Okay but Pergolesi's Stabat Mater actually goes so hard. The incredibly slow opening and the overlap of only two voices? Literally perfection. I have embraced it. I am a stan. Sorry to the Council of Trent <3

Marvellous and atmospheric: Giovanni Pergolesi's Miserere mei, Deus (Have mercy on me, God) in C Minor. Performed by the Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford in combination with The Wren Orchestra, directed by Dr. Bernard Rose. Pergolesi's life was tragically short: he lived from 1710 to 1736. Yet he produced numerous operas and is perhaps most famous for his Stabat Mater Dolorosa, composed near the end of his life.

Giovanni Battista Draghi (Italian 4 January 1710 – 16 March 1736), best known as Pergolesi (or Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, was an Italian composer, violinist and organist.
Biography
Born in Jesi in what is now the Province of Ancona (but was then the Papal States), he was commonly given the nickname "Pergolesi", a demonym indicating in Italian the residents of Pergola, Marche, the birthplace of his ancestors. He studied music in Iesi under a local musician, Francesco Santini, before going to Naples in 1725, where he studied under Gaetano Greco and Francesco Feo among others. He spent most of his brief life working for aristocratic patrons like the Colonna principe di Stigliano, and duca Marzio IV Maddaloni Carafa.

Stabat Mater
The Stabat Mater is a 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary, which portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ's mother during his crucifixion. Its author may be either the Franciscan friar Jacopone da Todi or Pope Innocent III.[1][2][3] The title comes from its first line, Stabat Mater dolorosa, which means "the sorrowful mother was standing".[4
The hymn is sung at the liturgy on the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows. The Stabat Mater has been set to music by many Western composers.
