female socialization
So, I was in the mall a few days ago window shopping and whatnot and I passed a Victoria’s Secret filled with young girls, like 8-13 years old. And I swear I’ve never felt that level of discomfort and uneasiness in my life. Seeing little girls holding up lingerie and thongs was incredibly jarring to me, even though my mother let me do the same thing at their age. What made it worse was that a group of boys the same age was across lined up to play mini-golf.
Anyways, I was talking with someone about it, and they simply said that’s a normal part of growing up for girls. But what’s the equivalent for boys? Why is sexualization an acceptable part of girlhood? Why do girls’ clothes start turning into crop tops and short shorts when they get into double digits (sometimes even before that), but boys’ clothes stay the same?
When women say makeup and sexy clothes are empowering and actually feminist, look at the world around us.

i wish that all the actresses who disclosed their past history of being sexually assaulted were greeted with the same unconditional support that is universally being granted to brendan fraser right now

'Classic radblr authors' and not just 'radfem authors' because not all of them are/were radfems, but they are feminist authors popular here :) If you've read feminist literature before reading any of the authors mentioned, pick the first radfem reading. If not, pick the first 'general' / second wave feminist reading!

me and my friend did a test by going on the whisper app and saying we were 16 and it is eye opening to see how many men were quick to start up sexual conversations. over 100 men replied. only men. about 80 of those interactions started with "whats your cup size", "are you a virgin", "whats the kinkiest thing youve ever done".
its disgusting how many pedophiles there really are. these men are not a minority. these men are fathers, brothers, teachers, doctors, and they are everywhere.

"Men who want to support women in our struggle for freedom and justice should understand that it is not terrifically important to us that they learn to cry, it is important to us that they stop the crimes of violence against us"

I don’t think a lot of radfems realize that tras genuinely think that we are going to commit genocide against them. Like, completely unironically. I was listening to one of Behind the Bastards’ episodes in the history of genocide and they went on a twenty minute detour to talk about how criticizing the medical industry’s approach to gender non conforming kids, and how hormones are basically just thrown at anyone who is vaguely dysohoric is one step away from the Nazis sterilizing and killing the disabled. I’m not even exaggerating, they straight up said that terfs talking about how the medical industry has mishandled dysphoria and gender non conformity is directly leading to a trans genocide. This is a relatively mainstream and popular podcast, and my eyebrows just went up and up while I listened to this segment. They barely even mentioned the right wing’s attacks on everyone who doesn’t agree to gender roles, especially and particularly women, they went straight to blaming it on the evil feminists. Im just fucking tired.

it’s kind of insane that when i talk about all of the issues with the makeup industry and plastic surgery that people will agree with me but the second i say that i’m against them both, they get so defensive. like you can agree how makeup and plastic surgery can be harmful and are examples of the way women’s bodies are commodities and only exist for male consumption and you get mad when i say i don’t think people should wear makeup or get plastic surgery??????

Women who joke about other women having 'roast beef/fishy' vaginas are the biggest pickmes. It's one of the lowest insults men use on women. It's the same as women playing into the 'I bet it's bubblegum pink' trend.
It's gross and misogynistic. stop.

Something I’ve noticed about TIFs is how often they have this kind of overly happy, childish manner.
They make these ‘get top surgery with me’ vlogs where they’re packing their bag for the camera as if they’re going on a fun trip, when they’re getting life altering surgery. Their whole manner of speaking in these videos is so over the top, dumbed down and honestly stereotypically feminine.
I remember watching a ‘top surgery reveal video’ back when I was deep into all of it. While this TIF was getting her bandages off she said “I’m a very brave boy,” and the nurse said “yes, you are a brave boy.” This was an adult woman.
It very much comes off as if they are trying to escape reality through this childish way of thinking and presenting, and everyone around them just coddles them.
