“FIREBUG Blamed For 7 BLAZES,” Vancouver Sun. December 7, 1932. Page 1. --- DESTRUCTION OF CHURCH PROBED ---- Climax Of Outrages ---- NEW WESTMINSTER, Dec. 7. - Further indications that a firebug is stalking in North Westminster district were revealed today, following the incendiary fire which Tuesday virtually destroyed the historic St. Mary's Anglican Church, Sapperton.
Police are investigating two fires of suspicious origin which have occurred in that district within the last two weeks.
A fire started from kindling, placed in a recess behind the McDonald Shoe Store in the K. C. Block, Keary and Columbia Streets, was extinguished before any damage resulted, when it was noticed by a tenant.
Suspicion surrounds a fire which started in a mattress in an unoccupied suite in the Kirk Block across the street from the K. C. Block a few days Iater. This blaze was put out by the fire brigade before any damage was caused.
So far no clue as to origin of these two fires, that of St. Mary's Church or the other five fires of suspected incendiary origin which have occurred in the last three months, has been found.
Police discount the theory that school boys started the fire in the church on Tuesday.
At the time the fire started schools were in session.

Three of my favourite metal detecting finds I found in a shoe box of junk at Newark antiques fair recently. I’m hoping to use them in my work by taking a mold for ceramic reproduction. In researching the snakes head in particular (likely a bracelet end - Identifying Metallic Small Finds - Michael J. Cuddeford 1992) I came across an exciting blog post about Snake Jewellery in Roman Lincolnshire by Dr. Anthony Lee where they map out the discovery of Snake design rings and bracelets in the Lincolnshire area. Coincidently there is a concentration of finds around Ancaster, Sleaford and Sapperton, right on my own doorstep following the route of the High Dyke Roman road that is perpendicular to the end of my road. I’ve included the map (3rd image) from the blogpost (romanlincolnshire.wordpress.com). It seems Lincolnshire produced an array of snake design rings and bracelets during the Roman era possibly for amuletic properties such as portable healing or to invoke classical or local deities. . . . #romanjewelry #snakeheadbracelet #metaldetecting #metaldetectingfinds #lincolnshire #archeologylovers #romanamulet #metaldetectinguk #snakeend #romanlincolnshire #drantonylee #romanbritain #losttreasure (at Harrowby, Lincolnshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp2mBcxoLS6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hidden brewery in New Westminster?
So who doesn't like stumbling across a new brewery. There's a little brewery hidden in an industrial section of New Westminster. Where is it? Let's find out.
[This is not a paid promotion. I paid for my own beer and have received no benefit from the company mentioned here.] So who doesn’t like stumbling across a new brewery. It seems to be the Vancouver thing to do over the past 10 years or so. There’s a little brewery hidden in an industrial section of New Westminster. Where is it? Let’s find out. We can’t also forget about transit here on metro…

Page 1. --- Another nesting place where Ellis Wilcox and Fraser McDougall spent a night during their week of freedom. after a jailbreak from Oakalla on March 5, has been discovered by Chief W. J. Devitt of Burnaby police. Wilcox was killed last Friday in the bush near Smith avenue and Nineteenth during gun battle with Burnaby police.
Chief Devitt has found the Sapper- ton "hide-out" of the youthful bandits. According to McDougall's personal story to The Province, he and Wilcox stayed one night at Sapperton. This statement is borne out by the finding of an Imperial Tobacco Co. sample case, trousers, shirts and a belt in the woods near Great Northern yard trackage. close to Sapperton.
The "nest" was found close to the Sapperton and Port Moody North road. Chief Devitt found evidence that the fugitives spent at least one night at this point.

@phoebe-twiddle tagged me!
Five songs you've been listening to on repeat recently? 1. LOADS of Blues Brothers! Me and my brother watched it constantly as kids! 2. Will it sound bad if I confess to listening to the Sims 2 Soundtrack a lot? Good music for me to type out my TS2 story tbh 😎🤣 3. 'Salt' by Dua Lipa. Seriously that song is catchy! 4. 'Break the Rules' by Charli XCX 5. 'More Than You Know' by Axwell /\ Ingrosso.
Last movie you watched? 'Hot Fuzz' - hands down my favourite movie! However closely followed by 'Clue'.
Currently watching? I follow a lot of YouTube content, mainly travel and Sims 2 based. (I would highly recommend Kingin It, Kara & Nate, Flying The Nest, The Endless Adventure (for travel) and for Sims stuff (not including the reviews I've done in the past - will be re-tagging my reviews/recommends to make it easier to go back and find) I would recommend @plumbella, @pleasantsimmer, @vixellacc and of course Kaffei (who I did a recommendation recently, read it here.)
I'm not one for following up on TV shows. The last show I watched episode-to-episode was Game of Thrones. I joined watching the show after seeing the first episode of S5. Confused as I knew nothing, my then-partner made me sit down and watch all of them. Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are the best, hands down. I also write Fanfiction however I haven't published much recently.
Currently reading? As much as I love books, I prefer to listen to them instead as I'm awful for skim-reading if I have a physical book in my hands. So I'm an avid Audible listener and my top three that I'm reading/re-reading are: 1. 'Fire and Blood' by George RR Martin. Really good, despite me not having read the actual novels he's written. 2. 'Wake Up' by Piers Morgan. He's got a point, really, he has. He explains it better here. Interesting perspective. 3. 'Slaughter in the Sapperton Tunnel' by Edward Marston. A friend recommended the first book in the series and I've since been hooked! Based in Victorian England you follow a detective who loves trains and is good at solving those types. I work on the railway so it relates to me that way.
