[WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN]

Believe it or not, originally even when they were making the utter insanity that was Bebe's Kids, it was going to be revealed later that Jamika and Dorothea were actually a married couple that had a falling out and coincidentally met/used Robin as a way of moving on. The catch is they were still married as Dorothea refused to divorce.

Plus it was ALSO going to be revealed that Jamika and Dorothea aren't black but are white women who were permanently tanned in an accident and changed their names.

All of this would've been towards the end of the movie in a now cut scene where Dorothea goes to Jamika's house and having a change of heart shockingly, convinces her to go back to Robin and even gives her the location of where he's at — the bar that he's in during the wraparounds. Which explains how Jamika somehow knew he was there at the end of the movie.

But when Jamika asks what about the two of them, Dorothea says she still won't divorce but at the same time wants Jamika to be happy. Therefore when the time is right and the two of them are ready, she'll show right back up and join them, flat-out implying they'll be a fucking polyamorous couple before she gives Jamika a long goodbye kiss similar to the one Jamika gives Robin at the end right down to the spinning camera around them and walks off into the night.

All of this ends up putting their few interactions in the actual movie in a whole new light as they act like they absolutely don't know each other nor reveal their connections.

On this day, 17 June 2015, the Charleston church massacre took place in South Carolina when a 21-year-old white supremacist murdered nine Black worshippers at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The racist entered the church during a Bible study group. After the session, the parishioners held hands in a prayer circle, at which point he pulled out a gun and began killing as many people as possible. Amongst the victims were Clementa C. Pinckney, 41; Cynthia Graham Hurd, 54; Susie J. Jackson, 87; Ethel Lee Lance, 70; DePayne Middleton-Doctor, 49; Tywanza Sanders, 26; Daniel L Simmons Sr., 74; Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, 45, and Myra Thompson, 59. Many people were angered by police double standards upon seeing the armed killer being peacefully apprehended by police, who then gave him a bullet-proof jacket and bought him a meal from Burger King. Whereas there had been a rash of police killings of unarmed Black people apprehended for much less serious alleged crimes, like Walter Scott who was shot to death after being spotted with a broken brake light. It was one of the best times of the year for Michigan Sports, especially when they had a killer team to take them all the way.

Michigan Football was in the BIG10 race, people already counting them out against Ohio State, but they surprised people and surpassed expectations when they beat them, causing Michigan fans to be pumped for what was to come.

You, however, hadn’t been able to make any of the games this season. You knew this disappointed JJ as you had never missed a game if possible.

Work and school had you stressed to the max, your time being fully consumed by both, plus an extra curricular activities you had as well.

You were lucky enough to go to Michigan State, although you didn’t mind wearing maize and blue for him. It did make things easier because you were able to see him, but it still sucked you weren’t able to be there for him all the time- like you had hoped when you applied at MSU.

“Are you going to be able to make it tonight?” JJ asked over the phone.

You had a grin on your face, waiting for the question he asked pretty much every home game.

“Not tonight J. They scheduled me right during the time you’ll be playing, but we’ll be watching.” You tried to sound disappointed, but you weren’t sure if you were hiding it very well.

“Oh.” He whispered, “I just thought- never mind. I’ll talk to you later babe.” He said before hanging up, not even giving you a chance to response.

Perfect.

You were hoping he wouldn’t figure it out. He had you location on his phone, but you knew he wouldn’t be checking it hours before the game. The only time he really looked at it was when you weren’t responded, just to see if you were okay and where you were.

It was a protection type thing- not a controlling thing.

You met up with some of his teammates girlfriends, they grinning ear to ear that you had finally been able to make a game for his sophmore season. The season had been important to him, everyone realizing this- especially because he had became the full time starter after Cade McNamara had transferred out, instead of splitting games like it was supposed to be.

“I’m glad you decided to come.” Myra grinned as she tossed her around around you.

She had helped you plan this, especially because of where the parking would be sparse with this game being a big one.

“Me too. I know it’s bothered him.” You sighed, “He just hasn’t said anything.”

“It has. He’s talked to the boys about it and obviously they’ve mentioned it to us, but he’s not going to make you feel bad over it.”

“Well that doesn’t help.” You mumbled, “That makes me feel worse that he didn’t come to me about it.”

“He didn’t want to make you feel bad, like I said.”

You shrugged as you two kept walking, eventually finding yourself on the first row in the student section- right behind where the boys would be.

The game was close to starting so JJ was still on the field warming up with his teammates, getting ready to throw one of the biggest games of his career.

The coaches called the boys over, him walking towards the huddle with his head down.

Donovan Edwards nudged him arm, him pointing over to where you were standing with his girlfriend, “She’s here.” He grinned.

JJ’s head shot up, “Where?”

“There.”

JJ played the best game he’s played in a while, the final score not being close. Not that he hadn’t played well in other games, this one meant the most to him. He was in a championship game and you were here.

“You came!” He laughed as he saw you running towards him, “You said- what?”

“You really thought I’d miss this?” You laughed as you jumped in his arms, him spinning the two of you around.

“You said you had to work.” He said as he put you down, “I thought-“

“It was to throw you off. I wanted to surprise you. I’ve missed every game this year and I figured if I missed this one, you wouldn’t suspect anything.” You admitted, “but really, it pissed you off.”

“It did. It hurt a lot too.” He laughed, “but I wasn’t going to tell you that. I know you have things going on as well.” He added, “I’m just glad you’re here.”

“I am too. I wanted to make the others, I just couldn’t get off work.” You sighed, “But I made it to this one, that’s all that matters.”

“And the fact we’re champions.”

“That too.”

J's family loves MC. Logan was a bit 'meh' at first because of reasons. Even if they didn't date publicly, J's dad could tell that J cared a lot about them and always considered them part of the family. Same with Travis’ moms.

Statler's step-mom is srsly amazing and she always views their partners (so just Noir and MC lol) as an extension of their family. Statler's dad barely acknowledges MC sjdja and Statler's mom isn't even planned to appear.

Uma's is a bit more hot and cold. Rohan adores anyone Uma likes, Anika is much harder to please, and Myra doesn't care akkdlad As for Uma's parents, they're rarely involved ("That's your friend? Good. Nice")

Wanda's parents are... Wanda's parents. They never liked MC.

And Kai's family is even worse. Tho I think their sister would eventually come around liking MC.

Annoyed because I saw post about LGBT history which mid thread has like 5 guilt trip "____ won't reblog this" type additions, which particularly bothered me because it also just straight up contains misinformation about Marsha P. Johnson. Mainly repeating the common claim that she started the Stonewall riots, among other inaccuracies. Johnson herself has denied being the instigator during the riots, directly stating that she wasn't even present when they started.¹ ² That's not to say she isn't worth remembering (I honestly find it fucking insulting to imply the only action worth remembering was starting the riots anyways). She was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front, ³ was an activist involved in the ACT UP movement, ⁴ and is a prominent artist in general. (also look up both of those things if you haven't heard of them, they're interesting and incredibly important in queer history (or don't, I'd recommend it though, but no judgment if you choose not to rn)). Like fucks sake can we recognize important figures in queer history without just outright lying about the things they did? I respect her 1000x more for role in the Gay Liberation Front than I would if her only action of note was throwing a fucking shot glass. It's almost downplaying what she did for the community in a way.

Literally 0 judgment if you re blogged it unless you did so to shame people for not spreading blatant misinformation. That said please do not believe anything you read online uncritically. And please, if you are going to add on some snarky guilt tripping reply to something you see, do the bare minimum to check that it's at least true. Preferably you wouldn't do it at all, but still. Species Dysphoria

We saw some concerns over the legitimacy of species dysphoria as a term appear on our dashboard yesterday and wanted to share some bits of information regarding it:

Species dysphoria has been used since at least the 90s. [1] Species dysphoria has been talked about it being a thing in queer publication since at least 1997. [2] And its continued to talk about in literature about being queer as being a thing since then. [3]

Species dysphoria has been used by academics since the late 2000s and has continued to be discussed more and more ever since. [4] Also, for Othercon 2021, we did a whole survey and subsequent panel “The Use and Misuse of The Term Transspecies“ which covered people’s feelings on species dysphoria along with people’s options on the term transspecies. Our survey found at - Roughly 77% of respondents experience species dysphoria, & - An overwhelming number of respondents viewed the use of the term positively. [5]

Based on this information and more, we feel that it is clear to say that, species dysphoria is perfectly valid term to use in the community. Full stop.
