Met deze boodschap stond onze Relatiemanager Brian Eernisse enige tijd geleden op het podium van Nederland Maakt Impact (NedMI). Het is voor het eerst in Brian zijn carrière dat hij voor zo een groot publiek mocht spreken. Wat hij vertelde was een inspirerend verhaal wat ging over het kleine diertje, de vlo. Een inspirerend verhaal met een krachtige boodschap. 

Graag bedanken wij Hoessein Alkisaei en heel team NedMI voor het organiseren van deze succesvolle topconferentie. Ook bedanken wij alle andere sprekers en aanwezigen voor de mooie verhalen en inspirerende gesprekken. Zonder jullie zou het niet zo een groot succes zijn geweest!

Being trans, being neurodivergent, being a non-human in a system all have helped me come to realize a coiple of things but this 1 thing is domrthing i struggle with still even if I know its true.

Just because something feels unnatural to you at first, doesnt mean it is un-true, or that it isnt beneficial.

What I mean by this, is that behvaiors and language we use for ourselves are skills we have to improve upon and practice.

If doing makeup or dressing in a ceetain stylr is hard, feels difficult. Or that you are faking it while doing it but the end result makes you feel really good about yourself, helps you see yourself then that is a good thing. In time it will get easier.

Using your new name or pronouns doesnt always start smoothly, it may feel awkward at first and you may mess up and misgender/deadname yourself. Heck you are bound too. But when you finally get in the groove of things and get it right, and it no longer is hard you are gonnafeel real good.

If calling my teeth fangs makes me feel better about specirs dysphoria, sure it may sound weird or silly to others, and it might not even be a natural part of MY language yet, but if I keep using the word choice and it helps me feel good even if i gotta remind myself to use it...then whats the problem.

Another headmate says waring socks and calling our feet paws, helps her.... she still has to be reminded that wearing socks makes her feel better about herself.

Making yourself feel good is a set of skill you gotta learn and hone yourself, and that will take time. And while you are practicing it will feel awkward or clunky at times but that doesnt mean its fake.
