just finished Planet Of Fire part 2 and although I'm not as hopelessly sad at being close running out of turlough and 5 episodes as I was with 2, jamie and zoe it's started to hit me how I actually adore these characters and don't want to say goodbye to them. I'm not ready.

I mean, I saw Resurrection Of The Daleks earlier this afternoon and now I'm just spending the whole time watching peri in this serial going "pathetic. hopeless. tegan would never. #notmycompanion" because tegan is absolutely iconic and she's been there since goddamn Logopolis in season 18 and it's just plain weird not having her around anymore. Sorry peri but you haven't immediately caught my attention like tegan did

agghhh classic who really hitting you with the anticipation of having to say goodbye because you know what's coming next. With nuwho you don't know what's coming which is good for some other reasons but omfg the anticipation of knowing exactly when and how a companion departs from fandom osmosis and just watching you edge closer and closer and love the character more and more omfg it's PAIN and I'd never have it any other way.

Like when I was watching season 19 and the amazing shit like adric spend the whole dance just getting food in Black Orchid. And I was just like "omg just like me fr iconic i love it". And then it hit me that he's going to be blown up in a few episodes. He's going to fucking die.

Sarah ignored him, squaring her shoulders as the rocks arranged themselves again. They didn't reach as high this time, but seemed like they would be a little bit more stable.

"Verily, my lady, art thou certain about proceeding with this endeavor? Ambrosius and I--"

"Ow!" So much for stability. She banged her knee as the stone that she'd stood on rolled backwards.

"Sorry," came the low, defeated roar.

"Oh, it's alright, Ludo. There's got to be another way to do this."

"Or you could just give up. And maybe let His Royal Highness win this one?"

"There is no honor in conceding defeat! Why I--"

Sarah tuned them out. She had known, before she'd even opened her mouth, that making a bet with the Goblin King would be a terrible idea. But she was tired of the goblins trampling her makeup and eating all her little brother's crayons. And if competing in the goblins' Chicken Olympics was what got them to stop, well, she had been willing to try it.

She just hadn't counted on needing to be able to fly. Or pretty much any of the rest of it.

This whole thing really wasn't fair. She should have known.

It's just a moment between the explosion and the impact with the ground when Mav can see them all. All the little thread that links him to every other him, and then fragments of short blond hair against his chest, warm lips kissing him, baby goose calling him dad and calling Ice Papa, another kid between his arms, a wedding, their first meeting—so many of their first meetings: in the Navy, as civilians, and even as professors—and the constant of them having a life together. Ice's voice, so rich and warm that Mav could cry because he almost doesn't remember anymore the last time Ice talked out loud, calling his name, running towards him, passing him the salt over the dinner table, and kissing him goodbye. And Mav finds himself begging for another minute, another life, a chance to go back and do it all over, to not let Ice's hand go all those years ago, to stay with him, and to trust him. To not let six years pass in a glimps without a word because it was simpler that way. He hits the ground. Every single reality he saw stays with him all the way back in Caine's office, a ticket in his hand and a very disapproving permission to leave.

He knows the moment Sarah looks at him, her eyes soft and sad as the day Bradley walked out of his house and Mav tried to run back to them. It's not the same house, they aren't married anymore, but Sarah's look is the same. For a split second, while Mav is walking towards Ice's office, the photos on the walls change to something he feels oh so familiar with. He's in every single one of them, and he's kissing Ice, laughing with him, holding his hand, and marring him with Slider and Goose at their left and right. Then he blinks, and he's just looking at some photos on that wall, among many others. Ice is sitting on the same chair, and the studios are the same as they were the last time he was there, and yet he can see how every little detail is different now. They're hugging because he knows Ice wants to talk business, but Mav can't, not yet. All he can see is himself coming in from that same door; he's giving his back too and kissing his husband's forehead, and Ice's lips are so close to his that he could just turn his face and lose himself in this man again. But Ice always read him like an open book, "Don't be cruel, Mav. "Not now.", he whispers, hiding his face from him. Mav can only nod, almost going to his tips to try and save Ice from moving too much. He doesn't know how much time they spend like that, hugging and trying not to cry, but when Ice is too tired to stand, Mav helps him to his chair and waits to find the courage to let him go. When he walks out of that same door he came in through not even two hours earlier, he finds himself incapable of not looking back, trying to steal another minute with Ice. What he sees is every one of their lives dancing behind his Ice, happy, alive, together. But he isn't one of those things. Ice, his Ice, smiles at him, and Mav's heart breaks again while he gently shuts the door.

(Ice dies two days before the mission, and Mav knows he's gone because the younger Ice snaps his teeth to a younger him, and the sound of their laugh is the last thing he hears before they dissolve into nothing.)

Rating the Kommissar Rex/Il Commissario Rex/Hudson and Rex human partners for funsies, in chronological order. Contains spoilers, some bias, and opinions based on superficial characteristics. I will take the blame for any distorted memories I have of the shows, although I did a full rewatch last summer. (Rewatch refers to Kommissar Rex and Hudson and Rex. I could only watch Il Commissario Rex once. Well, 0.75 times. I couldn’t find some of the episodes.)

Kommissar Rex

Richard Moser: The blueprint. Not necessarily the best one in my opinion (although if you ask kid me, yes), but they modeled at least two other characters after him in the reboots. Pretty nice (although a product of his time), street smart, recently divorced, and the first few episodes where he and Rex are getting used to living together are hilarious. Moser’s dry humor was good too, also his whump scenes where great. And I appreciated the nude scenes a lot (thanks, German tv of the 90s). 8/10

Alex Brandtner: The hot one. Also, more of a “new age” cop (new age here means post 90s, don’t get confused). Kid me didn’t appreciate the hotness but I watched it in my teen years, and oh boy. And the action scenes, while sometimes ridiculous and making you wonder why???, really showed the actor’s training in physical scenes too. I always liked the way Brandtner immediately bonded with Rex and then we learn of the tragedy with his own dog. Too bad his love life was even more non-existent than Moser’s. 9/10

Marc Hoffmann: I’ll be honest, I just didn’t care for him for the most part, but I did like the fact that for the first time there was a ship with him and Nikki. They went for a different style with this one and it shows. Marc is less type A than the previous two, not a bad thing, but by that point, it was clear that Kommissar Rex as a show was nearing its end and I think it sometimes showed. 7/10

Il Commissario Rex (At this point, let me just say that I don’t associate the two shows with each other. And whoever has watched both, would probably agree with me. It hardly matters that the Italian show starts as a spinoff.)

Lorenzo Fabbri: Ugh, I don’t know what it is with this guy but I didn’t like him much. His style was a lot like Moser at first (adopting Rex, saving him from a miserable fate, learning to live with him, etc.). I absolutely hated the storyline with the forensics scientist throwing herself at him every chance she got and him trying to avoid her instead of flat out telling her he’s not interested, and then at some point they slept together??? Anyway, did not like. 6/10

Davide Rivera: I liked that guy but sadly we didn’t have that many episodes with him. He could have had more to offer as a character. More quiet than the sometimes too loud Lorenzo, and took some time to warm up to Rex if I recall. I liked that he took no flack from his boss (Sidenote: the boss didn’t like Rex at first and kept wanting to get rid of him, and I wanted to rip him to shreds). 7/10

Marco Terzani: I literally found one season of his episodes, so I’ll reserve judgment (if anyone has his second and third season, please give it to me lol or point to the right direction). He seems kinda reckless? He’s definitely attractive. ?/10, more research needed.

Hudson and Rex

Charlie Hudson: Started off as kind of mediocre for me, then he made me change my mind. When I started watching, I was hellbent on comparing every single thing of this show to the characters of the original at first, so I’m partially to blame for my initial perception of him. However, I won’t blame myself for the bad writing, pacing, and overall mediocrity of S1 that contributed to a big part of it. Anyway, they used some of Moser’s backstory (divorced, adopts Rex after his K-9 partner tragically dies) and expanded on it. Charlie has had the most development as a character than any of the others, which makes sense since he’s the first of Rex’s partners to live that long or not get rebooted lol. He definitely gets bonus points for having a love life too. And for not dying, despite all the whump situations he gets himself into. Definitely falls under the reckless category too. 70% himbo, 100% whump magnet. 9/10

(No spoilers please) Thoughts & Theories as of right now (starting Chapter 24):

— Okay this is just me thinking out loud (or I guess typing lol) but I have a new theory with 0 proof but I like guessing sometimes —

Aedion Ashryver was just introduced. We’ve (gonna use plurals lol) been wondering who is giving the king all this “info” on rebels (as it isn’t Chaol THE CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD) and someone is “advising” / giving him names for Celaena to “dispatch”. … The book has been dropping hints, telling us to look for that character (as Celaena does). And suddenly after those hints, along with another Aelin mention, a new character is thrown into the mix; a character that somehow survived the fall of Terrasen; begging the question of how. They could very easily be a traitor (hence the survival) & rebel destruction, OR an inside man for the rebels all along.🤔

NOW (without spoilers cause I’m trying not to ruin this for myself) I don’t know who Aelin is. Not officially, all I know is I’m pretty sure it’s Celaena… cause I unfortunately had this series HEAVILY in my feed prior to reading & pretty much every fan art that looks like Celaena is named Aelin… so I’m going to guess it’s her (whether she knows it or not)… though I’m trying not to think of it cause I’m guessing it’s a big plot. … With that said I mention it as it’s another reason why I think if Aedion was THAT character it would move that plot along too… possibly in helping her claim her new name… or adding some danger if he was bad & knew Aelin was alive (if she is Aelin to begin with). P.S. don’t confirm this, but if I’m right then the entire Dorian having met Aelin as a wild child & the whole “if Aelin had survived she might’ve been my bride” line becomes a thousand times more hilarious & heartbreaking.😅😅

P.S. P.S. why is there no ship content for Chaol and Celaena???
