Hello! Excellent question! I have a couple all time favorites, which you may have already read since they’re some iconic pieces of Royai history imo ;)

delicate by @lantur (ao3): A wonderful, long, in depth riza character study, with some lovely royai on the side. My unofficial canon, because of how perfect the characterization and writing is.

We That Are Young by Stoplight Delight (fanfiction.net): a super old fanfic I read when I first joined the fandom that I still love :) it’s a sort of canon divergent sort of canon compliant account of Roy and Riza’s lives, spanning from when they were children to the start of the anime.

Buried Alive by @rizahawkaye (ao3): another one I read when first joining the fandom. Riza fakes her own death to infiltrate a terrorist organization. The storytelling is incredible and there’s lots of great twists and turns (as well as some delicious royai drama ofc)

And lastly Cessation- also by @rizahawkaye (fanfiction.net): a haunting little oneshot that has always stuck with me, about riza and roy reuniting one last time before roy is executed for his crimes in ishval.

💘 Is it easier to write angst or fluff?

Overall, angst. Angst moves the plot forward while fluff serves as a break or a happy ending (or a cute oneshot). That being said, every story needs to have tension and release. With These Beautiful Lies We Tell Ourselves, I tried to be careful about not overwhelming the readers (and myself) by pounding tragedy into every sentence. Chapter Three didn't have a break, but it was mostly because I didn't feel it appropriate to add a comedic scene or fluffy scene to that chapter. However Chapter Four takes a more action-oriented approach and finally Chapter Five delivers a reprieve and hopeful future.

On the other hand, I LOVE reading fluff, so kudos to the authors who do it really well. @fluffmelange is my current twiyor fluff babe

🚦What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?

I will very rarely write a sad ending. The one and only royai deathfic I did broke my heart to pieces. @jedidragonwarriorqueen is amazing at writing very angsty pieces that deliver a solid happy ending and are worth the ride! Sometimes I'll write bittersweet endings, but most of the time I like my happy endings to be deserved. 💕So I don't think I'll write a twiyor death fic, royai can take the trophy on that one (but if I did rest assured I would tag the crap out of it)

WIP Wednesday- Plans for this year

The past week has been extremely hectic (had to take my mum to the hospital--she is home now and she is fine!) so I don't have much to show for WIPs this week either. So I figured I'd take some time to do a little breakdown of some of the works I have planned for this year :]

This will not be exhaustive, as I'm incredibly susceptible to coming up with ideas to chase at any moment, but hopefully some of these ideas sound fun!

The Biggies

Royai Big Bang 2024 Anthology piece- To be released October 3rd, 2024. This is my first time participating in any sort of fandom event, so I'm very excited! If you've seen my snippets of or heard me talking about my Riza Going Undercover As A Butch Honeypot story, that's this one!

(Currently) Unnamed 03Royai Project- I had wanted to get this started last year to celebrate FMA03's 20th anniversary but alas.... 2023 sucked for me. So my goal is to get it started and work on it through this year! It's going to be an exploration of 03Royai after the events of the anime, made up of three parts: them falling in love and the challenges faced after the anime, the events of CoS and immediately afterwards, and then the future thereafter. A bit of a fix-it of sorts, if you want to call it that? but more of a look into their mental states and codependence and me trying to draw other people into talking about fma03 with me. My baby.

Other Ideas

What if Dante had fixated on Riza instead of Rose?- Another 03 project! Kind of a silly idea but I love putting Riza in situations, especially when it makes Baddies get weirdly fixated on her. Maybe Dante thinks having Mustang in her pocket would be good. Maybe she has a thing for blondes.

Wrath bullying Riza when she's his assistant/hostage- Rescued from my drafts! A short oneshot I do not remember writing but liked very much when I went "which one was this again?" when I was going through my WIP folder the other day. Bradley making Riza feel bad for making Roy 'weak'.

PPD Riza- Another rescued draft I think I wrote originally at like 3am one night. A oneshot of Riza being forced to finally reckon with her childhood trauma while struggling with postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter. Roy supports her (because it's HER TURN to be cared for).

Lycanthropy as a metaphor for feminine rage- Riza werewolf AU. An excuse for her to get mad about all the injustices she's suffered at the hands of men and be covered in blood.

Is 2024 The Year I Finally Publish 'The Infamous Printer Fic'?- ........maybe...

I'm sure there are other ideas that will pop into my head suddenly! And maybe a couple of these fics listed will get shoved back into Draft Jail... Time will tell. My biggest priority for the next few months will be the Big Bang piece, and after that I will try pushing more for Unnamed 03Royai Project, with little things sprinkled in between. Dear God Dear God Tinkle Tinkle Hoy let me get more writing (and art) out this year!

what's your favorite fic that you've written so far?

In terms of multi chapter, I’ve only ever actually finished one that I’ve started (oops) and it was a Fullmetal Alchemist one for royai that started as a series of oneshots and became a story I really love and it got me back into writing fanfiction. It’s my favorite in terms of it was the first thing I’d had written in awhile at the time and it got it helped me relieve a lot of the pressure I was having with my personal writing. I was so proud when I finished it and hopefully my current WIPs will get resolved but I’m getting off track and I’m making myself feel guilty

But I think my first Huntlow oneshot Just A Jacket is my favorite rn because my brain root was beginning and idk I think it is very cute and I like it

Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

Honestly,,,, one shots.

I have loved writing in the meadow and it was a serious test of “can i even …. Can i even write that much” come to find out that i can 💀

But i like little snippets and cute quick ideas. I also um love writing makeout scenes and those are easier to pump out in one shots lol. I am also a whore for instant gratification, so one shots are just more fun for me

BUT i really like multi chapter. I have a big college au in my mind that i hope will see the light of day but im not sure.

40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

Oh my gosh oh my gosh idk idk uhh heres ideas for in the meadow

I really love the scene when milly and knives are sitting on the bench in chapter… 8? And @noaafishfieldguide did art of that and i sobbed

But i think…. Any fanart is incredible but i would love to see peoples interpretations of moments when knives and milly are alone. Like sitting at the apple tree or just hanging out around each other

There are some moments in the coming chapters that i would ummmm i would love to see fanart of…..

But i have other works !!! most of my other stuff is already based on sketches so there’s already artwork, but i’d love to see people draw for any of those,,,, especially the royai one…….

53. How do you spend your time when it comes to fanfiction? Are you primarily a fic reader, writer, or a perfect 50/50 split of both?

Ummmm no. as of late my fanfiction reading has been put on the sidelines bc ive been writing and editing so much.

Before in the meadow it was like 80% reading other fics and 20% writing my own oneshots that never saw the light of day.,,,, but now its like 95% of the time im writing my own and when i need inspo or someone posts something awesome i will read it

I just get caught up in my own stuff… i literally write it for myself lol

My idea: "For the Royai week reunion theme, I will write a simple oneshot about Roy and Riza reuniting after they both serve a 10-year prison sentence."

My current state of writing: 8.3k words written in the Google document. Riza is not even one month into her prison sentence yet, let alone 10 years into her sentence.

The current state of my browser window: Four tabs open describing the human rights conditions and concerns in US prisons, a sample 24-hour day schedule for prisoners, work programs for prisoners, and women's health care.

My current fear: That this will not be a simple oneshot, but rather a 16k monster oneshot.

Worst fear that cannot become a reality: This becomes a two-part fic.
