You looked around for a place to sit, realizing there was none amongst the piles of books and clothes and computer accessories that littered every usable space. You opted to remain standing then, while Jaehyun eyed you curiously.

“I need a huge favor, Mark mentioned you could do it and it was really my only option, I wouldn’t ask otherwise and put you in that position but I’ve really tried my best and now I might not graduate so I would really appreciate it if you could help me out.”

Jaehyun stared at you blankly, while you blinked a few times at him while processing what you just said. “What I mean is, can you change my grades?”

Comprehension finally dawned on his face, and he smiled somewhat sheepishly. “Um, yeah, I absolutely can, yeah for sure.” He’d pulled his hood down and you could swear you saw the tips of his ears turn red. Your heart did something funny in your chest at the sight of it.

“They do psychiatric assessments on everyone who donates.”

You weren’t at all serious, you were just mainly upset and unfortunately, taking it out on him, but he actually sat back in his chair, eyebrows raised, as if he were contemplating it.

“Anyway, forget it. I don’t need your approval. I just hoped that you’d support me, of all people.” You couldn’t help but pout. He was your best friend and he’d stuck with you when no one else had. You may have said you didn’t need his approval but deep down you wanted him to be on your side.

He leaned forward, took his sunglasses off and looked you in the eye. “Of course I support you,” he said sincerely. “If this is what you want, then I’m with you one hundred percent of the way.”

You smiled, your heart feeling lighter, and just as you took a sip of your latte he said the one thing that would complicate your life forever.

“But I get to be that sperm donor.”
