I am not sure it will work with Windows XP as it's very old. UFRaw did work with Gimp 2.9 version and did send high bit depth images. I tried The 0.19 build available from the UFRaw site on my 64-bit Windows 7, then to my last Windows XP install, and I was not able to get the "send to Gimp" feature to work either.įrançois Collard (a group admin) edited this topic 71 months ago. He seems to use the PhotoFlow Gimp plug-in instead (I tried it once, but I was not satisfied with it). Partha provided a compiled recent Windows version of the Gimp plug-in, but I no longer find it on his site. Maybe they believe each of them will enjoy 72 virtual virgins in the paradise of geeks… Giving up Gimp, their natural ally (though wounded to a quick death himself) and turning their back to 90% of computer users looks likes suicide, to my mind. And if I understand correctly they gave up the Gimp plug-in in recent versions. This is a pity, because UFRaw was a great software, but I think the UFRaw team who always hated Windows, like too many bearded Linux fanatics, does not provide recent versions for this OS. The standalone version is also able to "sent to Gimp", though the displayed path is simply "gimp-2.8.exe" (without quotes).

On Windows 7 like on Linux, a home-built UFRaw 0.20 version including the Gimp plug-in does the same. What happens if you try to open the RAW file directly in GiMP? I do know that if I try to open a RAW file from GiMP in Linux, it automatically starts UFRaw. I haven't used UFRaw on Windows, so I'm not sure I can advise. With that being said, my mother also thought is was pretty, well, dumb for lack of a better word, that I would just break something for my art class. It was pretty comical, in my opinion, but I was happy to contribute something that would make our set up a little more interesting. “Broken, for the sake of art!!”, my professor exclaimed. When I presented my object, I was greeted with shock that I would actually shatter something to make it interesting for a still life. Everyone brought in your typical items a bowl, a more stylized vase, some pine cones, flowers and twigs found outside, and of course, some objects from the still life shelf. After venturing over to my parent’s house and practically begging my mother for one of her vases from the plethora which is her collection, I shattered one, and brought it in to class. I thought I would alter one of those objects, and bring in something that was usually expected, but had become unexpected. It’s filled with a variety of bottles, bowls, and random objects which would be contained in your typical still life. Now, when thinking of the unexpected, anything on that shelf doesn’t come to mind. She mentioned the importance of the “unexpected”, showed us a few examples, and then said that if we were unable to think of an object, we could always borrow from the classroom still life shelf. When my watercolor professor said that the class was going to work on a still life set up and we all needed to bring something in, I started thinking of what could be interesting.
