reid was mostly very curious. cassidy was very lonely but on a surface level seemed to be managing just fine on his own and he had his little quirks and it made reid want to know more about him. later it turned out that this initial curiosity was most of his attraction to cassidy, so while he might have been in love with him a little bit it was never enough to actually start a relationship with him. and yet they were together for like three years. aha x

reid did! asked cassidy out for dinner one night and cassidy, who was never asked along for dinner with his colleagues, was very excited about it and said yes <3 and then only later that night he realized it had been a date but he was also very excited about that so they kept going on dates from that moment on and got together pretty quickly. maybe too quickly. part of why it didn't work out in the end aha x
