So you guys know how the Jedi Order is filled with people from pretty much every world and species? Think about all the unique cultural things the Jedi would practice simply because the Order is basically a giant melting pot.

A Kalikori made out of Akul teeth, passed down through a lineage and carved in multiple different styles to represent the cultures of each of the lineage members.

Different Jedi taking inspiration for their cultural face tattoos from their Togruta master's lekku or their friends' facial tattoos or the designs on a Council member's cultural headdress.

Recipes that are fusion foods made of like five different cultural dishes because a group of friends all got drunk together, got the munchies, and fucked around in the kitchen until something tasted good.

Like, just everyone sharing their cultures with each other and then people adapting their cultures based on their lineages and the shared culture in the Order, shared culture being a form of expressing love and adopting someone into the Order/a lineage.

Obviously there would be things that are off limits and permission would have to be given and the Jedi would probably emphasize learning the culture before ever adapting it, but I just think that after thousands of years their would be a lot of shared culture among the Jedi.

Oh, and languages! With how many languages are probably spoken in the Order, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jedi basically spoke bastardized versions of every language mashed together---it'd probably be an always moving/changing/evolving thing that no one but the Jedi can understand because the Jedi use the Force to bridge any gaps there might be in someone's understanding.

A lot of words and phrases would be taken from Dai Bendu, just because it's my personal headcanon that the Jedi still speak it, but then it would branch out from there into Twi'leki and Togruti and Durese and everything else all mixed together.

I just...I love the idea of the Jedi having a mixed culture that reflects the diversity of the Order.

The Star Wars fandom is like a case study of what happens when you overthink media intended for children to the point that you’ve completely altered the message and plot that the creator intended. The whole “the Jedi order is evil and Anakin/Vader is the good guy!” Idea fails to take into account the fact that like.. these movies are meant for kids, they’re meant to be easy to follow and easy to understand with obvious good guys and obvious bad guys. Yknow how we know the Jedi are the good guys? - they’re the main characters, they have funny one liners, they kill the evil bad guys who have red laser swords with their blue and green laser swords, they’re relatable, they’re nice, they’re paternal, so on so forth.

I love critical analysis and I’d never speak a word against it, when we consume media we should always take a step back to consider what ideas they’re selling us, what undertones are portrayed, is this supposed to represent a real life problem? But it’s also equally as important to consider who the audience is and how that might impact the story. And ultimately the audience is children, Star Wars is not meant to be a mystery thriller where the good guys are secretly the bad guys which you can only tell when you pick the story apart 20 which ways. The movies could not more clearly tell us who were meant to support. - is it the angry guys with red swords, ugly old guy who shoot’s lighting out of his fingers and takes over the universe, people who blow up planets, chop off their kids hands and blow up planet’s? Or is it the people who wear warm coloured clothing, talk about wanting peace, who tell funny jokes, have heartfelt moments, with blue and green lightsabers, fight against the space fascists and love each other.

Ultimately, Star Wars isn’t that deep, enjoy it for what it is and I promise you’ll enjoy it 100 times more

A reminder that Bail Organa, upon seeing the Jedi Temple in flames, immediately flew straight over to investigate himself with no guards and no weapons of his own. And upon being told there was a rebellion by the clone troopers there, he attempted to walk past them and see what was happening himself.

It was only after they aimed blasters at him that Bail leaves with a newfound resolve to stop Palpatine. He didn't wait until Palpatine declared himself Emperor to know he had to do something. He knew he was bad right there.

I do love how funny it is that Star Wars keeps having villains discuss how great the Jedi are and none of it sticks in the heads of anti-Jedi fans.

Tarkin: The Jedi are too soft and never violent or ruthless enough to win battles. Anti-Jedi fans: The Jedi completely lost their way and went against their philosophies by joining and WAR and KILLING people.

Tarkin and the Kaminoans: The Jedi helped the clones learn individuality. Anti-Jedi fans: The Jedi ENSLAVED the Clones and didn't care about them or fight for them ever.

Grand Inquisitor: The Jedi's main weakness is how much they want to help people and can't stop themselves from doing so even if it means they expose themselves to their enemies. Anti-Jedi fans: The Jedi feel no emotions/repress their emotions/don't understand what they feel/think they need to refuse all feelings, and they abused an already traumatized child because they didn't care about him/wouldn't let themselves care about him.

I really hate it when people say stuff to the effect of "Jedi didn’t need to end, but the Jedi Order needed to be erased" as if those are two mutually exclusive things!

"The people who make up a culture don't need to die but their culture does" is not the profound take you think it is!

To be a Jedi is to be a part of the Jedi Order and vice versa, you cannot have one without the other, the Jedi Order isn't just an organization, it's histories, traditions, philosophy, it's a way of life, what is a Jedi without the Jedi Order!?

individuals like Ezra, Luke, or Rey who became Jedi after Order 66 are not just Jedi, they are a part of and the continuation of the Jedi Order

So I’ve been trying to find out why so many people think that the Jedi suppress their emotions, and I have a couple thoughts.

First, I’ve never felt anything weird about the way the Jedi treat and express emotions, but I’m not a very outwardly emotional person, and honestly it feels weird to see so many people react so negatively to characters who don’t express emotions “normally.”

Second, may I suggest that when we see the Jedi react to things, they aren’t suppressing/avoiding/bottling up/ignoring so much as…. reacting and processing their feelings very quickly and effectively? As a result of years of practice, training, and discipline? The mark of a very emotionally healthy person, in that they can process and then move on to decision making at high speeds? Many times we see Jedi characters quickly experience, process, close their eyes, take a deep breath, and take action, now clearheaded, and then process their feelings more deeply and fully later, when they have time.

Call me crazy, but I know for a fact that I would not want a romantic relationship if I was a Jedi.

If I lived somewhere where I was a part of a community of people that I considered my mentors, my friends, my family; if I lived somewhere where I was encouraged to learn, to travel, to help people, to enjoy life as it is, and better myself; if I lived somewhere where I was supported and loved and cared for by the community, and I did the supporting, the loving, the caring for other people in the community as well; if I lived somewhere where it wasn't constantly implied, or sometimes outright stated, that my worth was tied to me marrying a man, popping out children, and making money...

...if I was a Jedi, I can honestly say that the thought of pursuing a romantic relationship probably wouldn't cross my mind at all---not unless I met someone specific whom I felt that sort of connection with, but even then, I probably wouldn't give up being a Jedi to be with them because I'd feel more fulfilled as a Jedi than I would in a romantic relationship.

I honestly don't understand the assumption that the Jedi are miserable because they can't get married, I really don't.

If you feel like you wouldn't be able to be fulfilled without a romantic partner, then that's fine! Everyone's different! We all have different wants and needs! But just accept that you wouldn't be fulfilled without a romantic relationship and stop acting like it's impossible for anyone else to feel differently.

The Jedi all seem perfectly happy as they are.

It’s been said before but the way people treat Luke has got to be one of the worst cases of infantilisation in media ever,, sometimes it feels like people aren’t even watching the same movies because how do you watch return of the Jedi and think “yeah what a stupid twink” bro straight up chopped off DARTH VADERS hand despite having crash course training in something Vaders been doing for the past like 30yrs.. if I were Vader I’d be so embarrassed. ALSO I’m so sick of people being like “Leia is so much smarter than him she was a senator and he was playing with toy ships” buddy idk how to say this but they had VASTLY different education levels, Leias’ parents were part of the rebellion and worked in politics where she was actively encouraged. Luke grew up in hutt space where his aunt and uncle were focused on making sure he didn’t turn out like his father or get himself killed. He’s also extremely skilled and crafty?? It’s always given me a weird feeling that people think that just because he doesn’t have a formal education that he’s dumb or something.

Anyways I <3 Luke, I think he’s one of the best Jedi characters ever

I think it's so funny that there's this widespread headcanon that Anakin loves droids and droids love him because it just... has no basis in canon. Anakin likes ONE DROID throughout all of the time we see him and that's R2. He barely manages to tolerate C-3PO despite having literally programmed him, and Padme treats C-3PO with more compassion and respect than Anakin generally does. When R2 is thought lost, Anakin treats the replacement droid like shit (yes, that droid ended up a spy but Anakin doesn't know that and that's not why he treats the new droid like shit). Anakin is also shown to be a lot quicker to mow down battle droids that aren't attacking him than Obi-Wan is. He's never shown actively caring about droids in general, just ONE droid. There's nothing to prove he cares about droids as a matter of principle, either, he just happens to like R2.

By contrast, the Jedi are often headcanoned as being dismissive of droids (and sometimes as dismissive of Anakin for caring about them), when there's multiple examples of this being untrue. Ahsoka obviously also likes R2 and considers him a friend, but she's just as quick to treat his replacement well and with the same level of kindness she gave to R2. Mace makes an offer of peace to the battledroids after THREE YEARS of battle with them. And of course then there's Master Huyang, who literally holds the rank of Master within the Jedi Order because they value his knowledge of lightsaber construction so highly, and all of the Jedi are taught to treat him with the respect that deserves and they initiates all work really hard to ensure that he ALSO makes it out of Hondo's attack alive and refuse to just leave him behind.

So I feel like we should be seeing fewer storylines involving Anakin being the only person who cares about droids and the Jedi chastising him for it, and more storylines involving the Jedi literally having to remind him to respect and care for other droids, yes, even if they're annoying sometimes, yes, even if they seem broken or useless, yes, the Force flows through them too even if it feels different.

I just cannot understand why people think the Jedi being a part of the Republic and answering to the senate is so bad

"OH no! The space wizards are held accountable by a democratically elected legal authority! How terrible!"

And more importantly, it worked, for 25,000 years it worked

Why does a few decades at the very end mean the whole several thousand year system needs to be written off?

"But the senate was corrupt!"

But the Jedi weren't, they continued to do their job, it's not on them if the senate stopped pulling its weight, not to mention there were still senators who were trying to do their jobs till the very end

Not to mention how the sorry state of the Republic near its end was a product of the sith's efforts to destroy it

It continues to amaze me that people think the Jedi Order is somehow a stagnant organization, set in its dogmatic ways and refusing to change. My friends, the Jedi Order existed for twenty five thousand years before it finally fell to the Sith. You really think an organization that has lasted that long is unwilling to change with the times? Even the Catholic church, one of the most dogmatic religions in the real world, which has only existed for not even 1/10th of the time the Jedi Order did, has changed and adapted with the times.

The problem was never that the Jedi refused to change to accommodate Anakin Skywalker. The problem was that Anakin Skywalker was never willing to accept the way of life of the Jedi*.

Which, let me say, is fine! Not everyone has to be a Jedi! Not even every Force sensitive has to be a Jedi! Just like not every Catholic has to make the decision to become clergy and follow rules that go above and beyond what others have to follow. And even within the clergy there are levels of vocation! Monks don't have to follow all the rules that a priest might.

So no. The Jedi Order did not need to change because Anakin Skywalker was selfish. The Jedi Order did nothing wrong, and never once forced Anakin to live by their values. The Jedi choose to follow their path, just like the countless number of clergy throughout the world for all of our various religions.

*Caveat: Yes, Anakin was manipulated by Palpatine from a young age. This definitely influenced him, but it was ultimately his own choice not to follow the path of the Jedi, just like it was eventually his own choice to give up on the Dark Side eventually. George Lucas says it himself that it is about a person's choices.

The Jedi did nothing wrong. They didn't ""steal"" kids. They did not deserve to be fucking murdered. They weren't responsible for their genocide. They are not at fault for Anakin's Fall. They did everything they could do to help people. Anakin is responsible for his of his own actions and choices. That includes his choice to Fall and aid Palpatine instead of stop him, his choice to lead the mind controlled Clones into the Temple, his choice to lead the genocide of the Jedi, his choice to be literally the worst person in the galaxy, murder more people, and help lead and enforce the fascist Empire. Those were his choices, his actions. Not the Jedi's. Don't like it? Too bad, that's was the movies and shows literally show.

Just gonna come out and say it: Mace Windu should’ve survived and should’ve become the grandmaster of the New Jedi Order. Luke was probably not ready for that (as a Jedi. He was just knighted) and deserved to learn the traditions and cultures of the Order from a living Master
