I didn't realize how suicidal I was until yesterday we were at some family friends and and the friend's sister is a nurse, she mostly helps on surgery and she comment that if I ever need an emergency surgery I would probably die before because of the many piercings I have and the acrylic nails and we laughed (because we know she didn't mean it in a bad way) but I found myself muttering "hopefully"... I don't think anyone heard me but it came so natural that it shook even myself...

"I've never understood why he likes knives" Such simple words should not have gotten the reaction they did. Andrew went still and looked up, but he didn't look at Neil. He looked at Renee, so Neil did too. She'd stopped mid-sentence to stare at Neil, but the Renee studying him wasn't the Foxes redeemed optimist. Her sweet smile was gone and the too-blank look on her face reminded Neil of Andrew. Neil instinctively tensed for flight-or-flight. Before his body figured out what to do, Renee shifted her inscrutable gaze to Andrew. They stared each other down, soundless and still, oblivious to the bewildered looks their teammates sent between them. (pg. 34)

Especially since in TRK, when Neil and Renee talk, she says "But if you are as like us as we first predicted you to be, perhaps one day you can also come to see me as a friend."

Also the general fact that, there is a certain sense of... interest to me, I guess in the fact that Neil was purposely vague in hopes that everyone in the room would think he was speaking of Riko, when really he was talking about his father, who's his own monster from his past, and comparably made the two of them think of their own. Renee confirms this later to him(when she offers to teach him to wield knives), and Neil actually wonders about Andrew in that conversation as well.

It’s been a while since I sent an ask but I wanted to share these hcs;

Shinso’s biological father being an Eastern European immigrant

Bakugou being aspec abrosexual as in he is in a perpetual state of moving on the asexual spectrum

Kaminari was nefed in power and intelligence so in my head he’s the top student in literature but because he’s failing math, just barely passing science, and all his other subjects he’s a C student

I also think he uses big words in casual conversation and his quirk’s drawback is from a mental block he developed after a traumatic experience with his quirk

Kirishima gains weight to improve his quirk but loses weight after losing it so his weight fluctuates but is still chonky boi that gives good hugs and has big muscles

Jirou went deaf as a child but she uses her jacks as built in hearing aids

Ochako has been volunteering at soup kitchens since she was a little kid and is close to her dad, who experienced homelessness as a teenager

Mina has five brothers and two sisters, lives with her grandmother and single mom aunt who has a toddler her family has been raising all together

Todoroki had bpd before PTSD but they weren’t diagnosed until after the war and the additional trauma caused him to try something drastic but thankfully it actually helped the family get their shit together

Momo lives alone with the butler as her parents are never around and her sister attends/attended military school but she helps momo realize she is being neglected and deserves to decide if she wants to stay involved with their family or take her offer to live together as roommates until one of them moves out

Mitsuki becomes gentler with her son after the war to the point of not wanting him to continue being a hero because she doesn’t want to have to bury her only son

Sero is canonically neighbors with the Yaoyorozus but he has a healthier relationship with his family in that they’re trying their best and he has younger siblings

Tsu doesn’t talk much because she doesn’t want to have to explain her croaks are involuntary because of her tourette’s not her quirk and it’s difficult for her to get people to take her seriously. This also why Bakugo is less rude to her along with her personality of only talking when it’s relevant to the situation or sarcastic comments that he finds funny

He also doesn’t like Izuku’s muttering because 1) he’s worried that he’s plotting something 2) he doesn’t like not being able to hear people in general because it reminds him that his hearing deteriorating. He’s fine with rambling as long as it’s relevant to the situation and he can hear the person speaking

I don’t know if I have anything to add really, I think I agree with pretty much everything you said because it all sounds really interesting

My agency tries to sell rights to as many territories and languages as possible, but we haven't had any offers from Greece so far. I get the sense Greek publishers have been more cautious about which books they buy in recent years, as I don't see as many authors getting translation deals. Priory would definitely be a risky one, due to its size and the cost of translation.

Before introducing the names of my characters, I must emphasize that they all originate from ancient Greece. The reason for this is that the characters actually have roots in Greece (taking into account their location and development within Makai), so it would be ideal if their demonic names came from this ethnicity regardless of their nationality.

Having this in mind, these names would only be used within Makai and characterized as their true and original names, since their secondary names would only work as a cover in the human realm to camouflage and blend in with people. With all this I would also like to add that I headcanon that these demonic names could be given away at their maturity celebration (when they are able to drink blood for the first time) which would be at the age of 10, meanwhile, they would use their human name as an alias.

🫧 Irina: Thalia — Meaning "the merry one" or "the flourishing one," this name comes from one of the 9 muses in Greek mythology, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. This muse presided the comedy and idyllic poetry*, besides that it was one of the three Graces.

This name was given to Irina due to her development and a rather cheerful and gentle personality during her childhood, as well as being quite dreamy and charm due to the romantic fantasy books she read, poetry being one of her all-time favorite genre.

* Idyllic poetry is based on the romantic and sometimes erotic feeling of love, although it does not have dialogue, it comes from the Greek "eidyllion" or small image according to its translation. Of a brief and simple composition, but very expressive that extols a life normally field, giving way to the tranquility and sensuality of an environment, state or moment.

🫧 Zazu: Keelan — Although the origin of this name is unknown, its meaning would be "thin" or "skinny", however, in Gaelic it would be "slender" or "fair".

The reason why Zazu received this name was simply as a taunt or insult that the villagers in the area he lived in used to say, later becoming his final name. These taunts logically attacked his physique, which was quite thin, even becoming malnourished due to the scarcity of food he ate at that time, obviously also appearing very weak.

🫧 Arnold: Basil — It comes from the Greek name 'Basileos' which means "royal", therefore its meaning would be "king" which alleges that he is a powerful and ambitious man. However, interestingly it also means "basil" like the herbaceous grass. According to the legend, there was a basil plant in the place in Jerusalem where Empress Eelena of Constantinople found the True Cross.

The reason for this name was mainly due to the strong and tough character that Arnold presented at an early age, showing great leadership skills and ambition that made him stand out among his other brothers as the best option to inherit the throne. However, it also had a background with basil, which is characteristic for attracting health, fortune and money; as well as being a good luck charm.

🫧 Vera: Calliope — It was another of the 9 muses, prestige of epic poetry* and eloquence besides being the main muse. Its meaning is "the one with the beautiful voice".

Although Vera has been a former human, she was able to be gifted with a demonic name after her transformation into a vampire thanks to Arnold, who gave her this name due to her intelligence and cunning to convince people only by speaking, coming to have a very sweet and serene voice for him being able to listen for hours straight to Vera talking about the most absurd thing.

🫧 Callie: Nefeli — This name comes from the Greek 'nefos', which means "cloud". According to Greek mythology, Nephele was a cloud nymph created by Zeus from a cloud in the image of Hera. Mother of the centaurs, she is also the goddess of hospitality and appears in the story of Frixos and Elli and in the myth of the golden fleece.

The origin of her demonic name is more attached to the Greek mythology, since Camille was born as the spitting image of her mother Vera. So inspired by the myth, they decided to give her this name as she was the nymph with the image of Vera.

🫧 Belmont: Thaddeus — It's a name derived from Theodorus of the greek 'theos' "God" and 'doron' "gift; thus being its meaning "the gift of God" although "brave heart" is also attributed to its derivation.

Belmont was not given this name yet since he is only 7 years old, but when the time comes for his ceremony this would definitely be his demonic name due to his adventurous and energetic spirit, being quite a daring and unscrupulous child.

🫧 Herkus: Iasonas — Coming from the greek 'iason' its meaning would be "the healer". In Greek mythology, Iason was the Thessalian hero who led the Argonauts and went in search of the Golden Fleece, in order to regain the throne of Iolcos, his homeland.

This name was given to him by his own mother wishing that Herkus could get the throne since despite being a bastard son, he still has the right of inheritance even though the chance is quite low due to his reputation.

history / background:

nezha wasn’t born like normal children are. well, he was, but he didn’t look like a normal baby. first of all, babies don’t stay in the womb for three years and some change. second of all, they don’t look like giant meatballs either when they come out. his father had thought him to be a demon, and after cutting the ball apart, nezha appeared as a fully realized child. he could walk, speak, and do the things that any child could, and would later be taken in by an immortal as a student.

during his years as a student, nezha would find that the powers he controlled were not just beyond his control, but also annoying to some of the other powerful beings of the world. in particular, the east dragon of the sea—ao guang. though, to be fair, he was being a jackass and sent people to claim sacrifices so of course nezha was going to beat the scouts into the ground. in retaliation, ao guang would send his son ao bing to fight with nezha as well, and despite going easy on the great dragon, nezha would kill him.

along with the other dragon kings, ao guang gathered to report nezha’s behavior to the jade emperor, and also threatened to flood his home in retribution for his actions. knowing that he was in the wrong ( and also wanting to save the people of his village ), nezha offered himself up to die to pay for what he did.

his death was short-lived however. nezha’s mother would build him a shrine that would house his soul, and his teacher would use the roots of a lotus to construct a new body for nezha. despite the shrine having been burnt down by nezha’s father out of anger, he would still come back to life with his new body, harboring a newfound hatred for his dad. nezha’s mentor would give him the wind-and-fire wheels and his fire-tipped spear.

at some point down the line though nezha ends up forgiving his father for the transgressions set upon him, and became a member of the celestial court. he is responsible as being the grand marshal of the celestial realm’s heavenly forces, and spends his days on guard against great evils.

…great evils and a several-times over immortal monkey that’s a pain in his ass.

powers / abilities:

taoist magic - as a heavenly deity and a student of a great taoist master, nezha is capable of using certain kinds of magical arts. in particular, he is skilled in creating barriers for defense and in creating seals to lock away powerful and important items, such as the map leading to the rings of the samadhi fire. trying to break these seals with force generally create a kickback that causes harm to whoever breaks them.

lotus petals - nezha can summon and use lotus petals as a means of fighting and utility. items he owns can morph into the petals and can be directed by him, able to pierce and explode on impact. he uses this to summon his items and to teleport long distances.

pyrokinesis - nezha can make and control flames. usually pink in color, nezha can also make them into multiple colors, and he’s even able to breathe them.

war form - nezha’s powers are kept under lock and key for the most part. when he fights all out however, he dons a stronger war form. typically larger in size, nezha’s war form has three heads and six arms.

inherent abilities:

super strength - as a result from being a heavenly deity

super speed - also as a result from being a heavenly deity

immortality - guys you won’t believe where he got this from

items / weapons:

wind-fire wheels - a pair of magical wheels used by nezha to traverse at the speed of wind. they are generally used for flight, and he accelerates himself further using jets of flame from them. nezha can adjust the size of the rings to power up things he attaches it to.

spear - a red spear tipped with a golden point. it is heavenly in nature, holding a great power to it. nezha’s capable of igniting it during fights.

armillary sash - a powerful magical sash that hangs around nezha’s shoulders. he can use this to elongate and ensnare others.

monowheel - a really cool mech that nezha can ride in like a motorcycle.

jonathan going from "he's wanted to go to nyu since he was six years old" to choosing the local college because he can't leave his mom and brother is so sad actually. he was forced into the role of co-parent and provider so early that he's pushed all his dreams and personal needs to the background.

like, his driving force into all this is so different from the other teens in the gang. they all were forced to get involved due to traumatic events and they all want to save and protect their friends obviously, but what drives them to continue meddling with the upside down is different. for nancy it's her innate curiosity- by now it's all driven by her journalistic instincts. steve basically keeps finding himself in this mess because a bunch of kids told him "get in loser we're going demon-hunting". robin is tagging along because she holds hers and steve's shared brain cell at all times. jonathan, though, only gets involved because his family keeps getting in danger.

steve is the certified mom friend, but jonathan is the one who actually has had to carry the parenting role outside the scooby doo meddling. it's telling that the only time since will's disappearance we've seen him kind of carefree is when they're away from the dangers of hawkins and when joyce has a job that can actually provide well enough for the family.

and i just hope that now that joyce got hopper back he can take this co-parenting weight off jonathan's shoulders and we get to see him figure out his dreams and needs and what he wants for his life and actually live like a young adult. he'll always feel the need to protect will and el and their mom obviously and they'll always be a top priority, but he needs to prioritise himself too at some point.
