i'm actually really happy with the new cultural center they opened in india. it sounds really cool and obviously opening night was amazing. i saw a video of some of the performances and its great that they're celebrating anywhere from classical dance and music to fashion, design, art, food. its truly really cool. even newer pop culture things from the north are being incorporated such as movies, etc. the ambani family putting their enormous amount of wealth to actual good use is great too.
i really HOPE the center is going to be some sort of outreach/portal for smaller creators especially. it could give them access to bigger brands, while celebrating different styles. i don't want shitty bollywood nepotism to be apart of this like please no. these actors are a part of modern culture but that doesn't mean they should distract us from different art styles present throughout. so in conclusion, its okay to invite celebs because thats how it gains publicity but the center should be open to smaller creators. i really hope it is.

Kangana Ranaut slams Twinkle Khanna after latter compares men to ‘plastic bags’; calls her as one of the ‘privileged brats’ and ‘nepo kids
Kangana Ranaut continues her crusade against nepotism and this time, the actress lashed out at former actress Twinkle Khanna, who is also Akshay Kumar’s wife.
Twinkle Khanna, who is the beloved daughter of the late superstar Rajesh Khanna and popular actress Dimple Kapadia, seems to be the next target of the nepotism crusade by Kangana Ranaut. The actress turned author recently was seen referring to men as ‘bags’ and comparing them to polythene and handbags, which did not go down well with Ranaut. The Manikarnika actress took to social media to lash out at Khanna and even went on to describe her as one of the privileged brats and nepo kids.
Tumblr media
Taking to her Instagram story, she shared a short version of the reel which featured Twinkle Khanna talking about feminism from a certain event. In the social media post, Kangana Ranaut questioned Khanna’s idea of feminism and lashed out at her for the comments she made about men, saying, “What are these privileged brats who call their men polythene bags, are they trying to be cool?? Nepo kids born with silver spoon, given film careers on golden platters, couldn't do justice to that for sure, least they could do find some joy and fulfilment in selfless of motherhood thaat also seems like a curse in their case what exactly do they want to be ?? Vegetables?? Is that feminism ??”
Tumblr media
On the other hand, talking about Twinkle Khanna, the actress turned author was seen tackling the concept of equality wherein she commented, “I think we do need men. It's almost like a handbag. We can carry things in a plastic bag but it's nice to have a kelly. It's pretty much that.”
Speaking of Twinkle Khanna, although the latter made her debut in the 90s alongside Bobby Deol and featured as the leading lady in over 20 films, she was quick to point out that she is not interested in films and quit acting after her marriage with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. She is currently popularly addressed as Mrs. Funnybones, and is a published author who not only writes books but also columns.

Nepotism - Is it right to criticize?
nepotism: the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs.
Isn't this everywhere? Don't we see every now and then someone or the other getting a job because they are related to someone. However, the two main industries that I have heard people having issues mostly with it is Bollywood (Film industry) and politics.
These are two places where we see people dropping in the main stage out of nowhere just because they belong to a particular family. For the other industries there is not much loud noises that I hear. Society has accepted that it is obvious that a next CEO of the company will be boss' son because ......ummm..he is boss' son.
However, the question that I want to answer is Is it right to criticize nepotism babies (The kids who get a head start because of their families) just because of their family connections?
The short answer is NO.
No one should be criticized because of where they come from irrespective if they are son/daughter of a homeless person or if they come from a kingdom. Is it unfair that few "lucky" people get these opportunities so easily when there are so many other talented people who are still waiting in line for their chance? Hell, yes! It is unfair. But can you avoid it from happening? No, you can't. Then what is the right response to this? Fortunately in both these industries (Bollywood and Politics) it is public, common people who decide what is good or bad. If you don't like someone don't watch their movie or don't vote for them. Yes, they do get a head start however, if they are not good at what they do they will be rejected by public.
In one of the interview where the debate was going on for nepotism someone said that solution for this is that son of a politician can do other things than politics. Son of film star can do other things than acting. However, I think that is unfair. I am a big believer of doing what you love. These kids have had the atmosphere of films/politics in their home since their childhood. They are very much exposed to it because of their parents. It is very likely that they will fall in love of this because of their exposure and telling someone that they can't do something that they love is unfair.
Moreover, not everyone is talent less if they have a family connection. Some people are actually very talented and if we restrict their access then it is unfair to the industry that they belong. They will loose a talent that can transform things because of our silly rules.
Ultimately, I feel nepotism is going to exist if you like it or not. Accept it but at the same time don't forget to raise your voice if you don't like their work, don't forget to take (in)action by not going to their movies or not voting for them so that mediocre people are churned out by the system and only the good ones remain. I am sure wherever nepotism exist there would be a way to cast your opinion in some way or the other.

Arshad Warsi explains the difference between a connected actor and one with no connections
Arshad Warsi, being an outsider in the Bollywood community has said that if you do not belong to the community, you have to do all the struggle again once you deliver a flop. Talking about the prevalence of nepotism and favoritism in Bollywood, the actor who is making a lot of popularity for his latest release Asur 2 talked at length about the privileges that only a handful of people in Bollywood have got. He says that such people are offered several films to ensure they bring out a hit but for others, if there is one flop, it means that they will have to do all the struggle all over again.
Arshad made his Bollywood debut in 1996 with the movie Tere Mere Sapne produced by Jaya Bachchan and directed by Joy Augustine. The actor, later in his career, made a lot of progress as he worked on movies like  Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Dhamaal, Golmaal, and Ishqiya.
Talking about nepotism in Bollywood, Arshad said that it is a long upward-hill journey for an actor if he delivers one flop. "It is a sad thing but what can you do? There is a certain segment of actors, who are a little more privileged than the other segment. Yes, I am talking about kids connected to the film industry. Then some people are not connected to the industry. I can’t complain, the film industry has given me a lot, and I love it and I thank them all the time. I, every morning, thank Joy Augustine, Jaya Bachchan, and Amitabh Bachchan, because of them I have got what I have got. So, nothing against the industry but this is the norm.”
Arshad also talked about how the ones with great connections in the industry are given a lot of chances. "I am not even complaining, I accept it. The sad part is I probably would do the same things with my kids. But yes, it is a difficult thing. You have a segment of actors who will get multiple chances to give a hit and then you have another segment who do not get that. You give one flop, you are doomed; you have to struggle all the way again to get back. So that is a sad part."

Abhishek Bachchan expresses his opinions on the nepotism controversy: "How many star kids have succeeded in comparison to those who have not come from a film background? The discussion starts and ends right there "
There was a time when very few people understood what the term "nepotism" meant. But after Kangana Ranaut mentioned it on "Koffee With Karan," it became a common phrase. Following the broadcast of the programme, host Karan Johar attacked the actress and she responded by attacking the director. The argument had died down, but Sushant Singh Rajput's passing sparked a new round of discussion. A number of famous kids were charged with stealing opportunities from deserving actors without any connections. In a recent, infrequent interview, Abhishek Bachchan discussed his thoughts on this issue.
Tumblr media
Abhishek Bachchan stated bluntly in a conversation with ETimes, "I'm not accusing anyone but the media has just found this one word which they can throw around. Let's not go by perception, go by the numbers, they never lie. It's as simple as that, perception doesn't matter, facts matter."
Abhishek added that when a debut is scheduled for a child of an actor, audiences become curious. Additionally, he added, "The sad part is that star kids know that they're being cast for that reason and not because they're wonderful actors who've trained themselves." It is simple for a star kid to land the first movie, but after that, the actor needs to focus on how he or she can advance and better themselves.
"How many of these star kids have succeeded in comparison to those who have not come from a film background? The numbers are there for you to see. The discussion starts and ends right there.," remarked Abhishek Bachchan.
Regarding comparisons to his father, the megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek responded that it's a sign that he's doing something right if he's being compared to the best actor in the world. He said, "I might not be entirely there but if you're speaking about me in the same ballpark as Amitabh Bachchan, I might be doing something right. I looked upon it more as an appreciation"
Abhishek Bachchan will also mark 23 years in the business. On June 30, 2000, his debut movie, Refugee (2000), was made available to watch in theatres. It was also Kareena Kapoor Khan's debut .

In 20 years when Ranbir-Alia and Saif-Kareena's children make their (nepo) debut, we'll be the generation that will annoyingly tell our children how Raha/Taimur's parents ruled the industry at one point and were the real deal, just like our parents did when Ranbir and Kareena debuted.

Pankaj Tripathi shares his views on nepotism; says, “Duniya ke har field mein hoti hai”
Tripathi, known for his performances and portrayals on-screen, addressed the issue by stating, “Duniya ke har field mein hoti hai baaki har field ke logon ka interview nahin hota hai isliye mudda nahin banta hai aur again talent talent hota hai, ye bhi zaroori hai koi parivar ka bachcha ho talented bhi ho sakta hai, toh talent se cheez ko maapein (It is prevalent in every field. The issue is not created as people from other fields are not interviewed. A talented kid can also belong to a privileged background, so one should always be judged based on their talent).”
On the film front, Pankaj Tripathi was recently seen in Main Atal Hoon. The film is scripted by Rishi Virmani and Ravi Jadhav and boasts production support from Bhanushali Studios Limited and Legend Studios, led by Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan, and Kamlesh Bhanushali. The film is the biopic of India’s celebrated Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It released on January 19, 2024.
