Obviously unrelated with the comic I’ve been developing but I couldn’t ignore such an important Anipoké happening that it was yesterday. I’m still recovering from the intense and spectacular final episode of Ash VS Leon battle, it brought me tears on my eyes! I’m super emotional about Ash’s victory that was completely deserved and an evidence of the huge growth of the character in over 1200 episodes and dozens of movies. Ash is now a World Champion, the strongest Trainer of the planet, what a time to be alive!!

🎊Congratulations, Ash Ketchum! You’re the very best, like no one ever was!!! 👏🏆 👑✨

Expect a watercolour illustration soon to also mark this event! ;D

The sketch of this idea was 80% done by November 2023 but I could only fully complete the illustration in the latest days because many things happened and getting ill by the end of the year certainly didn't help. It was about time I had something new to show from the Soul(mate)s of Light AU!

Destiny bonding with a Shiny Latios has been in my ideas list since 3 years ago, but it got reinforced thanks to Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs and the disclosure of Ash Ketchum's animé arc. Long-story short: Destiny rescues a rare Shiny Latios in her original adventures in Hoenn region as a Trainer. Grateful, this rare Pokémon offered flights in the region anytime she would play the Eon Flute. She nicknamed him Delta due to this reason and others! Later as an adult, she's one of the fewest Rangers capable to use Involiths. Whenever her Fearow's flight power isn't enough, she can summon Delta's help with her Capture Styler!

I usually don't go for alcohol markers due to their strong smell but I was in the mood to do something with these. And considering that it's missing less than a month for the return of Kadabra to the Pokémon Trading Card game I went for an illustration of Destiny travelling with her freshly evolved Pokémon!

It's so rare nowadays to make sketches on paper but I did these a while back just to relax while testing that large duo pencil. I lost some habit too given how there are errors scattered here and there.

In here I mostly tested some fine tip alcohol markers and I concluded two things:

I need to find a less saturated red and green

The Sakura Pigma Green Brush is dead. :')

Here's the first story of 2023! This has got to be the most difficult comic strip up to date I've ever created for Soul(mate)s of Light. Not technically speaking but yes due to the subject itself. This idea has been in my to-do list since early 2021 but I've kept pushing it for later. I partially regret to not have done it earlier, perhaps it would have been emotionally easier to create it. I was far from imagining the scenario we already know from the latest weeks (I'm still not fully recovered from the news that are being so difficult to digest).

Destiny was already aware of Goh's job due to staying most of times at Cerise Laboratory since a baby, but she wasn't quite certain about Ash's work. She now finds this out at her four years old, thanks to her pa's bedtime story!

A recent attempt with drawing Destiny but coloured with alcohol-based markers.

Fine-tips make it harder to create certain effects but they still performed well. There was only one or other hue where I had to use my brush-tip markers.

I got you cake from my Birthday a few weeks ago! It’s chocolate, and hopefully it’s still good enough… (I’m not a fan of sweets, so here is some for them because they’re the best family (save some for the Pokémon) ^^)

Answer 1:

Right now I'm not following other animé series besides Pokémon but the last one I've watched was "Sasaki and Miyano" following a friend recommendation and I liked it a lot, it's really sweet! If we can include movies, I saw Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) in the cinemas in the beginning of the month and I can recommend a watch if you didn't yet!
