Writers are often their own PR team, and the same goes for fanfic writers. I like writing gen fic, and so I thought I’d share a selection of Gintama gen fic written by yours truly. Click on each description for a link to the fic. Hope you find something you like!

Mitsuba cuts her own hair and resolves to begin anew.

Itou reflects on the dawn while journeying to Edo.

Hijikata grows obsessed with hunting down a criminal, who may or may not exist, and soon spirals deeper into darkness while haunted by his past.

Takasugi contemplates vengeance and other dark thoughts with a longtime companion.

Tsukuyo and Tae exchange information, assist one another in battle, and enjoy tea and cake and each other’s company.

In the forest, long before the group of young men are ever known as the Shinsengumi, Shimaru teaches a pouting Sougo how to skip a rock on the water.

In a timeline where almost everyone has perished in a great calamity, Kamui journeys through the world alone, trying to ignore the void within his soul while hunting down the enemies who killed his sister and father.

Moments in the life of Sasaki Tetsunosuke, as he finds his place in the Shinsengumi and at the side of Hijikata Toushirou.

Hijikata is unsettled by what he perceives to be a false peace. Tae is exhausted from picking up the pieces again and again. One night, they share in a drink and contemplate war and the future. (Mostly gen, as I explore both of their characters within the Two-Year Timeskip.)

The Shinsengumi navigate the effects of rapid aging during the Ryugujo arc.

Last, but certainly not least, Katsura stars in a series of misadventures: - publishing books and dealing with “mixed reviews" - orchestrating an elaborate plan to capture Matsudaira and Kondou (this story is told from the perspectives of 20 main Gintama characters) - getting stuck in a broom closet with Sacchan and Madao - tracking down a lost video game cartridge

Fic: The Strongest Bonds Need No Words

Picking up a rock from behind him, Sougo threw it toward the river, watching it skip once. He would show them all by becoming the greatest swordsman they would ever witness, putting Hijikata to shame instead and earning Kondou’s praise once again. They would all regret underestimating him and treating him like a child. The hairs on his neck prickled to attention, and Sougo shot a glance to his left. There was a tall boy standing not too far from him, also facing the river in silence. He was one of the new recruits with thick, fiery orange hair. Saitou Shimaru, fourteen-years-old, bent down and picked up a rock and threw it across the surface of the water, the stone skipping four times before plopping into the water. Then, he looked at Sougo, with impassive yet sharp red eyes.

Summary: In the forest, long before the group of young men are ever known as the Shinsengumi, Shimaru teaches a pouting Sougo how to skip a rock on the water.

And so begins an unusual yet strong friendship.

Hey ^^! In your professional Gintama™ opinion, what are each of the Shinsengumi members' types? As in, what do they look for in a s/o personality-wise? Thanks and I hope you have an amazing day!

Toshirou Hijikata:

-Someone with more working neuron brain cells than his one.

-Toshirou usually plays the role of the “straight man” of the group, so he prefers if his partner takes the reins when he is back home.

-The kind of person that is considered the “mom” of the group.

-They also have to be independent! Toshirou can be clingy, but he doesn’t search for that in a partner.

Kondo Isao:

-Someone who loves his hairy ass is enough, lol.

-For real, Kondo just wants someone that likes him with his strengths and weaknesses.

-Maybe that wouldn’t hurt him physically? If he isn’t already asking too much.

-Someone that would laugh at his jokes would be good!

-Please make him feel loved, he deserves it.

Sougo Okita:

-What he needs is a partner that will make his “S” façade fall.

-He is just a young guy with too many insecurities that he needs to vent, but he is also stubborn so it won’t be easy.

-However Sougo would like a partner prone to embarrass themselves, he finds it pretty hot.

-Clingy can be good, but only if they are ready to be punished.

Yamazaki Sagaru:

-A person that notices him would be enough.

-Maybe a shy partner would be amazing, someone too extrovert may “scare” him at first.

-Also someone with a ton of skills? He finds it hot.

-If they don’t have cooking skills Yamazaki doesn’t mind!! Just don’t buy anpan pls.

Saitou Shimaru:

-Someone that doesn’t mind him communicating with his board.

-And that doesn’t mind his narcolepsy; so someone patient.

-Also a person that will make him laugh! Saitou won’t appreciate it vocally, but he does.

-Saitou would like to teach them some ninja skills, so a partner that like physical activities or has already some combact skills would be nice.
