It was strange, in a nice nostalgic way, to be getting ready at that exact moment for something as important as his wedding.

Nice because he was about to link his destiny with the love of his life and nostalgic because Kiku had been feeling this urge to replay in his head every single one of the moments that had led them to this point. Hundreds of situations throughout the hundreds of years they had both lived, all concentrated in an instant. It was overwhelming to say the less, but beautiful. After all, to be able to love someone like this was a privilege.

A wedding is the culmination of a stage, it is to say "yes I do" and accept everything that comes with it both good and bad and to feel accepted, it is also to forget the past and focus on the future. A bright future in the company of the only person with whom and for whom it would be worth living it.

A wedding is giving your life away with open arms and receiving one loving heart in return; or at least that was what the japanese thought about this topics.

Getting married was not something nations did very often. Whether it was due to internal or external conflicts, disinterest in human traditions, lack of good candidates or simply because it was not required; his kind didn't think much about situations like that and it was fine. However, it was also not frowned upon to do so and he was glad that many of his peers accepted to come and celebrate such an important ceremony with them. He was glad because Arthur was also glad.

It was important to him and of course it was nice that they could have peace even if it was for a day.

The whole planet was there.

Family.

Friends.

Old souls like the both of them.

But on that day only two people were needed. People, since "marriage-like unions" between countries were called alliances and were nothing more than a mere procedure based on a foundation as fragile as human existence. At that moment he was talking and thinking about himself as part of that humanity because it was not Japan allying with The United Kingdom like one hundred and twenty-two years ago, no, that day Kiku Honda was marrying Arthur Kirkland by mutual agreement and more importantly: by love.

There were no territorial benefits or promises of wealth or contracts involved, no, in that sunny day there were only two beings wanting to unite their personal history without expecting anything in return. They were there together for love, for company and because their hearts felt like it.

And that was enough.

And that was the only thing he needed.

And it was perfect.

Most of the time Kiku did not care about the image of his nation in the eyes of the world, he did not care about foreign opinion and it was no secret that he would not think twice about isolating his beloved island from everyone again; he was fine alone, but all that changed when it was about Arthur and Kiku was incredibly happy that the blonde continued to choose him day after day to the point of proposing marriage.

To him, not to Japan.

Him, among the many options they both had.

Him, despite his personality, temper and unwavering pride.

It was nice to be so open about something for once, and he was happy it was about love.

A couple of knocks on the door of the small room he had been assigned took him out of his daydreams bringing him back to a reality that promised to be just as bright as his deepest dreams.

"Honey, would you help me with my tie?" the blonde asked, shyly, sticking his head out from the door.

"Sure, come in, allow me"

And so he did, walking directly up to meet him and steal a kiss from his lips.

"Aren't you supposed to not kiss me until we're officially married?" the black-haired man asked with an amused tone.

"I'm not supposed to see you before the ceremony either, bad luck and all of that, but I honestly can't wait. I knew you would look beautiful and I had to see it with my own eyes"

And that desire was mutual.

Attending to the british's request, he took both ends of the piece of soft and fine fabric around his neck tying it with a skill learned over the years. Now that he remembered it, it had been the man in front of him who had help him to perfect his skills with ties, suits, and western ways of dressing.

It had been so many years since that, a mere sigh in the long existence to which they were destined.

"Are you nervous, Arthur?"

"No, not really. It's just that my hands refuse to cooperate since this morning, goodness gracious maybe I'm a little nervous."

"Me too, so it's okay."

"We will be fine, sweetheart. There is nothing to worry about"

And Kiku had always felt like he could believe in his everything. If it was Arthur (as he always had been) then everything was all right.

"Yes, we will"

1. Okay yall are going to kill me. I never watched pokemon and I played like 2% of platinum growing up. I also never watched Digimon. SO! I'm going to do what I do best and assign them a BIRD ! ! !

I was kind of torn on Yugi, I really want him to be a belted kingfisher because they're one of my childhood favorites (and to me? Fit his energy?) They don't really stand out with any extraordinary behaviors though, so I'm also placing him with a parrotlet.

Parrotlets are the smallest parrot species and they're mischievous little birds that are SO sweet and extremely smart, they fit him very well. I hope to own one some day ^_^

-> Jou was SUCH an easy choice for me, what immediately came to mind was some kind of corvidae family member. I think he could be a jackdaw, but Scrub Jay's are soo him to me <3 They're pretty smart, playful, have big barks and are very under-appreciated birds! Just like our Jou.

3. Favorite Canon Looks?

-> This question haunts me because I love pretty much all of Yugi's outfits, including the stupid capsule monster filler arc armor suits 😭 Yugi was one of my biggest fashion idols growing up as a queer emo kid. I'd have to say his classic DK/S0 outfit is truly my favorite if I had to pick one. The symbolism of his thick leather vest that connects to his choker underneath his normal school uniform has always been eye catching for me. I also much preferred the rope on the puzzle compared to his silver chains. Very nostalgic look for me. (CLOSE TIE WITH HIS ANZU DATE OUTFIT <3)

-> Joey baby.. okay so I'm kind of lame, I LOVE. His battle city fit, I think it's so him. The sneakers, the baggy T-shirt, I also think the colors of this palette suit him well. I also like his wtd arc outfit, which is kind of similar vibes.

4. What movie(s) do you think they would not be able to stand?

This is so difficult.. I'm going to say Jounouchi isn't much of a fan when it comes to musicals or psychological thrillers. He seems like the warrior of the week film guy. He might groan about them in front of Honda but he will watch any chick flick with Shizuka. Hes surprisingly thoughtful about them too!

Yugi .... oh man, I don't know. He seems like he'd be a really big film nerd but at the same time he's not? He enjoys movies that have all sorts of twists and turns and also ones that are bold and not very subtle (FANTASY FAN). I think he'd have problems with very Film Bro movies? He doesn't understand the appeal of them and almost always finds plot holes within them that can never be explained.

5. What is a gentle memory they might have?

-> I personally think Yugi has SO many sweet memories of himself and his grandpa when he was growing up. He is such a grandpa's boy.. he remembers so many times that Grandpa was tucking him into bed at night and telling him stories of magic and fantastical creatures and adventures in his younger days.

-> And we know Jou has SO many memories of him and his sister as a kid. I doubt all of them were entirely gentle and more bittersweet leaning. Coming from a big brother like myself, I could see Jounouchi distracting her from their parents fighting by coloring with her or playing outside. But after they get reunited as teenagers, I bet they have all sorts of fun new memories together like finding the BEST spot to get pizza or biking to the beach every now and then together 🥹💓

“You are my community, you are my people,” pop star Gwen Stefani told the sold-out and cheering crowd at Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday night, Sept. 9. “I am so grateful for every single person who listened to my music all these years.”

Stefani — who was born and raised in a home just a few miles from the arena where her band No Doubt formed — received a mighty welcome from the hometown crowd. It was a family affair, too, as her mother and father, Dennis and Patti Stefani, and her younger brother, Todd Stefani, and sister-in-law, Jennifer, were also in attendance and spotted singing along.

Before the show, fans were seen dressed in various signature Stefani style and posing in front of themed photo ops located throughout the arena. While most embraced the No Doubt “Tragic Kingdom” more rockabilly look, others went for Stefani’s “Return of Saturn” cotton candy pink hair era; and there were plenty sporting her more glam L.A.M.B. fashion made popular in her “The Sweet Escape” and “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” solo album days.

Tapped to help the venue celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, Stefani has now played at Honda Center (formerly The Arrowhead Pond) 10 times, tying her with British singer and pianist Elton John and Mexican singer-songwriter and musician Marco Antonio Solís for the artists who have performed on that stage the most.

With it being a hometown show, she did bust out a few things that were special. Since she’s gone solo and No Doubt has been on hiatus since 2015, Stefani has long peppered in No Doubt’s ska and reggae-infused hits with her more pop-focused solo material. And while she’s added some fun covers into the setlist through the years (like “The Tide is High” by The Paragons) and often brings out husband and country star Blake Shelton to duet on a few tunes (the more country-leaning “Nobody But You” “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” and “Happy Anywhere”), there were popular No Doubt songs absent from the performances that fans begged for on social media.

She must have been feeling a bit nostalgic on Saturday night as she busted out a stripped down version of No Doubt’s 1995 single “Excuse Me Mr.,” which she prefaced by saying she hadn’t played it in so long because she had “gotten over it.” She also played the 2000 hit, “Simple Kind of Life,” noting that it was “the first song I wrote on my own on guitar.”

Anime with a Favourite Opening/Ending Song:

While this was a touch choice, and almost went to Attack on Titan, I picked Jujutsu Kaisen because it's one of the rare anime when I love all the openings. If I had to pick a favourite opening it's a tie between VIVID VICE and Specialz.

Anime you recommend others watch:

Without a shadow of a doubt I recommend Anohana to everyone. It's a coming of age story centred around a difficult topic, yet there are light moments. However, it's an anime that always makes me cry, so be prepared to not just watch a coming of age story but also an emotional character dive.

Anime that shares a genre with the centre anime:

It would have been easy to pick another adventure/fantasy/sci-fi anime and call it a day, but I think I did well picking Sabikui Bisco. The anime is set in a post apocalyptic wasteland. There is awe and wonder outside of the city but also danger. Government cannot be trusted and medicine/scientific advancement is a key element to the story, which are all elements that FMA has.

Anime that shares Eng. VA with touching square:

Laura Bailey who voices Lust in FMA also voices Tohru Honda in Fruits Basket! Actually, Fruits Basket and FMA have many English VA overlaps, but Laura is the one I first thought of!

Favourite Anime of All Time:

Fullmetal Alchemist is my favourite manga of all time, so I had to go with the 2009 remake. While the 2003 anime still holds a nostalgic place in my heart, nothing compares to the manga's story to me.

From the plot, pacing, character arcs and design, and art direction I truly believe Fullmetal Alchemist is a near perfectly written and produced series from Hiromu Arakawa.

Anime that shares Japanese VA with touching square:

Paku Romi who voices Edward Elric in the Japanese version of FMA also voices Hitsugaya Toshiro in Bleach.

Shares a Similar MC Energy with centre square:

The obvious comparison is Senku and Edward are both genius scientists who did the impossible (Senku with his counting and Edward with human transmutation), however there are other traits the two share. Both have a bit of a mischievous side and both can be singularly focused on their scientific goals. Finally, both are hopeful in the face of peril and use their wits and scientific knowledge to win in the end.

Also, as an extra fun fact the English VA for Senku is Aaron Dismuke who voiced Alfonse Elric in the original 2003 FMA anime.

An Anime you read/have the manga of:

I've been reading My Hero Academia (or BNHA) for years. While I don't own it, I read it on the Shonen Jump app. It's a series I'm also enjoying the anime adaptation.

A series with your favourite ship/ship dynamic:

Soukoku (or Dazai/Chuuya from Bungou Stray Dogs) is both my favourite ship in the series and also my favourite ship dynamic.

My favourite part about Soukoku as a ship is the underlying loyalty and trust the two have in one another. Despite everything: their personality clash, their first meeting, Dazai betraying the Port Mafia, they still care for one another. In their own weird ways, yes, but care none the less. How else can the series explain the convoluted schemes in both Dead Apple and in Season 5? That's some "we're two halves of the same whole" level of trust there. They're not even being subtle.

Over the news of And A Movie, i found myself waxing nostalgic and even contemplating rewatching Community, but there is nothing like revisiting an old Twitter hate thread I made that doused me sober. (I bite Annie's head off a little in a case of internalized misogyny but hopefully it's clear that Dan Harmon is the real evil)

My 2020 hate speech:

WHY I HATE COMMUNITY: A THREAD

In the last month, I started bingeing Community and loved it. It was fresh. Meta. Made recently and so hopefully it was progressive as FRIENDS was 2020-offensive. Also I had already finished B99 and The Good Place and it was the next best thing.

In episode 1 they established Britta as the cool girl: she wouldn't date the hot guy because she's not shallow and let's face it, Jeff doesnt get the redemption arc that Jake did in B99. He didn't get over his assholeness like Jake did. Season 6 ended and Jeff was still shit.

Anyway, Britta is my favorite character. Season 1 saw her protesting causes, being a hypocrite over most of it, but totally relatable because who isn't a hypocrite right? At least she CARES. She empathizes with people. She later shifts to psychology wanting to help people. She often psychoanalyzes her friends which they hate, but she is often dead-on. Jeff and Pierce's dad issue? She called it. Abed's inability to move on after Troy left? She helped him with it. Troy's paralysis over breaking up with her? She helped him come to terms with it.

And yet, over the seasons she has been written as the "worst" character, often regarded as a meme rather than a real person. She's the only one who doesnt get to redeem herself over the seasons. (Jeff didnt redeem himself in my eyes but most would think he didnt need saving). Even Pierce redeemed himself by dying of dehydration after giving his seed away--can be construed as a selfless act. Britta never stands up from it. She is constantly put down by the group, with Annie constantly kneeling down her neck. They make jokes about her, uses her name as a synonym for "wreck" or "make worse". She exists mainly as two things: an antagonist in the Jeff-Annie relationship and a subject for every anti-woke sketch Dan Harmon wants to incorporate in the script.

Britta helped people. Britta cared. She did not compete with others, not even Annie even though Annie never stopped being insecure about Britta. She was best friends with Shirley. And yes, she made stupid decisions--Subway Rick and Honda Rick, Jeff, and Vaughn. But she genuinely cared. Unlike the rest of the group who were manipulative and found ways for the rest to cater to their whims, Britta usually didnt force anyone to do anything for her. Yes, she was vocal about her causes, but they always shot her down and except for the Guatemala bit in S1 I don't remember they ever supported her. Meanwhile, they went through claymation in Abed's breakdown, that whole s4 ending where Jeff had his own, Shirley even got her to man her shop, and Annie, well, I could think of a lot of times where she coerced the group into something. Such a poorly written character with so much potential.

And then Annie. She starts out grating my nerves. She's childish, manipulative, she literally stomps her feet and cries out like a toddler when something doesnt go her way. Dressing her up in slacks didnt make her mature. Over the seasons I went from being slightly annoyed to hating her but by the middle of season6, I just pity this character. Clearly, Dan Harmon fucked her up the way he did Britta. The writers probably didn't know how to write a multidimensional woman. Britta was reduced to a stupid, impressionable woke millennial, and Annie was just the slutty child. She was so oversexualized it didn't matter to me that Jeff stayed away--he clearly wanted to get into Annie's panties anyway. And she liked being viewed as a sex object. In the episode where they film a sci-fi movie for Chang, she shows up in a tight one piece that shows her breasts and Jeff clearly gets mesmerized. Britta calls her out "thats what you chose?" And then when Annie reaches INSIDE HER CLEAVAGE for an improvised laser bomb that Abed didnt write, Britta says "youre making it more difficult for every woman out there". Because it's true. Her loving being reduced to a sex object means it's okay for everyone else to be oversexualized. Annie retorts that she's just improvising, to which Britta says "IMPROVISE POCKETS!" She never made more sense than that moment.

I also hate how self-serving Annie is; remember the bottle episode? How about the one where Chang is cast as Mr. Miyagi? Or the party in the apartment episode. Or the one where they tie Prof Cornwallis up. Or the attack ad episode. Ugh. I hate her so much, but she is still the most well-loved character because SHE HAS BOOBS and she's hot. Innocent and sexy. The fact that so many people like her means there are so many misogynists, so many Dan Harmons in the world. And Britta? No one likes her. She says uncomfortable things. She doesnt dress like she's gonna blurt out "spank me daddy" any second now.

These are two women victimized by a series creator who probably didnt have much luck with women. Dan Harmon consistently shat on his women characters because he didnt understand them outside of his own relationships. Here is a guy who got married probably as a publicity stunt. He divorced her a year later and is now involved with a woman 12 years her junior. 12 years. Now you know why he kept pushing that creepy Jeff-Annie angle. And he's racist and ageist, you already knew that. Chevy Chase left famously because of it. And while Yvette Nicole and Donald didn't say it was the reason, throughout the season Dan poked fun at their race "did you ever 9/11 anyone?", Pierce once asked Abed. It's cringey. The whole thing is.

Some ppl so badly want to relate to rich ppl. To believe they’re just like them or the rest of us. Somebody commented on article about high car payments that ceos don’t walk. Some dude then commented Jeff Bezos owns an old Honda Accord. Yeah and he also owns several cars worth over a million. He just has an old car he’s nostalgic about like every other older man I have ever met in my life. He probably doesn’t drive it anywhere since it’s over 20 years old. Another dude commented that wealthy ppl walk to work in NYC… like buddy I just read an article a month ago about them having personal drivers for their kids in NYC they probably have personal drivers for themselves. You will not catch these fuckers on mass public transit. The need to be able to believe they too can go from rags to wealthy is so blinding in some. They’ll believe anything that attempts to make wealthy ppl relatable to the middle class and low income.
