Leave those poor Koroks alone!!!!
Players have only just begun to scratch the surface of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but are already being quite inventive with their builds. The teaser trailer and release date for the Five Nights at Freddy's movie adaptation dropped, and it'll arrive in theaters just in time for Halloween. A new eye-popping episode of Helluva Boss is here, and, well, can someone give Stolas a hug? There's only one episode of Succession left, and fans can't wait to see where the Roys end up. @wearewatcher launched a new show, Mystery Files! Welcome back, Ryan and Shane. Finally, there was a delightful celebration on 9-1-1: Lone Star. This is Tumblr's Week in Review.

So it's my birthday and that means it's also the two year anniversary of me coming onto Tumblr :D it's been a blast and as this is what I did yesterday I want to shout out some of the wonderful people I met and friends I made on the way.
@supremestrangeness whose a brilliant writer and always seems to know how to carry a story endlessly yes...anding my silly whims and ideas. Nat loves the eldritch mess (in all his forms) and I am incredibly glad and ever greatful for your friendship!!
@cherryfinolahobbes anyone who says OC's shouldn't be part of fandoms should go and check out this blog right here. I don't think I've ever seen a muse woven through a fandom with so much care. The mun is just as wonderful, ever patient and happy to listen to my antics while go tackling house hold tasks. I wish we would chat more. I need to make more time for that!! (Also she's got brilliant recepies and food tips, honestly how can you not love that?)
@strxngemxgick I know this muse and mum haven't been around for a while. But they are such an infinitely wonderful and talented person. They've sparked my joy for artistic language and long form posts when there's a partner that matches the enthusiasm and length. I got to explore a softer side and more tragic stories with Nat in all our writing ant it is truly delightful. I hope they will one day decide to come back but even outside of Tumblr the mun is always considerate and so supportive. I'm always happy when they have a minute to chat.
@prplhawk As a fellow country person I am so happy you go along with all the silly AU ideas with a snap of the finger. The mun is amazing and such a flexible writer they catch their muse from silly moments to full fledged angst blood and gore. I miss you!!!! Let's write more crazy AU things!!!
@resignedworkaholics I've literally known nothing about James Bond when I met this lovely Q. And somehow a whole new spy world AU was born. I love the adorable sillyness of these two so much and I'm truly happy we get to write these stories. I know you've got tons going on. But I hope you're well and know you can reach out at anytime.
@ssolessurvivor If you ever need a friend. Logan is the one to call. Again. An amazing OC built and laced into so many worlds with a flexibility that still makes my head spin. I'm having so much fun with this wonderful little flirty friendship thing we have created and I can't wait for you to come back. I hope your wedding goes amazingly and you have the best honeymoon!!!
@seesbetterfromadistance My very first writing partner on this platform. Then he forgot about me XD but that's fine. Part of a very big platform and coming back after a while. I adore your Clint and the way you capture him so effortlessly! The mun is also amazingly talented in his craft and I love it when you share all your fotographs in an excited spam even though I can't always answer simultaneously. I hope that whatever is happening you keep that joy alive :) I don't think I've ever met a person this excited about a cactus in bloom and I am so glad you took me along for the ride (because I was very excited about that cactus then too!!!) I wish you well and hope you return for more writing shenanigans sometime :)
@smertzimy I miss our found fur family. Especially with these two tragic characters. They deserve all the love (and pets) they can get. Watching Eurovision this year has been a blast with the great commentary provided XD and I hope that it will be just as great next year. The mun always finds the greatest memes and pictures and the icons are on point!! I hope you have the grandest time and we find more of it to write again.
@esotericdescent / @thiefofcrows Is absolutely amazing! Please go check out his multimuse if you are even remotely interested in the eldritch and supernatural. But on top of that he is my Main Kaz Brekker (yes I write Inej Ghada on a different blog but this is my blog and my birthday and I get to shout about how much I love whomever I want for as much as I want here.) He is incredibly talented and I adore plotting with him. I am a massive Crows / Literature fan / overall nerd and this mun gets to suffer through it all and meets it with the greatest enthusiasm. I love the stories we built and the complexity I get to write without ever having to think twice if 'its alright to write this' because fuck yes it is!!! Thank you for your friendship and support of all the fun ideas and picture spams you get :)
------------------------------------
Regardless of this up there. Thank you if you've stuck around, written, discussed, interacted and lived with me through another crazy year. The world isn't any easier but I know there are safe spaces and people to escape too. Be kind to each other and have a great day. I'm certainly planning on enjoying today to it's fullest (as I try with other days even if it isn't always easy)

the juries got what they wanted. not just a eurovision icon winning for a second time, but also a "historic moment" for the second person to win eurovision twice. and yes, i've been saying on my blog again and again that the juries rigged it specifically so that loreen could be that "second person". that's why catherine tate mentioned johnny logan while announcing her votes. it's all intentional.
had i not been on the tumblr side of eurovision fandom i would've celebrated. obviously this is a historical moment, it's a moment that literally happens once in 30-35 years. but it's 2023, not 1987. we have televoting, we have easy to access fan communities, we have a crowd of fans unifying with a "cha cha cha" chant. i have no idea what it was like in the 80s with logan. was he considered especially iconic from 1980 on? or did the second win solidify his eurovision legend status? the event was certainly calmer: so maybe that's the case.
if so, another way this hurts for us is how, as mentioned, the victory feels engineered. before logan, other winners had returned and even gotten high rankings. everybody was judged on their song's and their performance's merit, so his double (actually triple) win felt more natural. even the irish win streak his third win started has more to do with language than what led to loreen's victory: fandom. after her victory, she amassed such a fandom among eurovision followers that had she returned at any year, she would've won. this isn't the case with other winners: let me know if there's a counterargument to the "eurovision winner fandom" theory.
(btw this is the exact same problem i have with alexa's victory on the american song contest. none of the other contestants had a chance when she had the backing of the enormous kpop fandom and the contest was niche otherwise.)
käärijä in my head is of the same caliber as manga, representing my home country of turkey in 2010. both legendary runner-ups. that, and national bias. i'm pretty sure he'll be even better regarded in the future
thanks for coming to my ted talk

Okay fuck it might try to return here again since I am still so very deeply obsessed with Our Flag Means Death and my interest in Eurovision has been waning since certain events and I'm tired of trying to tone down my current obsession on my main (mostly ESC) twitter and honestly the best place to share thoughts and just go feral over a tv show is still tumblr so might try to stick around here again lol

My thoughts regarding the esc 2023 final/results
Okay, I’ve had some time to think about this (and actually sleep a bit) and this is my (probably a bit disorganized) thoughts on the situation. (I’m from Sweden, so I’m a bit biased, but I’ve done my best to give a fair answer/judgment to everything that I’ve seen)
1. The blatant misogyny and racism
The amount of misogyny and racism directed toward Loreen that I’ve seen is truly disgusting. I’ve read things that seemed like direct quotes from the Swedish democratic party (aka the racist party) and that’s never, ever okay. It’s completely fine to dislike the song/the number/the singer we still need to treat them with the bare minimum of respect.
2. This is not the first time (and probably not the last)
This is not the first time a former winner is back. A recent example (that I also have seen other people talk about here) is Alexander Rybak who returned in 2018. I’m well aware that he didn’t win but he did win his semi-final and was, for a while, one of the favorites that year. And I don’t remember people campaigning against him for a whole week for that? I have seen some people talk about how his entry was fine since it was clear that he “didn’t even try to win and was just having fun”. I can’t find any source confirming this but I can find one interviewwith Loreen where she says that winning again wasn’t her main motivation for returning. And still, I see Loreen being accused of only caring about winning and being annoyingly “fake humble” (again, see 1).
Also, quite a few times in the past ten years, the televoting winner and the overall winner have not been the same. For example, the last time Sweden won, Måns only came third in the televoting category and this hate storm was mysteriously silent. Same thing 2016 and 2019, when Jamala/Duncan won in neither the televoting nor the jury votes but still won overall.
3. What is Eurovision about and who is it for?
Finland’s entry this year (and most years to be fair) is funnier than Sweden’s. Tattoo is not meant to be a funny song and Sweden generally sends more “normal” (or boring, if you prefer that word) pop songs rather than the more colorful, camp songs that most of us fans have come to associate with Eurovision. Do I think Esc would be more fun if we actually tried to send songs like that? Yeah, I do. I’d love for that to be a thing. Unfortunately, as esc works right now, it’s not the most “effective” thing to do if you want to win. As boring as it is, the more “normal” pop songs generally perform better than the more camp/crazy/creative ones.
We also need to remember that most of the 200 million viewers aren’t us. They are not live-blogging the whole show on Tumblr. They causally follow the show, most of them probably watching only the final. To call Tattoo “jury bait” is fine, cause it’s 100% true. To call it “normie bait” is less so. It implies that those more casual viewers (who might prefer music similar to “normal” pop rather than “classic esc camp”) don’t have the same right to an opinion as the “true esc fan” (whoever that might be). It also brings us to the question of how to identify that true fan. OGAE (the network of esc fan clubs) perhaps, who organizes the OGAE fan poll each year? But since Loreen won that one this year, I’m guessing that’s not a solution that’s good either.
Yes, Käärijä won the public vote (with quite a big margin) but Loreen came in second place and to act like everyone who voted for her doesn’t deserve to have an opinion is trying to silence quite a lot of people.
4. Was Eurovision rigged?
You all do realize that some of you sound a bit crazy, right? We clearly did not bribe the jury nor (do I believe at least) was this whole thing planned before the competition began. At best (if you want a conspiracy), Melfest (Sweden’s national competition) was rigged so that a “good artist” (in this case Loreen) would win with a very ESC-friendly song so that Sweden could have the highest chance possible of winning. Do I think this was the case? No. I don’t have any proof that our television network didn’t plan this. At the same time, no one else has any proof that they did.
5. So what now?
Loreen played by the rules and won. You are allowed to think the rules (the jury) suck (I can assure you that several Swedes hate the international jury we have at our Melfest each year). Should the rules change? I’m open to that. The rules have changed many times before and it might be high time for another change. There’s certainly much to gain in terms of goodwill by removing the jury right now. Also, kick out Israel while you’re at it. The fact that they’re still allowed to compete is disgusting.
TLDR; If you want to criticize Loreen (or anyone else), do it without being racist or misogynistic. Remember that former winners have been back before and that other entries than the televoting winner have won before. Realize that we Tumblre fans might not be the typical esc viewer. I personally don’t see how esc could have been rigged for Sweden to win and I do believe Loreen (and Sweden) played 100% by the rules, but I can agree that if those rules cause this much outrage, they might be due for a change.

(sending an ask because you turned off replies on the post)
Re: Finland not having to foot the massive bill for hosting Eurovision next year
Thank you for spelling it out like that. I kind of knew that hosting Eurovision was expensive, but I didn't appreciate just HOW much it is. Even though it would have been lovely to see Eurovision return to Finland, it's better for sweden to host it.
Thanks! <3
Thank you so much for being nice about it (I'm too used to seeing hostility on tumblr :-\). And I agree wholeheartedly.
Mainly what I'm saying is: there's no need for any of Finland's fans to feel indignant/sad, because for all intents and purposes, Finland won! With an asterisk? Sure. The asterisk is a comfy lounge chair to sit in, a mug to sip from, and binoculars to look at either sleep-deprived organizers running panicked circles and wailing, or burlap sacks full of 500 kronor banknotes being dunked into a bottomless abyss. :))

Saturn in Pisces Season : My Top 20 Saturn Returns to watch out for
Tumblr media
Amazon, Ebay, Yahoo!, The dot com Bubble, AOL - The Internet, as a profitable, mass market thing. Basically.
Ariana Grande
The Anglican Church Ordaining Women Priests - A group of conservative arch-bishops split off a few weeks ago over gay marriage. The Church has been struggling to hold together and this'll be a test
The IBM Simon (The first smart phone) - I feel like smartphones have been the standard tool people have for so long. A lot of this tech, like QR codes etc are having their saturn return. All these technologies were stress tested in the pandemic and we seem to be seeing a new generation of technology emerge.
Dua Lipa - She can be off the wall sometimes and often fun. I'm rooting for her to come out of this strong.
New Labour - Tony Blair's whole scheme of a non-left wing Labour Party is back again with Starmer. Blair was doing it in a world where people were talking seriously about how history and ideological politics may well be over. Starmer is doing it in a world where people are talking seriously about groups they'd like to genocide and whether we need a revolution.
Pokemon - I just think this is a neat franchise.
The Spice Girls - I loved them as a kid, I grew to see them as boring and mainstream and now we appreciate them again as a culture I think.
Jerry Heil - My favourite Ukrainian singer! Before the war she started to want to be seen as more serious and less "singing songs about Ukraine's version of deliveroo while dressed as a hot dog". While a refugee she's been doing her best and most musically interesting work. She failed to win a place in Eurovision for this year, and *now* after all that, she's starting her Saturn return.
Friends - It's a shit TV show. It's been re-evaluated a lot but it's still had a place as just something people watch. I feel this might be set to change.
If you think about it, a Saturn return is basically the time from birth to having to get serious about things. For business and innovation, its about the length of time it takes to go from being a hot new thing to being very very much part of the establishment. For media, it's about the time things take to go from retro to vintage.
Actually, that's the key to this whole thing, isn't it? If you have a piece of media coming up to its Jupiter return its retro, nostalgic, quirkily outdated. See all the YouTube videos about the history of Tumblr. about 12 years ago is a fun gap.
At 29 years, it's not a fun gap. If you learn about things from back then, you have to learn about cultural and historical context. It become academic. It gets serious. Jupiter is fun, Saturn is more serious.
The other day I walked past some kids playing music from the early 90s really loud. They must have been proud of it because they were blaring it out so loud for the whole world to hear and trying to look cool. I accidentally laughed in their faces because the music was... just the most shit boy band garbage of the time. But now, it's vintage and serious, I guess.
I wonder what terrible elements of 2023 culture people will be treating with reverence by 2052

I have some new followers so I guess it's time to do another little presentation post 😌
About me
Hi! My name is Keagan, but also Clémentine (my birthname - you can use both, you can call me Clem too). I am currently 34, I live in France (in the south), and I am a graphic designer and illustrator - and hopefully in a couple months aspiring web designer 🤞
I am a proud bisexual & greysexual (I'll often just say "ace").
And I am nonbinary: I think genderfluid - I identify as woman sometimes but many other times this just makes me feel like it's not really me, it doesn't quite fit. I identify sometimes as a woman - I identify with what women experience also, I am a feminist and my experience is one of a woman, and although I don't identify as woman most of the time I feel to be part of it - and most of the time as nothing at all.
Edit, I forgot the pronouns : she/they (elle/iel or ael in french); I don't have preferences, but I've been called "she" all my life and very rarely experienced being addressed with "they" so I'd really like people to use it more. 😊
Also I am disabled: I am autistic - not diagnosed yet but I have just started the process of getting it diagnosed. I also have dyscalculia, and chronic pain (my squeleton is sliiightly crooked, not much but enough to cause me immense pain 🥲 - in knees, back, and hips) - I also have generalised anxiety disorder and depression. And I am short-sighted and I have tinnitus, and a couple other things.
I have been touched by a bitch of a fairy at birth I tell you 😂
I am very open about all of this so if you happen to need someone to talk to about those subjects, I'm here, I can't provide answers but I can share my experiences.
About my blog(s)
I have a blog for my art here: @keagan--ashleigh ; both are me, I've just put an extra dash as to not confuse people when they see 2 usernames interacting with them 😅
I have been on this blue hell since 2012, at first I had an aesthetic blog but it very quickly became a social justice blog, and I created a side blog (this one) for fandoms, at first mainly spn, then BBC Sherlock, and although I kept the title and decorum it returned to its multifandom/multisubjects state.
I also talk about other subjects occasionally, it's not a one-subject blog, I often blog & reblog funny stuff, social justice, etc.
I occasionally post in french but I have associated Tumblr with english strongly - I will maybe introduce a bit more of french in here idk.
I usually liveblogs Eurovision, the past years I have been doing that on Twitter bc it's hard to livetweet and liveblog at the same time but if twitter goes down I'll come back here lmao. And on twitter I also sometimes livetweet Top Chef in french but I might to that in here as well if I can't on Twitter idk - is there an audience for that here idk 😅
Most of my french specific stuff where on twitter, like I said I have associated tumblr with english and international stuff, and I don't know how I'll gonna get my french internet experience back in tumblr, we'll see but maybe you'll see more of my french specific stuff in the future, or I'll make a third side blog idk yet.
Worth to note I have a tagging system on both my blogs - and I tag the spoilers (unless for some reason I forget).
I often vent in the tags - it was, in this regard, better when ops couldn't see the tags in their notifications :o) I feel exposed now 😭
My ask box is always open.
About fandoms and opinions
My fandoms are: BBC Sherlock, Supernatural, Marvel, Our Flag Means Death, What We Do In The Shadows, Good Omens, Doctor Who, etc
My favorite ships: johnlock, destiel, Aziraphale & Crowley, lokius, nandermo, gentlebeard, 13th & Yaz, etc
About opinions and discourses:
I am a ship and let ship kind of person but that doesn't mean I approve of everything. I will never use the terms proshipper/anti because those words have been bastardised and the definition changes everytime I see it show up - so it's better if I just tell you what I like and don't like: I do not like incest ships, I do not like pedo ships, I am not against the fact of writing about those things but I don't like them being romanticised and glorified even. And no I don't think "it's ok because it's fiction" - whether it be fanwork or else what is written or shown in fiction has an impact on the real world, always, in a positive or negative way.
I will not engage in discourses about that though because it is tiring and useless.
I will not engage in ageist discourses either because - yes I think it's stupid to say fun has an end for people when they reach 30 but time will prove ageist people wrong and it's just sound stupid to me to have fights with literal kids over this. I'd rather enjoy my shit in my corner and not bother or be bothered by any of this.
I see a lot of ageism and condescendance from older people as well and I don't like that, being young doesn't mean people's inputs and opionions are wrong. About the fact joy must end at 30, yes, but cutting the discussions short (on various subjects) with "young people are so prude now / they don't enjoy anything/ yadda yadda"... no. No let's not do that. Times are changing and maybe some things we thought were ok then are not ok now and before we shut them up I think maybe we should listen and question what we think is true, let's not become the boomers of this generation ok, let's keep our minds open and be critical of ourselves first, we might at worst expand our worldview. And of course it goes both ways. Respect goes both ways.
At large, I will mostly enjoy my stuff and not engage with negativity, i do not have the mental health to deal with that, if people are wrong let them be wrong in their corners. Not saying I will never engage in any sort of argument but I'd rather stay away from most (especially those 2 I mentioned). I will never stop criticise mofftiss and Sherlock s4 though 😂
I also do not like ship hate.
I am uncomfortable with shipping real people but I am not against it of course do as you please as long as you don't overstep & be rude with the real people you're shipping.
And also, if I see someone implying a real person is "queerbaiting" because they appear queer & bully them into coming out I will virtually slap you in the head, ok, real people don't queerbait, period.
Last thing: I stand with the L, the G, the B, the T, the A, and all the other letters of that beautiful acronym so if you don't include trans people and ace people: please begone. :)
And also I try to be inclusive, I will not overstep and speak above other communities but I will try my very best to listen and forward those people's voices. I will not engage in discussions/arguments I am not meant to be a part of. I will try my best to take my part in making bigots feel unwelcome.
This blog, and all my accounts here and elsewhere are meant to be safe spaces for LGBTQIAP+, POC, disabled people, etc.
About me (again) - hobbies & creation
I happen to make fanarts, and I write fanfics and ficlets, I also do fanplaylists. Writing is one of my hobbies beside drawing, I also do photography, and I have recently started sculpting too. I love creating stuff so I often make little things, like I can sew, craft stuff, I do bullet journaling, etc.
Like I said I'm a professional artist, you'll find all the infos on my other blog but basically : I draw fantasy art, mostly women and feminine people.
I love science (astronomy and astrophysics in particular), arts, cats (I have 4), animals in general, I love music (I have eclectic tastes, I like rock, metal, classic, pop, jazz, etc...), I love to read & watch movies and shows (also eclectic but I love SFFF and horror the most).
---
Voilà, I guess it covers the basis of who I am and what this blog is. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the ride (if you don't it's ok, just don't be rude). 🥰

This was 2022
What did I do in 2022? The year in review, from me to you.
2022 has been eventful for me. I got a new job and seemingly a new chronic illness?? So it’s been up and down. As far as my hobbies go w/r/t this blog, things have been a little slow, perhaps due to the aforementioned factors.
In my capacity as a scanlator of video game comics, I did publish that holy grail manga that I’d been longing for: the comic adaptation of the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie. There was also the Famicom Manga mini-comic for Zelda 1. And that’s it. I’ve been gradually working on a Diddy Kong Racing 4koma volume, which might be released next year but at the rate it’s going I don’t want to make any promises. My filehosting account being taken down was a setback for making my work on comics available but I managed to get all of it up in various places, in particular maintaining my page on Mangadex. Also, recently my incredible spouse has helped me establish my own website! It’s a work in progress (and not really ready for public viewing just yet) but I wanted it primarily as a convenient way to browse my scanlations as well as a hub for my other hobbies. This Tumblr is not going away, I just felt I needed something more permanent.
I’ve continued creating pixel art cast portraits and posting them here as well as on DeviantArt. This year I did some Zelda, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings along with a few shows, as well as updating the big Donkey Kong collage (now up to 327 characters!).
Podcasts? Just a few. 1 new episode of the Donkey Kong Arcade Era Power Hour with Gibbon, and 3 Eurovision commentaries. I kept a consistent streaming schedule, with 48 almost-weekly streams of various retro and indie games. Doing these makes me happy, and I covered a few queer-themed Itch bundles, cracked DSiWare emulation, continued delving into Donkey Kong fan works and bootlegs, and explored the fringes of Sonic and Lord of the Rings games, among many others. The streams are all archived here.
In my regular gaming habits, I did a big bonanza of Lord of the Rings-adjacent games. This was really interesting and culminated in a month spent in the still-running MMO originally from 2007. Aside from this I played the modern Doom games, a selection of cat and primate games, all of the 2D Dimps-developed Sonic games, more Picross, and some cool LCD and self-contained game units (more on that in the new year as well). I’ve also just hacked my 3DS in the last few days, which opens up possibilities for some region-exclusive titles becoming available to me.
And now the awards show. “Best not-Donkey Kong game”: Marsupilami: Hoobadventure (also wins “best post-launch update” for adding a new free world). “Best open world”: Lord of the Rings Online with the surprise upset; in my hot take opinion, Elden Ring would’ve been better without an open world...! Middle-Earth: Shadow of War was also a runner-up. “Most improved sequel”: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King console game. After playing The Two Towers for the first time this was a big step up. Runners-up are Shadow of War again, Anodyne 2, Sonic Advance 2, and Sonic Rush Adventure. The Toejam & Earl games were too different to compare fairly. “Best co-op game that we haven’t finished yet so I haven’t reviewed”: Darksiders: Genesis. Runner-up is Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga. Look at what just arrived! 🎉🎉🎉
I consider this an early Christmas present 🎁
Anyway, I read so much about Hunger Pangs by Joy Demorra (@thebibliosphere here on Tumblr) that I decided to read and you know, I absolutely adore the fact that it came also in the less explicit edition - so much admiration for you, Joy, I do not know many authors, if any, who did it.
I am not big on the erotica side of things, so the Fluff and Fangs edition will be perfect for me ❤️

ESC250: my top 10.
For those who don't know, ESC250 is an annual countdown of the top 250 best Eurovision songs as voted by Eurovision fans and takes place on the last day of the year by the Belgian radio station ESCradio (that radio also only plays Eurovision songs and songs related to the contest 24 hours a day).
Starting in November, Eurovision fans who are interested in participating (or know about the event) vote for their top 10 songs via the escradio website and rate them from 1 to 12 points (just like in Eurovision). That's all compiled and ranked from 250th up to 1st place (which has been Loreen for the past 10 years) by how the points each song got. Rather simple, really. And you get to listen to so many hours of (mostly) top nocte eurovision songs. But then again, I love eurovision so there truly aren’t that many songs on the list that I truly don’t enjoy.
ESC250 lasts about 12 hours, if I remember correctly, while ESCradio plays all the songs that made that chart that year, while eurovision fans tweet their reactions and stuff to the results under the hashtag #ESC250, and most of them have a pretty good time. At least I do. This is one of Eurovision fandom's joyest moments on Twitter.
The Eurovision fandom may be quite dramatic and argumentative on twitter (and other places) most days of the year... but   I find most, if not all fandoms, on most parts of the internet to be dramatic and argumentative so 🤷 and I've been a kpop fan for over 15 years so I'm used to things. And I know, after many years on twitter and tumblr, to create my own little bubble and just stay there.
I personally love to make list and blog about them, so since I had a list of the songs I was going to vote for in ESC250, I decided to blog about it as well. As usual, I usually just go by which songs I have listened to the most this year; with the top 2 songs from this Eurovision year and then the older Eurovision favs that I kept returning to this year. There are always some changes from year to year to my list, but there are songs that haven't left the list since I started voting in 2020.
1 point -  Forogj Világ!
Tumblr media
This is the sort of sound that I enjoy probably the most in eurovision. That and anything remotly disco or upbeat fun nonsense. The energy of the performance, the atmosphere, the beat, the dancing is just all *chef's kiss* it's showing your culture and traditions through a song. This is one of the many reasons why I love eurovision. Idk where else I would find this sort of song.
2 point - Dancing Lasha Tumbai
Tumblr media
At certain point I almost replaced this song with Under the Ladder or Solovey... but Dancing Lasha Tumbai is both so iconic and I wanted to have more songs that weren't from 2017 and up on the list, so I decided to choose that instead of Under the Ladder. The opening line alone; 'Hello everybody, my name is Verka Serduchka, Me English, Nicht versteht, Let's speak dance!' is just enough to put me in a good mood. Which is what I have surely needed this year.
(Also... Russia goodbye!)
3 points - Minn Hinsti Dans
Tumblr media
I wouldn't say that try to be a little patriotic and vote for at least one Icelandic song, but somehow it does tend to happen. and I mean, hey! Minn Hinsti Dans is undoubtedly one of the most iconic songs we have ever sent to Eurovision. It changed the history of Eurovision a bit, according to a whole bunch of people, and is just a very good popsong in all sense of the world. And probably my favorite Icelandic Eurovision song. Or one of them. I am so freaking proud of this entry in the contest and the fact that we did that. This tiny little island sent this to eurovision.
4 points - Occidental's Karma
Tumblr media
I think I've voted this song every year that I've voted in ESC250 and there's a very simple reason for that; This is one of my all time favorite Eurovision songs. There is something so pleasant and cheerful about Gabbani's performance, especially on the Sanremo stage (there was something lackluster about the whole thing at eurovision for some reason) and I really just enjoy the energy of it and just the vibes. It makes me so happy just listening to it.
5 points  - Stripper
Tumblr media
Europe didn't appreciate him, the eurofandom didn't appreciate him, but I have to help my man get high in the list, because even though he didn't make it to the finals this year despite bringing the best performance of Eurovision 2022. He deserves to be at least in the top 100 in ESC250. I was having so much fun with him just doing Eurovision and just the whole process of it. I regularly watch his performance on youtube and just kind of giggle to myself 'omg, I can't believe Achille Lauro actually went to Eurovision.' And damn, it was enjoyable ride. Truly the highlight of the 2022 eurovision season, and therefor he is on that list.
6 points - øve os på hinanden
Tumblr media
This is the second year in a row that this song has made it onto my list and something tells me it will undoubtedly be there next year too because I just love it. For me, this song just gives me an extra serotnin boost every time I listen to it. I think it's wonderful. This song is just ✨ good vibes ✨ and it's also just what I'm looking for in music. Especially with my anxiety the way it has been. I'm here to have fun, find something new, that makes me smile and just to get exited baout. And in general I think that's what music is supposed to do. Make yourself feel something. That's what Eurovision is all about. Not streaming numbers or if my favorite is doing better in the odds or whatever. It's about having fun and finding new music that you like.
7 points - Fulenn
Tumblr media
I know it's just eurovision and not that serious... but Fulenn deserved better than 17 points in the final this year. This song gradually became my favorite song of the year, sort of around on the Eurovision week. I just think that a folky-rave song in a minority language is just something that just captures the spirit of Eurovision so well. This is what I want to see in Eurovision. This was my fav song out of all the songs in eurovision 2022. And even if it didn't place high in the final, I shall try to let it be high on the ESC250.
8 points - Hajde da Ludujemo
Tumblr media
This is a song that I remember listening to a lot on back in the day, on one of those 'best of eurovision' CDs I had as a child and then I forgot about it when I wasn't so much using those CDs anymore. And then it came on #EurovisionAgain (which is also a twitter thing... sort of) and it was almost love at first listen again. Love this song, love the performance, love everything about it. For the three minutes you're about to listen to, or watch, it's just so camp and fun. This song is just pure joy to me.
10 points -  Spirit in the Sky
Tumblr media
Keiino is a gift that keeps on giving. Is Spirit in the Sky become one of my all time favorite Eurovision songs? Yeah, it is. How could it not be. This song, like Shum, is what Eurovision is about. It captures the Eurovision essance so well, I think and just the Eurovision joy so well. It's just so lovely. I can't listen to Spirit in the Sky and not smile and feel happy.
12 points - Shum
Tumblr media
Now, Shum was in my second place on this year, until about two days ago when I saw Go_A live at Airwaves and damn, they were excellent. It may only been about a year and Shum has already sort of become one of those Eurovision classics, I think, which will survive the passage of time as one of those songs that people will always associate with Eurovision, just like Dancing Lasha Tumbai and other songs such as it. It's energetic, it's folky, it's immaculately well staged and everything about the song and performance makes it a A+ Eurovision song. And is well on its way to being one of my favorite Eurovision songs ever. If this doesn’t get top 10 ESC250 finish then I will be shocked.
In comparison to how I voted last year:
12 points - øve os på hinanden (got 127th place)
10 points - Shum (got 3rd place)
8 points - Forogj Világ! (got 152nd place)
7 points - Spirit in the Sky (got 7th place)
6 points - Hajde da Ludujemo (got 110th place)
5 points - My Heart Goes Boom (did not make the list)
4 points - Zitti E Buoni (got 2nd place)
3 points - Historyja majho Zycci (did not make the list)
2 points - Think About Things (got 33th place)
1 points - Occidentali's Karma (got 51st place)

Hello guys so I thought it would be nice to translate an interview with Maneskin which is originally in Russian.
Thank you @teatrodellavita for sending me the link for the interview ❤️
So to warn you all before you read the translated interview, this is translation everything from Russian to English so all the maneskin answers were basically translated x2 (Italian -> Russian -> English) so there might be some Chinese whisper/telephone effect. Also I struggle with Russian idioms/metaphors so I’ll note them if they are during the interview.
I’ll leave the link here so you can follow the time stamps all of the questions. Also I tried my best making a nice structure which was hard because this whole post was written on tumblr mobile app
https://youtu.be/16NIbGDcycI
youtube
(I’ll be writing in personal notes to explain some parts in italic and bold)
So the video starts with the host making a parody of 80s Italy video promoting a vinyl. I am not sure, correct me if I am wrong, but I think that’s a reference to their New Years special episode. I skipped parts of the host talking because I don’t see it relevant to the Maneskin interview. Also I’d like to note that if you want to compare the host he is similar in hosting style like Jimmy Kimmel, he trying to ask questions with a bit of humour
[2:02] Host: Our guest, the winners of Eurovision: Maneskin!!!
[2:08] Maneskin performing I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE
[4:59] Host: Maneskin!!! *clapping*
Damiano: Thank you
Host: Thank you! Grazie! (Says other random Italian phrases, which I don’t know how to spell)
[5:21] Host: I was informed that on Yandex Music in our country (YandexMusic is a streaming service) you became more popular than Billie Eilish. You are the most popular band/group in the country based on streaming your music.
Host: Tell me how do you feel about Billie Eilish? Are you happy that you surpassed quiet singing woman from America (he didn’t mean it in harsh way more like a joke way)
Victoria: Poor Billie
Damiano: We really like her. There isn’t any competition with her, it’s not that important. But we are happy that our audience is here.
*audience clapping*
[5:55] Host: (said something that I couldn’t hear because of the clapping)
Host: You know, thanks to you we noticed how much in TV and Russia we see rarer and rarer people come/visit in leather and lace
*audience laugh in the background*
Host: And honestly speaking, looking at you we realize how much we miss it, we lack it, you have very very beautiful costumes/outfits
Damiano: thank you very much
Host: it just lacking blue and then a bit we’ll have a russian flag
*audience laugh*
[6:31] Host: what are your thoughts/feelings of Russia? What are your thoughts/feelings of meeting your fans? Where did you go? You are already a couple of days here, what did you like?
Damiano: Very pretty. It is very rare when we could go for walk, we saw the Red Square. The public is very warm so we appreciate/it’s very nice.
Victoria/Damiano (Not sure if this translated part was from Victoria or Damiano): We received a lot of Vodka as gifts
Ethan: and chocolate
Host: In this country you are the first people to receive vodka as a gift. (I think it’s sarcasm because I know a lot of people who received vodka as a visitor/ gifted vodka for visitors)
*audience laughs*
Host: but it’s ok, maybe it’ll become a tradition.
[7:04] Host: Tell me, a bit, for all of us who know you after the Eurovision. How was the band created? Who first joined the band. Am I right that Thomas, Victoria, you *pointing Thomas and Victoria* you first then Damiano joined? Tell us
Thomas: We went to the same school, and during that time we met each other. Then Damiano joined our band and then we made the band. A lot of different people came to us - we were looking for a soloist and drummer
Victoria: and during that time Damiano joined us.
Victoria:We choose Damiano because he was the only who could actually sing
Thomas: and then later Ethan joined the band. We found him *pointing at Ethan* on Facebook
Host: So you wrote something that you are looking for a drummer right? How did it happen? What did you write, what to write so I can join you as the 5th member with accordion
*audience laughing*
Ethan: Accordion is a bit difficult instrument *audience laughing* to use in rock music, but you can send us your resume, we will look at it.
[8:35] Host: We have a question from our band called ‘фрукты (Fruits)’ which is performing already 10 years. So the question is: you, just like the band Fruits, started from street performing, right? Like outside nearly at the streets of Via de Corso in Rome?
Damiano: Yes
Host: When you performed outside did you already wear the same costumes/outfits? How much as an estimate did you earn a day? It’s very interesting, a lot of bands will travel to that street, to repeat your journey.
Victoria: We dressed worse
Damiano: We dressed the style of hippie, but we earned a bit of money. One time, one boy came up and dropped for us 20 euros. It didn’t matter on the day, and one time a guy/young man came up and dropped 50 euros in to our box.
*Host pointing at himself proudly, audience laughing*
Victoria: So it was you!
Host: Oofcourse
Victoria: We thought we saw your face somewhere before.
*audience laughing*
Host: Of course guys, I left the boutique and thought hmmm what do I do with useless money, ofcourse.
[9:50] Host: Also about the band Fruits I just can’t not say it, Damiano, when you turn to your profile, *asking camera men to move the camera close up to the soloist of the band Fruits* *we see her side profile* I think during your childhood you both were separated, you look so alike. Damiano, maybe you have relatives in this country.
Damiano: *Damiano laughs*
Damiano: Maybe
*continues laughing*
Host: maybe, maybe
Damiano: It is possible, my dad was in Russia. *Damiano starts to laugh more, audience and laughing and clapping, camera goes on the soloist of the band Fruits smiling looking shy/embarrassed*
Host: She has the exact same story, her mother was visiting Italy
[10:23] Host: I can’t stop talking about your costumes/outfits (positively). And that you returned us faith/hope in Italian music in our country, which we really really love here, but also faith/hope in rock music. You are a group which uses more than one guitar and doesn’t used a drum machine and suddenly became very popular that we grateful for you because the word rock appeared and returned thanks to you.
Host:It is clear that you love rock music which is now considered the past rock and know the history of rock music. If you were offered to be able to go to a concert from the past, from any band, where would you want to go? Each one of you
Damiano: maybe the performance of Queen, would’ve been fun to see
Host: Victoria, which band and which performance?
Victoria: hmmm...possibly David Bowie, his tour.
Host: Ethan?
Ethan: If it was possible to return in the past, I would’ve traveled to the Woodstock
Victoria: he has has there contacts/ connections
*Damiano imitates smoking and laughs*
Host: oh I can’t repeat that after you
Host: and Thomas?
Thomas: I would go to the 70s for Jimi Hendrix
[12:00] Host: Where do you buy your clothes? Like from the basics, so I arrive to Rome and I have more than 50 euros, thank god, and I want to buy clothes. Where do I buy the clothes?
Maneskin (I wasn’t sure who’s comment the translator translated): just in the stores
*audience laughing*
Damiano: There is nothing funny *Damiano smiling* It’s true *He starts laughing*
Host: I’ll be honest I haven’t been in Rome for a very long time. But it’s in vintage stores right?
*Maneskin agreeing*
[12:30] Host: I have a very important moment, it is that you for the first time..mm.. finally brought back what we all missed and exactly that is bright and beautiful, outlined dignity male makeup on stage. Speaking of this..... talking veryyy slow so they can translate them quickly... speaking of this, I have a small favour/request ... *he kinda goes of track for a second* who does the make up, do you do it yourself?
Maneskin: no no
Damiano: no we have makeup artists, actually one makeup artist, very talented, well done. Between all of us, Victoria is best as makeup.
Host: Yeah, but with Victoria it’s understandable, it’s clear that she start trying makeup sooner than you did.
Host: I have an offer, imagine you don’t have your makeup artist and you have a person who urgently needs makeup applied. I would like to ask if you, Damiano, and the member could apply the makeup on my face? I honestly don’t know what you need to apply to makeup *he is opening palettes of makeup*
*Damiano stands up walking towards the host
Host: (in English) Thomas if you wanna, you know help, please.
*Thomas joins Damiano*
Host:(back in Russian) Victoria you can hint them
Translator: She (Victoria) said that you (Host) choose the wrong helpers
*audience laughs*
Host: Yeah? Then come join
*Victoria and Ethan join*
(Ok here it goes messy cause they are all talking and the translator instantly translates so I might have mixed up)
*Victoria points at some makeup product (can’t see which one)*
Host: This one?! Victoria...
Damiano: wait, I’ll go first, first add a bit of eyeliner
*Damiano applies eyeliner under the eye of the host*
Victoria: you started under the eye, you should’ve started from the top
Host: *joking* I’ll also always start with this line
*Victoria smiling shakes her head, audience laughing*
Damiano: Its the type of makeup you wear when you go grocery shopping
*Audience is laughing, host tries not to laugh while Damiano is applying eyeliner on him*
Host: I was actually planning to go grocery shopping
*Thomas and Victoria start applying eyeshadow on different parts of hosts face*
Host: Sto-wha- already other parts being applied?
*Audience laughing*
Host: Ok guys... but..
Host: Ethan is it ok? Your the only one I can trust in this group
Support host in the background: he’ll need to be returning home (as a joke implying he needs to look decent when he leaves the studio)
*Victoria applies makeup on the host lips*
Host: Also lips?! Hmmm
Ethan: you look good
Damiano: close your eyes *applies upper eyeliner*
Damiano: (in English) I don’t know what I am doing
Host: (in Russian) you don’t know what you are doing? No, that’s too late to tell me.
Damiano: (in English) that’s why we have a makeup artist
Host: (in Russian) no, wait, now your make up artist will say why am I even needed by this band.
Ethan: just a final touch *applies eyeshadow on the tip of the hosts nose, and walks away with two thumbs up*
*host laughs and then picks up mirror to look at the work*
Host: not bad guys, to be honest, not bad.
Damiano: (in Italian) No it’s true, look how pretty he is, very pretty
Host: guys I want to tell you one thing: never fire your make up artist
*audience laughing*
Host: Thank you for your visit and we are very grateful for your performance
Host: And what can I say, we are waiting here and with the whole company will to you concert. Grazie mille
————————————
Ooooooff that took wayyyy longer I planned, it was hard because I had to relisten some parts to know who actually said, like it is easier when it’s only one person cause I get to translate quicker.
Anyways, hope you all enjoyed this translation, if you have any maneskin interviews in Russian or German (warning: my German is a bit ruff from lack of practicing) which you would like me to translate, message me :)
