“I'm proud of you.”

Hey everyone, sorry for the sudden disappearance, Im done with exams now though!!

Content warning: No Y/n here Trigger warnings: Self-depracation, Insecurity of intellect, a lot of crying (lol) #masterlist

Word count: 2.5k

December in the city of Lixing has always been filled with extravagant and grandiose decor.

The gleaming of lights, the loud chatter of citizens walking by, and the salty yet sweet aroma from the tiger fish being grilled, really makes you think that this city is paradise.

If only it was that simple.

Humans would not know the arrival of January, if it wasn’t for the countdown of each new year. The freezing morning breeze nipped at Venia’s skin, stuffing both of her hands further into her winter coat, she nuzzled into the thick scarf wrapped around and around her neck, in a futile attempt to conserve body heat. She was taking a stroll to cool down, an escape from her emotional struggles.

She quickened her pace as she weaved through the ever-growing crowd, although crowds forming in Lixing harbour isn’t something that happens once in a blue moon, she found it strange that Lixing was so busy in the morning. So, hoping to catch a glimpse of what was going on, she found herself in front of the crowd. Apparently, a child that went by the name of Zhongwing was spewing out lines and lines of poetry just by looking at an item.

“Zhongwing! What do you make of this cup of tea?” An older gentleman questioned with a small cup of Iron Guanyin tea in hand.

The younger boy, around twelve years of age, inspected the cup of tea carefully, before nodding to himself and raised his head to meet the man’s expecting gaze. She expected to hear a croaky voice that was of a pubescent boy, however, the moment he spoke- her jaw dropped.

His voice at first, albeit scratchy, was surprisingly refined. His eloquent way of speaking and mannerisms could easily fool you into believing he was a wise poet, living off of the dew of a single ginkgo leaf in the mountains. Not only that, the contents of his on-the-spot poem held so much meaning, it could’ve been something that poets and bards spent years and years perfecting and developing- and yet this… child spent merely half a minute composing.

As the poem came to an end, the crowd went wild with oohs and ahhs, while Venia remained silent, she wasn’t so sure if it was because of awe, or envy. Her mind churned as she stared at the cup of tea- the inspiration for the poem the preteen just wrote.

The chitter-chatter of the crowd was slowly drowned out as the self-deprecating thoughts encompassed her. She couldn’t take it anymore, the air was suffocating- she let her tears fall. Shutting her eyes with force, she felt like she was transported into the void. Venia scanned her surroundings immediately, like prey that had been backed up against a wall by a predator, waiting for that very moment to become devoured. Perhaps it would be a nice way to pass; quickly and painlessly. As the thought materialised in her mind, she forced a laugh, one that was meant to sound genuine, as a means of coping- however due to the overwhelming amount of tears, she found herself choking instead. Pulling her legs towards her chest, her head made contact with her clothed knees, in a useless attempt to wipe her tears away. “WHY CAN’T I EVER SUCCEED IN LIFE?! CAN’T I JUST EXCEL ON MY OWN??” The sudden outburst of noise echoed and echoed through the void, blurring into something incomprehensible. Jolting awake, she realised she was crouched on the ground instead of standing. She felt the disparaging stares on her like sharp spears, paired with the judgemental whispers that swirled around her, she couldn’t handle it anymore.

Footsteps. Running. Scoffs. Breathing. Heartache.

Everything was a blur. The only feeling she felt was the ache in her chest.

Not before long, she found herself atop a hill overlooking Lixing harbour. She couldn’t bear looking at that child again, not when she realised that she was never good enough, even as a child. Venia’s sight blurred, feeling the fat tears rolling down her cheeks did she realise she was breaking down.

She had always been praised as the “gifted child”, the only person who could remain calm and collected during tense situations, how ironic.

Perhaps that’s the reason why she doesn’t have any friends, nor family members; they all thought she was out of their league, as such, they stayed out of her way.

Her smile quivered, her façade of happiness wavering; how naïve of her to think that her masquerade would continue for eternity, how naïve of her to have thought that maybe, just maybe she could’ve been at the top.

A smile of self-deprecation danced upon her lips, before a burst of maniacal laughter consumed her; she was weak from the start. Her jaw clenched as her body went tense. Knees buckling, she felt a harsh impact on them. Although they stung a lot, she paid it no mind.

Nostrils flaring, hands curled up into a fist, she let out her pent-up frustration and anger. “WHY WAS I SO USELESS? WHY DIDN’T I STUDY HARDER??? WHY DID I GIVE UP??” She screamed in rage. Her knuckles were raw; they were freckled with dirt

Breathing heavily, she let the tears drop onto the grass, face contorted in agony. Her head was ducked down as both her arms and knees supported the weight of her entire body. Her arms wavered and shook as the tears dropped onto the grass one by one. Only the sounds of erratic breathing were present; inhaling, she felt the chilly air moving into her system, only exhaling did she find it more pleasant.

Venia blinked away at the tears, before looking up at a tree nearby and noticing what seemed to be a dip in the ground. Putting in a shred of motivation she had left, she crawled forward- she didn’t trust in her abilities to walk at that moment.

She made her way forward cautiously, and peered down the dip- upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a hole that appeared larger the deeper it went, conveniently human-sized.

Looking around, she searched for any passersby that may “save” her if she really fell into the hole, but frankly, she was perfectly content in staying in one. The only thing stopping her was the pang of guilt when she thought of the possibility of bringing other people misery or anguish. Her heart aches; after the death of her only family member, it didn’t matter now.

She sighed to herself, “I guess it ends here, I really have no one left huh?”

She jumped.

Venia massaged her head in an attempt to relieve some pain from the fall, she- wait, what? The fall? She blinked a few times to adjust her eyesight to her surroundings, while the ringing in her ears gradually subsided. After only a few seconds of observing, she concluded that she had no idea where in the world she was.

She then decided the best course of action would just be to explore the vicinity. Strolling down the hallway, she held out her hand to brush against the walls, to be absolutely sure that this was real. Honestly though, she really couldn’t differentiate between real and fake, I suppose that applies to our world as well.., she mused.

The halls were made of sickly white, faintly illuminated by the yellow-orange lamps hanging from the ceiling. Reflective tiles crawled up halfway from the ground, albeit tidily. Peculiar was the fact that there held several doors in the halls, with the same stomach-turning white.

Venia hated white. Not that she hated the colour, rather, she hated the memories it brought. Eyes glancing around, she dragged herself through the hallway, before stopping at a door that had a different doorknob. The moment she recognised the knob, she felt chills running down her spine- that was the doorknob to her grandmother’s hospital room.

Her inner self fought between two options: to open or not to open. In the end though, as a tribute to her furiously curious younger self, she chose the former.

The doorknob felt familiar under her grasp, they reminded her of the hours she spent staring at and examining the intricate engravings on it, although it wasn’t anything extraordinarily priced, she knew of the sentimental value it held. Well, those times are long gone.

With all that she had left, she turned the doorknob around and pushed for it to open. Cautiously, she let go of the doorknob and stepped inside, only to be met with the very thing she had spent her whole life attempting to forget, to push away like some toy.

That day.

That day was still ingrained in her mind, even now.

Skipping cheerfully, Venia made her way through the hospital halls she knew so dearly, occasionally greeting hospital staff since she came so frequently; to her, it felt like a second home.

“Mama(麻麻)! It’s my 18th birthday today, and I wanted to stop by to celebrate it with the best person in the world!!” She grinned ear to ear, making her way to the bedside chair, she noticed something strange.

Her grandmother didn’t act like her usual self, every time she visited, she would greet her; it was a routine. “Oh mama, as funny as always,” She leaned down, hand hovering over the covers,” you’re pretending to sleep, aren’t you?” Tugging the standard tetradic covers that consisted of yellow, green, blue and grey, she was met with her grandmother’s form.

Her sleeping form remained motionless as she lay on the hospital bed, seemingly in eternal peace. Her lips were left slightly agape, so little that she only sees a sliver of white underneath. She wore a peaceful expression, although littered with wrinkles that came from decades of taxing problems- it will stay on her face for the rest of her days. Her cheekbones were as clear as day in the faint glow of the early light, her skin a ghostly pale, contrary to her normal vibrant self.

Venia shook her head in denial, lifting her head to read the patient monitor that beeped in the background, she didn’t understand. “The monitor’s still beeping- you should be fine- mama!” Holding out to touch her grandmother, she froze upon contact. Her hand felt cold, akin to the feeling of her grandmother’s doorknob in her hands during winter...

“No- no… she’s- she’s not dead.”

Venia couldn’t handle it anymore, shaking her head as she backed away from the materialised memory in front of her. So, she did what she did best. She ran.

Huffing and puffing, she ran for her life- anything to get away.

Tripping and falling, she landed on the floor. Strangely enough, she felt no pain from the impact.

As she tried to sit up as globs of tears fell, she was met with a pair of eyes full of curiosity.

“Venia?” She gaped at the little girl, she had wild black shoulder-length hair, with almond shaped eyes.

The little girl stared at Venia as a flurry of emotions went through her mind, eyebrows raised animatedly, “How did you know my name, mysterious person?!”

“A-ah well, I saw you in a photo once!” She replied with hesitance.

She hummed to herself, before raising a brow, “Why are you in my room though?”

Upon realising she was indeed in her childhood room, her eyes went wide in disbelief.

“Oh terribly sorry! I- I’m not sure either..” Venia chuckled nervously to herself as she felt the ground with her hands.

“No worries!” Her younger self chirped, and with a twirl of her preppy skirt, she silently bent down to her knees to help her older self up.

With a grunt, she got up on her knees, she swore she heard a few bones crack.

Watching her younger self skip across her bedroom, she’s painfully reminded of the days when she did the very same thing with her grandmother.

She remembers the times when she and her grandmother would make flower crowns in the flowery fields, or when she ran across the fields dotted with wild daisies, tailed by her grandmother, exhorting her to not trample the flowers.

Smiling to herself, she feels a small ache in her chest.

Her younger self looked at Venia with an expectant look while she patted the edge of her bed, motioning for her to sit. Obliging, she made her way towards the edge of the bed.

“Miss mysterious person, I have a question,” She announced and looked at her boldly.

“Yes?”

Pointing at her face, she enquired, “Why are you crying? Is anything wrong?”

“Weell-” Stretching out her words, she rubbed at the back of her neck, “it’s a long story.”

Her younger self piped up, “It’s okay! I won’t pry.” She added, “Mama always says not to pry whenever someone says,” holding up her fingers in an air quotation, “ ‘it’s a long story’. Since that means they have something to hide!”

Venia rolled her eyes in mock annoyance, before hitting her younger self’s shoulder gently, “Hey!”

“ Is mama wrong though??” She giggled, before sitting up straight and turning towards the woman next to her, “Can I confess something?”

Venia perked up, and nodded slowly, “Go ahead..”

Taking it as a signal to move on, heaved a sigh and slumped her shoulders, earning a raised brow from her.

“How do I say this..” she held her chin in her hand, and not long afterwards, an idea popped up in her head.

Now to phrase the feeling…, she thought to herself.

With lots of effort, she finally spit out the sentence she had been wanting to say in her 8 years of living. “I feel so stressed out!!” She blurted out, before holding her head in her hands. Like a key turning in its lock, she revealed more and more sworn secrets to this stranger- she wasn’t sure why she was so trusting of this person.

After 30 minutes of venting, the little girl concluded, “I feel so lonely sometimes, the only friend I have is my mama…” she sobbed, “Mum and dad don’t even care about me!”

“I-I’m sorry, I only brought pain and suffering to your future, I’m worthless-“

Baby Venia felt surprised at the sudden apology, but due to a realisation, she laughed and smiled towards her older self.

Her slightly curved smile gave a sense of sincerity, “It’s okay, I forgive you! I think you’re good enough anyways, my mama always said, ‘No one thinks as badly of you, as you do of yourself. I’m proud of you’.”

Just right when that sentence was spoken, everything turned black as Venia felt herself get sucked into an endless void.

Ringing… ringing….. wait- ringing?

Venia sat up abruptly, before blinking a few times to adjust to her surroundings, mumbling to herself, “Wait.. isn’t this where I fell…?”

She shook her head and paid that thought no mind, before jumping towards the grassy fields and filling the empty air with laughter- childlike laughter that she couldn’t

Butterflies appeared in her stomach as they fluttered around and around- a new feeling that she welcomed graciously, as the thought echoed and reverberated in her head.

“No one thinks as badly of you, as you do of yourself. I’m proud of you.”

1. Is a kiss considered cheating? Yes! Unless you’ve communicated with your partner that it’s okay.

2. Have you ever faked an orgasm? Nope

3. If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Hmmm this is a really hard decision. I usually say telepathy, but I like shapeshifting, too. I loved the Animorphs books as a kid, even though I didn’t read them all.

4. Do you think you are going to be rich in 7-8-9 years? Monetarily? Nah. But I like to think I’ll still have strong, rich friendships and I think I’ll have enough money to live comfortably alone.

5. Tell us some funny drunk story. I just don’t really have one rip. Drunk people are hilarious but normally I’m the DD. I’ve got several pleasant stories, though! There was a time me and my best friend went to a pub and drank cider and played board games and video games until closing time. Afterwards we stopped at an Insomnia cookies, a storm caused the electricity to go out, and we got a half dozen cookies for free. (well, I felt guilty, so I left them a very large tip.)

6. Why are you no longer together with your ex? I was going through college, it was long distance, and I felt he deserved better. We keep in touch, though.

7. If you had to choose one way to die, what would it be? Well, painlessly, of old age, in my sleep, of course. But if that’s not an option, out of all the ways of dying, freezing to death seems the most humane. You just get tired, cold, and sleepy, and then you just...don’t wake up.

8. What are your current goals? Graduate, mostly. Long-term I’d like to live with friends in a big house and my cat, and have enough free time to garden and craft at my leisure, and have the ability to travel wherever I’d like. I’d like to work on a game or movie I’m really passionate about, and I’d love to become a director someday.

9. Do you like someone? I mean, I like a lot of people, but I assume this means romantically. So, kind of? I find a lot of people attractive and have a ‘if they wanted to date I’d be down’ feeling, but I don’t have serious feelings for anybody specific.

10. Who was the last person to disappoint you? Hmmm I have a terrible memory. Myself, perhaps? I have a really hard time with getting up when my alarms go off. Sleep inertia’s a big problem for me. This has led to me being late to classes and rushing to get ready, which is stressful.

11. Do you like your body? Ehhhh. I guess. It could be improved, like by not having health issues.

12. Can you keep a diet? Ha! No.

25. Are grades in school important? I admit that they’re important to me, but that’s something I have to unlearn. My worth isn’t determined by other people.

26. Describe your crush. Ugh. I’m bi, guys. I get crushes on people all the time, every day. Saw this really pretty redhead in the cafeteria over a month ago, and I saw her again yesterday. She’s a couple inches taller than me and has really pretty curly hair, but I didn’t really, like, stare, so I couldn’t describe her face well past ‘cute nose’.

27. What was the last book/movie that really impressed you? Nothing jumps to mind. I guess I’m still falling over myself after seeing Mad Max back in like 2015, that was just the coolest experience ever. I find delight in just about every movie I watch, though. The second Jumanji-sequels movie was just as fun and amazing as the first. Klaus was just incredible in so many ways.

28. What was your last lie? I...really just do not remember. Probably telling myself “I’m gonna do my laundry today” a few days ago? Whereas I DID do my laundry today so HA

29. Dumbest lie you ever told? I saved this question for last and it’s late and I honestly can’t remember anything, asdjls sorry. My memory’s awful y’all.

30. Is crying in front of people embarrassing? Oh absolutely. I mean it wouldn’t be if they weren’t uncomfortable with it, but they always are.

31. Something you did and you are proud of? I did my laundry today? washed dried folded and everything. I also braved the nighttime neighborhood around my school to solo a Pokemon raid, which was cool. I’m proud of my animation done at the end of the last semester, and of how my teddy bear modelling is doing this week.

32. What’s your favourite cocktail? How am I supposed to choose this? How can you ask me to choose this? I’d have to line them all up and try one by one, honestly, before I could tell you.

33. Something you are good at? I’m pretty good at drawing anatomy and expressions, I think. I’m good at baking/cooking, although I lack creativity in the kitchen. I also think I’m a pretty good listener, and a good friend?

34. Do you like small kids? Most of the time!

35. How are you feeling right now? Frankly, a little drained with all these questions, but determined to finish them. I’m a little hungry. I’ve got a lot on my mind, and wish I was doing homework, but I also can’t get myself to do it right now.

40. What was the last gift you gave? I gave my sibling @ aconfusedbird a keychain of one of the two Bubble Bobble dragons and kept the other for myself, for their birthday. Handmade from Perler beads. We’d play that game for ages as kids, and we always fought over who’d be the blue one.

41. What was the last concert you went to? I think it was The Shins? They were so awesome!

42. Favourite place to shop at? Well, I quite like Target. But I also adore small resale shops. They always have some really awesome things hiding there.

43. Who inspires you? Oogh, a lot of people. Like a million and a half artists I’ve met online, ones I only know their screenname for, inspire me to get better at art. James Baxter and Sergio Pablos inspire me to get better at animation. Wefflebugs’ art always has such lovely colors, which I adore. featherdragon15′s art has gotten a lot better lately, and that inspires me to keep working hard too! Not to mention they’re working for nasa which is rad af, and also inspires me to keep working toward my dreams. My sibling aconfusedbird inspires me a Lot in a lot of personal ways, like to be more kind to myself and to keep moving forward. My mom inspires me to keep gardening. roachpatrol/roach-works inspired me to get into welding, lizardlicks inspired me into wanting chickens and a small homestead. My teachers inspire me to keep working hard in school.

44. How old were you when you first got drunk? 19, I think? I’ve only gotten properly drunk once. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat another boiled peanut, but other than that it wasn’t a problem lol.

45. How old were you when you first got high? I haven’t, actually. I don’t have a reason not to or anything, but it’s just never felt like the right vibe yanno?

46. How old were you when you first had sex? I guess it really depends on your definition. Personally, I’d say I haven’t yet.

I guess I’m scared of...hm. people who just lack the ability to create bonds with people? people who don’t care about other living things. humans can be fucking terrifying.

53. What kind of books do you read? Oh, just about anything. Fantasy, realistic fiction, romance, mysteries, thrillers, scifi...all are great. I didn’t used to enjoy nonfiction but it really depends on the nonfiction.

54. What would you tell your 12 year old self? You’re going to have a best friend someday, and it will be everything you wanted. Things with your mother will improve when you’re in your last few years of high school. You’re going to become a great artist.

55. What is your favourite flower? Not sure! I like many. There was this one flower i found in high school that smelled incredible, but I’ve no idea what it was. I should find it again.

56. Any bad habits you have? ...Well. Not waking up when my alarm goes off is pretty annoying. My procrastination in general’s frustrating. And, well, just between you, me, and the rest of the internet, (tw: self harm) my trichotillomania causes me constant distress and anxiety.

57. What kind of people are you attracted to? People who want to learn new things, are kind and compassionate, respect me, and have a good sense of humor. Someone I can be adventurous with.

58. What was the last thing you cried for? Well, i answered a similar question earlier, so I’ll answer for the second most recent time I cried. I was in Pennsylvania, the day I had to fly home, and when I went to check in for my flight, all the seats were taken, and I needed to pay for an upgrade if I wanted to guarantee a spot on the flight. This wouldn’t be a huge problem, except that for both of my flights to get home, an upgrade cost $70. And seventy dollars was a big chunk out of my budget for, you know, food. So I cried out of stress and frustration with the airport companies for charging me seventy bucks for ten more inches of legroom that I didn’t want nor need.

59. Is there something you don’t eat? Some food that truly disgust you? Not really! In terms of what’s normally accepted as “food” in American society, that is. I don’t care much for worms or insects. Other than that, I’m interested enough to try almost anything once.

60. Are you in love? In love? No. Am I full of love? Yes, for many, many, many things.

61. Something you find romantic? Oh man, anything could be romantic if done by someone I care for. I think gentleness is romantic. Quality time is my love language, so if my partner cancelled plans to spend time with me, that’d be romantic. I find romance in trying new things and going to new places.

62. How long was your longest relationship? Four months or so. It’s the only relationship I’ve been in, though, and I hadn’t intended for it to go past summer, so that was longer than I’d even planned on haha.

63, 64. What are 3 things that irritate you about the same sex? Opposite sex? Uhhh kind of hard to answer this one. I mean, i hate the culture in which men are raised to be, but I’ve heard that ‘male’ and ‘female’ brains aren’t particularly predisposed to anything in particular? Like, both men and women are capable of emotional intelligence and compassion, it’s just that our culture doesn’t encourage it in men.

65. What are you saving money for? Food, college. I might treat myself to a school trip to Disney, but I don’t think I have the budget rn. As a student I’m kind of coasting by on the bare minimum rn, I don’t have anything i CAN save up for.

66. How would you describe your bad side? I mostly just avoid you or try to not spend time with you.

67. Are you actually a good person? Why? I think I am. I care about other people and try to make other people’s lives easier and happier. I try every day to become more sensitive to other perspectives. I do what I can to benefit the earth for those who will come after me.

68. What are you living for? Ooh, deep stuff. I’m living for helping other people. I’m living for my friends and family.

69 (nice). Have you ever done anything illegal? Pfft, guys, jaywalking is illegal. So yes. I’ve also drank while underage before. But nothing really big, no.

70. Do you like your body? Wait a second. This was number 11, too. Well, I guess I’ll change it to What don’t you like about your body? Which is my under-chin. It’s kind of a double chin, kind of not. But while most things I could change about my body, I don’t think I could change that without surgery. And yeah, I’ve thought about it. Not that I have any of the cash for it. I also wish I didn’t have (tw: self-harm) trichotillomania, so I’d have more eyelashes and eyebrows.

71. Have you ever made someone feel bad about themselves intentionally? I think I probably have, to douchebags. Like “hey, that’s inappropriate”.

76. Do you play any computer games? What is your favourite game? lmao uh, that’s kind of an understatement. I can’t list all my favorite games, but I’m very fond of The Last of Us. I have played. So many video games. I’ll chat about them anytime!

77. Favourite TV series? Avatar: The Last Airbender, I think. It’s really hard to top that.

78. Are you religious? Does God exist? Not really religious, no. I do think that there’s probably a god out there that sparked the Big Bang. I don’t really follow the Christian God because despite what every church service said, I never felt like He loved me. Jesus was a super cool guy, though. If there’s a god out there, I think they pretty much keep to themselves. Maybe have some fun watching creation, but don’t really interact with it at all.

79. What was the last book you read? Did it impress you and why? asdkfj;as i don’t remember. probably my textbook Directing the Story by Francis Glebas? It was a pretty cool book about moviemaking.

87. Meaning behind your blog name? I’ve had this one for many years now. I really like the word ‘saccharine’ -- inspired by @ saccharinesylph back in the old days -- and i couldn’t just name myself ‘saccharine’, so i needed something else. and I was pretty big into Good Omens at that time, and I was like ‘haha! saccharine, good, omens. saccharine omens!’ Plus, it feels like a very positive and comforting name, and I strive to be a comforting person.

88. What are you scared of? ok i def answered this moving on

89. Last time you were insulted? uhhhhhhhhh no idea. oh, wait! i know. i was getting graded on my performance at my job late last year and i disagreed with the grade my boss gave me. It was like ‘person shows considerable care of their community and goes above and beyond to educate others’ and i was like ‘oh yeah that’s, like, my whole Thing, my whole Goals and Personality and Ideals’ and then my boss came in and was like ‘2/4′ and i was like ‘wtf??’ Apparently she felt that i just wasn’t really applying that part of myself to my job, and i was like ‘you serious? i’m doing a lot!’ but also she’s my boss.

90. Most traumatic experience? A series of emotionally/mentally abusive things my mom did during my childhood. It’s definitely had the longest lasting effects of any trauma. Permanent anxiety problems, ptsd, my self harm, the whole shebang. Don’t worry, though, like. Things are way better between us, and she’s apologized many times.

91. Perfect date idea? Going on a hike! Maybe walking on a beach. Just spending time together and talking. Eating some delicious food. Spending the entire day with each other, then curling up and cuddling at home and watching a movie. then talking some more. lots of handholding and kisses. im a super hopeless romantic.

92. Favourite app on your phone? the internet, ofc lmao. But other than that I use Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and Pokemon Go an awful lot.

93. What colour are the walls in your room? At school a boring white, although I’ve taped some art up. At home a really pretty light blue color that I did all myself.

94. Do you watch Youtube? Who is your favourite youtuber? I do! And I like so many channels, honestly. I really like Rachel and Jun, and I really like Pop Culture Detective. I’ve seen a lot of jackscepticeye’s stuff, too. Proko, Vox, and Sinix Design are all good too.

96. What is the meaning of life? To be happy, enjoy yourself, and love others!

97. Do you like horror movies? Ha ha ha, not really. I liked A Quiet Place though.

98. Have you ever made your mum cry? What happened? She’s cried sometimes over how she treated us in the past. Sometimes it happens because I talk about how she’s hurt me. She always expresses regret and apologizes again.

99. Do you feel lucky or special in a way? I feel lucky with how I met my best friend. We’d had band together and kind of both thought each other as a cool person, but we didn’t really hit it off until a couple years later and she saw me drawing Homestuck fanart in Psychology lmao. The rest is history. Love you so much, Haley. I feel lucky my mom realized she was being abusive and stopped, too. Not everyone gets that.

100. Can you keep a secret? Oh, definitely. But do tell me what needs to be secret, otherwise I won’t know. For example, my sib asked me to keep their gf busy while they bought her a present, so I tried, but then she was like ‘oh, where’s your sibling? we should find them’ i was like ‘oh no, i think they’re just buying something, it’s fine’ but she was stubbornly moving toward the checkout and i was like ‘stop, i think they’re buying something for you’ so i. kinda told a secret? i didn’t tell her what the present was though.

AMA Transcript: Simple Melody

For our final AMA of Resbang 2017, @alliope, @bbbutterfingers & @daciafu stopped in to answer questions about their Resbang, Simple Melody! Here’s some of what went down:

Q: My first question for Allie is what inspired you to do this AU?

Allie: Well I've generally had the idea for an Over the Garden Wall AU for a while, not necessarily for SE, but as the first check-ins deadline was approaching I ended up rewatching bits of Over the Garden Wall and it just kinda clicked? Mainly I think it came from Crona's betrayal and Beatrice's betrayal and everything fell into place from there. I thought the eerie atmospheres would work well together! So I ended up scrapping my previous idea and wrote 3k plus a summary like three days before the first check-ins, rip.

Q: For butter/dacia, what went into how you decided which scene(s) to art?

butterfingers: HM well there was some chitchat when we started about what kind of work we wanted to do and I said that I loved the Boom comics covers, and then I shouted WHAT IF I MADE COMIC BOOK COVERS! and I think Dacia went WHAT IF I DID BACKGROUNDS and I guess we just approached it as if we were doing something comic-y haha!

Allie: You two were the power duo.

daciafu: I've always been in love with the style of the backgrounds of OTGW since that's where all those cozy and spooky feelings of fall and the Unknown really shine and I'm honestly HORRIBLE at designing backgrounds so I wanted to take the challenge and push myself to get better! Mimicking other people's styles really helps me break down how they make their choices and teaches me how to make things look Decent so I was super hyped to pick up the OTGW style! And then when Butters and I were trying to figure out What Do and she said she wanted to tackle covers, I decided to do background-heavy scenes. 😊

Q: What is generally your guys’ process (writing for Allie and arting for butters and dacia)?

Allie: Well, I wrote in little scenes, like I would get an idea for a scene and just go for it, the fic wasn't at all coherent until maybe a few days before posting. This actually posed a problem since linking scenes took longer than I thought it would. Because I had most of my scenes written, I thought I had more finished than I really did. By the end of Resbang, I had 56k written but only 20k remotely post-able. I'm a super obsessive planner though, so my whole fic was outlined in detail early on, which was nice cause I knew what I was doing lol

butterfingers: I loved going through Allie's notes, I was always excited to see how they'd connect the dots! My art process is as follows: scribble something, put it aside, look at it a lot throughout the day with the thought that maybe I can surprise myself into seeing something new, find something I hate, fix it, rinse and repeat. For this project I actually... have a friend who works with Boom Comics and she was able to hook me up with a nice little gallery of illustrations for the OTGW comic so I got to go through and put together my mood board for it 😊

daciafu: I read over the gloriousness that was Allie's draft and immediately picked out some neat scenes or wanted to reimagine the classic OTWG ones. I spent a lot of time studying first! Looking at the art books, and poring over the show’s scenes and kind of getting a feel for the color palettes, textures and compositions. Then I watched a tutorial on Youtube where someone just deadass uploaded their painting process on a piece of official art that made it into the show. So that was EXTREMELY helpful to watch the way they painted back-to-front and kind of blended the planes without like, losing depth?? The internet is so, so wonderful. And then I got to work! Started with a soft brush for lineart so it wouldn't be too prevalent, moved onto base colors, then shading, and then really trying to establish textures and make the atmosphere Just Right(tm).

butterfingers: Genius!! Oh damn that sounds like such great advice vis à vis backgrounds. /takes notes

Q: You sound like the dream art partner Allie, I weep for my artists and my last minute HERE IS 10K I JUST TYPED UP BC IM A MESS.

Allie: Ahh geez, these two were the dream partners honestly, like I'm so glad they could gather stuff from my notes, cause I've always got everything together in my head, but then it gets out there and it's a mess, these two deserve all the love.

butterfingers: There was one thing I regret that I didn't have the chance to draw and it was like a throwaway line somewhere in your notes about Maka presenting Soul with a praying mantis and him freaking out. I resonated with that so hard hahaha.

Q: What was the hardest scene for you to write?

Allie: The hardest scene to write that's actually posted was anything with Justin really, I don't get his character and it was tough to write him. There were a few scenes that were hard to write because I rushed them, but I wouldn't say they were genuinely difficult scenes, I just gotta rewrite 'em! But overall the ending scene I'm still struggling to write and there's a dream scene that occurs which has been difficult to write just for making it dream-like enough?

Q: And what was the hardest to art? :o

butterfingers: I had a hard time with Maka's expressions. I had many scribbles designing a Ragnarok lantern, too, but it was very fun!!

Allie: Your design for the Ragnarok lantern was so good, I still cry over it.

butterfingers: Ahaha thank you! He was very Calcifer inspired ;)

daciafu: I struggled quite a bit with the first one I painted, just because it was all so new to me. I had to base color 3 different times because the soft lineart bothered me if something extended too far, or there was white background peeking through. And then reimagining the texture in the leaves and the ground to try to separate the planes there but also wanting them to be cohesive was a bit of a headache. If I had to go back and do that one over again I think I'd be more prepared to deal with the foliage lmao.

butterfingers: Your textures were very excellent, that was a quality I struggled with as well!

daciafu: The first one I painted was the Golden Light scene where Maka and Soul are leaving the woods and entering the fields.

butterfingers: Trees r hard.

Allie: They all came out so incredible though, I'm in awe of how you were able to create those leaves.

daciafu: Omg ;;;;; At the same time trees are so organic and flowy and the chances of getting them wrong are pretty slim considering they can get janked as hell lol they're super fun to just zone out to. "I’ll just put a happy little leaf here, ooh and how’s about another one right next to it. They can be happy friends. Oh look, the squad showed up!!" Channeling my inner Bob Ross... but yeah you can just do whatever with them and they somehow come together.

Q: Daciafu how do u.....background, like you did so well and all I hear from art friends is various levels of pterodactyl screeching when the word background is mentioned.

daciafu: I heavily based the Leafing the Forest scene and the church scene after stills from the show so I don't get composition points there, but I built the pumpkin fields just based off of the environment’s design elements. I really wanted to push the depth of that scene but also give it that same never-ending quality to it, and I'm super happy with the results. Another note is that I omitted the characters entirely while building the backgrounds. Since I'm usually a pretty character-heavy artist, I wanted to tackle it like I was preparing the scene for an animator later. And then once they were done, I added in our sweet kids. Doing it that way first really helped to cement the characters in the space rather than my usual "character is done, how can I put them in an interesting physical space?" struggle lmao.

Q: Did you guys feel like your writing/arting changed at all or that you learned anything/picked up new skills/honed old ones etc. etc. during Resbang?

Allie: Gosh yeah, it changed a lot. In hindsight a bad idea, but this was the first fic I'd ever written with intention of posting and the longest piece I'd ever written. Before this I had written very little and my longest piece was maybe 10k. Throughout Resbang I've learned most of everything from the ground up, it's taught me a lot about my limits, how I work and writing in general. I've definitely improved a lot from the experience!

butterfingers: Let me tell you all about the airbrush tool that I discovered during Resbang. Amazing. Incredible.

daciafu: I learned how to paint backgrounds!!! Which is something I've always wanted to get better at. And I got super comfortable in Clip Studio (I'd just gotten it) as well as using texture brushes, so overall it was a very helpful and wonderful experience as a Resbang participant and as an arteest.

Q: Oh that reminds me butters, what program do you use?

butterfingers: Paint Tool SAI for the most part, and then Photoshop for color correction, borders, and, like, finesse things! :)

Q: Did you guys listen to any music that inspired you or helped you create?

If you want I can explain some bits of it? I use music a lot when writing aha. I like to associate certain songs with characters and character relationships, so most of the songs are connected to a particular part of the story. The Monroe Transfer, Wayfaring Stranger, and Mountains were all more general atmosphere stuff. Blame was very much related to Maka, which may not be apparent now, but yeah. Ragnarok I actually connected a lot with Willow Tree March. Soul was probably closest with A Lady. Crona had a lot of songs, but Neptune was most specific to them, as was probably Ghost Towns. Some character relationships I associated with certain songs, Crona-Ragnarok and Soul-Maka were both pretty connected to Always Gold, especially that dang last line "there were holes in you, the kind that I could not mend" oh man. Crona-Maka was definitely We Could Be Friends, Bloom, and Spell. Meet Me in The Woods I thought was a pretty good group song! Those are just some general bits of my thinking with the music aha.

daciafu: Definitely checked out Allie's dope playlist. For most of my working time, tho, I was either listening to TAZ: Commitment or MBMBaM oddly enough lol. I will forever think of Justin's uproarious laughter whenever I look at them lmao.

Q: Were any of the relationships difficult to characterize?

Allie: Mmm this may sound weird but early Maka-Crona was weird for me, cause they were kinda at that point where they want to (or at least Maka wants to) like each other, but they don’t like or trust each other at all and it's a weird spot for them. I'm used to writing them as at least interested by one another, if not enemies or already fond of one another, so this felt like a very odd place to start with them.

Q: Do you guys have future plans for writing/drawing? Aside from polishing and posting the rest of the fic!

Allie: I have,,, too many plans,, I need less plans,, someone please take them away from me, I can't be trusted with them,,,, I do want to do a sequel for this when I get it finished, playing on the detail about crows memory lasting five years so. Beyond that I have a SoMa fic to finish for the prompt challenge!! I'm working on a gift for Crescentcrona, which is a fantasy Kirona fic called Eat The Rich. I have polyam week fics that I'm cleaning up, I think my favorite so far is a Azusa/Naigus/Sid/Mifune one for Through The Seasons. And God I have so many CroMa fics I want to write, I gotta fill the AO3 tag. I think the biggest one right now is a wings-related soulmates au that I've been working on on the side since October I think?

daciafu: Yo there's one scene that I'm like sUPER hyped to do if Allie does the sequel because I already know exactly how I wanna draw it but I wasn't able to fit that in near the end, and it didn't end up in the first part. But there are a couple of other scenes Allie and I workshopped that would be super fun to do and I would love to draw them. Other than that, my drawing plans are pretty much working on commissions as they come in. Surprisingly my queue has been maxed out and I just got a full time job so of course now I'm like.... hm.... I'll get 'em done eventually!!

Dustin gets spiked. Sorry for the shitty ending... i remembered it was supposed to be a drabble TW: super vague mentionsof intent to rape

“I won’t go, if you don’t want me to,” Dustin said, for thefifth time, glancing back at where he knew Lucas was stood, just staring. Heshook out of his daze and shrugged.

“No, go! You should go! I’m just… not sure about him.” Hesaid, still confused within himself at why he didn’t want Dustin going out. They’dbeen together for 4 years, he knew the younger boy would not be leaving him forthis guy, but he still felt off about the whole thing.

“Dude, his father is a director. He said he saw potential in me. I can’t pass that up!” Dustincontinued, putting down his comb and getting up from the dresser to approachwhere Lucas was still stood, crossed armed.

“I know, babe, I know.” He replied, pulling Dustin closeonce he was within reach, so they were both pressed against the wall, “I know...I can’t help if I worry about you,”

“I’ll be fine! I’ll text you the whole way. If he triesanything. I’ll bite him, and Dart will sense my pain and come running,” Almoston cue Dart started howling from his cage, Lucas smiled over at him fondly andDustin heart swelled at the amount of love Lucas had for Dart.

(He had squealed the first time he met him. “Oh my God. Hethinks he’s a wolf! Dustin, I love him,”)

Dustin still saw a bit of worry in Lucas’ expression.

“Fake dating someone isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever done,”Dustin murmured, then he growled, trying to lighten the mood, and it workedbecause Lucas’ concerned expression morphed into disgust. He pushed Dustin onthe shoulder and turned to walk away when he was caught by the waist and pulledback. Lucas struggled, trying not to concede too quickly.

“Boys who growl don’t deserve boyfriends,” He yelledobnoxiously

“No! baby, don’t leave me I’m sorry.” Lucas finally laughed,spinning around in his boyfriend arms, he placed his hands on Dustin’sshoulders.

“How sorry?” he asked cheekily.

“ooh, let me show you,” Dustin replied, wiggling hiseyebrows, Lucas rolled his eyes but kissed him anyway.

He obviously didn’t go to the door when Dylan came around topick Dustin up, they could have played it like he was a roommate but Lucasdidn’t need any reason to feel jealous and do something stupid like kiss Dustinto assert his masculinity. He was fine just watching from the upstairs window.

He did get a text soon after he left

8.33 – Dustin: I toldyou, you were hotter. Nothing to worry about *lennyface*

Lucas couldn’t help his laughter.

“Fucking loser,” he murmured heading to the bedroom, he andDustin had set up a pretty decent fort before he had to leave, and Lucas wasn’tjust going to let it go to waste. He had only seen Black Panther once… thisweek. It was time to watch it again.

He let Dart out and the small husky immediately jumped athim,

“Okay boy, c’mon let’s go watch some black excellence,” heyipped as if he understood and followed him back to the bedroom, settling inbeside him and licking at his face. He laughed and snuggled up close as hepressed play.

Turns out he didn’t have time to feel bad or have anyworried thoughts about Dustin and Dylan because he was getting constant textupdates. At least every 15 minutes.

9.07 – Dustin: You may have to watch your back babe. Dylan’s got anextensive Pokémon collection.

9.07 – Lucas: DnD is better. It’s okay, I’ll date Will

9.10 – Dustin: Don’t you dArE

Lucas giggled and turned to show the messages to dart, whoyapped, recognising the small icon as Dustin. He headbutted the screen.

“Who would get you in the divorce?” he asked, “Me or yourdaddy?”

Dart yapped once. Lucas nodded.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” Lucas focused back on thefilm till he felt his phone go off again.

9.23 – Dustin: Damn, Pokémon and a rugby player. Get you a man that doesboth amirite? Why don’t you ever offer me your jersey?

9.25 – Lucas: We don’t have jerseys you idiot, but you can wear mygross basketball shirt anytime!

9.25 – Dustin: mmhmboyfriend sweat. Rawr

Fucking loser, Lucas thought fondly as he led Dart back tohis cage and fed him dinner, he refilled the water bowl before locking him in. Hewould usually let him roam, but he wasn’t currently aware enough to take goodcare of him (Dart fucking loved to escape, and Lucas was too tired to go outsearching – plus it was dark). He didn’t want to fall asleep and wake up andhave him gone. Dustin would genuinely murder him.

He returned to another text.

9.31 – Dustin: he puts pineapple on his pizza. At this point I maynever come back babe byefelicia.gif

Lucas just rolled his eyes, pressing play on the movie. DamnDaniel Kaluuya was nice to look at, even if his character was an idiot.

There wasn’t another text for a while but at this pointLucas wasn’t even worried anymore. He actually felt sorry for Dylan because hewas sure Dustin was spending more time on his phone that paying attention tohim.

10.00 – Dustin: Yikes well he just asked me to come back to his placeto take some headshots for his dad… that sound like a proposition to me…thoughts?

Lucas bit his lip, contemplating, he didn’t want Dustin tomiss out on any opportunities because of him. But he also did not want Dustingoing over to this guys house. He trusted his boyfriend, definitely but hecouldn’t speak for the other guy. He must have been thinking for too longbecause another text came in soon after.

10.03 – Dustin: I’m taking that as a no.,, I thought as much, justwanted to cross check. I’m in the bathroom now so I’ll just go back out, downmy drink and say I have to head home. The fort still up babe?

10.04 – Lucas: I never want to take it down.

Lucas sniggers and places his phone down in the bedsidetable. He really, really didn’t want Dustin going home with Dylan – so he washappy. He went downstairs to go refill his popcorn and ran into Stan, one oftheir roommates cleaning up. He held back the urge to roll his eyes. He lovedStan, really – but that boy loved to clean.

Lucas tried his hardest, all the time, he ready did, but he wasstill learning how to live with someone with OCD and wasn’t sure what to do.

“Hey dude, do you wanna come up and watch Shrek with me?” heasked. Stan kept scrubbing – a bit frantically.

“No, No I, uh, I have a date with Richie in 30 minutes,but,” he paused, breathing frantically, “I can’t leave until it’s clean,” hefinished. Lucas nodded, out of his comfort zone. He wished Dustin was here.Dustin was fucking amazing at calming Stan down.

“Okay, I’ll help. We can get this done in like 10!” Lucasoffered, placing the bowl down.

“Really? Thank you, thanks!” Stan shoved some cleaning materialshis way and Lucas chuckled, getting to work on the dishes.

Lucas and Stan manged to clean up in 20 minutes leaving Stan10 to freshen up and get out the door. He was pretty proud of himself. Hesorted his popcorn and ran back up, swearing when he realised he didn’t pauseit.

“Can’t miss Shrek, this film is iconic,” he whispered tohimself, laughing at his own joke. As he rewound the film he noticed his phoneflashing and remembered Dustin. It was coming close to half ten- he was probablytexting to say he was close by. Lucas picked up his phone to check

10.10 – Dustin: Bill paid, walking to the car! Keep the fort warm forme!

10.12 – Dustin: Luca I don’t feel god,,, Cld you make msome soup for,,

10.15 – Dustin: he lockd the doors and im sleep

Lucas’ heart dropped, and he felt his vision tunnel as thesound of the film faded into the background. He must have read that wrong or hewas misinterpreting.

10.15 – Dustin: this isn the way hoe…. Hes not takjin me home. Imscared

This was not happening. This was not happening. Not to Dustin. Not his boy.

10.16 – Dustin: oh my g,

10.16 – Dustin: I think;; he spiked me.

10.16 – Dustin: I thi he spik my coke

Lucas stopped reading the text and looked at the time. Itwas 10.34. This had happened almost 20 minutes ago. He was such a badboyfriend. Anything could be happening. His mind was going wild with possibilities.Anything could be happening. Heneeded to find Dustin and get to him but, no car, they had no car. How could he--?He had to—Steve! Steve had a car. He was a three-minute bike ride away.

Lucas’ mind was made in an instant.

He ran down, stumbling on the stairs and quickly openingSnap-maps to find Dustin. He located him and sped down to Steve’s, it was dangerousbecause he was nervous, his hands were shaking, and he couldn’t really see. Healmost got hit multiple times, but it was worth it for his boy.

He banged on Steve’s door obnoxiously and repeatedly till hecame down. He was in pyjamas, but Lucas didn’t have the heart to make fun ofhim for going to bed to early.

Steve took in his state and expression and his frown lightenedup.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, grabbing his car keys from the standin preparation.

“Dustin—I – I can’t. It’s all my fault, spiked— his drinkgot spiked. We- we need to go. 16 Pembrooke Drive. Steve now, Steve! He spiked him!!Anything could be—he could be— oh god!” Lucas didn’t even know when he begancrying, he was so frustrated and couldn’t believe he was wasting so much time.Dustin had been alone and out of it with the guy for at least half an hour. Whoknows what was happening?

Luckily Steve seemed to understand and nodded solemnly,

“Get in,” he said, beeping the car open and speeding off assoon as they were both in. He inputted the directions into the satnav. Lucas reluctantlywent back to Dustin’s texts

10.13 – Dustin: Sorry, I sosrry, so sorry,. ‘’; I cahkgkn’t

10.13 – Dustin: u wer rit; I sorry ii lovv . I cant ;’kgkjl

“Fuck,” he whispered, feeling more frustrated tears comepouring out, “fucking fuck,” he slammed his hand on the dashboard.

“Lucas, we’ll get there. He’ll be alright.”” Steve said, hisvoice calm and steady, contrasting his death grip on the steering wheel. Lucasdidn’t believe him.

They got there, and Lucas was tumbling out of the doorbefore the car had even come to a full stop, he distantly heard Steve reprimandinghim but just ran forward into the house, ramming the door with his shoulder. Hejumped back as pain flared up in his arm, but only took a moment to recover beforehitting it again and again.

“Shit, Lucas, step back,” Steve said, when he’d finallycaught up, pushing Lucas back and picking the lock.

They ran in to find a shirtless guy standing in front of thefridge, holding a bowl of grapes. Lucas felt anger flare up in his gut as hetook in his dishevelled hair and unclasped jeans. The guy frowned when theywalked in, taking a step back,

“Who the fuck are you? Why are you in my house?” He asked,

“Dylan Ffion?” Lucas asked, stalking towards him. The guy shrugged,dropping the grapes and crossing his arms defensively,

“Who’s asking?” Lucas reared back and decking him across theface. Groaning when he pulled his shoulder more and bruised his knuckles, thepunch wasn’t as hard as he would have liked but the shock factor helped him asthe guy flew back, clutching his nose. “What the fuck, dude?”

“Where’s Dustin?” he asked coldly, the guys eyes widened in realisation,but he quickly schooled his expression, grabbing a cloth to catch the bleeding.

“fuck! What are you a jealous ex? I don’t have to tell youshit about his dating life,” dating life,Lucas felt disgust grow in the pit of his stomach.

“Look, you fuck, Dustin texted me saying you drugged him,you piece of shit, so unless you want me to leave and go straight to thestation, you’ll tell me where he is and pray to God I find him in a decent condition.If I find that you’ve harmed a single fucking hair on his head, I’ll skin you.”He reeled off, stepping into the other guys personal space. He seemed tofinally be understanding how serious the situation was and began stutteringthrough an excuse.

“n-nah dude, you’ve got it wrong. I was j-just helping him. Hehad too much to drink and…” Lucas scoffed rolling his eyes and grabbing Dylan bythe collar, cutting off his spiel,

“Where. Is. he?”

“Upstairs, first room on the right,” he choked out just as Stevewas pulling Lucas off him,

“Dude you don’t wanna get done for assault, go get him. I’lldeal with this shithead,” he said, shooing him upstairs. Lucas heart was in histhroat as he ran up and to the room Dylan had said, he bit his lip when he sawDustin, passed out on the bed. He could almost pretend he was asleep form thisfar away, but upon approaching him he could see the faint tear tracks on hischeeks. His heart was in his throat as he approached the bed.

“Hey Dusty,” He said, gently shaking him, “Can you hear me,love?” Dustin groaned on the bed, his eyelids flickered, and his fingerstwitched. Lucas took his hand tightly, feeling his eyes tear up, “C’mon baby,wake up please,” he murmured, rubbing the back of his knuckles with his thumb. Allhe got in reply was another groan. He ripped of the blanket, cringing when hesaw his boyfriend was just in his underwear,

“Shit, Dust, where are your clothes?” he asked quietly,looking around the room. He grabbed a dressing gown, wrapping Dustin in it andpicking him up. On his way out, he noticed Dustin’s jeans on the floor, andgrabbed them as well.

“Steve can I have your keys?” he asked as they walked by theliving room.

“Fuck” Steve uttered when he turned around and saw Dustin inLucas’ arms, “Of course,” he threw him the keys and all Lucas could think as hemade his way back to the car was that he let his happen.

“Never again,” he whispered, kissing Dustin’s forehead, “Neveragain,”

no, that just doesn’t work out, especially with her being so short. she’d have to be above Aldente to strike her that way, and even so it’s still an extremely cumbersome way to do that. You can only really hold a knife backhandedly

ok so wow. this is really amazing. maybe im being extra-complementary cause i just finished SOJ but... wow. everything from the soft colours and gorgeous lighting to the excellent cinematography to the fluid, interesting character sprites, to the pretty orchestral remixes to the fun and engaging writing, to the spectacular cutscenes... its all just so excellent it feels like a friggin gale of fresh air compared to SOJ

and this game came out in 2012. thats four years before SOJ, and just one before DD, and yet the difference is staggering. i don’t know if its a budget thing, or if its the director’s fault, but theres just something about the animation and camera angles thats so much better. everything is so smooth– no character ever jumps from animation to animation– they slide into it naturally

and the slow pan-up on Aldente as she got cornered was pretty good at conveying a real sense of anxiety

plus, the fact that we don’t find out who tried to kill her is genuinely unsettling. PLvAA doesn’t need to be bloody or gorey to convey a sense of uneasiness or fear– just that lingering mystery of a fourth person– and where they disappeared to– is enough to give me the shivers. ...although it is 1 am and I'm prone to being nervey

i have only 2 tiny nitpicks, these being the sequencing of the music (cuts off very abruptly rather than fading away) and the odd way the dialogue halts all over the place for no reason

otherwise, sublime first case

ps- still love nick’s new voice. dreamy, if a little stiff
