Turner's work was famous (or notorious, depending on your point of view) for its pre-Photoshop use of saturated color. An obituary published in the NY Times in 2017 said, "Colors took Mr. Turner into another dimension, whether they were natural or added through filters, using double-exposures, slide duplication and other techniques. "
