gnosia Fear & Hunger AU 👁️👁️

Update: read my fic boy

Setsu is a soldier/knight, diving into the depths of the dungeon as part of some noble quest. They quickly run into Raqio, a knight from another country there on a far less noble of quests.

Raqio says they don't need company, they'll get by on their without some dimwit slowing them down, etc. But Raqio, while an important person from their country and pretty smart, is not actually well-equipped for dungeon crawling. They will super die if Setsu doesn't convince them to join forces.

Sha-Ming is living amongst the cave dwellers like it is totally normal. He's in their little village, just hanging out, vibing. Are there horrific monstrosities happening around him? Sure! Is he the only cognizant one around? Sure! But playing nice with the locals means he doesn't get killed. He's totally fine! (Please take him with you. He's scared. He can't live like this forever. Btw that's some nice loot you have, it sure would be a shame if someone stole it and ran at the first sign of trouble—)

Remnan is found locked up in a cell semi-deep into the dungeon. Terrible things have happened to him. He doesn't want to talk about it.

Chippie definitely tried to gain Sylvain's blessing and achieve a marriage of the flesh with one of the dungeon's beasts. It probably does not end well. And now he's a scary monster.

Jonas is one of those characters who keeps showing up periodically throughout the dungeon, miraculously unharmed. He might be one of the new gods (Stella is). He might just be uncannily lucky. But he sure is there.

Kukrushka is 100% a god, a monster, or something in between. Maybe was someone turned into a new god? Many directions to take with her, all terrifying.

Yuriko is probably running one of the many cults inside the dungeon. Gina is living in the protection of the cult too (she came with her mother) but definitely will take the first ticket out with the party if given the opportunity. (And then take a lethal hit for you Way Too Often, despite not having high HP).

I could see Comet kicking it with one of the Gro-Goroth cults, tbh. She's hanging out in the blood pits, weirdly unbothered by the gore and viscera.

Otome is a loyal creature, like the funger doggy. Shigemichi is probably just a dude who dies (sorry Shigemichi). There's so many directions one could take SQ—maybe the gods are trying to sacrifice her/have her ascend to fulfill some sort of twisted prophecy?

Open to constructive criticism, new interpretations, etc etc I just think this could be neat

Happy pride month!! I love playing video games so I thought it'd be neat to share the many many games I've played with nonbinary and trans characters >:3

Sorry in advanced I’m copying and pasting stuff from twitter ;v; Also know that many of these games ARE on consoles, but if you buy them on pc/mac use itch.io if it exists. It gives devs more money!!

VALIDATE!! There's a demo on Steam and Itch.io that you can play RIGHT NOW and also a patreon you can support and I highly suggest it ^o^ It's a lovely VN with several playable characters and rlly good writing

Extreme Meatpunks forever is so SO good omg. It's a VN/mech brawler where u be gay and fight fascists!!! Trans and nonbiney ppl are out here being badass af. The game has cws/tws built into the game ( which i love sm ) Also there's a ttrpg on Kickstarter RIGHT NOW!!

Another game with nonbinary characters is an rpg called Ikenfell! It was one of my favorite games to play last year and the music and just everything? Honestly so good I'm def replaying it this year. It also has tons of good accessibility features!

ok but i wanna geek abt ikenfell just a smidge more U DON'T UNDERSTAND 3 OF THE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS ARE NONBINARY <333 The strongest playable character also uses ze/zir pronouns and I think that's pretty epic

Ok so like literally every game I've played by @analgesicprod I've loved 100% And Anodyne 2? Everyone should go play it and I will keep saying it until everyone does. And yes there's a trans character in it <3 Drem my beloved <3 Go check it out!!

Another game studio I love is @pillowfightio !!! They worked on Later Alligator, We Know the Devil, and Heaven Will Be Mine. I highly recc all of them but esp. Later Alligator cuz like just look at Joanie. They're so cool.

In the game Everhood gender doesn't exist <3 Literally multiple characters are referred to with they/them pronouns and the gameplay is very enjoyable

CW LOTS of flashing lights and I feel like there should maybe be more cws but I'm not sure what else to add :l I guess a warning is that Everhood gets into more serious stuff and I'll be honest when the game first came out I had to put it down for several days b/c I just wasn't ready for a lot of that stuff, but I honestly liked the game a lot!

I was debating on adding this bc while I love this game there's some issues. So Gnosia is like werewolf ( or among us if you will ) but more narrative focused with time loops etc. There's two wonderful nonbinary characters and you can be nonbinary HOWEVER ( minor gnosia spoilers. skip past if you want to avoid it) . . . For some reason finding out the AGAB of one of the characters is mandatory and I fucking hate that. It's so unnecessary esp for the world building that's been done. Also tws for the game: sexual abuse / assault, gore ( in only one scene ) (spoilers end) but yeah I still added it because the characters are so neat and strong for the type of game it is and without that bit I wouldn’t feel so :/ abt recommending it. It’s pretty fun ngl

Wandersong!!! The main character is nonbiney and I love them <33 It's such a lovely little musical adventure with such a nice narrative and!! Some of the devs just released Chicory ( which I haven't gotten to play yet ;v; ) but check that out too!!

Bravery Network Online is super fun!! It's a turn based rpg that feels really good and has two characters that use they/them pronouns ( Fel and Reed ) the character designs are sooo good and the game is currently in early access!

I never thought I'd see a claymation point and click musical featuring a nonbinary detective but Dominique Pamplemousse is just that Need I say more?

A personal fav I think about every now and then is Dad fighter 30XX!! Like who doesn't wanna beat up their friend's shitty dad in the parking lot of a dennys?? Also the win music is my FAV

SPIRIT SWAP!!! By @SoftNotWeak !!!! Super chill and pretty game by lovely people with a demo you can play right NOW!! This game makes me want to become a strong magical thembo

Now that Gnosia is finally out in steam take this as an order from me to play it! (It's also on Switch btw)

Gnosia is a visual novel that was brought over from Japan last year and that has largely gone under everyone's radar, I swear this game is so underrated it's not even funny 😤

In the story, you find yourself in a spaceship with no memory of who you are, together with 4 other people. As you find out, among the 5 of you ( yes I know) there is one person infected that has now become a gnosia - a being that wants to kill all the humans on board and take over the ship while assuming the form of a human as well.

It is your job to try and find out who the Gnosia is and vote them out to send them into cold sleep! Meanwhile every night the gnosia chooses one target to eliminate

So this concept may or may not sound familiar to you, it's based on the games Werewolf and Mafia! A hidden role game where the uninformed majority has to fight against the informed minority - the gnosia!

The gameplay loop in this is that you play several of these rounds of trying to find the gnosia and vote them out, with roles being assigned completely randomly every time. You play with a pretty smart AI and have to try and find out who's the enemy while using skills to try and get the other members on your side. These individual games only take about around 15 minutes so it's very good if you only have time to play a short round and then continue sometime else!

In the story, you're literally experience a time loop which only you and a character called Setsu seem to be aware of. They act as a companion to you and helps you on your journey.

During and after rounds of gameplay, you can get special events with all of the crew members where you spend time with them and learn more about them. It's basically the longtime goal of the game to collect all the possible data you can on your fellow crew members, all with their unique design, personality, quirks and even abilities!

As you continue on your journey new members also join and the main story progresses with you as you play.

It's really such a unique experience and it's a shame that so few people have played this game! If anything at all sounds interesting to you then I would really advice you to take a look if not even buy it because it's really fun!
