I will do my best to answer since most of my favorites are unfinished and waiting for me to have time to complete them asdfgh anyway, starting from the bottom:

5. Unfinished, unposted work: Worth the Wait

This one is fun because it's something I'm currently working on and I am soo obsessed with it; it's an AU of a fantasy game that I've put way too many hours into recently. I think that the overall premise of the story is something akin to finding things in places that you wouldn't expect them to be, which I always love when it comes to Gintoki and Hijikata, because that's kind of like, their thing? It's set right now to be three or four chapters long and ahh I can't wait for it to be done. I hope, like usual, that the AU doesn't shy people away because they might not know about it/played the game. :') I can't help I only like writing AUs I'm sorry adsfgh

4. Fahrenheit

This story has such humble beginnings and such a warm place in my heart. It was actually the first ginhiji fic I ever wrote and oh god, it was fucking horrible. Rewrote it when I matured more as a writer and am hoping that I figure out where exactly I want this one to end because it's a bit of a toss-up. Right now, I am simply enjoying writing all the modern-day fluff and antics (and sex) until the plot decides to cement itself properly in my brain.

3. Hirudinea

The big one, the one that my brain refuses to write even though I have the plot all there waiting for me to write it. The powerpoint for this story is crazy. I'm looking forward to one day getting to tie this one up with a nice little bow and give it the proper love it deserves, but I want to finish other things first. Forcing myself to write things only ever ends in me hating them and I refuse for that to be the case with this story because there is so much love for it in me and seemingly in the community <3

2. Ninety-Nine and The Flight, the Fall, and the Forsaking of a Crow

There are two for this spot because I can't make up my mind. The Flight is another one with very humble beginnings. I wrote this, god, six or so years ago originally? Rewrote it when I started posting my work and fell in love with the new rendition of it so much. I'm such a sucker for transformations and gaining new understandings of the world, which is exactly what Gintoki gets to go through, which is why it means so much to me. The pacing is there, the emotion is there. Truly one of my favorites of mine that remind myself that I can write sometimes, LOL.

Ninety-nine I love because it is so easy to write. It's the child that never backtalks, never gets in trouble-- it's just golden. The plot for this is fleshed out all the way to the end and the powerpoint is thirty slides longer than Hirudinea's at a whopping 91 slides. It's a beast. I have end chapters completely written, just waiting for the rest of it to catch up. While definitely not my most popular piece, it's the one that I love to work on the most and I hope I can give it the ending that it deserves :') ahhh there's so much I want to say but can't so I'll just leave it here and talk about it later when it gets closer to being complete.

Things That Happen During the In-Between

Certainly did not expect this work to get the recognition that it did when it was posted. When I tell y'all that I hated this story for the longest time because I reread the same scenes fifteen, twenty times over, edited each one at least three or four times super in-depth to the point where it became beyond predictable in my mind. So then I post this, and people are all like "I cried!" I'm like HUH what do you mean you cried? this work sucks?? So then I waited like a month, reread it, and understood that yeah, okay, I actually didn't do that bad of a job with this one. My personal favorite aspect of this story is the characterization, because there are so many parts where I can read through it and say with confidence that that's a very "them" thing to say/do. (I also just love and adore the second movie, it's such a good film and I'm glad that I was able to do it some justice with this story.)

whooooooo thank you for the ask! 💜💜💜 I haven’t watched iasip tho so I’ll just answer the other three, here we go:

BNHA:

Favorite character : Bakugou Katsuki, hands down. I love his complex inner struggle and amazing character development.

Second favorite character : Maybe Izuku? idk, they’re all great, but am not really invested on other character besides Katsuki.

Least favorite character : Mineta, no argument.

The character I’m most like : uhhhh, I guess my inner struggle is a bit like Katsuki wwww

Favorite pairing : Katsudeku, both romantic or brotp is okay. I also like Kacchako or Dekuraraka a bit, but to be frank I don’t give much thought about shipping in MHA. I’m okay if any ship becomes canon or even if there’s no canon ship in the end.

Least favorite pairing : anything with Mineta in it

Favorite moment : the moment when Katsuki brokenly shouted why he was the reason of All Might’s demise. Man, that’s peak turning point in character development right there.

Rating out of 10 : 7.5/10. It’s surprisingly good for a shounen with general premise like school and heroes. Also, the characters are beautifully fleshed out. Though I’m feeling anxious lately bc of Shigaraki’s sudden OP power-burst. Would be 8/10 if there’s no Mineta.

Gintama:

Favorite character : Sakata Gintoki, hands down. He’s my all time fave character.

Second favorite character : tied between Hijikata Toushirou or Shimura Shinpachi. Man, I want my boy Shinpachi to get the love he deserves.

Least favorite character : Tokugawa Sadasada. He’s just... gross. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

The characteyr I’m most like : a bit like Gintoki and a bit like Sougo.

Favorite pairing : GINHIJI FTW, AND YES, GIN TOPS!!!! OkiKagu is a close second.

Least favorite pairing : anything involving the Yorozuya members together, like GinKagu, GinShin or ShinKagu. Just.... no. THEY’RE CANONICALLY LIVING AS FATHER/CHILDREN OR SIBLINGS GODDAMMIT!!!

Favorite moment : are you seriously asking me this? can I even make a list of it hgdjhfkkh. I CAN’T CHOOSE DAMMIT. Basically everything involving the (extended) Yorozuya’s family bond. But jhsgkdfgsjkghfashf my heart would always bleed for that scene where Gin left his kids to go back to the past in the second movie, also when I hear them shouting that it wasn’t what they wanted. MAN MY HEART IS STILL BLEEDING.

Rating out of 10 : 9/10. Damn it’s near perfect.

also, for @walktooblivion who asked for Soul Eater:

Favorite character : Soul Evans, hands down. as if it isn’t obvious lol

Second favorite character : Wes Evans wwwwww. But he’s tied with Maka Albarn.

Least favorite character : Flying Dutchman. I find him more annoying than Excalibur, gosh.

The character I’m most like : many people had accused me of being similar to Soul.

Favorite pairing : SoMa, duh, wwwww

Least favorite pairing : I’m sorry but... I just can’t with CroMa or SteinMedusa. Like... I know why they’re shipped and I understand their dynamics but... just no.

Favorite moment : all the soma moments lol but anyway, the Clown Arc ✨

Rating out of 10 : 4.5/10. Bit surprising isn’t it, esp for ppl who haven’t followed me for long, considering over half of my blog’s content is about this show. But overall I don’t think it’s that great of a series to be honest, BUT BUT BUT BUT it’s such a great playground full of amazing characters AND glorious concepts so I have a very complicated relationship with this series gkdhgjgjkgdh. The anime has 5.5/10 tho ✨

ginhiji hospital au??

I needed to get this off of my brain and I can’t draw or write so here it goes... Ginhiji but Hijikata is a nurse working in a hospital and Gintoki is the new resident who comes off as lazy but is actually a really good doctor (which surprises our boy Toushi)

More thoughts under the cut? (I have more thoughts about hijikata because.... i have more experience there LOL)

I’ve been a working nurse for more than half a year now so I kind of know what I’m talking about? (but not really because i’m definitely still a baby nurse that’s still learning OTL) but really im a baby don’t ask me specifics

I got into Gintama super late and I have so many regrets because it’s taken over my life.

hijikata working in either medsurg, ICU, or emergency because it’s not slow, needs great time management skills and working under pressure /but i have a bias for medsurg because that’s where i am right now... but i feel like he would definitely be the same kind of intense that some ICU nurses i know are...

he’s definitely the type to not take a proper break at work... would probably eat saltines from the nutrition room

reason 1: he’s too busy

reason 2: hates to go on break if he has to leave hella shit for the person covering him (so he give all his meds, clean his patients, give pain meds...make sure they NEVER call the person covering him on break) but that also means when things don’t calm down he feels like there’s never an opening for one

meanwhile he will give meds, clean patients, and do everything for whoever he covers for break

when this happens kondo sends yamazaki to cover him for breaks because you can’t tell patients to eat their food when you haven’t eaten toushi

is really good at putting in IVs, nobody on the unit even tries to put them in when he’s working they’ll just ask him to do it for them

a charting superuser lol

his brain... impeccable. a work of art. a pinnacle of organization. made his own because the hospital issued one doesn’t work for him

probably looks something like this

note: allows you do just quickly circle things during shift change instead of writing it all down...i would probably make past medical history section bigger though (do i use a sheet like this? no because i am... organized chaos and writing it down helps ME--but toushi probably wants to take as little time possible writing shit down)

reads his work e-mail, even the newsletters from the hospital

kondo is nurse manager and is a very supportive one (the potlucks!!! tries his best to make sure everyone feels supported at work ; w ;) hired hijikata..

when hijikata is charge, the work is distributed evenly thank god

also “it’s an hour until shift change and if this patient doesn’t come up in 10 minutes they’re not coming until after shift change”

everyone asks him for help because he knows all the hospital policies

what nurse isn’t frustrated with doctors lets be real

exhibit A: “my patient is in TEARS with 10/10 pain and the doctors have the audacity to ask if THEY TRIED TO DISTRACT THEMSELVES WITH ART?” (this is a literal conversation I’ve had with a resident before)

hates talking to interns because he ends up having to teach them how to do their job

hates talking to jaded attendings

only attending he likes is shouyo

used to have long hair in nursing school but cut it after his ponytail got into some shit during a bed bath

still smokes.. kondo hates it because we’ve all seen what it’s done to our patients and you still smoke?

has tried to quit but never works out

gintoki also gets on his case about it

just imagine hijikata in those black figs joggers scrubs UGH

in this universe they’re called digs because copyright and this is still gintama we’re talking about

these scrubs are unnecessarily expensive so he didn’t actually buy them himself ( “why the fuck would i buy expensive scrubs if i am going to get literal shit on it”).. if left to his own devices he will wear those ugly ass hospital issued scrubs

Kondo and his other friends split the price for the black joggers and a 3 pocket scrub top -- because we all know hijikata puts ALL his supplies in his pockets. he NEEDS pockets

Gintoki thinks his ass looks good in those joggers UGH

Hijikata won’t admit it but the digs are his favorite pair they are so comfortable. still won’t buy them with his own money though

student nurses are scared of him because he’s intense and asks hard questions, really strict... doesn’t bully but pushes students and orientees really hard

but also any one who can survive being trained by him becomes an excellent nurse

that nurse that’s on top of their shit and THINKS instead of just following orders

“saw his potassium is high. can we do something about that?”

“there wasn’t continuous oxygen monitoring ordered but i put them on because it doesn’t look good. can we get an order for that”

all the doctors trust him because he’s just so goOD

gets on gintoki’s case about looking like a bum at the hospital all the time

if he EVER catches wind of doctors talking down to his nurses or older nurses bullying the newer ones (which never really happens because kondo is a great manager who fosters a very nontoxic work culture) they will...FEEL. HIS. WRATH.

also will not tolerate patients treating him (or his coworkers) like shit. will be more professional dealing with patients tho than with the MDs. but if it’s an MD berating a nurse, they better be ready to get their ass KICKED

Gintoki is the new resident along with katsura and takasugi in.... internal medicine? surgery? idk?

i mostly just wanted write this one: hijikata has a patient in a pain crisis 10/10 pain, given all available pain meds, tried everything possible but still no relief. paged the new resident working with this patient

hijikata fully expects either a call saying “sorry i can’t order any more pain medicine for this patient” or just another IV medicine ordered with no communication at all

but gintoki comes into the patient’s room (first thing hijikata notices is unprofessional hair, wrinkled jacket, mismatching socks and thinks this doctor is going to be lazy AF), speaks to the patient with great bedside manner, talks to the patient about pain management strategies and WORKS WITH THEM for a better plan for medication. walks with the patient in the hall and even takes them to the bathroom

hijikata is FLOORED. because this never happens with MDs.

(this has actually happened and me and all my coworkers were SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED)

hijikata once sent gintoki a message asking if he wanted to lower the dose for a medication because the lab for it was high

gintoki thought he was the pharmacist because hijikata is just that good

likes the sound of hijikata’s voice on the phone so he always returns his pages even if it’s just to say “ok i’ll put the order in”

secretly gets excited when he sees hijikata’s name on the chart under the care team

one because he’s hot

two because he’s a good nurse

actually learns a lot from hijikata

gets to know hijikata’s bad break habits and gives him a coffee whenever he notices he’s working (but is absolutely disgusted when he brings out the mayonnaise)

“how can you tell your patients to be healthy when you put that shit in everything you eat?”

hijikata counters with “you can’t tell me what to eat when you’re on your way to diabetes asshole”

tries to be the kind of MD shouyo is

being in healthcare is hard so the two of them do drink together if their days off line up to vent....

hijikata complains about dumb MDs (gintoki makes mental notes on how to not be an annoying MD), how busy his days are, and why are we always understaffed... how can we run out of IVs?

gintoki complains about all the calls he gets, how stressful residency is, why are rounds so early, that midget takasugi, the long ass working hours, being on call fuckin sucks

both bond over sharing crazy stories about patients or how their day went....also hospital complaints because what healthcare worker doesn’t complain about their hospital

get into “who’s job is more stressful” arguments a lot

on particularly hard (emotionally, physically, mentally) days the other would show up with a bag of food and drinks?

when the two start dating, it’s usually just... hanging out at work?

if somehow by some miracle, they get their breaks together (if at all) they eat together

if they do have days off together they usually spend it sleeping (literally you guys) or relaxing at one of their apartments

sleep deprived healthcare workers lead to many....petty...arguments but they make up by the end

it’s late and i have more thoughts? but i have work tomorrow. but i needed to get this OUT OF MY BRAIN.

You know... it really kinda confuses me that HijiGin is still the big mlm Ginship in this fandom. Like no hate to it, it's great, but Gintaka... has it all... the rivalry, the angst, the backstory, the soulmates... I expected a sharp GinTaka boost in the fandom and yet it never happened??? Gintama fandom is wild

Well, it's no wonder when you consider that Hijikata had a lot more screentime than Takasugi, and a lot more interactions with Gintoki. Even I didn't care about Takasugi and gintaka until their fight back then in 2014 lmao🤣

In that sense, yes there was a sharp gintaka boost in the fandom, but since so little was known about their relationship, you could say that at that time it just started to... bloom haha. It was impossible for it to catch up with mlm ships that had been around for much longer, like ginzura and ginshin (gintoki x shinpachi... yes, I know), let alone ginhiji.

You also have to consider that what you ship is closely related to how much you like the characters that compose it, individually. And Gintoki and Hijikata are the two most popular characters in Gintama. However, if you add up all the votes from the six polls that were taken (actually I did it here lol), Takasugi is in third place. He'd a boost at the end when he started to appear more, which suggests that things could've been different if he'd had more screentime and more interactions with Gintoki from the beginning.

The first time I saw Gintama, I did it, so to speak, without the influence of the fandom, just on my own. It was a surprise when I found out that ginhiji and okikagu were the most popular pairings because I never saw them that way. At that time I liked ginzura and ginsaka (joui pairings) better. I think it may be related to the fact that I generally don't like cops in media, and I tend to support the side of the revolutionaries 😂

In short, the experiences are different for each one, and they will dictate what we like, with whom we identify and how we see things. Not everyone feels the same and that's okay, the important thing is to enjoy the ship you like. The rivalry, the angst, the backstory, the soulmates, are elements I still enjoy a lot about gintaka 👌

Uhhh I feel like I’m being annoying and inconsiderate but is there anyway I can read your fics? I just got into gintama & ginhiji but I hear from my friends and everyone that your stories were the best so I wanted to try and ask you if I can read them in any way? V sorry if this was annoying and I made you uncomfortable, if so, then just ignore this ask please!

This is neither annoying nor inconsiderate and I’m not uncomfortable at all! You know, honestly, the only time I get annoyed with people on here is when we’ve never spoken before and they message me with a link and go, “Reblog this from me!” And I’m just sitting there whispering, “The least you could do is say hi first.” I don’t know, I just think it’s rude when people want/expect things from me, but don’t even bother to tell me their name first LOL So anyway, you’re good!

You know, it’s unspeakably humbling that over 2 years after I deleted all my stuff, people are still talking about them. That blows my mind. I never thought that would be a thing when I deleted them and yet here we are two years later and people are still coming to me about them. How amazing is that? So I’d just like to take a quick moment to say thank you to you, your friends, and everyone for continuing to talk about my work so positively, that really means a lot!

Now, onto your question! I’ve answered this in different ways since I’ve deleted and I’m going to throw some links at you, but please don’t feel like I’m annoyed. I don’t expect people to troll through my blog looking for old asks and they’re easy for me to find.

This ask I think answers you the best and it’s the most recent one I wrote.

This ask is important to read because I’ve never and will never be ashamed of my fanfiction and that’s not why I deleted.

This ask is also important I think.

I hope that answers you well enough! I really have thought about going back and revamping some fics so that they’re more up to my current standards and abilities, but currently, prying me away from my original works is next to impossible since I’m so invested. Plus I had over 100 fics and that’s a lot of time going through and editing, especially for the chapter fics. Wing fic was, when finished, around 350k words and my one shot Laughter Lines was 91 pages and that’s just 2 fics out of over 100 right there. My fics tended to be very long and that has never backfired on me until now when it comes to redoing them LOLOL

One thing I really want to suggest is to please CHECK OUT THIS PAGE! I was very fortunate to have received a ton of fanart from readers and there’s a lot of excellent GinHiji / HijiGin content there for you to feast your eyes on! Please come back if you’d like a more in depth answer about something or if you have any other questions =u=

1. things that inspire you - other than my shittyboring life, movies and books i’m currently watching/reading or oldfavs, i don’t really know how to deal with inspiration tbh. for awhile now instead of being struck by a sudden idea, i just tend toplay scenarios over and over in my head until i’m insane or findone that fits the story

8. what time are you most productive? creatively (&by that i mean not editing) probably night/late night

11. do you listen to music when writing? instrumentalor jazz only, if i’m having a hard time i just shut it off cause mybrain is a pain

13. hardest character to write - characters that are(mostly) comic-relief in canon because it’s hard to predict howthey would act in more serious situations (especially IRL), plussometimes i just don’t know how to manage their funny traits so iditch them. also characters i consider underdeveloped IC or too one-dimensional. basically characters i don’t like much lol

14. easiest character to write - no character is evereasy, but i feel really comfortable writing otose, dont ask me why

15. hardest verse to write - lmao that whole flashbackscene in how fools when toshi backtracks to their room to saygoodbye, i actually broke a sweat. other than that, transition scenesr always horrible to write cause i want them to matter and beinformative (move the pace etc) but also not be boring. theyfrustrate me to no end

16. easiest verse to write - every single line gintokisays to intentionally fuck with toshi’s heart :)

37. canon or AU? - depends on a million differentfactors tbh. as a reader I’m pretty faithful to canon, when i startto get into a fandom/ship i always look for canon stuff first. myinterest in AUs only comes later and it’s really hard to find goodones too. even as a writer i start by writing canon-universe stories.i only ever step into AUs when i’m comfortable enough with thesource material

Oofa doofa – Hello, anon, this has always confused people and when I first started this blog, it made sense because I had a really long fic called Justaway, but anyway, I am SkyChasingDreamer. I just always posted updates for everything from this blog. I did also go through and delete my fics, so that’s why you’re not seeing them lol I left a few up, which I may come back to someday and post the rest of since it’s all already written, but I can make no promises at this time.

The final fanfic I did, which ended up being something like 89 pages or so, was featured exclusively in the Onwards GinHiji / HijiGin zine I hosted.

17 February 2018 – deleted over 100 fics today, leaving only these 3 chapter fics behind. I’ve mostly deleted them, but there is a chance I may come back and post the rest of them someday. However, I can’t say when or if that will happen. With my original works becoming more and more popular, it’s time I put all my time and energy into that exclusively =u=

what made you ship ginhiji??? and do you still love them?

The short answer is that I thought they had nice chemistry during their second encounter together. Their first encounter was fun and I can imagine it left a very lasting impression, but that meeting was too short to really get a feel for how they might be together. Their second encounter, however, on that roof, HHAAAAAA THEIR CHEMISTRY WAS SO THERE IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Of all the people Gintoki met, I felt Hijikata was the one he had the most chemistry with and Sorachi validated that over and over and over again and he keeps validating it. It’s amazing! They’re such good friends now and they trust each other so much, it’s just so perfect! It’s not like they met and immediately one was in love with the other or some bullshit like that. Their progression has been legitimate, consistent, and they’ve grown together. One is not more dependent on the other, they’re on equal footing with one another, the respect and friendship goes both ways and it’s just perfect. Oh my god I’ve written so goddamn much about their relationship because Sorachi has just done an incredible job giving it representation.

Of course I still love them? Why wouldn’t I? Have I given the impression that I haven’t? Sorry for all the questions, it’s just like I am the one that put the GinHiji / HijiGin zine together -- it’s called Onwards and you can find all the info on it here. I invited a bunch of artists, a lot of whom are my friends, and I wrote an 89 page fic for the zine. In total, the zine is 164 pages and I’ve also written over 100 fics for the pairing. I’m sorry if I’ve somehow given the impression that I don’t love them anymore, but that could not be a more inaccurate statement lol I still love them so fucking much and always will =u=
