//vent I really need to get this off my chest. After Splatoon 3's final splatfest comes to a close, I'm probably going to stop interacting with the Splatoon community as much as I can. It's been four years since I've gotten truly into Splatoon, (that's a complicated, yet much nicer story for some other time) and while I don't regret it by any means, it's definitely been an exhausting ride, and I kinda want to get off of it before I barf.
Getting the most obvious thing out of the way, the way Nintendo has been handling Splatoon 3 has been really disappointing. It has far more improvements than flaws, but this game has had some really bizarre decisions made with it compared to the first two games. Maps, kits, ETC... I'm not gonna delve into the specifics, you probably already know what I'm going on about. Secondly, while what I just said still holds true, I feel like the community reactions to these changes have been... a bit too much? Like, yeah, splatfests are imbalanced. Maps have been bad. (up until Drizzle Season 2023, at least) But these problems have been absolutely blown out of the water. Fucking, death threats have been sent to people who join the Shiver's teams. Despite the whole appeal of the Splatoon community being a place of self expression and lack of judgement, a lot of Splatoon subcultures really... aren't that great. Being deadass, competitive Splatoon is boring, and its players are super rude and annoying. I don't like to generalize, but I've yet to interact with a single comp player I enjoy talking to. Every single one I've met has tried forcing me to play a certain way, no matter if I'm even fucking playing with them. I was harassed for using sticks. In a B- lobby. Back when I was new to Splatoon 2. The hacking scene is a dumpster fire. The main person who's created the most well known and fun Splatoon hacking system is a piece of shit, for one. For two, have you even touched the first game anytime after 2017? Yeah, it's full of hackers. Can't play turf war for 15 minutes without having to sit there and not play the game because someone is hacking and getting away with it because Nintendo doesn't moderate the servers anymore. The Coroika fandom is if you took Splatoon fandom and infected it with My Hero Academia fans. Yeah. Are any of you familiar with Splatoon Florida? It was an old parody account on Twitter that I used to own that got popular SUPER fast. Could not handle it. It spawned nearly 50 clone accounts based on the other 49 united states, and I had even gotten impersonation accounts pretending to be me and saying really, really awful things. This paired with the queerphobia I faced and hatemail in general stacked on top of my mother having multiple strokes and almost dying at the time, pushed me over the edge, and I deleted SplatoonFL after someone told me that they hoped my mother had another stroke and died. Now, I feel like shit for name dropping people in my vent, as it's been awhile since most of this garbage has happened and I don't want to seem petty, plus this isn't intended to be a callout post. But I really do feel the need to let this shit out of my system, and frankly I'm tired of watching these people be appreciated while remembering what they've done to me, small and insignificant or not.
Theecorner, AKA Danniee, banned me from their Discord server after I loudly expressed distaste for jokes being made about Dream, as I was one of Dream's victims and felt very uncomfortable bringing him up. Keep in mind that insinuated that I did not enjoy the conversation multiple times.
Pufuu had made a Twitter post with a screenshot of our DMs. I was irritated that he had kept making fake Splatoon leaks with zero indication of them being concepts, and he thought that was wrong. A couple Tweets before this, ironically, he boasted about getting another annoying fake leaker to block him.
Caitlin Koi had acted aggressive towards me after I expressed concern for her after a seizure which, her seizures are very much real and very dangerous, though I should mention she also uses them as an excuse to be an asshole and guilt trip people.
Vaqeii. Fuck you. (He has very few actual fans, I just wanted to express my hatred towards that fucking slime since he's also one of the Splatubers who had traumatized me.)
I'd like to restate that I don't regret my time in the community one bit. I love it here for the most part. It's just gotten far too much, and I'm. Frankly a little bit done and ready to move on. I'll try to keep strong and stay for a bit so I can enjoy the rest of Splatoon 3's update cycle with my friends and the people I enjoy being around. After that though, unless something happens to change my mind, I'll be gone after that.
Knowing the current state of the Splatoon community, I wouldn't be surprised if I started getting harassed again for this post. Hell, wouldn't it be hilarious if THIS vent post got screenshotted and edited to be about Roller Coaster Tycoon, to? Yeah, that was a thing that happened. No, I haven't forgotten about that. You know who you are. Real fucking proud of you, I am.

I dont thinkt there is any game that does cultural differences like splatoon does it. I am thinkgin abt the salmonids again I'm thinking about the Cohozuna fight theme can i talk abt the Cohozuna theme I am dying tk talk about the Cohozuna theme
Ohh my god the way it sounds so distorted like a fight for control between the members of ω-3
It sounds hectic and chaotic and awful but that's what makes it GOOD because for brief moments you can hear a slight harmony tying everything together (THANK YOU The First Child of Algin, Hidden Blade of Yakiharas) only for everything to collapse again I LOVE how it reflects the personalities of the Salmonids in ω-3
It's such a Good Song. It characterizes them more than any splatcast characterizes Deep Cut I am so sorry but it's true ω-3 is so much more interesting than any other splatband their music gets their personalities across on its own if you just showed me them and the Cohozuna theme I would easily be able to pinpoint their personalities and who plays what based on what the music Feels like
I love Deep Cut. I do. But their music doesn't get their personalities across because it's just. Idol music. Based on their tunes you would never be able to guess Shiver is an unhinged freak (affectionate) but just by hearing the timpany in the Cohozuna fight. Green Flame Born From Trout Hell Canyon is so easy to understand. You can tell he is the serious one, imposing, harsh, doesn't care what happens so long as he gets the music across to drive the other salmonids into a frenzied killing march
The Loyal Servant of the True Salmon King Hizunamasu. By how fucky and unhinged his remixing is you can tell he's the brat of the trio that does whatever he wants, no regards for his elders, just to shine his own work across, constantly interrupting The First Child of Algin, Hidden Blade of Yakiharas. ESPECIALLY interrupting TFCOATHBOY like a "fuck you, old man!" Type of thing.
And of COURSE. The First Child of Algin, Hidden Blade of Yakiharas. This man is the glue of the team. He's what keeps them from collapsing no matter how much insanity the other two decide to throw at him. He's the older one, his cello feels so much more. Composed. Harmonized, less aggressive but still setting down a heavy sense of authority, what truly makes the music a march for their lands, the eye of the hurricane if you will, the peace that makes you realize how Fucked you are
It's so good. They're so good. No one does it like them no one could ever do it like them

We are so back. Well, I somewhat am. Welcome to Episode 11 of (Waku) Puyo Extras.
Tumblr media
(What a lovely image of Rulue and Minotauros as a team. Surely nothing bad will bestow him...seriously, this image is amazing.)
Hey everyone, Gren here, back from my break. It was a nice break, and I was able to focus on schoolwork. We don't talk about my Pre-Calc grade (just know I got a C) but I got an A in every other class. This episode is a little late because I was focused on the Splatoon 3 Splatfest (I was Team Handshake, GGS to all,) but it's here nevertheless.
As the year is slowly coming to an end, my workload increases. I think this'll be the last Extras episode until the NEW Episode of Waku Puyo Translations. Which means me dying to Kikimora text. Fun, yeah? Yeah.
So, with my absence, what game will we cover this time around? Well it's one I've mentioned a couple of times, which is...actually kind of nice, no researching history for me; Rulue's Spring Break of Fists...or Rulue's Iron-Fist Spring Break. For today, I'll use the first version.
This game is thankfully one of the easier ones to get footage of. Besides, the game itself is fairly interesting with its current casting, with people that you don't really see every day. And hey, this is the first time we've properly covered Rulue here, so there's a first for everything.
With this, I really hope you enjoy this and my derusting of my skills.
Oh, and random thing. My account turned 2 recently, though I began posting...in April of this year? Wahoo.
What's the Origins for the Game itself?
Similar to many games I've covered here (if only I had a good computer, I would probably make a funny YouTube series,) Rulue's Spring Break of Fists is a Disc System game released on Volume 14 of Disc Station Magazines in 1997.
Tumblr media
(The opening to the game. Nothing amazing, but certainly an...opening?)
The game itself is somewhat of a Choose Your Own Adventure game, with you playing as the lady herself, Rulue. Here, you get to...choose your own adventure. There's three main things you can do:
Find the five divine treasures.
Explore the land. Or "The Wonderful Land".
Gather ingredients to cook.
It's interesting how the character most associated with fighting has a game where... you kinda don't fight unless it's a very specific circumstance, which I'll get into later.
Visually, I won't deny, it depends from person to person. If you like the 90s Moe eyes, then this artstyle is genuinely amazing, but if not, lotta characters look weird.
Tumblr media
(This is a prime example, with Kikimora. Her eyes are huge, and personally I like them, but I can totally see why someone doesn't.)
So for this episode, I'll throw a question/poll:
This'll last a week, and I'm curious to see.
-----
How About Gameplay?
Something I want to note for this game is that in this... there's a LOT of different dialog choices. You're gonna have split paths all the time, though to my knowledge, they more just impede you until you guess right...or get a bad ending.
Tumblr media
(Something like this. Also, rare Black Kikimora appearance, though...with an item Rulue gets, she transforms back into Kiki? It's odd.)
Whilst exploring and doing the routes, something you'll note is that there's a lot of quizzes, questionnaires, etc. Now why does this matter?
Because some of these questions are fucking hilarious man
What do I mean? Well, y'all know Momomo? Silly little shopkeeper? Well, they ask you a question for a quiz, and guess what the question is?
How much Yen will it cost to buy Disc Station Magazine Vol. 1 through 13 on their online store?
Tumblr media
(This is Rulue trying to solve that question. Lowkey...I forgot the answer.)
This guy really thinks I know. And I think inflation has really made these prices seem cheap in the long run...
Oh, and another question, one I've mentioned before. You encounter Witch in one of the routes (oh boy), and she gives you a quiz also, albeit one that's...certainly biased towards her, asking stuff is "How cool am I?" And them sorta deals. Though, one question is literally "What is the size of my top?"
This game loves its odd questions.
-----
So, What's the Story? Well, Stories?
Well, simply put, apparently this game is after Chaotic Final Exam, and is MUCH calmer than said game. People from the game apparently have new personalities due to the events of the game, and Rulue...is delivering letters given via Masked Prince.
As stated prior, there's three routes in this game:
Characters that appear on all routes are Arle, Rulue, Masked Prince, and I believe Momomo.
Route A:
Rulue sets to find 5 magic items. Most notable characters here are Apparently Schezo, Serilly, Draco, Minotauros, and shockingly, Count and Vamp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Quite the shock, eh?)
This route...is certainly interesting. Between seeing Mino battered and bloodied by a fight, a literal possessed Arle by Count (or Vamp,) you FIGHTING Arle due to that, same deal goes for Schezo, he also got possessed, and a final fight with Count if he was overly buff...it's certainly one hellva route.
Tumblr media
(This is...wow. What an experience.)
Route B:
Rulue, with envelopes given via Masked Prince, has one of them stolen by something, and she goes to investigate it. Getting sucked into a "Wonderland," younalso get some backstory about Rulue, notably hearing her grandmother. I'll tell y'all, I was given help by people who work on the Puyo Nexus and other Puyo Translations:
Rulue and her grandmother were very close, and she gave Rulue a music box when she was about 5 years old, under a Sakura tree. When she turned 6, her grandmother fell ill, and Rulue, upset that she wasn't spending time with her on her birthday, breaks the music box.
However, when Rulue sleeps, she has a dream about her grandmother, with her saying to not be upset with her...and when Rulue woke up, she felt like she'd never see her grandmother again.
(Edit:
Notable characters here are Kikimora and Black Kikimora, Serilly, Rulue's grandmother, and Demon Servant. Yeah, he's alive in this game.
I forgot to credit the main person who did this part, @klug. That's completely on me, my apologies. They did help quite a good bit for this, so thank them for the research and info. Wouldn't have gotten this without them. Again, apologies for not putting credit.
Here's their Puyo Nexus page. Go check em out.)
Tumblr media
(YOU'RE ALIVE IN THIS GAME?)
So you know when I said this game was a lot more casual? I look real silly saying that now.
Route C:
Easily the most casual route, Rulue...is trying to cook. The grill calls for her name. I'm not joking when I say that the only characters here are Momomo and Witch. I guess Witch can cook?
This route is uh, odd. You spent most of the time doing quizzes and route splits because...I guess Witch and Momomo feel devious today. This route is notable for Witch asking that question in her quiz and only having 5 endings...Yep. 5 endings.
Something I've neglected is the ending to these routes.
There's about 30 of them.
Yeah. Good luck.
Tumblr media
(Autism be damned, Witch can apparently cook. Just have fun on the quiz.)
-----
So, The OST and Final Verdict?
The games ost is honestly decent. I can't describe it well but a lot of the music is just flat out solid, with no real complaints here. I'd say check it out at least.
And the final verdict?
The game itself is honestly very fun to browse and look around. The game gives us Rulue lore RANDOMLY that I'll gladly accept, Demon Servant, Count, and Vamp make an appearance, and the game, while confusing, is really fun to watch.
I'd say for Disc Station, it's very solid.
With that...that'll be all for today. Next week I won't post due to Thanksgiving and spending time with my family, but next time we meet, we'll finally continue our Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon translations after SO long.
See y'all then. Hope you enjoyed the show.

Hey guys. Sorry for being quiet for a month. Hopping on here to let y'all know that I do still have a pulse. Things have been... fine? I guess? Here's a bit of a wordy update on my situation right now, but the tl;dr is, I'm good, HE is still on hiatus, but I'll get back into the groove soon hopefully. Also happy holidays!
The mysterious and vague 'personal life stuff' is still ongoing, and I really don't know how long it'll be something that I have to deal with. I'm continuing to not elaborate because it is very much a personal life thing, but I can assure you that nobody's dying or anything grim like that.
On an only somewhat related note, my expendable income has shrank dramatically in the past few months, so I've been having to get a lot more stingy with what I spend money on. I'm not poverty stricken; I can still afford rent and bills and groceries and whatnot, I just gotta cut corners where I can so I can actually build up my savings.
What does this mean for Humanity's Endling? Well, it's... still on hiatus, technically. But really it just means I'm picking up more shifts than I'd usually care to, which means less time to actually work on it. If work were being done on it to begin with. I'm also cutting out my NSO subscription, which unfortunately means I will not be playing Splatoon 3 much at all anymore. Granted, I was kinda taking a break from it already, so it's not like I've been getting my money's worth of the subscription anyways. So if you were curious about my absence during this most recent Big Run, or the lack of a lengthy season observation/headcanon post like last time, that is why.
All of that said, it's not like I haven't been writing at all - just been hard focusing what creative juices I'm still able to generate given my situation on the accursed TTRPG I've mentioned in prior rambles, as that's an actively running thing that I kinda need to constantly pump stuff out for.
Speaking of which, I pulled a Super Mario Galaxy and wrote a whole ass children's book for the players to find as a lore thing. It was written with the intention of just being a normal children's book in a bubble, but when viewed with the context of the entire campaign thus far, takes on a completely different meaning. Which is to say, you don't need to know a damn thing about the campaign to appreciate the story - a theory I tested by having two people who aren't players read it.
One almost cried. The other actually cried. And when the players found it in our most recent session, one of them also cried, and we had to take a breather after the fact.
Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I feel like that's one hell of an achievement. So I am pretty proud of myself for that. If you guys are interested, I might clean it up a bit and post it either on Ao3 as an original work or just straight onto this tumblr. It's only about 2k words, so it should fit nicely in a single post.
That's all I can really think of to say at the moment. Again, even though I might seem a bit quiet, I am still here. I take a peek at tumblr at least once a day to see if anyone's sent any asks or anything like that, so don't be afraid to toss something into my inbox if you have a question.
Oh, and for the anon who sent an ask suggesting me to upload what I have of Act II done already - I don't exactly plan my stories in a linear fashion, nor do I write them as such either. It's closer to me thinking of the major moments I wanna do, plotting out how to connect them, refining, refining, refining, rearranging, refining, scrap half of what I have done, rearranging, suddenly having an epiphany, scrapping another chunk... yeah, it's a bit chaotic. I see what you're trying to say though, and I do appreciate the suggestion, but it can't really be done with the way I go about writing.
That's it from me. Happy Holidays. Play Cyberpunk 2077. It's a good game, I swear. Or Undertale Yellow if you own a toaster. It's me, I own a toaster. I played Cyberpunk on my brother's computer. Thanks, bro. Love you.

🎮💗🌱 and 🎶 for ghostoro? :3
HI CHARLIE <33 thank u for sending these!!
🎮- whats their favorite game?
i mean i think its well known but its splatoon. they play it for hours on end whenever they get in the mood to play and get Very into it. (surprising how their neighbors have not written up a noise complaint) and choro watches ghost play sometimes... he doesn't understand any of it but he tries!! 😁 choro likes to watch them play and get to see them completely focused. that and watching them get pissed and almost throw the controller across the room
as for a game they both enjoy together i think they'd like pokemon!! choro tries to be smart about everything but it its like 90% wrong. its ok they both enjoy playing the older gen games together :]
💖- how and how often do they try to impress their partner? how and how often do their partner impress them? (i didn't know which heart you meant since that specific one isn't on the list so i chose a random one :p)
choro tries to impress them a LOOOTT when they first get to know each other/start dating. changing into more "stylish" clothes, dying his hair again, trying to act smart... need i go on 🤓 ITS REALLY PAINFUL FOR GHOST they just stare at him.... like ok. can you go back to being normal again. it fizzles out later in the relationship so it's kind of just a phase he has
ghost doesn't try to impress him cause there's not really a point. everything they do impresses choro what else is there to impress....... they will occasionally infodump small things to him tho. as a treat
🌱- already answered
🎶 - what's a song they really like?
magnet. this is canon. if i say anything else shoot me dead

(Yipping and yapping)
I am super eepy rn but I don't wanna sleep because I yearn to yap but I don't got anyone to yap to.
Here's some doodles from recently ig
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll upload better/finished ones later lol
(lots of yapping under the cut)
I got so desperate to yap today that I yapped to my ENGLISH TEACHER about cotl. My friends walked in as I was doing that and I felt super embarrassed LMAO. Those same friends also decided to sit in an empty classroom today and put on those weird videos of people dying and laughed at them so I just left the room. Another friend decided to start having a very loud conversation with themself as well during class and I wanted to EXPLODE it was so embarrassing.
I'm thinking of taking some time for myself this weekend, even though I've already been isolating this whole week lol. Might make some food and play Splatoon or watch a show, just anything to keep me from feeling bad about everything and yapping my head off again (I'm so sorry if you actually read this whole thing). I was writing in my notes app earlier but I feel like I gotta get this out somewhere so idk. Obviously the aforementioned friends aren't the best to talk to, and my other friends are.... all in a call without me.
Although I've been feeling less bad about stuff like that lately, cuz honestly a lot of the time when I do join in on a call I end up not enjoying myself for... several reasons (Mostly feeling unwelcomed in one way or another, but I'm not gonna get into that here lol).
My birthday is next week and I'm dreading it more than I've ever dreaded any birthday before. My mom wants me to get a job the day of and I couldn't be less enthusiastic. I barely have enough free time as is.
I'm also realizing that I'm mad hungry rn cuz my school keeps serving the most dogshit food so I keep not eating lunch this week. I had like one tiny ass piece of chicken for dinner too. I should really log off rn cuz I keep not getting a lot of sleep, so GN everyone.
Thank you for listening to my yapping session.

Hii sorry it's been quite a bit, side order came out and I was getting 999 on the salmon run gold rotation so I was distracted by splatoon this weekend lol. Anyways, new developments for the vanny glitch!
So last time I played I realized the game counts the stage in Rockstar Row as a raised platform that stalls enemies, if you remember its what causes the Vannies to stop in place. So first I messed around with that area with Vanessa only to make sure it worked. And she, uh.. she works pretty interestingly I realized.
Tumblr media
She'll just play this weird flashlight throwing/aggressively pointing animation and stare you dead in the eyes. Vanessa please im autistic only freddy can look at me like that /hj
Tumblr media
It made for some pretty funny moments where it looked like she was beating the shit out of roxy with the flashlight LMAO. Idk why the screenshots are so blurry though sorry about that.
I died more times than I want to admit today but it led to some interesting developments. Apparently that flashlight animation is supposed to be her calling over an animatronic to your location. Apparently, she can also make them teleport, like staff bots do.. I found this out the hard way after she made roxy teleport through a wall to kill me. Should've just hopped in Freddy..
This time it took her like 5 minutes to do that "never to be seen again" run into the void. (I really wish I could follow her without dying.. idk if Freddy's speed is enough to escape Vanny..) my theory is that she's running out of bounds so she can de-spawn since the game probably doesn't want those two in the same room like this. Though it's odd her ai is programmed for a scenario that never happens normally in-game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I did get the screenshots >:D they're not in the best position I'll admit but at least it's not as blurry as the last screenshot. Thing is, there's only 1 Vanny this time.. I think I'm getting closer to figuring out how this glitch works.
I loaded in from a save file that already had the security badges and went back in bounds, did the freddy repair, watched Vanessa talk for 5 minutes per death.. you know the drill. But this time it only spawned in 1 Vanny.
I think it has something to do with the atrium loading. I can do the spawn twice, once by walking towards the save near fazerblast and the escalator next to it, and another time by walking up the escalator and going back down a different escalator. I'm unsure if you can spawn them 3 times or only 2, though the circumstances of this are very precise so there's a chance I did something differently from my initial discovery of the glitch.
A bit of a tldr here, my current theory is that each time you load and deload the atrium without respawning Vanny, the game counts it as 1 missing Vanny to add to the count next time you pass the spawn trigger.. so I think initially I went back and forth enough that the game counted it as 4 deloads, that one time it only counted as 3, i probably didn't run around back and forth as much. I'll have to test it to confirm but this theory makes the most sense to me. The fact that performing the glitch from a fresh save file (well, as fresh as you can get.) Results in 1 Vanny spawn means something you do in the atrium triggers that counter to go up. I'm unsure if 4 is the max count or if that's just coincidentally the number I hit. I want to test it out more for sure but for now that's my best guess, though I can't confirm it yet.
I feel like a mad scientist trying to figure out how this glitch works lmao. It's been a very fun experience.
HELPP NOT VANESSA RATTLING HER FLASHLIGHT AT ROXY…… i am so obsessed . With this saga….

Completing Dark Carnival on expert difficulty
Ah shit, here we go again.
Day 1.
Playing with my girlfriend Tabitha again, bless her soul. First things first, I made sure Ellis was wearing a pink outfit to match the rest of the team. Very important.
Tumblr media
The first and second maps we got through without any issue. The tunnel of love was actually the tunnel of seething hatred, though. We kept getting witches and tanks in very inconvenient spots, and at some point my dumbass blew myself up with my own explosive rounds LMAO.
Eventually though, at the cost of the entire team dying, Tabitha managed to complete the coaster! (While a charger squished Ellis into a pancake)
Then came the fourth map, and holy shit,
Suffering
Just getting to the panic event was painful enough. We barely had any supplies since the bots and I all died before this area. We were scrounging around every corner for extra pipe bombs and pills like greedy little rats. While we were doing that though, we noticed there's no respawn closet on this entire map??? Like, absolutely nowhere for your teammates to rescue you if you die. That's nuts. I knew there were no respawn closets in finale maps, but this one not having a closet was so weird to me. Never noticed that before. Anyways;
Every single time we got back to this area outside the barns I saw this gun floating in the air. I do not know how or why. Tabitha said she didn't see it. I fear I may be going insane. I have no braincells left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, on like our 15th attempt or something, Tabitha just barely managed to crawl into the saferoom!... And there was a witch in there.
(Shoutout to her goofy Splatoon mods)
Tumblr media
After that we decided it was time to call it quits for the night 😔
So, that went about as well as expected. After just over two hours of attempts we didn't even make it to the finale. But we'll try again another day! I'm one stubborn lil shit and I refuse to take an L

I've been surprisingly enjoying Baldur's Gate 3, the second ever crpg I've liked. It helps that I'm familiar with 5e and generally don't mind crunchy combat if it's interesting. BG3 combat has been interesting, but also so buggy it feels like it's still early access.
Turn-based movement just straight up dropped, turns skipped, characters dying from things that I didn't see, actions not being available when they should. Only one character going into turn-based mode, meaning they get beaten to hell while enemies take their turns and the rest of the party stands around.
I actually rage quit a game for the first time since I quit playing Splatoon and it's all because of the Hag encounter.
It's so busted. When you hit her outside her lair, she goes invisible. Cool! I have see invisibility. Except she's nowhere to be seen. I try to look around anyway since we're in turn-based mode and the redcaps aren't here yet. Except they apparently don't obey the rules of the universe, so they just ran up in real time and joined the fight. Standing a level below a masked weirdo, Astarion's ranged sneak attack pathing keeps forcing him to try to move within ~10 feet of the enemy. Which would be bad enough but he doesn't even have enough movement to do it so he can't sneak attack them at all. Same with my character's eldritch blast. It keeps forcing me into melee range with its pathing. Regular ranged attacks worked fine though, i could shoot from where i was no problem. So it obviously isn't something in the way or bad placement. Tough luck losing two of your classes' core abilities.
It feels like playing with the worst dm you've ever had. "Oh, you have truesight? Actually, the hag didn't turn invisible, sorry. She used misty step. Oh, you want to sneak attack? You'll have to climb up that wall and get in their melee range. Which you can't do anyway because of the difficult terrain. Oh and the rest of you don't get a turn because you were standing 5 feet too far away. The spider will now attack you four times."
I love a lot about it but it is not easy and the instability of the whole things just makes it somewhat unbearable

(( I feel like talking about myself outside of the few asks I sent in for that meme, so here we go!
Hi! I'm Sunny! Nice to meet you!
I live in Texas. Yeehaw.
I hit the big 3-0 this year. Specifically, on January 19th. Woohoo!
Speaking of my birthday, I share it with my grandfather! (The month and day. Not the year. LMAO.)
I have two half-brothers. One is 21 and the other is 17. They both share the same father.
My favorite color is green!
I LOVE horror! Movies, books, creepypastas, analog series on YouTube, etc. etc.! I can't say I've ever been truly AFRAID of anything in the genre, though; merely varying degrees of unsettled.
I also love video games! I played WoW for the LONGEST time (15-16 years), but I unsubbed this year due my interest finally dying out. Nowadays I play Tower of Fantasy, Genshin Impact, and FFXIV! I also enjoy The Sims, Stardew Valley, Starbound, Splatoon 3, Minecraft, and countless others.
I have a very wide range in music taste. As long as it isn't loud and mindless screaming or rap, I tend to enjoy it! My Spotify's "general music" playlist is a mishmash of varying styles from Celtic to pop to metal to oldies and everything in-between.
I also have an Alastor playlist on Spotify that I've been slowly building up for a while now; not for music HE enjoys, but for music I believe fits his character. HMU if you want the link!
I struggle greatly with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and very probable autism on a daily basis. I find it difficult to properly express myself, as well as share my ideas or even just ask people to do things with me like write or play games, even though I really want to because I hate feeling lonely.
The 1999 live action version of Animal Farm is, oddly enough, one of my comfort movies. I put it on very often and usually wind up falling asleep to it.
I am 100% a cat person. I love dogs, too, but cats have my heart. Black cats are my absolute favorite.
Some other things I love: coffee, Coca-Cola, pixel art, desserts, snow, pine scented candles, yellow roses, rats, snakes, rain, the smell of gasoline, bell bottom jeans, fake nails, puns, hugs, and singing.
My childhood TV shows consisted of The Magic School Bus, Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Bear in the Big Blue House, Little Bear, Blue's Clues, and Franklin.
I think that's enough for now, haha. Starting to run out of steam. I hope y'all enjoyed learning about me a little bit! 👉👈 ))

Was feeling a bit bad using E litre (scope, I cannot stand holding the charge and I suck at it)
I did some research as to why chargers are hated, quite a bit of it came from splatoon 1 when the E litre had Kraken and burst bomb (not to mention when gear back then had damage up GOOD LORD)- and had the most range by a margin!
Splatoon 2 it changed, I couldn't find much hate on chargers in that game specifically- but damage up and kraken were no longer a part of it which helped- but then they introduced no scoped being able to hold the charge. Which, not gonna lie, scared the shit out of me to begin with.
But I barely played splatoon 2 due to not liking (couldn't quite adapt) how the camera moves. I tried changing the sensitivity but I couldn't find a comfortable way to move. So I participated in the Splatfests and some rare turf!
Splatoon 3 came along and the chargers had more hate. I get the whole long ass range thing, and after some discussions (both friends and family, but I was stubborn and couldn't really understand what they meant.
Especially since I was a sniper main.
But after playing with friends (and going up against some darn good snipers holding their charge) I started to understand.
Sometimes I don't like to admit it but yeah, the long range, some being able to hold charges, if the sniper can aim then it seriously restricts your movement- well access to chunks of the map.
I would argue what about hydras and heavys? They have range and an annoying fire rate. I find them super challenging to go up against!! (I swear to god my sister chose the heavy for that specific purpose to annoy me)
Oh well that's just my opinion, I was originally trying to find out why snipers/chargers were hated so much.
And during that find, I found that blasters have a surprising amount of hate as well. How? Luna has like no range and the Range blaster shoots out kinda slow?
But people were annoyed that they could die in one shot, when people directed them with the blasters (except the rapid and the clash- don't even get me started on the clash!)
Another thing with the snipers- chargers is people hated dying suddenly, a few said that it startled them when their inkling just exploded.
Snipers do have map advantage- I couldn't see or admit that before but after playing other weapons for a while I was in the other person's shoes-
(and friends and my brother (who is an expert on this game), had both told me but I wouldn't listen which I feel bad about now, I wish I was more open minded with these things).
- and I understood, there was one time I got sniped out of the blue and I jumped because I had no idea how I died lol.
One comment said snipers are seen as "campers" for when they have the high ground. I don't even stay on the same perch in matches, not to mention I prefer being on level ground because I ain't exactly good at aiming down. I move around way too much for a charger.
I don't know what the point of this rant is, or why it got so long.
Was just chattin' with the fam and we fell into a discussion on weapons and what has changed since splatoon 1 to splatoon 3. And then it moved onto hated weapons and what was op and not- so we did some research online!
Why do I feel like I'm gonna get hate for this post

Just some thoughts on the charger weapon class in Splatoon 3, and why I think everyone can benefit from playing charger!
Splatoon 3 is a shooter game with no aim assist, so everything is raw input. This can be kind of scary at first, especially if you had no experience with shooters before like I had before picking up Splatoon. In fact, I purposely only played rollers and brushes for almost the entirety of Splatoon 2 because I was insecure in my ability to aim well.
If you’re like me, and don’t have much experience with shooters and aiming, you probably did the same thing .. and by nature of this fear that you’re horrible at aim, using a charger would be your worst nightmare. You have to actually perfectly be on a target to kill the target because they’re snipers... but I’m telling you they’re such a great class to improve your aim greatly.
Even if you’re a roller main at heart ( like me ) aim will actually make your gameplay 10x better with a roller even though rollers are typically more forgiving if you can’t aim well. and if you’re a shooter.. prepare to get a lot better once you start using a charger. I went from barely being able to get 3 kills while using a shooter to averaging 7-13 kills. I also die a LOT less.
Here are some key things to remember when first trying out playing chargers:
1.  Don’t be worried about how many kills you get or how many games you win.
Starting off you might lose tons of games, always die, and barely, if ever kill. That’s completely okay. The first 5 of games  I played using a charger  I couldn’t manage to muster a single kill. Once I got one, I treated it like an Olympic medal. After playing charger for about 2 months now, I can get 5-8 kills on average and 10+ on a good day, dying no more than 3 times on a bad game!  Don’t get discouraged, try out different locations and types of chargers.
2. You have scary dog privilege.
People are really scared of chargers. Even if you don’t do anything one round, you technically did, because your sheer presence makes the other team more wary to push  to your side of the map. No joke. It isn’t always like this (especially if you keep dying and the other team takes note of that) but simply you being there is enough of a scare tactic to get a lot of players to back off. You help even if you feel like you’re doing horribly, don’t worry.
And here are some tips  that can help you long term..:
1. Be okay with  changing positions.
When a lot of people start charging, they may feel comfortable only sitting in one spot of the map , never moving there, and it becomes predictable for the other team. You may notice that once you get killed at one spot a couple of times, the other team will continuously throw bombs and be around that area to prevent you from coming. Being able to move positions, moving forward at a push, or moving back to keep yourself from dying, will help you dramatically in the long run and prevent you from dying so much. You may even wanna change positions to get a better look at players! Moving as a charger is really helpful. Plus, the current Splatoon maps are so powerful for chargers ( especially E-liter, the poor map design alone makes E-liter a top tier weapon pick) so  its easy to move and have a decent view.
2.  Use the new movement options, they’ll benefit you.
In Splatoon 3, we got the new squid roll and squid surge. While squid surges really aren’t that helpful for chargers with long charge times, squid roll is beneficial for every single player, including people playing chargers. Squid roll is what helps prevent me dying so much. Always squid roll even if you’re not doing anything particularly interesting;  squid rolls can save you from bombs, people coming at you, and some specials! (Plus it’s so fun to do!)
Many chargers also have a charge hold, which pops you out of the ink really fast once you stop swimming. I use this to my advantage ALL the time. by holding your charge, swimming and popping up periodically or extremely fast makes you less predictable and harder to hit. I use this the most when I don’t know where the other teams players are, or if another charger is trying to hit me.
3. Pay attention to certain enemy weapons.
Dualies and inkbrushes are your WORST nightmare as a charger. Dualies move considerably fast and inkbrushes are also extremely fast when running with the brush down. get away from these players as FAST as possible to prevent dying and keep an eye on them more than other players so they don’t sneak up on you!
4. Get gear that can benefit your playstyle and makes you feel good.
What I mean by this is don’t just always slap something on because someone tells you to slap it on. Gear abilities will change from how you play, and you should pick something to wear because you want to wear it and like how it looks. Wearing something you find ugly only for the abilities it has can make you feel less good if customization really matters to you like it does for me! Here’s what I run for my E-liter, because I want less time spent staying in the ink or being dead and because I love the outfit:
Tumblr media
... That’s all, of course you don’t have to get better at aim if you don’t want to, play however you like and what’s most fun! However, if you want to get better at aim, build more confidence with your aim, or start using chargers, I hope this can help you. You should play chargers as they can improve your aim very fast. <3

Notes: And here it is, we’ve reached the end!
AO3 | S&C | Tumblr
--
Blaine’s in his hallway, but instead of going to number 23, he follows Kurt to number 21. Kurt unlocks his door, but he shoots a quick glance towards Blaine’s door.
“Still so weird.”
“I agree,” Blaine says.
“I can’t believe we got mad at each other for celebrating Splatoon 2 wins together.”
“You also got mad at me rehearsing for The Street.”
“I knew the music sounded familiar!” Kurt opens the door and Blaine follows him inside. Kurt’s apartment has the same lay-out as Blaine’s, only mirrored, which is why their office spaces were next to each other.
“In your defence, I only played one instrument at the time, instead of the full song.”
Kurt turns back to Blaine with a nervous look on his face. Blaine raises an eyebrow.
“You’re… the first guest I’ve ever had,” Kurt says quietly and Blaine’s heart breaks all over again, but then he sees that despite the nervosity, there’s also a hint of pride on Kurt’s face, “So, uh, what do you think?”
Blaine can’t help it. He sees the look on Kurt’s face and he instinctively takes a step forward and he takes Kurt’s hand in his without thinking. He doesn’t realise he’s holding Kurt’s hand until he sees Kurt’s eyes flicking down to their joined hands.
But Kurt doesn’t seem uncomfortable, so Blaine doesn’t shy away.
After all, they have admitted how they feel.
“It’s lovely,” Blaine says and he squeezes Kurt’s hand, “You’re lovely.”
Kurt turns a bit red.
“Oh, stop it, you’ve barely looked around,” he jokes.
“Well, then, give me the grand tour of number 21!”
“Be my guest,” Kurt says with an overly formal voice.
Then he proceeds to lead Blaine around the apartment and he gives Blaine an actual proper tour, only Blaine barely registers it. How can he look at Kurt’s fancy kitchen appliances when Kurt’s hand is in his? How can he be interested in Kurt’s nice TV, when he is dying to kiss Kurt? How can he appreciate the paintings on the wall when Kurt is the most beautiful thing he’s seen?
“And this is my dad,” Kurt picks up a photo frame and that does snap Blaine back to reality. He’s already ashamed of zoning out when Kurt was talking about the colour of his couch, so he absolutely will never forgive himself if he doesn’t give the memory of Burt Hummel his full attention.
It’s also the first time that Blaine gets to see the face behind this name. Burt has a kind face and the smile seems to light up the room, even from a photograph.
“Will you be going home soon?” Blaine asks. It’s almost the anniversary of Burt’s death.
Kurt nods.
“Will you come with me?” he says.
Blaine’s head jerks toward Kurt. His eyes go wide with disbelief. Kurt looks equally stunned by his question and he starts to backtrack.
“I mean, you don’t have to! It’s silly! We only just met and this is a big deal- I don’t want to burden you- and I don’t even know if my stepmother- I mean, don’t feel pressured! You’re just- I mean… I know this is a big step and everything…”
While Kurt’s stumbling over his words, Blaine’s started to grin. Kurt trails off when he sees it.
“I’d love to go with you,” Blaine says, “If you’ll have me.”
“Of course I’ll have you! I just asked.”
Kurt puts the photo back and he continues the tour. Blaine looks over the shoulder, back to the photo of the smiling Burt. He knows that the man’s dead and Blaine doesn’t really believe in anything after death, but he still gives Burt a nod, promising him that he’ll be there for Kurt. It only feels right, since Blaine knows how important Burt is.
Since number 21 and 23 have the same layout, only mirrored, Blaine knows where they’re heading next. The office space.
Kurt turns on the lights and Blaine cannot believe what he’s seeing. Yes, his eyes fall on Kurt’s Nintendo Switch, which is docked on a desk with a fancy monitor, but that’s not the most impressive part. There are mannequins everywhere. Rolls of fabric are lined against the wall. Kurt even has an old looking sewing machine.
“Holy shit,” Blaine breathes out, “Now I definitely need to apologise for all my loud music. I hope I didn’t break your concentration, because this is impressive.”
This is clearly Kurt’s passion. Blaine looks around the room some more, taking it all in. Now, Blaine knows there’s nothing wrong about working in a wardrobe crew. After all, Blaine also works behind the scene in the theatre, but as he looks around he realises that Kurt can go very far in the fashion industry. This is amazing. Kurt is amazing.
“Thank you,” Kurt says bashfully. He blushes and it’s adorable and Blaine can’t help himself. He wants to kiss Kurt so badly.
He turns back to Kurt, ready to finally kiss him, when suddenly Kurt’s hand are cupping his face.
And then Blaine’s being kissed. Lips are pressed against his own and it takes only a split second for Blaine’s mind to catch up with what is happening. He reaches Kurt’s hands and he places his own over them. He kisses back.
He’s thought about this from the moment Kurt showed up at Think Coffee. Maybe even before that. The wait was so worth it. Blaine doesn’t want this to end. One of his hands reaches the back of Kurt’s head and he pulls him closer.
The two of them stumble backwards until they run into one of the mannequins.
“Oh my-” Blaine quickly reaches to steady Kurt’s work and he hears Kurt chuckle in the background.
“I think we were a little bit excited,” Kurt says, “I’ve been wanting to do that forever. It- I wish it hadn’t taken so long, if only I just…”
“We got there in the end,” Blaine says quickly and he presses a kiss on Kurt’s cheek. Because he can do that. He gets to kiss Kurt. “And besides, it’s not as if I ever gave you the time of day.”
“I’m glad you started working at The Street and I slowly got to know you.”
Blaine barks out a laugh. “God, and to think I was jealous of myself!”
“Well, so was I, at the very end!” Kurt laughs along. They’re ridiculous. They’ve been next to each other all this time, at the building, but also at The Street.
Blaine’s almost tempted to suggest calling in sick, so that the two of them could have the evening to themselves, but they also both love working at The Street. So instead, he suggests his favourite restaurant for takeout. It’s time for an early dinner, since they leave around 6PM to go to the theatre.
Blaine insists on paying, since that’s the etiquette for a first date. He’s a gentleman after all.
“First date?” Kurt quirks an eyebrow, “Are you planning on a second?”
Blaine nods eagerly.
“And a third. And a forth. And so on,” he says. Kurt’s face softens and it makes Blaine want to kiss him all over again.
Then he realises that he can.
Maybe he’s being a bit too bold, but Blaine tugs at Kurt’s vest to pull him closer and he plants a huge kiss on Kurt’s mouth. When Kurt doesn’t immediately kiss back, Blaine worries he’s overstepped, but then Kurt pushes him against his dining table and kisses him with full-force.
Blaine’s still tugging at Kurt’s clothes and Kurt’s hands are also roaming around Blaine’s chest. Kurt has no problems taking what he wants. Where has this Kurt been hiding?
Well, Blaine knows.
He’s so happy that Kurt can be comfortable around Blaine.
Blaine has no idea how long they’ve been kissing, but at one point they break away. Kurt leans his head on Blaine’s shoulder and Blaine needs to take some time to regain his composure.
“Maybe we should… uh… cool down before dinner and work,” Kurt stumbles through his words. Blaine also readjusts his bowtie. Kurt’s probably right. Blaine lifts Kurt’s head and he presses their foreheads together.
“What do you suggest we do then?” he asks.
“We could play a round?” Kurt suggests and it’s as if a lightbulb lights up, “You know, as a distraction of sorts. It makes sense for us.”
Yes, of course, Splatoon 2! The thing that brought them together in the first place.
“Yes!” Blaine exclaims, “Hopefully there’s some Clam Blitz!”
“Go get your Switch then!”
Kurt and Blaine rush to no. 23. Blaine forgoes the tour. They can do that another time, since they now have that time, but Kurt still looks around. Once they’re in the office, Kurt’s impressed by the many instruments.
“Wow, and you said I was impressive,” he says while Blaine searches for his procontroller, “I know you are talented, but this really proves it.”
“Ah, it’s nothing,” Blaine tries to shrug it off, but he still feels a warm, affectionate feeling. The two of them go back to Kurt’s apartment.
Blaine goes to unplug his Switch dock, but Kurt stops him.
“You can use my dock,” he says, “I play Splatoon 2 in handheld.”
“Really?” Blaine says with wide eyes. They’ve been playing together for months and he never knew this. “How do you do that?”
“How do you play in TV or tabletop mode, Blaine?” Kurt says back in the same tone.
Blaine gets his stuff and they walk back to Kurt’s apartment. Blaine’s mind still boggles when he thinks about how Kurt was here next to him all this time. It’s a new place for Blaine, but it already feels so familiar, since he knows Kurt. Is it too soon to think about exchanging spare keys, because they’re already going back and forth.
Kurt and Blaine get ready to play Splatoon 2, like usual, but now they’re next to each other, in the flesh. Blaine gives Kurt a wink and he starts the game.
--
Avalon does a double take then they see Kurt and Blaine arriving hand in hand with huge grins on their faces.
“Blaine Anderson! I… you… oh… Is this what I think it is?”
“Avalon Chanthara, it is,” Blaine says knowingly, when he sees that Avalon opens their mouth to say something.
Avalon claps both Kurt and Blaine on the back.
“Sweet, Viola owes me ten bucks now,” they say before running off to the pit. Kurt and Blaine can hear them yell: “Yo, Viola! Viola! You never guess what happened! Where are you?”
“Someone’s excited,” Kurt says with a smile.
Blaine shakes his head and laughs.
“God, my high school friends are going to be insufferable when they find out.”
Wes has been texting him all day, but Blaine thinks he can let him wait a little bit longer. He wants today to be about Kurt. He can deal with the Warblers tomorrow.
“Yeah,” Kurt sounds somber.
Blaine cups his face.
“Hey, you know who else will definitely have an opinion on this?” he asks.
Kurt raises an eyebrow.
“Sam, Artie and Mike,” Blaine answers.
“Oh.”
“Give them a call, Kurt,” Blaine says sweetly, “They miss you.”
“I miss them,” Kurt admits, “I miss all of them so much, Blaine.”
“I know you’ve already started reaching out to some of your friends-”
“Mercedes, Rachel, Elliot…”
Those names mean nothing to Blaine, but that also intrigues him in a way. Now that they know each other offline, there’s so much more to learn about Kurt and Blaine can’t wait to get to know him better, including his friends.
“-and of course, there is no rush, but I think they’d be very glad to hear from you.”
“I…” Kurt looks alarmed, “I can… try, yeah. My dad- they’ll- fuck. My brother too. They were huge friends with my brother.”
A name rings in Blaine’s mind. Something like Winn? Finn? Gwyn? Whatever it is, Blaine remembers that Artie, Mike and Sam had a little private moment when they discussed their friends. Blaine obviously couldn’t have known before, but he realises that they probably mentioned Kurt’s brother.
Blaine pulls Kurt into a tight hug.
“You can come along next week?” Blaine suggests, “We’re meeting at Sam and Mike’s place to brainstorm.”
“Thanks,” Kurt hugs back, “I’ll think about it.”
They hug for a little while, but it’s really time to get to work. Blaine gives Kurt a quick kiss and they part ways, but they know they’ll see each other during the break and after work. It’s all great.
--
The pace of the music speeds up. It’s the last minute of the match, which means that Now or Never kicks in.
“One more minute,” Kurt says.
“On it,” Blaine says back.
Blaine shoots one of the ink switches to move the platform so that he can cover more turf. Zappy Longshocking is a great Shifty Station stage. He hopes that all these exclusive stages become available to play again one day.
There was a bit of contention about this Splatfest’s teams. Blaine is definitely team Pulp. He definitely agreed with Pearl: orange juice is supposed to be fruity and pulpy, otherwise it’s just flavoured water. Kurt didn’t have any strong feelings about it, but he admitted that No-Pulp is probably the best way to drink orange juice, and he likes to pick Marina’s team when he doesn’t know which side to pick.
In the end, he picked Blaine over Marina, so now Kurt and Blaine are on team Pulp together for this Splatfest.
Playing with Artie, Sam and Mike is amazing and they’re training hard to see if they can join actual small-scale competitions, but Blaine still gets a certain rush from playing with Kurt. Blaine knows Kurt’s playstyle like no other.
Kurt still doesn’t want to do competitive, but he relented and told Artie, Sam, Mike and Blaine that he can be on reserve, if needed. It doesn’t hurt that this means that Kurt will come along to possible upcoming competitions.
“Inkstorm incoming!” Kurt yells as he launches his special. Blaine swims to the other side of the stage under Kurt’s inkstorm and he launches a burst bomb, splatting an opponent.
“Yes!” Blaine cheers and he holds up his hand for a high five. They no longer need to slam their tables, now that they are actually sat next to each other.
“Nice one!” Kurt returns the high five.
On screen, Little Judd announces that team Pulp has won the match. Kurt and Blaine jump off the coach to hug and cheer and they jump the living room in Kurt’s childhood home. They must’ve made quite some noise, because Carole looks up from her book. She’s sitting at the dining table.
“Having fun?” she asks with an amused look on her face.
Kurt and Blaine tried explaining the game to her, since they wanted to explain how they met in the first place, but Carole doesn’t quite understand it. That’s fine. After she scolded Kurt for meeting a stranger on the internet in real life (“Carole, it’s 2018, people fall in love through the internet all the time!”), she welcomed Blaine with open arms.
Blaine was a bit worried about imposing on such an important moment, but Kurt wants Blaine to be here to celebrate his father’s life, and Carole is just happy to see Kurt happy.
“Carole, the rush of playing this game is unmatched!” Kurt says happily. He still has his arm around Blaine’s shoulders and Blaine is grinning.
Carole shakes her head, but she has a fond look on her face. Then she goes back to her book.
“Another round?” Blaine reaches for his controller and he sits down on the couch. Kurt grabs his Switch and he sits down next to Blaine. He leans his head against Blaine’s shoulder.
Blaine sees that as a yes. He starts the next match and Kurt and Blaine get ready to play.
--
End notes: Woah, we did it! We’ve reached the end.
I want to thank @the-lima-bean for hosting. This was my first ever fest and I’ve learnt a lot. I also love seeing the other entries, so definitely check them out on The Lima Bean’s blog or in the AO3 collection.
Thank you Beth @quizasvivamos for giving me a reason to use Splatoon 2 as a love language. Never thought I’d say that. It brought me a lot of joy to drop random Splatoon 2 stuff in a fic. If someone still has questions about Splatoon 2, I’ll once again redirect you to the Splatoon 2 Glossary, or you can ask me.
A big, big, big thank you to Judas @catb0ycore, who surprised me with not one but 3 art pieces! I am so happy with how it turned out and it made me even more excited to share this story.
On a small tangent, I want to sort of thank a Zimbits (the from Check, Please! comic) fic called Will Wonders Never Cease. There were some moments that I got stuck writing Ebb & Flow and this fic really worked as an inspiration and helped me get out over several writer’s blocks. It only feels fitting to thank it.
And lastly, thank you for reading. As they’d say in Splatoon 2: Don’t get cooked, stay off the hook!

so that was yet another mediocre big run. i think they’re all gonna be like that as long as they start at the daily reset and i don’t get into the game for at least 8 hours (my best experiences with salmon run are when a new rotation starts 8 hours after the reset and i jump in right away. 2 of the 3 all-grizzco rotations were like that, and i got to 820 in the first and 999 in the second)
there isn’t exactly anything preventing me from playing when it starts i guess, unless i have work, just the habit i’ve fallen into since splatoon 3 launched to pretty much only play the game at the very very end of my day for some reason? idk why, it’s just settled into my routine that that’s when Splatoon Time is. i could explore shifting things around so i could start earlier next big run if i’m not working
...........which i was this time, so i couldn’t get a lot out of this one! also my shift saturday night ended 12 hours before my shift sunday morning started so that didnt help
played just about long enough to fight 2 king salmonids both nights (and i beat 2 cohozuna and 1 horrorboros, and got some gold scales). barely reached evp 200, record was only 121 which is the lowest i’ve gotten aside from the disaster the first one was, most of my teammates seemed very prone to dying so i had to focus more on survival than grabbing eggs a lot of the time
the thing i really wanted out of this was to try the grizzco dualies, and i got several chances with them. theyre so fun. definitely my favorite grizzco weapon. i dont even care that i didnt get a lot of eggs that thing rules. even if it can only roll 9 times instead of infinitely

Ok I made the Nintendo franchises tier list and am ready to see everyone protest
Tumblr media
I'm not going to go over the franchises I've never heard of or know VEEEEEEEEERY little about. Therefore I'll only be talking about things in the "Absolutely love" tier down to the "Meh" tier, in that order. If I know a franchise and have experienced it, I'll mention that. If not, I'll just give my initial impression of it. Anyway, let'sa go!
Also I forgot to take screenshots of each individual tier and am too lazy to go back and actually add them, so if you get lost come back up here, k? K :).
Second little thing, I just went forward a color on the rainbow with each tier I cover. So PLEASE pay attention to what tier I'm actually on, and not so much the color.
Starting with the "Absolutely love" tier...
#1: Super Mario. Mario is, without a doubt, my favorite Nintendo franchise to ever exist. I've played a lot of Mario games and have legitimately beaten a couple of them (Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario 3D Land--both for the 3DS--if you're curious). Otherwise I just cheat and die ten million times until I get that essentially-immortal powerup lol, or in the case of Super Mario Bros. Wii, Luigi SOMEHOW does the entire stage for me. But yeah, Mario is my absolute FAV, my entire childhood was Mario. Love this franchise from the bottom of my heart :).
#2: Animal Crossing. Ok so most of you will be shocked, but I've TECHNICALLY never played any Animal Crossing game. I know what you do, I know characters from the games, and I know how the games work, but I've never played one before. I even know that older games had more...COLORFUL villagers but less to do, and newer games have A LOT more to do but less interesting villagers. WITH this being said, I absolutely love Animal Crossing and am DYING to try the franchise at somepoint. Instant favorite even though I've never tried a game from the franchise before.
Now to the "Pretty good" tier :D.
#1: Mariokart. Mariokart rocks man. I've only played a couple of the games--Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS and the REGULAR Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U--but even then I still love them. I've played these two games so much I've essentially become a god at both of them. The maps and music often SLAP too.
#2: Zelda. I have technically played Zelda...barely. I don't remember what game it was, but I know it was on a DS or 3DS. Based on the TINY bit I remember about the graphics and environment, I think it was Ocarina of Time. I don't really remember anything--I made like 0 progress in the game lol--but I still think it's a good franchise! Majora's Mask especially peaks my interest.
#3: Luigi's Mansion. Similar to Animal Crossing, I've never actually played a Luigi's Mansion game. However, I HAVE seen a full playthrough of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, so I think I have a decent grasp on what the franchise is about lol. A side series focusing on Luigi is always nice--poor guy always gets overshadowed by Mario--and the concept, as well as atmosphere, is really intriguing to me. I definitely want to give this franchise a try in the future as well.
Next up, the "Not Bad" tier :>.
#1: Mario Party. Mario Party's not too shabby! I did play one of these games at one point, but I completely forget which one it is. I THINK there were maybe 3 different maps? I know it was on the DS or 3DS too. Anyway, Mario Party's pretty fun, especially if you play with friends, hehe :>.
#2: Splatoon. I will admit I don't know a lot about Splatoon, but I really like the little I DO know about it. I know there's a minigame where you try to color the cap with ink--or is it a minigame?--and I know a few of the characters you can play as, but that's pretty much it. Still seems interesting though!
#3: Paper Mario. Mario but on paper! Also partly 2D? I think? I'm assuming the whole point of the games is that most of it is in 2D. I honestly have no idea :P. But yeah, the games seem fun! I think these games are known for having villains that aren't Bowser--which if so is genius--as well, but I could be wrong.
#4: Mario & Luigi. I BARELY know anything about this franchise, but it seems all right! I'm assuming you can swap between controlling Mario and controlling Luigi, and I think there's Baby Mario & Baby Luigi too in a couple games.
#5: Metroid. Samus is from here! At least I'm pretty sure Samus is from here :P. I don't know much about Metroid either, but I do know it's a shooter/platformer-type deal and is centered around sci-fi and aliens. At least I think it is lol.
#6: Pikmin: Ok so, to be completely honest, I know virtually nothing about Pikmin. I know it exists, I know some characters look like goofy little plants...and that's about it. The only reason Pikmin is this high is because I know it exists and like some of the designs lol. I know nothing else about it.
Finally, the "Meh" tier!
#1 Pokemon. Okay, in all honesty, I should've put Pokemon a little higher, but I already made the list and don't want to go back and correct it. I have some good memories from Pokemon, but I only really like the part where you wander around towns and talk to people. I'm not too keen on capturing Pokemon, leveling them up, battling Pokemon...you know, the entire plot of Pokemon. I've only played Pokemon on my cousin's DS--or was it 3DS?--when we hung out together at a family gathering and had nothing to do. I never even owned a Pokemon game. Boy the Pokemon fans are gonna hate me for this T-T.
#2: Dr. Mario. Um. You play as Mario, but a doctor. You...match things? Pills maybe? And kill viruses? I think that's the point? Idk man, that's literally all I know. Seems cool, but strays so far from the main Mario IP that it doesn't interest me all that much.
#3: Starfox. This one's ok. I like the concept of intergalactic travel and it kinda being the Nintendo version of Space Invaders, but meh...I never really wanted to play a game from this franchise all that much. The one thing I like about it is this really weird easter egg from one of the games that would be too long to explain here :P.
#4: Kirby. Ok this is gonna be embarrassing, but for so long I thought Kirby was a female. 'Course now I know Kirby's a male, but dang, past me was dumb and never thought to look it up on Google ;-;. But yeah, Kirby's also ok. Kinda seems a bit too similar to Mario in my eyes, though I guess Mario can't eat literally anything :P.
#5: Yoshi. I've never actually played a game with Yoshi as the protagonist. I always just encountered Yoshi in a regular Mario game. The games seem all right, Wooly World looks GORGEOUS though holy CRAP.
#6: Donkey Kong. Finally, another franchise I've actually played! Donkey Kong is...eh. Never really liked it. My parents bought a couple Donkey Kong games over the years, but I only played one, and that is Donkey Kong Country Returns. At least I think that's how it goes. There are a couple highlights I liked from the game, first is the stage with that minecart. THAT was fun, even if I sucked at it lol. The other highlight is those weird pillar things with faces that scream bloody murder. I like those things so much and I don't know why. But yeah, I didn't get far into the game, and Donkey Kong ultimately suffers the same problem as Kirby: it's too similar to Mario. I'd rather play a Mario game than both Kirby and Donkey Kong.
#& Wario Ware. Truth be told, I know nothing about this franchise, but I'm GUESSING it includes all the Wario titles, because what else would it involve :P. The franchise seems all right I guess, but still, I'd rather play Mario.
Well that's it, this actually went quicker than I thought it would lol, but that's partly because I know so few Nintendo franchises. And to think I thought I know most of 'em...NOPE :D. Guess I need to work on that. I'm ready for you all to say my opinions are horribly controversial now :P.

Splatoon 3- So Far only so Deep Cut
I’ve been playing splatoon 3 for a little while now, only a few days really. So I thought why not go through my thoughts.
1. would have to be that for all intensive purposes splatoon 3 is an entirely rebranded splatoon. when i played 1 and 2 I felt like the two existed symbiotically; that splatoon 2 was a proper evolution of the systems and ideas started and completed there. Now splatoon 3 is its own standing on its two legs while still being built up by its predicessos and in its themes of anarchy it is doing its own thing.
2. story mode has been really good so far. I spare the details but I’ve been enjoying it. Alot of the design choices that were established previously have been refresh, for a lack of better words, and so has been interesting to see what they have done so far.
I will say one thing and that was I felt a sort of chartarsis when I inked agent 3 much like they would have in splatoon 1. Something about that coming full circle upon them like tidal karma made me feel something really emotional and really funny inside.
3. I’ve haven’t played much of the online. Only about about two dozen matches and I’m only about level 6 right now. But I have a habit of getting my ass kicked whenever I try to play. Maybe that’s just because i’ve only been playing turf wars and that anarchy battles would much more fit my fancy but all the weapons feel off and with what little you can buy even right now it kinda makes battling against other people a battle against myself to see how well I maneuver myself towards victory like I’m fighting the ocean.
As a roller main it kinda sucks now to play. I’ve tried other weapons but they don't hit right and other people are too good at this. I might just need some time to adjust or grind out to get higher level weapons.
I still think the game is fun. its that ‘game so hard that when you come out victorious somehow’ kinda of feeling. You can’t always win but when you don’t lose that means something that can’t just be replicated through only winning ever match cause then it get boring trying to find competition when your the strongest man in the room.
Splatoon is a series I care for even when its not at its best or sometimes slacking. I think splatoon is one of the coolest games out there just for music alone, let alone the art direction and ascetic they perfectly hone onto for each game to make each one feel entirely unique despite following the same rules and principles.
I always found it fun to see every two months people entirely split amongst themselves entirely like civil war over the argument of ‘red or blue’ dying on hills and painting entire sculptures of modern art in the pixel art messages you can post on the game and see all around the city. The feeling of the splatfest itself and when they wind down where everyone laughs together seeing how silly it was but knowing fully well that it was a war out there.
Splatoon is a series i love very dearly and will see to it. And that still is the case.
