful health testing done in the UK. You can’t argue that they’re breeding these dogs for the ‘betterment of the breed’ when there is no actual evidence that’s been done.

Bulldog breeders in general have been super political about health testing there dogs, which I suspect is why there’s so many offshoots of Bulldogs (English, Olde English, American, Australian, etc), and I’ve seen useless health certificates brought in to be scanned and, admittedly, more genetic testing done for color genes than for health ones. So, not really surprised at the rest of the article.
