Some screencaps from finishing the game this past holiday! Hadn't been able to complete it because of comp issues, so it was nice to finally actually play through the thing lol. I admire all the little details that are easy to walk past. Hopefully the folks making the game had a fun time with it all
Also tried to jot down the songs on the back of the record covers, but I did it by taking screenshots and looking at them later. I couldn't make a lot of them out (like Stormriders), and missed Roddy's cover entirely while screenshoting! :( But I managed to get the bulk of the collection. Listed below the cut - it's fun to think of it as extra worldbuilding, and maybe useful for any fanfic writers lol.
Edit! Roddy cover obtained >:3 Now included in the below list heehee
Blast Processor Side A - 198X - Revolution - The Lie - Memories of Last Monday Side B - Digital Overload - Rewind - Echoes
David Scopo Side One - Moonlight - Walk Along the Pier - Rolling with the Cat - Reflections Side Two - Train to Train - Wham, Bam, Grandstam - Refresh - Devil in the Details

They Live (1988)
Tumblr media
If They Live was a little more serious, a little bit goofier, or more focused on action, it wouldn’t work at all. As is, the movie hits the perfect note to become thought-provoking without ever feeling pretentious or even all that serious thanks to iconic dialogue, memorable visuals, one of the weirdest fights ever shot and its creature design.
When an unnamed drifter (Roddy Piper) overhears a street preacher (Raymond St. Jacques) talking about how “they” have infiltrated our society and are secretly pulling all the strings, he thinks nothing of it. Then, he comes across a pair of strange sunglasses that allow him to see the hidden truth behind our world.
The premise is ridiculous and They Live knows it. The shades the drifter finds reveal subliminal messages all over the place. Billboards, TV screens and even wooden signs all instruct us to spend money, breed, accept the status quo and avoid questioning the world around us. It’s a conspiracy theorist’s dream and for a while, you’re amused by what you see. The creatures living among us are hiding what they’re doing but their messages are so on-the-nose you laugh. Then, you get a good look at them and suddenly, things don’t seem so funny anymore. In fact, it’s downright creepy.
Several times, you'll go back and forth between laughing, shivering from discomfort and cheering out loud as our muscular hero kinda-sorta decides it’s up to him to reveal to the world what’s happening. He may just be able to pull it off - this movie is nutty enough. If he does, you won’t hold it against the picture. At no point is this trying to be realistic or plausible, which is why it’s so much fun. Every time the drifter tries to explain to someone what’s going on, he bungles it so badly that you'll laugh. The funniest scene has to be the one where he tries to convince his co-worker Frank (Keith David) to take just a quick look through the glasses. The scene goes on for so long you'll lose it. “Where is this going?” “I don’t know but I’m having a blast trying to figure it out!”
We've seen elements of They Live elsewhere. Invasion of the Boy Snatchers is a great example. Rather than feel derivative, however, the film feels wholly fresh and unique. Largely, it's due to John Carpenter’s cinematic quirks. The film has its cake and eats it too by simultaneously enlightening, horrifying and sending the audience into hysterics. (On DVD, January 24, 2020)

Watch "Tommy Boy Road Trip" on YouTube
youtube
I hadn't post this because it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen they make these poor decisions every few seconds and you guys can't figure it out. When you said so god-awful two people about them you're not to say to her son we come down on you regardless of what you believe LOL and then you got faith in stuff that's not true.
But the main reason is that you make poor life decisions in the sign said it right when you stop your car and it's on the left in front of the building it's a window the police don't do anything they find you and your car in pieces and say what happened I said we were driving in the hood came up and we lost control the fun part is he just kept driving
Thor Freya
And on and on they talk and talk and the cops not even listening and had walked off and said you're having some kind of party in there they said no we're normal and I said no you're talking and I'm not standing there said we didn't notice we're in shock a little bit a little bit of fear we need to calm down and sit down and take a break and it said that the cow goes you certainly do I said go back to your car I'm going to have it towed. So go back to the car and the car comes up and says don't go anywhere the tow truck's on the way cuz he got called and they always do now they drove off it's like two fine upstanding citizens that's not stolen I mean it's stolen for me and azog you know what the hell yes it's more is it your is your car her car more than mine you have to ask her so I got on the line I said absolutely want to press charges and he goes is there anyway you can call me and she goes and that was me I said not really you know who you are Mike the maintenance man hey Billy z is your car out there probably you know what they're doing seems to be a little bit really stupid parts to sell the parts back that's the cover. He got very mad so you can't be that stupid they're in our car and they're doing something that's stupid most of the time I have to ask them if they've been eating doodoos... Is it all kids so we have a deal this is going to be fun and it says today but I don't see it
Hera
So it's not today it's happening soon there's people so damn slow he's sending people after he's just kind of sitting there he's a dumbest person I know. Is that doing anything like staring I don't know what he said I'm the man of la mancha.
I'm certainly angry when I bother you all the time fix your wagon 2 and people can't get it
We're ordering people to go in there and do stuff to you also taking our time tonight no we're getting ready going off to San Francisco a lot of you are cuz what happened today is the movie they live it's not the full-blown one but it started we have other stuff going on and it's in Los Angeles and people are doubting like crazy and mutating and that's right aliens movie it's like the others or something but really John rainbow is getting fired from tons of companies for taking them over and several movies are starting and I started on the list and I got the only partially through
Tonight is a precursor for the movie
They Live starting rowdy Roddy Piper and it is also Garth as a different character and they are trying to get in and Tommy Allen was trying to get in yesterday he's trying again today as carrot top it's a little flamboyant and I probably cut it down but he's going to try it a lot of people trying believe it or not it's real and some of them get in and then it begins tonight 11:00 p.m. downtown San Francisco
Invasion of body snatchers and it begins tonight it is more or less a preamble but it is the movie proper and it's not a fun movie for a lot of people my son doesn't like it either it's gross it's very upsetting Mike too hates it and he wants Adam and he wants people to go out there who want to go at him appreciate what they're doing they're more or less anarchists and he knows he's into restoring and maintaining history and historical buildings we got a really really decent exposure to it O'Connor and that was his company and he was Thomas O'Connor and you really appreciate it and promise enamored and love the fact that he did it and is the fact that his dad had a problem and he started talking about John remine he said that guy is stupid he's being fooled by people who are smarter and he said the guy down there is very dangerous and smart enough to hold systems simple enough and simple enough to make mistakes that are dangerous and that that's what we encountered so it took a lot of work and there's tons of things going on huge numbers of things going on this movie is very important it's taking place right now a lot of people wondering about these cramps it's kind of explained it and told some people actually told the girl today that the ocean was kind of tossed around and that's what's going on and she went right up there by the way she got someone to cover for her and saying no way it's true about 15 minutes she was out sorry just blabbing and blabbing and blabbing so she says cuz she has her saying so she said it like five times cuz I didn't really mean it like five times it's like three and okay but he's not doing anything it's not doing anything the snow honor among him at all it's all he uses a thief you guys do a lot of work and it's real and he does work in apparently not real. Is he said wow that's weird people saying about us you can see it it says it's really in the attitude I mean he's but he's kind of forced into it or trained by Tommy f and you focused on him luckily so they felt bad for him and they're trying to tell him to get a little training for that guy he keeps saying why don't you shut up that sounds going big movie. This is fine this weird vibe it might be the people that are in calexico and it's not but it seems like it to some people but that already happened no and people are kind of wondering why and now they're seeing it they're looking at the film and it is the people from that movie from Los Angeles which is not too far away and they're starting to get grossed out they're like in the zombie like state and it's like they've been doping and doping and preserved and then they go into this wall and it's really weird why someone would do that they're trying to figure it out it's fairly gross to them and they want a break from this evil evil man and they don't seem to be getting one so we are rolling on this movie and they live and the sun says there's a couple other big movies in San Francisco and he mentioned some the sixth day with gigantic there are a few more it's kind of frustrated cuz you can't figure out where Venom comes from no now he remembers he thinks it's the abyss movie and we looked into it and it could be them cuz they took the form of something and someone was saying that's the thing from Mars it'll go back up or come down and it could be that that's where Venom come from oh that is venom it's kind of where they went some of them and it's a story and it's very pregnant because it's really close to where they are in Los Angeles but they haven't invaded it all and they're saying it's the clones because it kind of is. But first things first and that is they you go up and do research on her flight and clones and other and they have to try and retrieve the data it's a big reason why they're out there but that would be clones so we're talking in circles
Home coming up there's a very important movies you need to put it out there

「dylan minnette & cis male」⇾ horowitz, rodney, the senior horton student’s records show that he is a libra and 21 years old. he is studying history, living in gorham and can be frenzied, adventurous, rowdy & inattentive. when i see him i am reminded of a basket of thrifted records with worn corners, books with splitting spines, and knee-high socks with stupid patterns. ⇽「perks & 24 & cst & she/her.」
the basics.
full name: rodney alan horowitz
nickname(s): prefers to be called rodney but most call him rod or roddy.
age / birthday: twenty-one / september 24th
gender identity / pronouns: cis male / he&him
sexuality: heterosexual
year of study / major: senior / history
occupation: gift shop associate @ A Zoo
distinguishing features: one dumb face and a small stick n’ poke larry niven quote on his upper arm (”never fire a laser at a mirror”).
personal style: rodney likes to be comfortable but he also likes to be the center of attention. bold colors, mixed fabrics, and t-shirts with you’d have to see the movie to get it quotes emblazoned across the chest are go-tos. he loves a good jogger paired with some sneakers and a ball cap. there’s absolutely no formalwear in his closet; he rents a suit if he needs one. he enjoys carrying around a beat-up backpack despite having nothing to put in it (textbooks? where?) and he won’t hesitate to rep swag from other schools if he got a good deal on it at a thrift shop near campus.
background & personality.
born in los angeles as one half of a pair but grew up in the san diego area until his family moved to philadelphia when he was ten.
his mom is a meteorologist and his dad’s a composer & music teacher.
along with his twin sister, he also has an adopted younger brother that is four years his senior and his parents just had a baby girl after rodney and his twin sister moved out bc they couldn’t deal with their nest growing smaller.
his childhood was a bit weird. his uncle has lived in their basement for a while now and with his father teaching music out of his home studio, the horowitz house always had people bustling in and out.
rodney’s always been a bit of a fuck up, especially compared to his twin sister. headcanon that he’s going to end up flunking out of college shy of a few credits but pretend i didn’t say anything.
he’s never really responded well to labels. he’s not an extrovert but he’s not an introvert either. he just exists somewhere in the middle, able to maintain a conversation with just about anyone without worrying about where it’s going but also not confident enough to approach the other party first.
he’s very touch and go with relationships. he’s had girlfriends here and there throughout the years but nothing ever sticks.
in an ideal world, rodney would keep the same group of friends for a lifetime. they'd never have a falling out, never leave him behind when they went on to bigger and better things while he keeps fucking things up. things would be so much easier if people weren't expected to grow.
details.
collects used records, skateboards, science fiction novels, stupid socks, and stuffed monkeys bc he is obsessed with monkeys.
owns a signed copy of ray bradbury’s “the illustrated man” but he left it back in philly bc he doesn’t trust himself to keep it safe.
favorite films are 2001: a space odyssey, annihilation, solaris, children of men, blade runner (1982), and invasion of the body snatchers.
misses the titi monkeys in the rare animal conservation center at the philadelphia zoo.
will only eat chicken nuggets if they’re shaped like dinosaurs.
give him yogurt pretzels or give him death.
connections.
an ex-girlfriend from junior year that he avoids out of fear of awkward tension
a group of fellow idiots for him to hang out with
history majors that he embarrasses with his lack of knowledge
multiple tutors who have had to quit bc there was no chance of helping him
friends he parties with on the weekends
a few hook-ups maybe? if they can be bothered to make the effort?
smart lady he has big crush on and makes heart eyes at when he sees her around

Ships I ship in KF (I dont ship a lot of them) Plus this drawing of Marie and George
Marie X George- Classic, Amazing. These two were so obsessed with eachother. Literally no other excuse Marie would stay in love with him for 20 more years after his death. I know he would have been a great dad and they would have gotten married and been one of those old couples that bicker and then immediately make up
Martinez X Leslie - I know we don’t see lots of people shipping this but The way Leslie talked about her and seemed more wounded by her death was enough for me to instantly go “gay.” I think they’ve been dating secretly for awhile but never really said anything since the 70s were really bad with that
Forrest X Roddy - This is a crack ship. I think they would be so funny if they were a couple at some point and broke up for some reason.
Peggy X Barbara - I like to think that Peggy was jealous of Brad because she had feelings for Barb. Building on that I like the idea that they do start dating sometime after the good ending in KF. Imagining a scenario where forrest walks in on it and Peggy locks and closes the door and he just slides a little note under it saying “pls let me in im fruity too :(“ also Forrest is the only other person at KFAM that knows
Jason X Casey- Also work well as best friends but I like to imagine a slow burn with them. Something like Casey helping him through the trauma of almost being murdered and probably some semblance of anything he still feels guilty about georges death. I also like the song Ophelia for them
Thats all of them off the top of my head, I do think Carrie had a onesided crush on Jeanie but thats all

Scary Horror Movie Quotes
Tumblr media
If you are a fan of horror movies you may recognize a few of these classic lines. And, it doesn’t only have to be Halloween when you read them - you can enjoy them anytime.
“When there’s no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the Earth.” – Dawn of the Dead (1978)
“I met this 6-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and the blackest eyes… the devil’s eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply… evil.” — Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) in Halloween (1978)
“I am the devil, and I am here to do the devil’s work.” – The Devil’s Rejects (2005)
“They’re Heee-re.” – Poltergeist (1982)
“You start to play it and it’s like somebody’s nightmare. And then this woman comes on, smiling at you, right? Seeing you through the screen. Then when it’s over, your phone rings, someone knows you watched the tape and what they say is, ‘You will die in seven days.'” – The Ring (2002)
Tumblr media
“You don’t need eyes for where we’re going.” – Event Horizon (1997)
“You can’t kill the Boogeyman.” – Halloween (1978)
“Where you gonna go, where you gonna run, where you gonna hide? Nowhere… ‘Cause there’s no one like you left.” – Body Snatchers (1993)
“Heeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!” The Shining (1980)
“I am your number one fan. There is nothing to worry about. You are going to be just fine. I am your number one fan.” — Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) Misery

“A boy’s best friend is his mother.” — Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) Psycho (1960)
“Be afraid… Be very afraid.” – The Fly (1986)
“The symbol is associated with a Pagan deity named Bagul. He consumes the souls of human children. The ancient church believed that Bagul actually lived in the images themselves and that they were gateways into his realm. Children exposed to these images were especially vulnerable to Bagul’s abductions.” – Sinister (2012)
Tumblr media
“Meat’s meat, and a man’s gotta eat.” – Motel Hell (1980)
“I’m here to kick ass and chew gum, and I’m all out of bubblegum.” – Roddy Piper in They Live (1988)
“I see dead people” – The Sixth Sense (1999)
“1 – 2 – Freddy’s coming for you, 3 – 4 – Better lock your door, 5 – 6 – Grab your crucifix, 7 – 8 – Better stay up late, 9 – 10 – Never sleep again…” – A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
“Dr. Gordon, this is your wake-up call. Everyday of your working life you have given people the news that they’re gonna die soon. Now you will be the cause of death. Your aim in this game is to kill Adam. You have until six on the clock to do it. There’s a man in the room with you. When there’s that much poison in your blood, the only thing left to do is shoot yourself. There are ways to win this, hidden all around you. Just remember, X marks the spot for the treasure. If you do not kill Adam by six, then Alison and Diana will die, Dr. Gordon…and I’ll leave you in this room to rot. Let the game begin.” – Saw (2004)
“They’re coming to get you, Barbara.” – Night of the Living Dead (1968)
“You’re going to need a bigger boat.” – Jaws (1975)
“We all go a little mad sometimes.” – Psycho (1960) (Norman Bates)

5 Horror Directors Who Entered The Twilight Zone
Tumblr media
Leading up to today's premiere of Jordan Peele's reboot of The Twilight Zone on CBS All Access, I revisited the original series. Widely considered one of the greatest television shows of all time, Rod Serling's science fiction/horror anthology series ran for 156 episodes over the course of five seasons between 1959 and 1964 on CBS.
The original series attracted an impressive array of actors who would go on to find great success, including William Shatner, Robert Redford, Lee Marvin, Martin Landau, Burt Reynolds, Mickey Rooney, Dennis Hopper, Carol Burnett, Dick York, Ron Howard, Roddy McDowall, Robert Duvall, and many more.
Less discussed but equally important, the show also boasted a number of talented directors. Some were established filmmakers attracted to the Kafkaesque material, while others were eager up-and-comers cutting their teeth in television. Here are five famed horror directors who entered The Twilight Zone.
Tumblr media
1. Richard Donner
Richard Donner’s claim to fame among the horror genre is The Omen, but he’s also responsible for bringing The Goonies, Superman, Lethal Weapon, and Scrooged to the screen. Long before crafting such beloved films, he directed six episodes of The Twilight Zone, including one of the show’s most well-known installments. “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” - which was later remade by George Miller for Twilight Zone: The Movie and again for the new reboot - stars William Shatner as a salesman who sees a monster on the wing of his airplane during a flight. Donner also helmed “The Brain Center at Whipple’s,” “The Jeopardy Room,” “Sounds and Silences,” “From Agnes – with Love,” and “Come Wander with Me,” which was the last episode of the series to be filmed. Perhaps influenced by his experiences on The Twilight Zone, Donner later served as executive producer of Tales from the Crypt.
Tumblr media
2. Donald Siegel
Donald Siegel is known for directing the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. He also did five films with Clint Eastwood, including Dirty Harry and Escape from Alcatraz, as well as John Wayne’s final effort, The Shootist. For The Twilight Zone, he worked on two episodes from the show’s fifth and final season. “Uncle Simon,” is one of three episodes to feature Robby the Robot of Forbidden Planet fame, and “The Self-Improvement of Salvadore Ross,” in which Don Gordon stars in the titular role as an insensitive man with the power to trade both physical and personality traits with any other person.
Tumblr media
3. Joseph M. Newman
Joseph M. Newman is known for the sci-fi classic This Island Earth, which - despite being a good film - was famously the subject of Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. Nearly a decade after its release, he directed four episodes for The Twilight Zone’s fifth season. His contributions include “In Praise of Pip,” the season opener and first American TV show to mention the Vietnam War; “The Last Night of a Jockey,” a memorable episode in which Mickey Rooney is the sole actor; “Black Leather Jackets,” about an alien invasion; and “The Bewitchin’ Pool,” the show’s final episode. Newman also tackled ten episodes of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour around the same time he was working on The Twilight Zone.
Tumblr media
4. Boris Sagal
Boris Sagal is behind the Charlton Heston-starring cult movie The Omega Man, the second adaptation of regular Twilight Zone writer Richard Matheson’s influential 1954 novel, I Am Legend. He also directed Elvis Presley in Girl Happy. A few years prior, he helmed two episodes of The Twilight Zone. “The Silence” is an intriguing offering, inspired by Anton Chekhov’s short story "The Bet," in which a talkative man is offered $500,000 to remain silent for a year. “The Arrival,” meanwhile, boasts a double twist.
Tumblr media
5. Stuart Rosenberg
Stuart Rosenberg directed the original The Amityville Horror, along with the Oscar-winning Cool Hand Luke. He’s also responsible for three Twilight Zone episodes: “I Shot an Arrow into the Air,” which would go on to impact Rod Serling’s Planet of the Apes script, “He’s Alive,” an interesting piece starring Dennis Hopper that involves Adolph Hitler; and “Mute,” adapted by Richard Matheson from his own short story. He’s another director who supplemented his Twilight Zone work with Alfred Hitchcock Presents, handling five episodes.
Tumblr media
The Twilight Zone's first revival, which kicked off a three-season run in 1985, attracted a number of notable horror filmmakers, including Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street), William Friedkin (The Exorcist), Joe Dante (Gremlins), Tommy Lee Wallace (It), Paul Lynch (Prom Night), and Jeannot Szwarc (Jaws II). While it didn’t quite live up to the original, it’s fun to see the masters of the genre become part of the legacy. The Twilight Zone was revived again for a single season in 2002.
The Twilight Zone’s original run holds up remarkably well. While certain trivial aspects may be dated, the core themes remain relevant 60 years later. I highly recommend revisiting it while you enjoy the new incarnation. The complete series is streaming on Netflix and is available on Blu-ray and DVD. You can also watch the entire first episode of the new Twilight Zone series for free below.
