I TRY not to talk about ships I dislike, but as someone who loathes R//sebird (I like polystrq because it doesn't ignore Summer and Tai's relationship), it was so, so validating to see Summer not take Raven's BS. Summer's attitude was wholly "let's just get this over with" with her.

(not discourse) but the issue i have w/ the qrow dad theory is that it wipes away the fact that ruby and yang have such a healthy half-siblingship. in media (or the majority of) half-siblings (sharing only one biological parents if you didnt know) are always portrayed to have some kind of dislike/rivalry between eachother, so seeing yang and ruby love eachother and actively be *siblings*, its nice. i have an older half brother and we have a near identical relationship as ruby and yang have (siblingship- not the fighting grimm part) and its so heart warming to see such a healthy portrayal of this

also, i think qrow being an uncle really adds to the family value that both yang and ruby need. they HAVE a loving father, they had a loving mother, they have a loving uncle. despite both losing their mother (and raven walking out before yang knew her) they had a healthy childhood, they were loved and cared for. “but qrow basically raised ruby” likely because as she got older, tai saw more and more of her resemblance to summer and very likely felt guilty over the loss of his wife. of course he still loves ruby, but he probably never had enough time to mourn her. he had two young daughters to raise. qrow raising and teaching ruby was so tai could finally grieve. of course he still loves ruby as much as he loves yang, their his daughters for god sake. qrow being rubys (adoptive) uncle means he still gets a close relationship with her, and considering the circumstances, he became incredibly close with her, and they have an important bond that would be erased if he was her father

I think that Tai being the girls’ father is neat.

A ship: As I mentioned, polySTRQ sounds cute! In terms of a canon context, I actually wouldn’t mind if Raven and Tai got back together. I’m a sucker for ships of characters with similar struggles getting closer through learning how to cope/heal together, not just through commiserating.

BROTP: I love that he and the professors sometimes hang out together. I don’t think they were very close in school, but I think Port and Tai would get along swimmingly, especially at Dad Age.

NOTP: I’m not aware of enough Tai ships to be turned off to any of them, I don’t think. Incest is never okay though 🙅‍♀️

Random HC: His Semblance is similar to Yang’s, maybe having something to do with Dust?

General opinion: It sucks that we don’t know more about him, considering that he really seems like the only stable member of Team STRQ left and is pretty high in the Dad Ranking of this show. (Including honorary father figures: 1) Ghira, 2) Ozma/Ozpin, 3) Taiyang, 4) Qrow, 5) Jacques, and an honorary mention for Ironwood in like Volume Four before shit hit the fan.) I know there’s some people with daddy issues who hate him based on that one (1) interaction with Yang in Volume Four, but I like him regardless! Her mom yeeted to another continent, give him a break.

Oof... how do you feel about CRWBY having to confirm that Qrow isn't Ruby's father in a Q&A? Miles recently said, and I quote: "Siiiiiiiiigh. Fine, haha. We get asked this question so much and normally don't like confirming things like this in Q&As, BUT... NO. Qrow is not Ruby's dad. She just looks up to him so much that she mimics a lot of things about him." (I myself am a pretty big Hummingbird fan and I was sad when I heard this lol, I still ship them tho. I was just wondering how you felt)

See I don't think creators should outright answer questions like that outside of the confines of the show. It kind of just comes across as rude, like "This is just a ridiculous assumption, that doesn't even deserved a proper in-show explanation." and when they do that by extension it makes toxic fans be like "Well, they said it wasn't canon, so you should stop shipping this now. It's never gonna happen, I'm right, you're wrong." And it just creates a toxic environment for people who just wanted to have fun playing around with an idea. At the same time I'm sure it may have been a bit awkward for them when a good bit of people subscribed to that theory that they always knew was false, but maybe didn't have plans in the nearby future to prove otherwise.

In my opinion though it doesn't really matter if Ruby is Qrow's biological daughter. It doesn't change how Ruby obviously admires him more then Tai. And it doesn't mean Summer and him didn't have a thing for each other, to me it means there's just a much more complicated backstory for team STRQ. (I mean hopefully XD)

I know a lot of Hummingbird shippers don't like Tai and don't like the idea of Summer with Tai, but honestly maybe it's my polySTRQ heart but I don't mind seeing that too. I think it makes sense that Summer came to Tai's aid when he was heart broken and utterly lost with a newborn and without Raven, and it makes sense that he would have pursued Summer at that point. She was his savior.

BUT it also makes sense that Qrow loved Summer all along but never felt comfortable telling her, whether because of his semblance or his bandit heritage. You have this character who obviously seems to represent everything good and right in the world, (Summer) and that has to be hugely intimidating for Qrow who would never feel worthy of her, let's be honest. It would also explain why Tai and Qrow seem to have a bit of a beef between each other too.

So if anything now I'm just waiting for my angsty "the one that got away" love story. LOL, I'm in this shit for the long haul, hun-bun. 😎

How do you feel about poly team STRQ?

I don't like it. At all.I understand the ships appeal and why people might be drawn to it, but I personally don't find anything about shipping everyone together (in any fandom, mind you) interesting/romantic/enticing/etc.It feels... like a cop-out ship? PolySTRQ, aside from being absurd and a massive crack ship in its own right, feels like 'Hey, I can't decide how I feel about the characters or how hey feel about each other... let's have them all date and sleep with one another!', and I really can't stand that.Then again, this is all from my own eyes and personal standpoint, so if I'm wrong about that I will own up to it. That's just how I feel, though.I'm a strict Hummingbird/Flown North and Phoenix/Tai x Raven shipper. Nothing diverging from that is attractive to me personally.Again, though, that is my PERSONAL preference and opinion to the ship. If you like it, have at it and enjoy it.
