describing a fic i've daydreamed about but not written (yet)

this one is long bc i've thought about it. a lot. for weeks.

okay so technically i've started writing about this one but!! it's this silly little fic where the stranger things Teens (the spicy six if you will) wind up going on a hunt for mothman??

so robin's this real superstitious believer person and she finds ghosts and aliens and cryptids fascinating and after all the upside down bullshit she's convinced it's not too unbelievable for those things to actually exist. eddie...just likes weird shit, and he honestly loves listening to robin ramble on about ghost stories and haunted buildings and weird creatures that no one can ever get clear photo's of - and then one night robin's telling him about mothman and he's like "actually that one sounds sick, we have to find out if that one's real" and that's like?? as much planning as they put into it??

robin's like "fuck yeah we do" so then they're planning this trip to west virginia and nancy finds out about it and she's like "??why tf are you going to west virgina?" so they tell her and she's immediately filled with journalistic curiosity and also a burning need to keep these two idiots from dying in the woods

nancy then tells jonathan about it because "well, if this mothman creature is real we're going to want proof" and at this point jargyle are as inseparable as robin&steve so now argyles coming to and then they're like "how are we getting there??" and robin's like "dont you worry about a thing, i know a guy" and everyone knows it's going to be steve; but the thing is, because it was robin asking, he didn't even really question it?? she said "hey, we need a ride this weekend" and he was like "yeah okay"

so then the day they leave, steve's just kind of following nancy's directions and then when they stop for snacks he's finally like "wait where are we going?" which is how he finds out he's driving them to a whole other state and when he's all scowly and hands-on-his-hips about it and asking why the fuck- robin and eddie are like "we just need to see if mothman is real" and steve's like "what the fuck is a mothan?!"

anyway they end up in point pleasant and steve still doesn't really know why they're there but he's not going to let them all go traipsing through unfamiliar woods on their own, even if nancy wheeler is with them and then this is where it splits off between the Sensible Idea and the Silly Fun Idea

sensible idea: they either don't end up finding mothman (it's there tho, steve actually looks right at it but doesn't notice bc he left his glasses in the car) or manage to get a blurry photo of it becomes robin and eddie's prized posession

silly fun idea: they fight mothman

mixed into all this there's a healthy dose of mutual pining (ronance + steddie), bed sharing + road trip shenanigans
