fhhg;lsehgs just wanted to say that as one of the only galactadad writers on the platform i am absolutely obsessed with your fic. the dark matter concept is just so interesting.... i really always have it in the back of my mind !!! the mere idea of poor meta encountering a dark matter-fied version of his beloved papa is so sad to me... i love it
*Verbal equivalent of a keyboard smash* Thank you so, so much! I'm so glad that my brainworms have infected someone else and that they are lurking! Thank you!
The Dark Matter/Void/Puffball evolution thing has been in my head for ages, and I've just gotten more and more addicted to it as time goes on, I think. There's a whole other AU in my head that heavily features it, and I just... I do so very much love the idea of such a heroic character becoming the very thing that they were born to vanquish. Deteriorating as they go, marching towards certain death. It's a vicious cycle. It will never stop.
Galacta came to terms with it centuries, if not millennia, ago, but Meta has made him want to actively fight it. The abrupt shift from resignation and disinterest to terror and nauseating dread was very jarring to him.
Meta has no idea. He would be so torn up about it, regardless of when the corruption reached the tipping point, and who knows how that would go.
Hgdshkfhsdjkghfdjkhfd thank you again, I really love this fic too it's been so much fun. I am still hammering out the ending, and may end up writing like two versions because my brain is at war with itself, but it should be so fun either way.
Sending you massive good vibes and good luck with your creative endeavors! Thank you! I hope that you have a very good, blessed day! <3

Creature Feature: Werewolf
Wait, where wolf? *is tackled offscreen in a blur of fur and claws, possibly as payback for that joke*
Hello everyone, today we’re going to talk about werewolves and the slightly more powerful Ulfhedinn!
Check the tags for your warnings and look below the cut for more!
Baron Wolfstein buried his face in his hands. His heart was throbbing. Suddenly the scent of his wife's blood and the blood of his children intensified. The baron's body swelled as his muscles grew, his noble attire fell in tatters on the marble floor. 'My beloved, you... you are so hairy. You are a werewolf!' Bianca went pale. 'What about our love?' In reply she heard a terrifying roar.
Danielle Stone, The Curse of Baron Wolfstein and Other Love Stories
Witcher 1 Bestiary Entry
Wolves aren't as bad as they're made out to be. Werewolves, though – they're every bit as bad and worse.
– Elsa Vilge, archer
Werewolves are creatures with both men and wolves inside them. When in beastly form, they take the worst traits of each: the wolf's drive to kill and hunger for raw flesh and the man's cruel and calculating intelligence. A werewolf's condition comes about through a curse, and the transformations happen outside his conscious control. When he reverts to human form, he has no memory of his deeds – otherwise he would surely go mad and take his own life.
Werewolves are active at night, particularly when the moon is full. Though they hunt alone, when threatened they will summon wolves to aid them. Werewolves rarely feel the need to flee, for few adversaries put up much of a fight against them. They strike as swiftly as lightning with claws sharp as razors and regenerate any damage received in mere moments. When fighting werewolves a witcher should wield a blade covered in oil harmful to the cursed and have a large supply of Devil's Puffballs handy.
A werewolf's curse can at times be lifted, yet there is no universal, surefire method for doing this. A witcher seeking to undertake such a task must there equip himself with a great deal of patience – and sturdy armor.
Ulfhedinn? What's that, some kind of fish?
– Professor Artibus Joannes Rack, geographer, disappeared during a surveying expedition in Skellige
Ulfhedinn are a breed of werewolf found mainly in Skellige. The harsh and barren conditions of the isles might explain why they primarily hunt men and are stronger than their continental brethren. Older and particularly dangerous ulfhedinn are called vorefs. Only a few daring warriors in Skellige history have managed to defeat an ulfhedinn, and each of them is commemorated in ballads as a hero to this day.
Like werewolves, ulfhedinn and vorefs are active at night, particularly when the moon is at its fullest. Fast, strong, and amazingly resilient, these creatures kill with disturbing ease. Silver blades should be brought against them, as should Devil's Puffball. Take note that when near death the ulfhedinn becomes particularly dangerous and will attack with doubled fury, while calling on wolves to come to its rescue.
Witcher 3 Bestiary Entries
That Witcher 3 bestiary entry isn’t quite accurate; some werewolves are born and not made, and it’s possible for a werewolf to maintain control of themselves after the transformation.
There is a werewolf in the first Witcher game, but it’s completely possible to not fight him. That quest is where we get the three “traditional” Witcher universe cures for werewolfery; a shirt woven with fool’s parsley (no, not wolfsbane!), an alchemical potion that includes a virgin’s tear, or true love. Never quite mentioned how exactly the last one works out, but it eventually does after the other two fail.
If you just kill the werewolf you get a skill upgrade, but as we’ve previously established I am soft at heart.
Back to Witcher 3: There’s not too much difference between werewolves and ulfhedinn in fighting style, although the ulfhedinn you come across in Witcher 3′s main story has a couple extra wrinkles. I’m not going to talk about that one, though, as werewolves are almost common, as far as boss-like monsters go.
First thing to know about werewolves if you’re going to be fighting them: they are ridiculously fast. Yrden is very helpful in slowing them down a bit, or you could use Axii to get a few hits in or try to set them on fire with Igni. They also have a ridiculous rate of regeneration, so fire, poison, or bleeding are all options you may want to consider. Moon Dust and Devil’s Puffball bombs are also helpful, though you want to make sure you’re going to hit them before you throw. Explosive crossbow bolts will also pour on some fire damage.
The werewolf quest I’ll be telling you about today starts at Blackborough in Velen. A hunter, Niellen, has put up a desperate notice in several surrounding towns seeking help looking for his wife, Hanna.
When you arrive, Niellen and his sister-in-law Margrit are outside his house. Geralt asks for more details about Hanna’s disappearance, and Margrit will give you a couple of people you can talk to. Oddly enough, Margrit seems to have given her sister up for dead, given her consistent use of past tense when talking about Hanna.
Speaking with the people Margrit pointed you at will get you the information that Hanna and another woman walked into the woods a few days ago at dawn, and that the village has been having problems with a pack of wolves.
Head into the woods and you’ll find a pack of wolves. After you’ve killed them Margrit will show up and ask Geralt not to continue investigating; it’s obvious that Hanna was killed by the wolves, and she doesn’t want to give Niellen false hope...
(There’s another big red flag on that suspicion meter.)
You can agree to lie to Niellen for her, whereupon she’ll give you experience and money. However you don’t have to keep your promise to her in the least, and given she’s starting to look like a murderer, perhaps it would be best if we didn’t rouse her suspicions. If you want to skip the second half of this quest you can go lie to Niellen about what happened and end it but... really.
Accept or not, and continue investigating.
Near the wolves you’ll find a dead dog that was not killed by wolves. Check the blood pool nearby and head east to find a human corpse; Geralt notes this is most likely Hanna, and that she was probably killed by a werewolf. At this point, if you accepted Margrit’s offer, the quest will revive itself; if not you’ll just get a new objective.
Follow some bloody paw prints to the northeast until you hit a tree. Geralt notes that he doesn’t do heights, so you’ll have to search in a circle around the tree to see where the darn thing came down.
North again, and you’ll find a large clump of fur, which gives you a scent to follow.
Keep on that trail and you’ll find a man’s clothes and an isolated shack. Inside the shack are some scribblings from the werewolf, indicating that he’s aware of his condition and is doing his best to cope with it; he’s been trying all sorts of cures, and in the face of them not working he’s taken to locking himself up on transformation nights.
If you head out again and check around the back, you’ll find a door leading down into a cave. Hang around until midnight, get ready for a fight, and then head in. You’ll be attacked by the werewolf and a number of regular wolves once you’re far enough in.
When you’ve almost killed the werewolf, Margrit will show up and beg you to stop; the werewolf is Niellen, and Margrit’s in love with him. She claims that her sabotage of the locks on the door to the cave and leading Hanna into the forest was simply an attempt to show her sister the truth of her husband, and she was just hoping Hanna would reject Niellen so Margrit would get her chance with him.
Niellen is abruptly lucid, and he’s not only absolutely disgusted, he’s also not convinced that Margrit’s intentions were so benign. And he’s fully prepared to kill her for the harm she’s done.
Geralt gets a timed decision; either he can tell Margrit to flee while he attacks Niellen, or he can leave Margrit to Niellen.
Honestly? I go with the latter. Margrit has shown zero remorse over what happened to her sister, and is clearly still attempting to gain Niellen’s affections for herself. Even if it wasn’t premeditated murder, she’s pretty clearly a monster in her own right. And we all know Geralt’s prepared to let unintentional monsters kill the human ones. And this time he isn’t also doing it to eat up time he needs to spend in the castle with the striga (as he does in the books).
Finish the fight if you want to let the sister-killer go free, or walk out if you want to leave her to her unwilling instrument of murder.
If it’s the latter, Niellen will catch up with you before you walk too far and beg you to kill him too. He wasn’t about to let Margrit get away with what she did, but this sequence of events has led him to want his own death.
It only takes one hit.
For mechanical purposes, the experience is exactly the same, but you don’t get the werewolf mutagen if you let Niellen kill Margrit, so you’ll have to wait a little longer to craft a werewolf decoction. I still think the latter is the better story by far.

50 Follower special!                       Part 2
Welcome back! Shall we continue? Today we shall cover number 40 – 31 on my favorite game list. Here we go!
40 - Salt and Sanctuary
Tumblr media
Metroidvania is an awesome genre, and Dark Souls is an awesome game. Take these two styles and smash them together with a lovecraft vibe and you get Salt and Sanctuary. This 2D Metroidvania style game is essentially 2D Dark Souls, its stylized, has awesome levels and some amazing but difficult boss fights. With customizable characters, different play styles, covenants and all sorts of goodies, this is a game I can sink plenty of hours into.
Will I review this game? – Yes.
---------------------------------------
39 - Jak II
Tumblr media
At the time I played it, Jak II was the most mature and gritty game I have ever played. This action-packed open world third person shooter is a classic for the PlayStation 2. You play as Jak, a gun totting, somewhat foul-mouthed rebel and try to topple a tyrant while fending off an alien threat. As a kid, I felt like I was watching a rated R movie without my mom, the sensation of seeing something more mature, something you would have been grounded for. Plot twist, I did get grounded for a week…Yeah, my step dad was not the nicest person in general. Regardless, this game was fun and challenging, and I have beaten it over 4 times.
Will I review this game? – Already written but not yet published.
---------------------------------------
38 - Sly Cooper
Tumblr media
Sly Cooper is a stylish title that was another one of my first outings on the Ps2. This stealth oriented adventure game is colorful, vibrant and kinda challenging. You play as Sly, a Racoon thief who is trying to recollect a lost family treasure and avenge his father’s death. It has some glaring issues here and there sure but that does not change the fact that I love this game. I have beaten it multiple times and platinumed it on my play station 3. If you own a Ps2 or a Ps3, do yourself a favor and get this game, it isn’t expensive. It has aged relatively well and its safe for most ages.
Will I review this game? – I already have, its score was 7.8/10
---------------------------------------
37 - Final Fantasy I
Tumblr media
The original Final Fantasy was a revolutionary title that brought forth the RPG genre to the west and single handedly saved square enix from bankruptcy. You want to know what it is called Final Fantasy despite there being so many? Because the first one was going to be the last one, their final game. This turn based RPG might be basic by normal days standards but was revolutionary in the years long past. With various remakes of this classic title it is easily accessible. If you play it, play the most recent anniversary editions. Unless you truly want the original experience.
Will I review this game? – Yes.
---------------------------------------
36 - Mega Man 2
Tumblr media
Probably my favorite video game from the 80s. Mega Man 2 takes everything Mega Man 1 did and does it better. I consider Mega Man 2 to be the best Mega Man game, albeit with some competition. Mega Man 2 was my first Mega Man game and I loved it. It was tough, had great music and is very fun to replay. And of course, it is home to my favorite robot master, Metal Man.
Will I review this game? – Already written but not yet published. ---------------------------------------
35 - Resident Evil 4
Tumblr media
My first horror game and what a creepy game it was. This third person shooter takes place in the creepy woods of Spain. You play as series veteran Leon S. Kennedy on his adventure to save the president Daughter from an evil cult. Said cult is enhanced and violent by a parasite and Leon is plunged into a battle for survival. This game was somewhat difficult, and enemies can be very brutal, like the chainsaw totting Dr. Salvador or the claw wielding blind Garrador. What keeps this game lower on the list is actually the president’s daughter herself, she can be rather annoying.
Will I review this game? – Yes.
---------------------------------------
34 - Ratchet and Clank Going Commando
Tumblr media
Ratchet and Clank Going Commando is another great Ps2 game. This action-packed game is a title I have sunk many hours into. There is a myriad of weapons to use and worlds to explore. There are plenty of secrets to find and challenges to overcome. You play as the small but strong alien named Ratchet and you try to stop an evil corporation from unleashing a deadly creature upon the galaxy. This was one of the games I came close to completing 100% when I was a child. This was a fun game and another game I would recommend. It is also my favorite Ratchet and Clank game.
Will I review this game? - Yes
---------------------------------------
33 - Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2
Tumblr media
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is a video game adaptation of the first half of the anime and manga series Naruto Shippuden. This retelling is a 3D fighting game with various play styles and character types. The game has a huge emphasis on amazing boss fights. The game has great music as well and I have played through it many times. Naruto and Dragonball are among some of my favorite Japanese animations and I truly loved this game. It may not be for everyone, but its good for me.
Will I review this game? – Maybe.
---------------------------------------
32 – Starbound
Tumblr media
Starbound is a 2D crafting game that encompasses an entire universe. It cashes in on the craze of crafting games that Minecraft brought forth but its in its own merit a great game. It starts slow and kind of tough, but it gets better as time goes on. With various races to play as and weapons to use, and literally thousands of worlds to visit, this game can keep you occupied for hours on end.
Will I review this game? – Yes.
---------------------------------------
31 - Kirby 64 the crystal shards
Tumblr media
Kirby 64 is a great N64 game starring everyone’s favorite puffball Kirby. This game introduces the ability to combine various powers to create new abilities for Kirby. With various pretty levels and a fair and challenging scavenger hunt to get all the crystal shards.  This game was simple and fun to play, its cute and all, but it is also home to one of the most disturbing bosses in the Kirby franchise, a being who literally bleeds from the eye, good luck sleeping tonight folks.
Will I review this game? – Yes
