Party Dress or Hostess Gown? A Lost Style at Augusta Auctions
One of the interesting things about fashion is how some types of garments or accessories fall our of our style vocabulary. See decorative dress clips, fanged and hinged in order to sit on the edge of a neckline or even a sleeve hem, for example. Clips once came in diamonds or in rhinestones, but now we find them only in antique stores and vintage shops.
Then. there is the hostess gown. Mary Brooks Picken defines in her The Language of Fashion dictionary from 1939 as “usually, formalized negligee simulating a dress” or less usually “formal lounging pajamas.“ These items were worn only at home, but when guests were present. Obviously, these were intimate friends, yet the occasion was more formal, such an a special brunch, or a quiet evening party.
Now, it is easy to see how the peach crepe dress with a standing shawl collar and interesting pleats below the shoulder line qualifies as a hostess gown. The coloring, the short sleeves, and the softness of the garment seem to say negligee, while the rhinestone buckle seems to say “party!”
The fuschia crepe may be a hostess gown, although there is something so military about the beadwork which shows up as epaulets that one cannot imagine it as a negligee. True, there is softness in the gathers below the bust, at the waistline of the skirt and in the gathered bishop sleeves. But there is something about those beads marching along the shoulders as well as along the V-neckline, and the cuffs, and the edges of the fake pockets that makes me see it more as a party dress. Europe had been at war since 1939, and had been militarizing before then, so features borrowed from men’s military grab, like epaulets were borrowed for women’s fashion. The 1940s always saw tailored suits and dresses with large shoulder pads, again borrowed from men, but there always remained some draped looks for women through the war years.
These are part of a sale taking place on-line at Augusta Auctions on February 15th, 2023. To learn more, go here: https://augusta-auction.com/auction/79

“Step into Spring with These 5 Fashionable Sneaker Trends”
"Improve your sneaker style this spring with these valuable tips on the latest fashionable sneaker trends." When it comes to fashionable footwear, designers are on a mission to elevate sneakers beyond street style to become the luxe staple we can't live without. Showy with a plethora of textures – think shiny silhouettes, suede, and crystals, not to mention sneakers with chunky soles to classic retro styles, this season it's all about high-fashion comfort – with enough flair to be on our 'most wanted' list, whatever the dress code. Here's how to get your trainer therapy with these five sneaker trends... 1. Snazzy silver "Sneakers are everywhere this season, from mega metallics to pops of color or classic white; there is a style to suit every woman," says Lisa Kay, CEO of Sole Bliss. "The silver trend continues… it's modern, eye-catching, and incredibly versatile, as metallics can work as a neutral," says Kay. "Silver trainers can be easily dressed up or down and work as party shoes or everyday wear." Next -Signature Forever Comfort Leather Chunky Wedges Platform Trainers, $76 Sole Bliss Palazzo: Silver Leather, $299 2. Peach fuzz A hot topic in fashion circles, Pantone's 2024 Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz, is a playful, peachy tone that hits all the right notes… "With a call to the Eighties, this is a colour trend that cries sunshine no matter what the weather barometer says," notes Donna Hill, Gola digital and marketing director. "Used as a highlight across several styles this season, its warmth and radiance brighten any outfit. "Worn with whites and denims, a touch of peach fuzz adds a sunny and feminine touch to simple styles." JCrew Color Block Trainer, White Peach, $69 Gola Classics Women's Raven Trainers, Orange Spice/Raspberry/Coral Pink, $120 3. Embellishment With a glimmer of glitz or crystals, if solid silver feels too heavy metal, a glimpse of embellishment gives newness to your everyday look. Go nude with a bit of bling, or pair darker tones with white jeans to put a spring in your step. Bobbies Willow, Milos Beige, $215 Sole Bliss Star: Navy Leather & Suede, $299 4. Vintage vibe A key trend for SS24, vintage styles are where it's at… "From colourful suede options to Eighties-inspired court trainers, retro styles are here to stay," says Hill. With so many options, she says vintage classics can be styled to suit any occasion. "Bold-coloured suede options elevate the simplest looks and work well with tailored trousers and ankle-grazing denim," Hill continues, "while chunkier options provide the perfect juxtaposition to floaty dresses and skirts." Chrysoline de Gastines, co-founder of Balzac Paris, agrees: "With a thinner, more delicate profile imbued with a vintage essence, the sneaker of 2024 reimagines its contours while striving for a lighter construction." With daring color selections to create a truly distinctive and original design, Gastines says the subtly elevated sole and vibrant upper complement both trousers and feminine ensembles, such as skirts or dresses. Gola Classics Women's Elan Trainers, Marine Blue/White, $110 Balzac Paris Yellow and Black Colette Sneakers, $225 5. Athletic aesthetic Whether it's fun brights, muted schemes, or pops of color, there's an attention to detail with the latest looks in sporty trainers. "With running shoes styling out most of our wardrobes, styles such as the 'LKB step' are the perfect shoe to fuse utmost comfort with fashion, playing into the chunky trainer trend," says Thomasine Jordan, global product and design director of LK Bennett. Furthermore, they look fabulous with faded denim, loose linen, or leggings and offer an instant style update to your wardrobe with that all-important street cred status. Top 5 Best Long-Lasting Perfumes Online
Tumblr media
You can't go wrong with a nice perfume to complement your clothing. Selecting a scent that complements your personality and the occasion is essential before heading out to a party in the United Arab Emirates.
What are some of the ways of choosing the right perfume for long lasting?
✅Think about the time of year.
The weather in the UAE can be very hot and humid, so it's important to pick a perfume that won't be too strong. In the summer, you can wear lighter, more floral scents, and in the winter, you can wear stronger, more musky smells.
✅Think about the occasion
If you're going to a formal event, choose a cologne that smells more grown-up. For a relaxed party, you can get away with something a little more fun.
✅Remember the notes
When you're trying on perfume, take some time to smell the different notes. You'll smell the top notes first, and they'll give you an idea of the whole scent. The middle notes are the most important and long-lasting part of a cologne. The perfume is built on the base notes, which give it a long-lasting finish.
✅Test it out
Once you've found a few perfumes you like, you should put them on your skin to see how they feel. This will help you see how they change over time and how the chemicals in your body affect how they smell.
✅Ask for help without being shy.
Don't be afraid to ask a worker in a perfume store for help if you don't know which smell suits you best. They can help you find a scent that you like.
Which are some of the best perfumes available for long lasting online?
There are many  perfumes available but we made a list of some top onces for your long lasting needs.
1) ARMANI ACQUA Di Gio
The scent of Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio pour homme is reassuring and calming, like the sea after a storm or a waterfall. The perfume was released to the public in 1996. He reminds me of a gentle breeze, touched by the setting sun. The pursuit of this ideal mix of floral sweetness and briny marine freshness is akin to the search for untouched beauty, boundless freedom, independence, and naturalness. It was tailor-made to be your travel companion to those faraway, paradisaical islands. The fragrance's top notes consist of rosemary and jasmine, while the ocean-inspired centre notes act as a framework. The aftereffects of the scent include high-end ingredients including white musk, cedar, and patchouli.
2)BOND No9 I Love New York For Fathers For Men
I Love New York for Fathers is Bond No. 9's newest men's scent. In 2012. Top notes include lime, basil, and coriander; middle notes include grapefruit flower, sage, and lavender; while base notes include musk, amber, and oakmoss.
3) BURBERRY DE PARFUM
The innovative house of Burberrys released its invigorating oriental floral scent in 1995 under the name Burberrys. Some of the notes in this flowery perfume are peach, apricot, sandalwood, cedar, amber, and musk. It's recommended that you wear this while out and about.
4)Bvlgari Splendida Tubereuse Mystique For Women
Bvlgari's Splendida Tube rose Mystique is a wonderful fragrance for women who enjoy Oriental Floral smells. This fragrance is a first of its kind. The perfume's nose was created by Sophie Labbe. The most prominent aromas are black currant and davana. The song's main theme is a tuberose blossom. The fragrance's foundation is made up of absolute vanilla and myrrh. The Tuberose Mystique Eau de Parfum is the newest addition to Bulgari's luxurious Splendida fragrance collection, and its name evokes a dreamy forest walk laced with uplifting florals. Tuberose, warm vanilla, and woody base notes come together to create a smell that is both confident and assertive. Packaged in the signature blue and gold of Bulgari's luxury goods, this perfume exudes an air of opulence and mystery that only adds to its appeal.
5)BYREDO HAZE VELVET (Eau De Parfum) Unisex
Velvet Haze draws influence from the music and culture of the 1960s for the way in which they convey a sense of liberation, optimism, and a unique style that has endured to the present day.
If you're still unsure, though, you can always ask the experts at Fans of scents, a UAE perfumery that stocks fragrances from all over the world including perfume gift sets uae as well!
Conclusion:- Finding the perfect fragrance for your long lasting might be challenging, but it doesn't have to be. You can pick a fragrance that complements your personality and the occasion by following these guidelines. If you do your homework and test out a few different fragrances, Fans of Scents in the United Arab Emirates will help you choose the perfect perfume for you.

Very valuable, the Tailor for the woman has known how to dust off her image office clothes a little too strict with which it has been associated for a long time. If it retains its charm of yesteryear, and still imposes itself as the alter ego of men's suits, the woman suit uninhibited her look to no longer be limited to business women, but to address fashionistas of all ages, and from all social and professional backgrounds. Zara signs the most vitaminized women's suit of the summer Boring never again, the pant suit the traditional is overshadowed by its formal cut. The blazer, which functions as the flagship piece of this clothing range, is no longer only combined with loose trousers with darts, it is sometimes broken up to make way for other similar jackets. And this season we have had to bet on prêt-à-porter brands and, in particular, Zarato reissue one of the biggest hits of spring 2020: the cropped suit. Whether or not one is familiar with this fashion trend, it is impossible to have missed it given its omnipresence in the past. Appreciated by celebrities from all over the world and with a great sense of style, this suit is wonderfully available in a short skirt with elegant stitching, and a short jacket above the navel whose waist is tied with a fabric belt that makes all the difference. . An ideal wedding guest outfit, but not only Why do we like it in the newsroom? Due to its practical-chic aspect, which allows it to adapt both to an outing in the city, and to a ceremony of marriage, or a day at the office. But that is not all. In addition to its shocking storylines, this very feminine suit ticks all the right boxes as it's dyed orange, one of the colors flagship of the summer of 2022, which allows as a bonus to give a peach complexion to women who wear it, awakening all skin tones. For the whole batch of clothes? Count a little less than 76 euros. Depending on the authorized budget, you can buy only the top or the bottom and buy the accessory next month, or wear the jacket or shorts with other clothes. Jeans to combine with the cropped blazer and crochet blouse to combine with the jacket. Enchanted
finally finished this!!! im so happy with it, and will be writing it in thomas’s pov as soon as possible and perhaps part 2?
Tumblr media
Sleep evades me. My mind keeps returning to last night, specifically to a certain person I had met last night. I pull the covers higher, burying my head as I finally gave into my wandering mind.
~
I stand alone, needing a break from my aunt Amelia. The music was beautiful, a soft sound that filled the entire room. The party itself was decorated in a magical way, the columns in the building encompassed in vines, the tables with floral centrepieces. It was a mixture of whimsy and magic, yet no one seemed happy to be here. Everyone I spoke to was forcing smiles, men faked laughter as they believed this was not a party but a way to make business deals and enforce their own reputation. It was absurd how no one was just admiring the effort people put into making this perfect. It was the same every month, I'd walk to the edge of the room and watch. To calm my nerves, to explore the different flower pieces, the musicians and the flickering candles from the chandelier. The gowns women wore only once to try and show their wealth, whilst I tended to wear the same, as it fit the magical atmosphere this room desperately tried to make people see, yet they were too blind by their greed, the need to prove themselves to everyone to just simply stand back and enjoy themselves.
My cousin Liza seemed to be in conversation with Dacina, the host of the party, someone I had spoken to a few times, each being more enjoyable. Her calming demeanour and charm always lifted my spirits. Her family organizes this ball once a month, her father hates it but makes a lot of business so it is always left to her to plan and design it. With the help of Illeana and lots of their servants they always make this place ethereal. Her brother, Thomas Cresswell, only ever shows up for a few hours then leaves, only being able to handle the faking niceties for so long. Dacina told me of his tolerance, or lack thereof, to society. She speaks highly of her brother, as I once did, yet I have never met Mr.Cresswell.
The varnished wooden floor slowly gathers marks as couples danced. How I longed to be one of those dancers, being swivelled by someone I loved. They would look at me as if I was the most magical thing in the room, with a soft smile and adoration in every word he whispers to me. I would be his equal as we spun around, the world fading into nothing as we held each other. Alas, those dreams are not likely for someone cruel enough to carve the dead.
I snap out of my fantasy as a group of older men walk towards the buffet near me. They talk loud enough so everyone can hear, shockingly talking about work. I roll my eyes at them and look away back to the dance floor. The lights above cast shadows, making the scene feel like my imagination as I sit by a fireplace to read a romance novel. If this was a novel, there would be my love interest here, watching and finding the courage to say something. There are families at the table, children clinging to mothers as the men sit and discuss whatever. My father, uncle and aunt sit together in a seemingly civil conversation. I look for Liza again, deciding I should probably stop brooding in the corner but as I look for her my attention keeps going back to the men at the buffet. Not by choice, but by their obnoxious decision to shout their conversation.
“A woman led the strike, ridiculous, she had to go,” I heard an oldish man say, followed by murmurs of agreement, “these strikes are out of hand, demanding we pay more, absurd notions.” The man is none other than Mr. Birling, a notoriously cold hearted man, much like dacianas father apparently, both of whom value money rather than people. Even their own families. The group of men who looked the same as him, slightly wrinkled face, greyish hair, miserable faces with hints of conniving schemes being plotted against each other. Friends until one of them was earning more money and was more successful, then they were enemies again.
The men were in a heated discussion about their business and from what I can dissect from their ramblings is that they fully believe themselves to be hard working men, a rarity these days, and they must do what is necessary for their companies. Meaning, budget cuts, strikes from workers, firing people, and any horrible decision in the name of money.  I refrain from rolling my eyes, or going over to berate them.
“Mr. Birling would not know what a hard day's work is.” someone says quietly behind me. His voice is smooth, confident, and whilst I agree due to what I have learnt about the birling family and the conversation I had just overheard, I still wouldn't say it aloud with him being this close. Not that he pays any attention to anyone but ‘hard working men’.
I turn my head slightly, the man behind me is tall, a smirk playing at his lips. His suit is finely tailored in a dark grey, with a peach tie. He takes a step forwards and stands at my side, staring out into the crowd, a glass of half drunk champagne in his hand. I return my gaze to the crowd. “Whatever makes you think that, surely you heard him talk about how much he works,” I try to suppress my own smirk and I also sneak a glance at the strange man. He merely takes a sip of his champagne.
“Right of course, his words, I shall listen more closely next time.”
“As you should. You wouldn't want to misinterpret someone's work ethic and make a fool of yourself in front of a stranger.”
“You consider me a fool now?” he turns to me now, hands pressed against his chest in fake offence. His brown eyes meet mine as I face him. His sharp cheekbones feel familiar, but I can't place where from.
“Yes. how could you consider someone such as Mr Birling, a man with such talent and tolerance of others, a man who clearly built his company and was not handed it by his father, how could you with a straight face imply he doesn’t know hard work.”  we stare at each other for a few seconds, then burst out laughing. He has such a pure laugh, we seem to be the only sound in the room. People around us stop and stare, upset two people are having fun at a party. The stranger leans against one of the columns, disrupting the vines slightly. Yet he doesn't seem to care, as he slowly starts to regain his composure from our outburst.
Mr. Birling is one of the men looking at us with full disdain. He perceives us as two kids who do not understand life, he specifically tells his accountant that there is something wrong with us if the rumours are to be believed. Children of science. Outrageous. Especially a girl. A girl, not a woman. I ignore his pathetic whining, intent on not letting him ruin my night and return my focus to the stranger. Who, I realise, is someone who enjoys science. His face is more solemn now, having also overheard Mr.Birling. He quickly recovers and plasters a smirk on his face, a spark shines in his eye and I can already tell this won't be good.
“I want to meet this ‘girl’ who led the strike, perhaps she could use some help. I mean, all they ask is fair pay,”
“But fair pay is absurd. Completely and utterly absurd. Why should the wealthy share their wealth to those who ensure it.” he finishes for me. The men that run this world will end up being the reason it fails. We share a look, full of understanding and he lets out a sigh. Now we're talking about work and politics at a party.
“Aside from those charming men, how are you enjoying the party?” He gestures to the men around us and I snort. Charming was one word for them. Being with him and trading remarks felt like passing notes to each other, telling secrets during class even though we are meant to be listening to the teacher. I can't help but think I know him, and by the look in his own face he knows me. Perhaps we met but didn't have time for a full conversation like we are now.
“Mostly entertaining, the place is spectacular as always, the people are..” I searched for a word to describe the people, as well as my family. I love them dearly but they can be insufferable. “An interesting mix. My family is dramatic, so I escaped to the edge to peace and quiet, which apparently isn't possible. "I give him a pointed look but he takes no notice.
“My family is also dramatic, and I came for peace myself but found myself captivated by you, specifically how you watched the crowd, listening, and how you curled your fists in an attempt not to go and publicly humiliate the poor man. Which, by the way, I think you should've. Would've made the whole thing worth it.” He takes a sip of his champagne and I nearly roll my eyes at him. Of course he'd want that. From what I can tell he isn't someone who enjoys society and has no problem saying it. I also think about the families in attendance and which of those are dramatic. The only person I can think of is Darci's brother, whom I've not met but heard about his nature over wine with her.
“If I was merely standing here minding my business would you still have found me captivating enough to talk to me? Or is my appeal in my anger?”
He downs the rest of the drink and straightens himself taking a step towards me. I cross my arms, impatient but he gives me a soft smile. “I've been trying to get the courage to talk to you for months, I always see you here at the edge, always. My eyes find you instantly in any crowd. Transfixed, captivating. It was an added bonus to me when I saw the fierce nature in your eyes up close, I knew I was right to want to befriend you.”
Silence falls as we both take in his words. I feel bad, not being able to figure out who he is. His honesty is admirable and makes me smile, as well as blush. I can feel heat rise to my cheeks. Just as I begin to rectify the situation by asking for his name, a man comes behind
me, he’s around 40 probably, and looks at me horrendously in an attempt at a smile. I recognised him from earlier, he's one of the men that spoke with Mr Birling and that alone makes me instantly want to recoil.
“Can I help you sir?” I asked and I can hear my own clipped words, yet somehow he does not. The smile widens and he looks me up and down. Then he offers his hand to me and I realise he wants to dance. With a woman half his age, that he has never met.
“Miss Wadsworth, dance with me?” more of a common than a question. Since I am already highly aware he doesn’t like when females have opinions or say no, I refrain from rolling my eyes and just walking off from him. Instead I take a step back, so I'm by my new friend’s side and smile widely.
“I'm afraid I already promised the darling Wadsworth a dance, we are just finishing our drinks first.” As if to prove my point he drinks the last of his drink, mostly to hide his smirk. Something else the man doesn't seem to notice. His face drops, but his pride makes him believe he can stand there, waiting for me to run to him. There is an awkward silence until I feel hands reach down and take mine, they are warm and make me jump slightly at the contact. Not in a bad way, not in the way I would have if it had been the man in front of me with his gaze like fire as he looks at our joined hands as though he has a right to be mad about it. I feel my own fire burn as he stares, so I tug his hand away from the man. I need to just escape into the dreamlike nature of the dancefloor, as well as thank my saviour and learn his name.
He leads me to the dance floor, nearer the edge and his hands slip down to my waist as I find his shoulders. His touch is hesitant but reassuring. Somehow he looks calm and terrified, as though he never expected to dance with me but never wants to stop. I can't help but feel the same as we begin to move. My skirt swirls around us and we say nothing for a while as we both calm ourselves and let the music envelope us. In a way, this is as close to my daydreaming as I might ever get. Being here on the dance floor with someone who isn't twice my age and the definition of misogyny. We dance as equals, neither of us truly leading but letting each other float around each other. We're sure of our movements and demand nothing from each other. It is a weird calmness that settles. We are strangers as far as i know, and yet we dance as though we have known each other our entire lives.
“You are a delight, miss Wadsworth.” he breaks the silence, somehow louder than the music for me, yet it's quiet. Almost like he didn't mean to say it aloud.
“How do you know me?” my voice matches and i feel bad asking, but i need to know. My tone is not accusing, and his face only burrows in confusion for a second before he smirks at me. A smirk I'm seeming to become familiar with.
“My sister Dacina speaks highly of you.” my eyes must expand as he laughs softly. That's why I recognized him. He has the same structure as Dacina, sharp cheekbone and soft skin. Perfect complexion.
“So you are the infamous Thomas cresswell?” this time I smirk and his eyes widen.
“Infamous? What on earth have you heard of me?”
“Your sister has lots of opinions on you.”
“Of course she does. Whatever she has said is most likely not true.” He blurts out and I laugh at his relationship with his sister and him wanting to impress me. “Unless she told you I am utterly irresistible, charming, quick witted and incredibly smart.” winking at me he sends me into a surprising spin and my hands land on his chest. We've sped up slightly, yet our heartbeats are both faster than necessary and I can see a hint of a blush creeping up on his cheeks.
“She did mention you have an overly large ego. She'll be happy to know I agree with her.” I feel his hands tighten at my waist slightly and I watch his curls fall down in his face as he shakes his head. I'm delighted by this turn of events. Daci is wonderful, and if this is the Thomas that I get to see, not his reputation, then I shall try and keep this in my life for as long as possible. His spark in his eyes shows how he may think the same. Also, if daci, liza and ileana are with Thomas, then i might have the most fun I've ever had in my life.
His voice slides through my thoughts, but also reinforces them. “I am sure she failed to mention how big of an ego she has. Honestly, Darci is worse than I. Have you met Illeana? She will surely agree with me on this.”
“I'm sure she would, I've also heard you are a scientist, what do you study?”
“The dead. Much like you and your uncle.” There is so much certainty in his voice, no resentment or the usual tone I hear so I gift him an earnest smile.
The song ends, and we stand, hands still on each other for a second longer than we should. Just as I go to remove my hands from his chest I feel him pinch my sides lightly. Then his warm hands slip from my waist and I wish more than anything to dance again.
We go to return back to the column near the buffet, where we first spoke, and as I take a step I feel him move so he's pressed at my back, his hands finding mine. Even though we are gloved, even though no one can see our hands due to how close we are, and how many people are moving about, my heart pounds at his bold nature. I adore it, so I squeeze him and keep my head facing forward as I lead him off the dance floor. We settle back, Thomas letting go of my hand to pick up two glasses of champagne and hands me one. We both take a long sip, perhaps settling our brains or making it worse. Well see.
“You look,” he pauses, as if trying to find the right words, brows furrowed slightly as if he was reading a dictionary, “enchanting.” he finally finishes, gifting me a rare smile it seems. No longer does he smirk at me, but shows me a genuine look that I want to have painted as it is the best thing I have witnessed. Heat rises to my cheeks as I look down at my dress. Someone at least understood what I was going for, with a pale peach colour, sparkling bodice that runs along the length of the skirt. The long sleeves adorned with tiny gemstones, golden to match the accented colours of the hall. In response to Thomas I look back up at him with my own genuine smile, perhaps some of the only true smiles to be shared this evening. His suit fits him perfectly, showing off his defined features, his tie a pale peach as well. I assume Dacina helps him, as her dresses always astound me with the details. There are tiny, miniscule gems on his tie, that snake down and remind me of vines.
“You look,” I act the way he did, scanning my brain for something that fits, handsome or charming doesn't do justice but I'm sure whatever I use will only boost his ego and be used against me, so I settle with: “bedazzling.”
“Bedazzling?”
“Thomas, I study the dead, I have to look closer than one should at things, so of course I noticed your tie. Henceforth: bedazzling.” The air shifts back to our teasing tone and he smirks once again.
“You are the only one to notice, except Daci of course, nothing gets past her. Am I correct in assuming you like the tie?” Despite his teasing I feel a hint of worry as if I wouldn’t like his tie.
“I adore the tie cresswell, everyone here should be weaning ties with tiny jewels.”
His face falls as he scans the crowd, eyes narrowing slightly as he takes in the groups of men. “I cannot tell if you are being serious with me or not, but I agree nonetheless. The men here are awfully drab, boring, plain. It's insulting to us really. Daci puts so much time into making this beautiful and these people do not see it.” He is shaking his head. I agree, I have heard how much work goes in and despite my effort to help she insists that I do nothing but enjoy the party. I have a sneaking suspicion though that Liza helps. The flower centrepieces are her favourite, and whilst that might be a coincidence I know how stubborn and convincing she can be.
“I do. I love her parties. I always find myself standing here, watching and noticing all the changes from the month prior. Like, last month she went for more of a red theme, with red roses as the centrepieces, little red accented chairs and carpets. Whereas this month is more of a forestry vine, hence the vines around the column.” I point as though they are a secret thing you need to search for even though they are obvious. Yet he turns anyway and runs his finger down the length of it with his adorable face set at a soft smile. Thomas might have been there when she got the idea, or placed them or he might have placed them himself and is now remembering it.
My gaze finds Thomas and he looks at me, baffled, and I feel the blush creeping back up. It is not the same confused look that I get when I tell people my love of science, but one of intrigue. As if he could listen to me talk forever and not get bored. It's as if he has never thought anyone would notice such things about his family's party. “Enchanting.” is all he whispers to me. Then he clears his throat, an ever so soft shake of his head as though once again the words were meant for him and not us both.
I stare out at the crowd again. I'm sure my family will want to know where I've disappeared to, I normally do not leave them this long. Liza I'm sure will want to know why I danced with Thomas. Yet the thought of leaving him makes my legs leaden and my heart sink and anchor me right next to him. Im completely wonderstruck, and feel ill have a permanent blush, especially when i look at his stupidly handsome face, his quick smirk and small smiles that feel special. It is odd, I've only heard stories, spoken to him briefly and danced, yet I have enjoyed his company immensely and hope this never ends. I want more dances and to steal more smiles to keep forever. I want to make fun of people together, and dance.
I go to steal a glimpse of him, expecting to find him staring at the crowd like I was but his eyes are on me. “I have to leave,” his abrupt words anchor me in an entirely different way, “I mean,  I want to stay and I'm sure you want my amazing presence always now Wadsworth but I have to wake early. New job. So, my darling, I shall see you tomorrow.” Thomas hesitates for half a second and begins to walk away. I watch him go and say goodnight to his sister and then leave. His words fill my head. It’s reassuring to know he enjoys my company as much as I do.
~
I bolt upright in my bed, the lights, music and memories falling away as I focus on the last words he said to me.
I'll see you tomorrow.
What does tomorrow mean? Does it mean he has a job where he thinks I visit? Will he be making an effort to befriend me? Does he know my family? I am so confused. How had I not caught these words sooner? Perhaps he wants to tell me he had a terrible time, that he doesn't like my presence. I'm on my feet without realising, pacing back and forth, the cold air hugging me close. I wish he was in front of me now. I wish he would whisper the words enchanting again. I wish I knew what was happening in a few hours that warranted him saying those four words. I run my hands over my face, untie my hair and let my curls fall over my shoulder, brushing away the colder ever so slightly. I'm ridiculous. Four tiny words sent me spiralling. I climb back into bed, my hair fanning out around me and the blanket returning warmth back into my system. Immediately my mind returns to Thomas, his face forever in my mind. Even if tomorrow could be the last time I see him, there is a chance that it is just the start.
Enchanting…
Those words fill me with confidence that yes, Thomas might become someone special to me. That perhaps our dance sparked something and now all I wish is that I can tell him how enchanting he is.

@leatherjacketmazzello requested what going clothes shopping with the pedro boys is like!
so lets go !!
warnings : mentions of lingerie, mentions of sex.
Tumblr media
javier pena :
i’m not gonna lie to you, i kind of feel like javi wouldn’t be all that up to the idea of going clothes shopping with you at first. he has better things to do with his time rather than help you pick out clothes, that’s at least what he says until you casually mention you might be trying on some bra’s as well.
our boy gets up very quickly and is already in the car by the time you grab your purse. the process of actually finding something to try on his boring for him at first; he has no idea how womens clothes work, this man only ever goes shopping if he has literally nothing else to wear or if his jeans are beyond repair. this along with the fact that he normally just picks a pair, gets the size and leaves. i don’t think the concept of actually trying on clothes before you buy them is actually in his brain.
it’s not until you drag him along with you to the change rooms with a little white sundress with cute sunflower patterns all over it hung over your arm and tell him to wait while you try it. he ends up sat on a stool with his arms crossed as he impatiently waits for you. the ladies working at the change rooms have a little giggle and crack a few jokes with him while he waits.
it’s not until he hears the curtain draw back and lazily turns his head to you, only to nearly choke on his own saliva when he sees you grinning at him happily and do a little spin to show it off.
this man nearly gets a semi then and there.
next thing you know javi is picking out several more things to try on, so much so that you need to remind him you still need to try on bra’s.
he is very, very motivated to help you pick something out.
Tumblr media
francisco “catfish” morales :
we know our boy is a sweetheart™ so even if he doesn’t have the best of idea of how shopping for women’s clothes works, you best believe he is going to happily drive with you to the mall to at least try and help.
everytime you hold something up and ask him what he thinks he just holds his hands in his pockets and shrugs. it’s not that he doesn’t care, it’s just that to him everything looks beautiful on you so it doesn’t really matter.
when you finally pick out a few items and bring him with you to the change rooms, you decide to just let him go in with you because we know he’s seen you naked countless times, neither of you really care at this point and there was nobody actually in the change rooms at the time so why not?
he’s not really paying the m o s t attention because while he loves you, he’s only human, this man will check his phone every now and then.
h o w e v e r, he looks up just in time to see you pulling on a pair of jean shorts and he’d be lying if watching you do a little shimmy while pulling them over the curse of your ass and turning in the mirror to check them out.
the moment you turn to him and asks him what he thinks his eyes are slightly widened and the man looks absolutely hypnotized. it’s not hard for you to realize that those jean shorts are most definitely a solid yes.
Tumblr media
shane “dio” morrisey :
i feel like you and dio would get your clothes at pretty similar places, so whenever you want to go shopping it’s an invitation for him to come along and grab a few things for himself as well. this is despite the fact that literally every single time you two go shopping, it turns into dio taking you into practically every lingerie shop he can find and getting you to try things on for him.
we’re not gonna sit here and act like you guys don’t shoplift ok, this man does not have a job, he is not paying for any of this.
he’s usually more enthusiastic about picking things out for you, purely because he loves to see you try on things that he thinks would look good on you, lots of skirts and such.
he wouldn’t force you to get something if you didn’t like it, but he’d definitely reassure you that if you change your mind he’s still putting it in his bag.
i feel like he’d love to pick out chokers for you to try as well?
yes, you two go into a sexy shop, yes you come out with some very interesting purchases in terms of what some would consider ‘clothes.’
Tumblr media
oberyn martell :
well i mean, this man is a prince, if you even mention that you’re thinking about going down to the market to look for some more gowns, he can and will send you a plethora of new items.
you told him you were fine with just going to the market and picking out a few simple things. did he listen? no. you know for a fact that some of these dresses come from the finest tailors in westeros.
at first you don’t want to accept it, it’s too much, but oberyn reassures you that you deserve them, and that only the most beautiful of gowns are allowed to grace your ethereal body.
you know for a fact that he only wants you to try them on in front of him so that he can take them off of you, one of his favorites thing to do is know that you’re wearing something that he got for you, almost like he’s wrapping his own present in beautiful silks and embroidered velvet dresses.
there was only one time the two of you actually went down to the market and every single time you tried something on he would shake his head slowly and tell you that whatever you were trying on was not worthy of your beauty and that you just need to let him order in dresses that are truly worthy enough of such a goddess.
Tumblr media
din djarin :
ok look, our boy mando knows next to nothing about womens clothing, but armor? that our boy knows, he will absolutely take you to the markets and help you pick out armor that is worth the credits as well as making sure you aren’t paying more than it’s worth.
i’m not gonna lie our boy would be absolutely hopeless at helping you go clothes shopping and thats ok, it’s not like he ever thought he would be doing that, he is a bounty hunter after all.
there was only a single time that you were out looking for a bounty and came across a small market, curiosity getting the better of you, you went and had a look, thinking that maybe you could find something to bring back for the kid, a new toy or something.
you didn’t mean to buy the dress, it was just the fact that as you picked it up, you could tell that din was staring at you intensely through his helmet, and part of you just knew he was imagining what you would look like in the dress.
of course it found it’s way into your bag all for the purpose of surprising him later on.
Tumblr media
maxwell lord :
the second that you mention your plans to go out shopping for a few new bits and pieces, maxwell is immediately standing up from his desk and informing his secretary that the two of you were going out.
he gets the two of you in a car and next thing you know you’re pulling up outside of chanel, looking over at maxwell with furrowed brows. he just looks at you like it’s the most normal thing in the world to go to chanel for ‘bits and pieces.’
you try to assure him that he doesn’t have to take you here but he just brushes whatever protests you give off and takes you inside, unable to hide a chuckle when he see’s you looking around the store in awe, marveling at the chandelier and perfectly pressed white fluffy carpets.
he tells you to start looking around and tells you to let him know if you see something you like. you look at him like he’s crazy but none the less begin to nervously walk around the store, tilting your head at the overdressed mannequins put into outfits that must cost more than your car and rent combined.
as soon as you look at something for more than five seconds, maxwell asks if you like it or if you want to try it on. to be honest, shopping with maxwell is kind of a nightmare purely because you can’t help but feel like the workers will think this is some kind of sugar daddy relationship and that you’re just with maxwell for his money. maxwell assures you that they don’t get paid enough to care.
Tumblr media
max phillips :
while max isn’t exactly loaded, we know he’s a frat boy that’s come from a trust fund family so he definitely isn’t middle class by any means.
so expect that when you tell max that you’re thinking of going out to get some new clothes he takes you to ralph lauren of all places; this is a man who wears tailored suits and always has his rolex on, he is going to spoil you at least a little bit.
even if you have concerns about people thinking you’re a gold digger, he assures you that he knows you love him and that’s the only opinion that you should really care about.
and yes, when you get home he expects you to model everything he bought you, especially any and all expensive lingerie.
Tumblr media
jack daniels a.k.a agent whiskey :
when it comes to our southern boy, he has simple taste at heart. so when you say that you were thinking of getting some new clothes, he absolutely wants to go with you purely because he wants to help you as well as having the opportunity to shower you with compliments.
he knows your taste extremely well and is very good at picking out things that he knows you’ll both really like.
however, it doesn’t matter what you try on, because every single time without failure it’s going to result in you showing it to him for his opinion and in turn having him look you up and down, let out a low whistle and tell you that “well, you look as pretty as a peach, good enough to eat.” or some variation of his classic southern charm.
at the end of the day he’s happy if you’re happy, he’s probably never going to get sick of shopping trips if it means it’s just an excuse to oogle at you and compliment you every five minutes.
Tumblr media
pero tovar :
i think he’s more surprised than anything when you say you want to go to the market for something other than armor or weapons. he’s never seen you in anything other than armor or sleepwear so the idea of you wearing anything else is a completely new concept to him. he’s lying if he says he isn’t at least curious.
at first he’s a bit overwhelmed by the dresses that you’re looking at, especially when it comes to all the fancy words the sellers are saying. ‘embroidered’ ‘hand stitched’ he doesn’t know what they mean but he learns that they’re good things at least? he’s definitely not trying to remember the words so that if he ever wants to surprise you with anything he’ll know what to ask for.
he almost freezes when you turn to him holding up a dress and asking him what he thinks, we all know that he doesn’t know enough to have a good opinion on the dress itself, and any opportunity to get you into something pretty is a yes for him, he simply shrugs and lets out a small grunt.
he’s thankful for the market trip later on when he actually gets to see you in the dress later on, especially when he gets to tear it off of you.
Tumblr media
dave york :
a majority of the time dave is far too busy to actually go shopping with you, but the second he gets some time off you are dragging that man to a store with you to pick out some clothes. he doesn’t necessarily have very interesting opinions of what you hold up from the rack, once again coming back to the whole idea of you looking gorgeous in whatever you wear.
things do get interesting when you get to lingerie however, if he had ears, they would perk up at the mention of it.
yes, he wants you to try things on. yes, if you like it he’ll be the one buying it for you because he wants to see you wearing lingerie he knows he paid for.
also he absolutely tries to spew some bullshit he’s heard from chick flicks about how ‘that cardigan matches goes with your eye color.’ okay dave, you get an a for effort at least?

Today we remember the passing of  Nuta Kotlyarenko aka Nudie Cohn who Died: May 9, 1984 in Burbank, California
Nuta Kotlyarenko, known professionally as Nudie Cohn, was an American tailor who designed decorative rhinestone-covered suits, known popularly as "Nudie Suits", and other elaborate outfits for some of the most famous celebrities of his era. He also became famous for his outrageous customized automobiles.
Kotlyarenko was born in Kiev on December 15, 1902, to a Ukrainian Jewish family. To escape the pogroms of Czarist Russia, his parents sent him at age 11, with his brother, Julius, to America. For a time he criss-crossed the country, working as a shoeshine boy and later a boxer, and hanging out, he later claimed, with the gangster Pretty Boy Floyd. While living in a boardinghouse in Mankato, Minnesota, he met Helen "Bobbie" Kruger, and married her in 1934. In the midst of the Great Depression the newlyweds moved to New York City and opened their first store, "Nudie's for the Ladies", specializing in custom-made undergarments for showgirls.
Cohn and Kruger relocated to California in the early 1940s, and began designing and manufacturing clothing in their garage. In 1947 Cohn persuaded a young, struggling country singer named Tex Williams to buy him a sewing machine with the proceeds of an auctioned horse. In exchange, Cohn made clothing for Williams. As their creations gained a following, the Cohns opened "Nudie's of Hollywood" on the corner of Victory and Vineland in North Hollywood, dealing exclusively in western wear, a style very much in fashion at the time.
Cohn's designs brought the already-flamboyant western style to a new level of ostentation with the liberal use of rhinestones and themed images in chain stitch embroidery. One of his early designs, in 1962, for singer Porter Wagoner, was a peach-colored suit featuring rhinestones, a covered wagon on the back, and wagon wheels on the legs. He offered the suit to Wagoner for free, confident that the popular performer (like Tex Williams) would serve as a billboard for his clothing line. His confidence proved justified and the business grew rapidly. In 1963 the Cohns relocated their business to a larger facility on Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood and renamed it "Nudie's Rodeo Tailors".
Many of Cohn's designs became signature looks for their owners. Among his most famous creations was Elvis Presley's $10,000 gold lamé suit worn by the singer on the cover of his 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong album. Cohn created Hank Williams' white cowboy suit with musical notations on the sleeves, and Gram Parsons' infamous suit for the cover of the Flying Burrito Brothers' 1969 album The Gilded Palace of Sin, featuring pills, poppies, marijuana leaves, naked women, and a huge cross. He designed the iconic costume worn by Robert Redford in the 1979 film Electric Horseman, which was exhibited by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
Many of the film costumes worn by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were Nudie designs. John Lennon was a customer, as were John Wayne, Gene Autry, George Jones, Cher, Ronald Reagan, Elton John, Robert Mitchum, Pat Buttram, Tony Curtis, Michael Landon, Glen Campbell, Michael Nesmith, Hank Snow, Hank Thompson, and numerous musical groups, notably America and Chicago. ZZ Top band members Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill sported Nudie suits on the cover photo of their 1975 album Fandango!.
In 2006, Porter Wagoner said he had accumulated 52 Nudie suits, costing between $11,000 and $18,000 each, since receiving his first free outfit in 1962. The Belgian entertainer Bobbejaan Schoepen was a client and personal friend; his collection of 35 complete stage outfits is the largest in Europe.
Cohn strutted around town in his own outrageous suits and rhinestone-studded cowboy hats. His sartorial trademark was mismatched boots, which he wore, he said, to remember his humble beginnings in the 1930s when he could not afford a matching pair of shoes. He shamelessly promoted himself and his products throughout his career.
Cohn was equally famous for his garishly decorated automobiles. Between 1950 and 1975 he customized 18 vehicles, mostly white Pontiac Bonneville convertibles, with silver-dollar-studded dashboards, pistol door handles and gearshifts, extended rear bumpers, and enormous longhorn steer horn hood ornaments. They were nicknamed "Nudie Mobiles", and the nine surviving cars have become valued collector's items. A Bonneville convertible designed for country singer Webb Pierce is on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. A Pontiac Grand Ville convertible customized by Nudie can be seen at the end of the 1988 Buck Owens/Dwight Yoakam music video, "The Streets of Bakersfield." That same car—which Owens's manager claims was originally built for Elvis Presley—now hangs over the bar inside Buck Owens's Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California. Two Nudie Mobiles owned by Schoepen remain on display at Bobbejaanland, a Western-themed amusement park near Brussels.
Nudie Cohn died in 1984 at the age of 81. Numerous celebrities and long-time customers attended his funeral. The eulogy was delivered by Dale Evans. Nudie's Rodeo Tailors remained open for an additional ten years under the ownership of Nudie's widow Bobbie and granddaughter Jamie, and closed in 1994.
Cohn's creations, particularly those with celebrity provenance, remain popular with Country/Western and show business collectors, and continue to command high prices when they come on the market. In December 2009, for example, a white Nudie stage shirt owned by Roy Rogers, decorated with blue tassels and red musical notes, sold for $16,250 at a Christie's auction. A Nudie shirt worn by Johnny Cash as grand marshal of the 1976 American Bicentennial Grand Parade in Washington, D.C., and in several subsequent stage performances, sold at auction for $25,000 in 2010.

Lisa Lisa x Fem!Reader: Let’s Only Think About Love
Tumblr media
Every time Araki does something homophobic in his comic I make one of his characters gay. Strap in ladies. We’re marrying Lisa Lisa. Also congratulations Joseph, I’m your daddy now ;) Under a cut for length. Hope you enjoy!
Taken from a prompt I made up myself: They said Lisa Lisa married a screenwriter, I don’t remember anyone ever said the screenwriter was a man.
Never… He never in a million years would have imagined himself in this exact predicament.
Joseph Joestar must have been the only one here whose brain was too slow on the uptake. When he heard his mother married a screenwriter, he didn’t expect this to happen. Suzie Q and Granny Erina were enjoying themselves with the guild, Suzie fawning over the impeccably tailored suits that the ladies were wearing and Granny Erina commandeered by a group of incredibly friendly men, cooing over her pearls and listening in earnest to the advice she gave them on the many uses of rouge and why Mr. Fahrenheit would most certainly look better if he was to try the red versus the peach color.
“Mrs. Joestar, you are a goddess my darling!” said Mr. Fahrenheit exclaimed, wrapping his large arms around her small frame and making her giggle like a schoolgirl. “Jim sweetheart, you might have a bit of competition, I quite think I’d like to take a wild leap of faith and run away with Mrs. Joestar instead.”
“I cannot say fully that I’d blame you.” Laughed the taller man, kneeling by Granny Erina’s chair as she chastised both men for such talk.
“After all,” she insisted, “It’s not proper to say such things in front of your betrothed.”
The love in the air. Maybe that was what had first flabbergasted him. Every single person in the room was either engaged or to be married, pairing off separately with the opposite sex to prevent suspicion but celebrating the true union with their beloved. Some men in gowns, some women in suits, a bit of both on others, love was everywhere in the room. Permeating the air and sweetening it more than even the scent of the various cakes and sweets crowding a large table. It was quite the foreign concept and Joseph was not used to such freedom. He normally suffered through the parties of the affluent that his Granny dragged him to in his youth, the stiff collars and harsh whispers that permeated the smell of cigars and brandy. Here, the air was so sickly sweet with love that it was nearly suffocating.
Your friends came up to him and tucked flowers in his hair and kissed him warmly when they heard he was already married to the beautiful blonde that befriended nearly everyone in the room. Granny Erina’s lap looked like a garden with all the flowers everyone gave specifically to her in honor of her beloved Jonathan. Joseph even noticed some gentlemen getting very acquainted with Mr. Speedwagon, and the elderly man positively enjoying the attention. Every single one of the people you knew treated the Joestars like royal guests of honor, because of everyone present, the Joestars were the only family members that showed to the celebration.
“I am making this toast not only to the lovely brides who will set sail for their glorious honeymoon abroad in the morning, where they will undoubtedly fill every hour with the intensity of the love they share, but to the lovely people my darling is marrying into.” Mr. Fahrenheit had raised a glass of champagne, his hand on Granny Erina’s shoulder as she held it, “You’re Lisa Lisa’s family, her mother, her son, her daughter. All of you came to see this blessed event because you all love her and want her to be happy. That means more to her and her wife than anything in the world. By our laws, you belong to us now. For this moment in time, though we began as nothing but strangers struggling among the norm in Hollywood, everyone in the room is your blood. We are all Joestars this evening.”
In a million years, he never thought his mother would marry another woman, but when he saw you nearly falling over in your heels trying to greet everyone in his family with all the warmth and happiness of the sun, he couldn’t say he blamed her for falling in love with you. You were sweet, possibly even sweeter than Suzie Q if he was honest with himself. Constantly checking on Granny Erina and crying when she welcomed you into the family, attached at the hip to his wife who absolutely adored you, and more often than not he happened to accidentally catch you and his mother kissing as though you both were going to a war you would never return from. You were wholly and irrevocably in love with his mother, and by extension you loved his family too. There was so much kindness and love inside your pure heart… How could she not love you?
“I’m so happy to meet you Joseph.” You had told him before the party, taking his gigantic hands in yours and smiling sweetly. “I… I hope I’m not imposing myself, but I’ve always wanted a son. And I understand I cannot ever take the place of your father, but I do hope that there will come a time where you will see me as something closer than just the person who married your mother. Even if you just see me as a dear friend. I do love you as if you were my own, and if you ever need anything at all… Please do not hesitate to ask me. I will give you anything you need.”
“Jojo! Take your head out of the clouds my darling, have a drink. It is a reception after all!”
His broad shoulders were engulfed in a hug. At his side materialized Mr. Fahrenheit, a close acquaintance from your childhood that you insisted was like a father to you. He had an unusual manner of speaking, his attitude was that anyone he didn’t know was his “darling”.
“N-nothing.” He insisted, taking the punch the other man offered him. “I’m just…”
“It feels surreal doesn’t it? Seeing them in love…”
Mr. Fahrenheit’s arms never left Joseph’s shoulders, and there was so much sincerity in the embrace that he found himself even leaning into the other man for comfort.
“I… I don’t wish to be rude…”
“You’re not my darling.” Mr. Fahrenheit insisted. “It’s natural after all. You hardly knew your mother, and my sweet darling at her side is even more a stranger to you. But do not worry about the small details. It doesn’t matter a whit about conventionality. You’re not a stranger here. It is as I said before, tonight we are all Joestars, and this is your family. Never be afraid to feel safe with your family my boy.”
From the corner of the room he noticed Suzie Q cooing over the couple of the hour, her arms wrapped around your waist as she gushed over the gown you wore, wishing you and the towering woman at your side all the happiness in the world.
“Of course you’ll come see us every day when you return from your honeymoon, won’t you?” Suzie Q all but begged you as you smiled through the tears.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” You insisted, “I told Elizabeth that Mr. Fahrenheit would be scouting for a home when we returned to New York, and she’s given me so many ideas for the decorations! I hope I have enough room for everything I can find abroad.”
“Wasn’t it you that said whatever we could not fit in the house we can give to Jojo and Suzie?” Lisa Lisa smiled as you turned pink, leaning into her touch as she wrapped her arms around you and kissed you deeply.
“Elizabeth.” You whined. “You’re going to spoil all the lovely surprises I wanted to send them!”
All this time he’d hesitated. Not wanting to make the wrong move that would alienate his mother away from him. And isn’t that all he’d ever wanted anyway? His family… He wanted his parents for his entire life and there they were, standing in the middle of the room with his wife.
Mr. Fahrenheit was right. Conventionality be damned. You were his family, and it wasn’t a bad thing to want to be a part of that love.
“So I guess since you married my mother, I am to call you my ‘papa’ now?”
Joseph snuck up behind you and lifted you in the air, careful not to harm you with his mechanical arm. You squealed, and Lisa Lisa bristled with a rough warning of “Jojo” before you began to giggle.
“I told you Joseph,” you laughed, “I want you to think of me as your parent. If you want me to be your papa, I’ll try my best for you!”
“Oh goody~…” he cooed, nuzzling into your cheeks and making you laugh. “Because I’ve always wanted to be bounced on my papa’s knee, and I have her now. Won’t you indulge your poor neglected son??”
“Jojo I’m warning you…” Lisa Lisa growled, only to be stopped when Joseph put you down, and was suddenly swept up in your arms much to the delight of the guests.
“If that’s what my son wants, it’s what he gets!” you giggled, much to his sputtering protests and red faced chagrin. “Come along Lisa Lisa, let’s shower our little boy in affection! He’s upset because we’re getting all the attention!”

notes: would just like to add that in the movie, curtis has been on earth for 17 years and on snowpiercer for 17. seeing that the reader is a train baby, following this logic would make her underage, and so for the purpose of this story, the numbers work out a little differently and i want to make it clear that reader is not a minor. however, i left it slightly up to interpretation how old she really is, just so it can be more relatable for anyone who’s reading! also shoutout to @allthefandomstogether for THIS BEAUTIFUL GRAPHIC, thank you so much love!!!  ♡

You do not have a lot of time to look at him. One of your fellow middle sectioners steps up right in between you and the revolution leader, ready to kill. Everything is happening so fast, it suddenly feels like your body is acting without your brain.
Your knife goes right into his neck, but it’s not Curtis’.
The middle sectioner you had once called a friend is now dead at your feet from your own doing, his blood splattered across smooth skin and white lace.
Tumblr media
Perhaps there was a time in Curtis’ life where he was carefree, cheerful, naive. Surely he must have been as a little boy, at least, considering he had nearly two decades on Earth before everything became utter chaos. Before Snowpiercer.
Now, Curtis is a rugged and grizzly man, completely hardened from his years on board. The only thing on his mind for years now has been the revolution. The plan to battle his way to the front. He has no time to think of anything or anyone else, save for his team.
Or so he thought, anyways, until he lays eyes on you for the first time, slightly shocked upon witnessing the betrayal of one upper class passenger towards another.
At first, he only sees your face. Beautiful eyes looking back at his, round with innocence. Healthy roseate lips, a feature simple yet so rare in the tail section due to the grime and dryness in the air. Clean, smooth, flawless skin; he cannot even see a single raised swell or tiny mark. He had forgotten that people looked like this. During the past few days of fighting his way to the front of the train, he did not bother to look at the people he was brutally murdering. It had nothing to do with guilt. He simply does not think they are even worth an inch of space in his mind, and therefore their faces do not even have to be glanced at.
As he stares at you, he is suddenly thankful that he did not apply his usual technique to this situation.
His eyes drift down, only to linger upon the thin alabaster lace adorning your figure. He is not sure why his eyebrows furrow upon seeing such ivory stained with vermilion, as if he himself is not covered in it. Then again, there is a difference; his layers of ratty, misfitting clothes were already sullied to begin with-- while morbid, adding blood to the material did not do much damage compared to what had already been done. You, however…
He decides almost immediately that there should never be even a drop of crimson upon your skin or your clothing ever again. Nor should you ever use such a weapon again, or even hold one.
There is silence for a few moments. Edgar and the others have helped kill off the rest. You are the only middle sectioner standing, you are the one closest to the door of the next cart. You still have your knife in your hand, but it is relaxed by your side. You are a bit shaken up, but you do not look nervous of them.
The only people Curtis has truly cared about for a while now are Gilliam, Edgar, and Tanya. No one else fazes him, no one else has ever had a deep enough impact. When he sees you, something changes. It almost feels like instinct.
“Why did you do that?” he asks, body still naturally tense nonetheless. He does not understand what business an upper-middle sectioner has killing one of their own, but he is genuinely intrigued.
“Are you Curtis?” you ask, and he feels slammed in the windpipe upon hearing your voice. Soft and sweet, just like that look in your eyes-- despite the fact you just killed a man. “Yes.” He answers, eyes locked onto yours. “You know me?”
“Of course… Everyone knows you. The man who’s starting a revolution. You’re trying to get to the front.”
“Then why did you help me just now?” he asks, though more curious than suspicious. He does not want to be suspicious of you. He can’t imagine you as deceitful or crooked. Not you. He already has an entire image of you in his head without even knowing your name, without even having known you for more than one minute.
You let yourself look at him for a few moments, feeling oddly relaxed. He is definitely not a sight you are used to, yet for some reason, you already feel strangely secure around him. “In school they taught us to hate the tail section,” you admit softly, looking towards the darkness of the cold night outside the windows. “That they don’t deserve the privileges and rights we get. That there has to be a balance, and so they don’t get showers or real food or nice clothes since we do.” You glance down at your light and dainty apparel before returning your eyes to his. “But I don’t think that seems right.”
“You’re fuckin’ right, it’s not,” Edgar pipes up in a strong Irish accent, and your eyes dart to him in curiosity. “But are you only saying that so we spare your life? Because in that case, you can join your friends here lying on the-”
Curtis silences him with a mere movement of his hand, holding it outspread towards the younger’s direction in a gesture to shush him. You are not sure whether to be impressed or nervous that it works so instantly. You look up to those ice cold eyes again, wondering what he’ll say. You know that his friend has every right to feel wary. You can’t even imagine the twisted things the front sectioners have subjected them to; you quite literally do not know what they are, because such topics are not discussed. “I want to fight,” you suddenly say, and Curtis blinks. “I want to join the revolution, I want to help you guys.” You can feel everyone’s eyes on you, and while it feels a bit unsettling, you continue standing your ground as you look up at the team leader.
Curtis has never met someone like you before, not even on Earth. He has never been so interested in someone, so damn fascinated. Perhaps it is because he is a man- a man who has been deprived of something quite a lot of men on this world need. Though, in truth, he really has not thought about sex in the past few years. In such grim living conditions, it is not particularly a priority of his. Perhaps he’s been a little too obsessive over his scheme of revolution, but it isn’t as though there are many viable options when it comes to women in the tail section. They are just as broken and battered as he-- if anything, sleeping with them may only result in even more melancholy.
No, he decides, still studying you intently. That is not the reason he is so enticed. At least, not the whole reason, if his subconscious has something to do with it. You have a countenance he’s never quite seen before-- or at least, in a very long time. You are not broken or battered, nor are you strong and secure. You have guts, that is for sure, but in your figure standing before him, he sees something that is incredibly rare to come by on Snowpiercer.
Immaculacy. Purity. Naivete. Gullibility.
He sees lily white, and it is stained by blood red. In this moment, he realizes he has another job at hand entirely.
“You’ll come with us,” he decides, and you slowly exhale as you look to the floor. “But you won’t fight.”
“What?” Your head snaps up, and he is expecting indignance, but all he sees is confusion and perplexity.
He is even more captivated than before.
“You won’t fight.” He repeats, then looks around, a sense of urgency in his features. “Where do you keep your clothes? Are they here?” You slowly nod your head, pointing to the drawer underneath your bed compartment. Your clothes are custom made for you, and rotated out every now and then with new items added to the mix made by the train’s tailors, based on your style. “Change.” He demands simply, and you’re even more puzzled than before. “I-it’s just a little bit of blood, it’s not a-”
“I said change.”
You obey instantly, upset with yourself for even responding in the first place. You lean over to open the drawer, wondering what to wear. The tailors haven’t exactly made you an outfit suited for battle and bloodshed. He sees you pausing and speaks again. “Something like what you’re wearing will do just fine. Do you have another one?” You blink, not exactly having pictured yourself participating in the revolution dressed in a nightie, but you do not want to argue. You pick up a red one and he instantly shakes his head. “Not red.” You look up at him, trying your best to read him but put it back, biting your lip. “What color, then?”
“White.”
You’re thankful you happen to have another one, unsure how he would react if you didn’t. One day you will ask him why this matters so much, but today is not that day. You need him to trust you. “Can you, uh, turn around, maybe?” you ask shyly, and he nods his head, turning away and giving a look to the others to do the same; they are looking at him just as baffled as you are, even slightly judgmental, but they comply. It still feels awkward anyways, but you quickly slip out of your stained apparel and change into the fresh one. “Okay, I’m ready.” He turns back around and shakes his head. “Not yet.”
Stepping closer, he pulls the sleeve of his thick jacket over his hand, reaching out carefully to wipe the drying blood off your upper chest. It is still fresh enough that no water is necessary, yet he swipes his tongue over his thumb and rubs your collarbones with it, his eyes focused.
From now on, he wants this white lace completely preserved, and he will do whatever it takes to keep it that way. “What’s your name?” he asks you, and you make eye contact with him again, a slight blush on your cheeks. “Y/N,” you answer softly, and he lets the brand roll off his tongue.
He isn’t sure how something can sound so right.

the view from halfway down // charlotte&lola // 6 [Finale]
Summary: Lola sees Charlotte again, how strange.
A/N: @misscharlottelee i feel like this could be expanded upon, but i like the kind of open-endedness to it. i hope you like it!! also to everyone else... there’s time travel, read gabs stories to know more (also just read gabs stories please and thank she’s v talented)
"You look like someone I used to know," Lola goes to apologise to the woman she's stopped on the street who's the spitting image of a young Charlotte, reminding herself that in this day and age, Charlotte would be either dead or sixty, but the woman looks startled, looks caught out, and after a beat she fixes Lola with a calculating stare.
"Do I know you?" The woman isn't hostile, seems genuinely curious, and fuck she even sounds like Charlotte. Every woman in LA kind of sounds like Charlotte, Lola has to remind herself, just as the woman gives a strange little smile, "you look really familiar."
"I get that a lot," Lola gives a laugh, "I'm Lola Sixx; have you seen The Dirt? It just came out -" but as Lola speaks, the woman's mouth opens in surprise, and her eyes widen.
"Lola." No-one in the world says her name quite like that, apart from one Charlotte Lee. "I'm really sorry, I have to -" the woman starts, forcing a smile all of a sudden, "I did see The Dirt, it was great, it was- that's definitely how I know you-" words spill from her in a suddenly frantic mess, but Lola knows better, knows the truth in her heart, that Charlotte, this strangely-young, strangely-alive, strangely-here Charlotte is the same Charlotte she's been mourning for forty years.
"Charlie, you look great," the words come out like a startled gasp, because what else is there to say, this can't be real - "am I going crazy?" Lola asks with half a laugh, and the nervous, flighty look on Charlotte's face melts to something soft.
"You're not going crazy," instinct kicks in and already Charlotte's reassuring Lola, stepping in, a gentle hand on the older woman's shoulder; "do you remember that one weirdly themed birthday I threw for Razz?" Charlotte asks, and Lola's brow furrows for a moment before her expression lights up, "well if I rightly remember, that was the night Razz told me he was going on tour, and you and Nikki pulled the shower curtain railing down when you were having sex in the tub;" and its all coming back to Lola as clear as day, her vision clouding a little with tears as she smiles fondly at the memory, "and we were all dressed up like Razz, remember? Peach had died Vince's hair."
Even a devoted fan wouldn't have been able to sleuth out information that detailed, and with Charlotte's identity confirmed, Lola surges forward, wrapping her in a hug.
"I almost didn't recognise you with the suit," Charlotte's words muffle against Lola's shoulder, while the older woman was shaking with emotions she hadn't even realised herself capable of feeling.
"Charlie, holy shit," are all the words Lola can form, and Charlotte hugs her tighter.
"Yeah," she answers weakly, a slight tremor in her voice. Lola's tearing up, but her grip's still like iron all these years later, which Charlotte takes comfort in. "Lols, you look so old!" Charlotte hears herself say, but only regrets it for the barest moment before Lola's pulling away, beaming.
"Who would have thought I'd make it this far," she snorts, and gently dabs at her eyes, "let me buy you lunch." She insists, and Charlotte, who isn't quite sure what reaction she was expecting, but this wasn't it. Maybe she'd been expecting waterworks, or for Lola to start outright freaking out, but here she is, smiling, offering her hand, and Charlotte's half worried the reality hasn't hit her yet. With a strained smile, Charlotte takes her hand.
"Sure, sounds great," but the nervousness bleeds through her words and Lola's expression falls.
"I mean, if you'd rather, we don't have to do it somewhere public; I could cook us something, I'm sure Nikki would be so glad to see -" she tries, giving Charlotte's hand a gentle squeeze, but Charlotte shakes her head vehemently.
"No."
“Because you don’t think I can cook, I swear it’s been -” but Charlotte’s giving her a guarded look, not the least bit amused, and the realization hits Lola. She can't help her soft gasp, “no-one else knows you're here, do they?"
Charlotte shakes her head.
"Not even Penny?"
"This," Charlotte can't look Lola in the eyes, "this isn't the place to discuss this." But she doesn't let go of Lola's hand, "let's get lunch." She agrees, and lets Lola lead. The space between them feels like eons, and Charlotte's marveling at just how much Lola's changed, how stable she seems. She's carrying a purse, wearing a well-tailored black and she thinks she catches a glimpse of a red sole on the bottom of Lola's heels. She looks like she's got her shit together. There's still more earrings in her ears than months in the year, but Charlotte finds she's just glad Lola's not lost her personality in the modern world.
For all the internet articles and Instagram stalking Charlotte has done, none of it compares to seeing Lola before her, alive, successful, well-balanced. Of course she knows about what’s happened, all of Lola’s kids, her brief stint as Tommy’s wife and current status as one of Penelope’s legal guardians, but it’s jarring to think that only a few months ago for Charlotte - which was forty years for the rest of the world - she’d seen Lola passed out in a gutter outside of Izzy Stradlin’s house; times certainly have changed.
The cafe Lola takes her to is surprisingly rustic, and the man at the server's desk gives a warm smile before he leads both women out the back, to a more secluded back area littered with plants and sunlight, so green in the middle of the grey and blue urban jungle. He brings them a pitcher of ice water and two glasses and promises to be back after they've had time to look at the menu.
"They do a great lychee and apple juice," Lola's surprisingly nonchalant as she picks up the menu, but Charlotte's just watching her.
"They do?" And there's a hint of a laugh in Charlotte's voice, but absolute sincerity in Lola's answering nod, "you're so... grown up." Charlotte muses quietly, taking a hold of the menu on it's little wooden clipboard. Lola doesn't say anything, just makes an amused noise in the back of her throat, Charlotte's brow furrows; "you're taking this all surprisingly well."
"I've gotta say, I feel very vindicated right now," Lola smirks, still looking at her menu.
"Vindicated?"
"I knew you were somewhere, I knew you weren't dead." Finally meeting her gaze, there's that recognizable spark of mischief in Lola's eyes and Charlotte feels her heart in her throat. Lola drops her gaze again, "have you seen Penny?"
"Not in person," Charlotte admits, and finally looks to the menu, "she's so gorgeous, Lols; she smiles just like Razz." And it's said with a chuckle, which Lola echos, before humming in agreement. "I think that's kind of why I never wanted her to see me, here and now that is..." Charlotte admits, "coming back without him, it would feel right, even though I couldn't control it, you know? I don't want to... mess her up."
"I always did what was best for her, always what I thought you'd want for her," Lola tells her sincerely, before asking tentatively, "so you... you know about Razzle?" She asks gently, and Charlotte nods, sighing deeply, "I'm so sorry, Charlie."
"Don't apologise, it was, what, forty years ago?" Charlotte forces a smile, but Lola drops her menu and reaches over the table to give her hand a reassuring squeeze. Charlotte's forced expression turns sad but genuine, "I lost everyone at once, Lols, I've taken my time to grieve, I promise."
"I can't even begin to imagine what you've been through," Lola tells her, before frowning, "were- were you alone or -?"
"Peach and Eileen were are here too, still wreaking havoc, as we always do," Charlotte says with a smile, and Lola's face lights up, and then, suddenly, all at once, everything comes crashing down. In the back corner of a little, out of the way cafe, Lola, almost sixty years old, bursts into tears. She's babbling apologies, face in her hands, and the last thing Charlotte ever wanted to do was be the cause of Lola's sadness, but she's lost, trying to comfort Lola when she knows that no amount of comfort would help, that she just needed time to work through all this new information.
"Penny is older than you," Lola finally finds the words through her tears, and Charlotte's shocked into silence; strange as it is, she'd never really considered that, "how in the fuck am I supposed to reconcile these facts in my head? Because I've been talking to your gravestone for fucking years, and now you're here and you look the exact same as the last time I saw you; my oldest kid is older than you too, did you know that? The fact that you're here, looking the way you look, fuck, I know I'm going crazy, I know."
The waiter goes to approach them, but immediately turns back around to give them space.
Charlotte moves from her chair, tears in her eyes as she wraps Lola up in a hug.
"My mind doesn't believe it's really you; I know it is, because I'd know you anywhere, but it just... it doesn't make sense."
"I know." Charlotte murmurs, "I'm sorry; I never wanted to leave you guys, I promise, I promise." Which only makes Lola cry harder. "It was out of our control, Lols -"
"I know, I'm sorry I'm such a mess, it just... it doesn't make sense, and I'm just like, remembering every single time Tommy and I told Penny that you were out there, looking for her, loving her, and I was fucking right and part of me never thought I would be. We did a whole donation drive to raise money to try and find you and the girls, even though your fucking parents were telling us to let it- let it go," her head's resting on the table now, and Charlotte's got her forehead against Lola's shoulder blade.
"I'm so sorry, Lols, I never wanted to make you sad -"
"I'm just sad that you missed so much; none of us deserved that, least of all you."
"Tell me about them."
"What?" Lola's crying stops for her confusion, and she looks up; Charlotte's wiping the tears from her own cheeks.
"Tell me about all the moments; everything worth remembering, I wanna hear about them from you, not from the internet, not from a movie, from you," she paused, before giving a half smile, "or would you rather talk to my empty grave?"
"You, Charlie, fuck, always you."
