Bad Apple Wars Review

{SPOILERS}

This was the very first otome game I played and it sent my heart to the moon. The characters were oh so cute and the stories are wonderful. But after switching from the action-packed game of Danganronpa to an otome, I thought I would get bored lol.

When I started it, I had no idea how to play otome games but I just went with the flow and I went through the Higa route first. I thought it was interesting that he died almost the same way that Paris (that’s what I named the girl lmao) died, but on his side was to save somebody else. I actually cried when he graduated but I was really glad when Paris and Higa saw each other in the real world. There was that extra CG after the epilogue but I was so confused on how to get it.. but I realized I went to Alma first on the map in the beginning hahaha. I figured how to get to each route of each person after studying the map just a lil more (colors are so important man). I remember looking at the soul touch tutorial and screaming when it said that clothes would disappear like wHY. But I guess it fits the mood hehe.

The next person I went through was Satoru. I decided to alternate between the good and bad sides. I just thought of him as a sweet, stubborn cinnamon roll. He was very adorable. I was glad when he finally started to sense the world he was in and what happened to him and such. Just a cute lil bub. I name the girl in this one Atlanta.

Next was Alma. It’s funny when I first heard his voice, I immediately knew who the voice actor was. Sakurai Takahiro voices so many of my favorite characters in anime hehe. I used the default name for the girl in this route because he was the leader. His background story just crushed my heart. I wanted to give him all the hugs :(( but his enDING THO. I LITERALLY SCREAMED. I just found it realllly cute that he was the one who saved Rinka’s life in the real world. And I really love his black hair lmaooo. just the thought of them getting married made my heart go doki doki.

Next, I went through White Masks route. I was really excited to see his story because I knew very little of him. I named the girl London this time. I found his story to be the most tragic. It’s just so sad :(( When he pushed London away because he thought her life would be ruined if he was around made me all the more sad. His soul touches were really difficult and I was frantically searching for the right spots. When I was going through Gas Mask-sensei’s arc I was shaking a whole lot because I was so scared about what was gonna happen. I’m glad that they got to meet each other in the end :)) I was really surprised to see that they saw each other? in the real world first. He saw her walking across the street and was worried about ruining her life. Then the accident happened and I got confused after that scene. That was the last thing he saw right? After running away from the accident, I’m assuming he died somehow.. I’m not to sure how he died...

Last but not least was Shikishima! When I first met up with him I was thinking of what name to give her. I ran out of city names so I just went with Hana since he talked of flowers a lot. I was curious to see his story bc he was more behind the scenes in the other stories. I can’t remember what happened because I skipped a lot of scenes that I already knew of and I was quickly going through dialogue (at the time I also started Collar x Malice and had finished Enomoto’s route. I wanted to finished this game first and then go through Sasazuka’s route). Shikishima’s back story was sad too. I’m assuming he had tuberculosis, since I was thinking of the early 1900′s. I remembered from the Ghibli movie The Wind Rises, that’s what the girl had and she had a hemorrhage, too (is that the correct term???) At the graduation ceremony, I wasn’t sure how they were gonna meet in the end and I kinda felt sad that they didn’t :,( Yeah, she met one of his descendants? but idk I wasn’t really satisfied with the ending. IDK if it’s just me.

Welp there’s my review! I really loved this game and am glad that it’s the first otome that I played. I’d have to say Higa was my favorite route. IDK if it’s because I usually love the first person I interact with or his personality.. probably the latter. I remember like internally screaming when he actually put a shirt on in Naraka’s fashion show lmaoooo I was used to him being shirtless but seeing him in a suit- i could just say i was speechless hAH

OTOGE HANAMI

Hey, folks! I’m here to introduce ( and advertise ) a collaborative project dedicated to otoge! You all can call me Pita (or Lizzy, whichever you prefer), I’m one of the hosts of this project!

WHAT IS OTOGE HANAMI?

Otoge Hanami (Otoge Flower Viewing) is our collaborative project in which both artists and writers with a passion for otoge come together! it's certainly not a paid-project, more so meant to be a digital gallery expressing and celebrating love for otoge!

the theme of Otoge Hanami is, of course, flowers! each game here is assigned a flower, which is to be used as a guiding prompt for the entries. Otoge Hanami is entirely sign-up based, first-come, first-serve, with art piece and one writing piece per character.

WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES?

of course, in order to be able to run this smoothly, we have to have some overarching guidelines!

GENERAL

There will be one drawn and one written submission per character.

From the date you claim a character, and are confirmed for that character, you have three weeks to complete your piece.

If extensions are needed, please let us know, as early as possible. Please don’t rush your work!

Contributors are more than welcome to submit for multiple characters (and series), but only one may be reserved at a time.

This includes submission type – one person cannot claim both art and writing for their chosen character at the same time.

All submissions should be specifically created for this project!

All submissions should be set in their canon verse – while the timeline doesn’t have to be specified things like high school aus won’t be accepted! The idea is, also, that these will be pairing/route based with the heroine of the game and the character chosen, making it a pair.

While we’d advise to be careful of spoilers, some are rather unavoidable. This does make this project inherently not spoiler free, so keep this in mind.

And as another general note, no NSFW submissions will be allowed.

Writers and Artists can coordinate on their pieces for a character, if they choose to.

ART-SPECIFIC

The submission should be digital or scanned art, only. No pictures with a phone or camera for digital, but ones with a clear scanner are fine.

The submitted artwork should be on a 800x1000 canvas, and submitted as a JPG.

The piece should be fully colored.

Images do not require a fully-drawn background, it’s really up to the artist. It can be as simple or as detailed as the artist prefers. However, it’s preferable that the background isn’t just plain white.

Please keep the prompt in mind.

WRITING SPECIFIC

The submission should be no shorter than 500 words, but no longer than 2000 words. We know it’s not easy to write a lot for some people, nor is it easy to trim down for others, dependent on the writing style. That’s why we decided upon such a range.

The piece should be, preferably, in the third-person point-of-view, with a focus on the character chosen.

Try your best when it comes to grammar and spelling. We’re here to beta-read for you, if you need a fresh pair of eyes.

Going back to the note about rushing in the general section, but really rushing it tends to effect characterization – which we’d love to stay true to!

Again, please be mindful of the prompt at hand.

Young Shinsei High AU

This is an au for the older men in the yandere heaven series. Since it's canon they all of them attended the same high school when they were younger I made an AU on what they were like so please enjoy and tell me any other ideas you may have! (*´ω｀*)

General Headcanons

Hajime and Takaaki started out as friends when we're the only kids in class with glasses

As they went to high school Satoru joined the group

Takeru was adopted to the group by Hajime after realizing he had reading glasses cause that counts right?

Hajime started the joke calling their group "glass gang" until it became a thing

They mostly hang out during lunch due to the boys having busy schedules but they're always there for each other when needed

Hajime

"Yo yo yo Y/n! Looking sleepy as usual I see~ well don't worry I'll warn you if the teacher looks"

Oldest of the group making him the leader

Very outgoing and extroverted which made him popular with teachers and students

Man's is ripped since he plays in his high school basketball team

Of course when he first met you he only thought of you as a friend he talks to

But after a while he gets more attached and starts walking you to classes, buying you lunch, whatever it takes to talk with you

Any act of kindness you do feels like a blessing for this man, you could lend him a pencil and he'll put it on display

Hes somewhat delusional since doesn't even realize what he's doing can be creepy he just thinks it's his job as your "boyfriend" to watch over you

Sure you've both never confesed but the way you laugh at his flirty remarks says enough

He really doesn't mind you talking to few people at first after all he does the same but he will ask questions

"Who is that guy you talked to earlier before lunch? Oh, I was just curious! sorry if I sounded a bit nosey haha"

Hajime likes showing public displays of affection so he'll hold your hand or put his arm around you to show those around that your "taken"

If he starts seeing someone getting too close he'll probably have to give your little friend passive-aggressive warnings

Hajime is not one to always resort to violence but it doesn't mean he's afraid to start after school fights if he sees someone trying to get too close to you for your "protection"

"I'm sorry...I know I shouldn't fight but I had to... why? Don't worry about it just know that I'll always be here for you y/n"

Takaaki

"Ah good morning y/n, how have you been doing today?"

Same age as Hajime but younger by a month

Unlike his best friend, Hajime, Takaaki is more shy and distant from others but still holds a good reputation for his grades

Extremely intelligent but often busy since he's studying to become a doctor for his parents

Meeting you was pretty casual, you asked for help on an assignment which he kindly helped you out with

He tries to talk to you more often by asking if you need any help with any assignments since he's not good at starting conversations but luckily you could see that

As you get to know him better he gets more comfortable with expressing himself and gets a bit more clingy

Any sort of compliment or positive affirmations from you does tug his heartstrings. He doesn't get them often, besides from Hajime, even though he's a good student so it makes him feel appreciated

Whenever Takaaki gets jealous he won't show or tell much. However he is quick to act on it attempting to distract you from others. Failure could make him more distressed and panicky

"Why do you hang around them so much y/n? Are they closer to you than I am?"

Takaaki isn't big on public affection. He perfers to look prefesional outside. He perfers privacy where you could kiss, cuddle, and give positive affirmations to each other

Out of all the boys he's less likely to take any physical action afterall he hates the thought of others especially you being disspaointed in his actions. Hes aware what hes doing is wrong but you are just too important to sweep aside

Instead, he'd isolate you from the rest by destroying the reputation of others until you can only depend on him for anything

"Please promise me you'll stay away from those other boys y/n... I don't want them to hurt you..."

Satoru

"...Goodmorning y/n..."

2nd year who just trying to get done with school

Rarely interacts or participates in any activities. He rather spends most of his time alone or with his small group of friends

A bit of a wallflower so it's Hajime's responsibility to get him to participate in conversations

Honeslty If it wasnt for Hajime constaly pushing him to greet you you never wouldve known him, You never exactly got to befriend him but you did have a small talk from time to time.

As time passes, he'll start being more forward with you. He'll ask you to do things with him and follow you around between classes

The attention you give him is all he wanted. He's a quiet person and blends in with others so any type of attention you gave him means everything to him

Although Satoru rarely shows any emotion in public, doesn't mean it's the same on the inside. Every boy that talks or even looks at you is put on a list of who to break in half

"...is he bothering you?..."

Like Takaaki, Satoru prefers showing displays of affection in private but there are times where he'll do so in public if he feels someone is looking. He prefers more physical affection like cuddling and quality time spent with you.

If he sees y/n do things that aren't deemed acceptable, he'd give them a warning. He's normally patient but minor inconveniences and misunderstandings when it comes to you can make him snap so easily

Y/n not listening can result in Satoru manipulating them, harming them and others for their "well being" and even getting kidnapped by him

Out of all the boys, he's most likely to kidnap you and is particularly the most dangerous out of the bunch when angered

"...Why do you make me do these things to you?... no matter you still look beautiful... with or without the bruises on your skin..."

Takeru

"y/n you're here! It's about time I was getting bored y'know"

Youngest out of the three boys being in freshman year

Similar looks and behavior to his son as a young teen but being a bit more independent and mature for his age

A bit of a social butterfly and good at adapting to other people

You sat by him in class so obviously, there would come a point in time where you would have to talk to him. At first, he was pretty shy but he quickly got more social and comfortable after getting introduced to each other

Unlike the other boys, Takeru can interact without showing any sign of clinginess or impatience over time even though he may feel that way at times

Cherishes anytime he gets to spend with you. Anywhere you two go whether it's in or outside of school makes him excited

Takeru does get jealous easily and it shows. Pointing it out or talking about it can leave him flustered

"Man, why do you have to pay attention to those other guys hmm? Hey, I'm not jealous!!"

Enjoys showing affection in public and in private. Showing it can vary from giving gifts to just spending quality time together

Even though he claims your his best friend he actually really loves you but the thought of you rejecting him troubles him

Takeru would rather isolate you from the rest of your friends so he'd most likely result to manipulating you to keep away from others since "best friends should never betray each other"

Worst case scenario he'd kidnap you and lock up in his room to show the work and care he'd put through to take you "home"

"We're finally alone together so...Why aren't you happy y/n? Close friends should always be happy when they are together yes?"

My Fall 2020 Otome Backlog

Back in May, I got this little bit of a wild streak in trying to write up my backlogs, but in a smaller, more digestible way. For example, instead of overwhelming myself with extremely lofty goals of these massive lists of games and routes I want to play, I made a list of games and routes that I could feasibly complete in a matter of four months (through to the beginning of fall). I took into consideration that since it was summer (and also that I’m home with my daughter in the middle of a pandemic), that I should be able to accomplish it.

I didn’t complete the entire backlog that I had set aside, and that’s okay with me. I found that it was nice to have a directive instead of trying to blindly decide on my next route. Additionally, I feel like following the goals that I had written down in my last backlog blog really helped me with my focus and quite possibly allowed me to finish even more routes than I would have had I not written them down. It may or may not be really the case, but I feel it is. I think that this is something that I’ll want to continue to do seasonally to help me with tackling the monster that is my otome backlogs.

I like to listen fully to the voice acting, so it does take me longer than usual to push through a console route with voice acting than it would take me to play a game with no voice acting. Also, I’ve learned that I have difficulty playing PC games because of the personal setting aspect. I’ve recently set up my office due to starting school again and have found playing games in my office is more conducive to playing PC games in general.

These are the games and routes that I transferred over to my fall backlogs that I never got around to during the summer. The only ones I omitted were 707, Jumin Han, and the Obey Me Main Route. I’ve found that Mystic Messenger isn’t one of those games that you can play in one go, at least for me personally. Also, I don’t have much motivation to play them because I wasn’t too particularly impressed or touched by Zen or Jaehee’s routes. Additionally, of all of the joseimuke games I play, I’m the least interested in Obey Me’s story line than Mr. Love or A3! So that particular game’s plot is on the backburner for me as well.

For this section, I'll be talking about the new games and routes that I'd like to play and complete by the end of fall (December 20th). Each subsection within this category has a small exposition as to why I'm adding this to my pretty full list of games to play during the autumn season.

I really, really, really love both of these games. I feel like they both need more love, especially Ayakoi. Neither are strongly romantic, if at all, and I think that's a lot of the reason why they don't get as much play as some other games. I base this off of their sales numbers compared to games such as Mr. Love: Queen's Choice and Obey Me, which have made an explosive amount of money.

I have this tendency that if I don't need to read it immediately, I won't. And such is the case with both of these games. I have only played three routes on Ayakoi and am now behind on the new Act 2 episodes for A3!. However, my goal for this season is to simply complete the event stories that I haven't touched yet. That's eleven for Ayakoi and 8 for A3!. At least with A3!, I'm afforded the time to catch up since they are not doing events outside of the gachas (which I'm not counting here) and reading promotion for the Act 2 Episodes. I'm not too far behind, though, because I actually have been acting against character and making the effort to read the event stories as they come out.

I've been playing Ciagram games pretty chill for the past few months. I started Cinderella's Happy End when it first came out with the LOG app ("Love Stories and Otome Games for Girls) back in May. It's a simple game that doesn't require checkpoints or stat-raising. No avatars. Just 5 tickets a day, with the potential to gain an extra 2 tickets by viewing ads. I'm not exactly sure why I gravitated so much to this game. I think that maybe I needed a slice-of-life game in my routine. By now, I've completed the three other routes, and Kyosuke is the very last one I have to complete.

As I've mentioned before, I've been playing Ciagram games really chill. In the past, you would've probably seen me playing 5+ of their games at a time. Now, though, I just don't want to do it. I think it's getting more stressful in my old age. 😝At any rate, with my full completion of Cinderella's Happy End coming up soon, I set my sights on Chocolate Temptation next.

There are a few reasons as to why this particular game as opposed to any. For the past couple of years, if I had some time, I'd play the ads on a lot of the Ciagram apps. I kept accruing story tickets, and back then, the tickets didn't expire. Now that it is on the LOG app, I've transferred those tickets as well as tickets to a couple of other games to the app, and now I'm sitting on 650+ free tickets. I need to use them by March 2021, so both Chocolate Temptation and Nightmare Harem are moved to the top of my list of Ciagram games to play.

I could still also go for more slice-of-life otome. Seriously, I feel like there is a distinct lack of it in the past couple of years. And the art for Chocolate Temptation is among the more pleasing than many other Ciagram games.

I've been steadily playing through the routes that I haven't played on Wizardess Heart. It's not one of my favorite games, but I'm in such dire need for SWD content since they've officially decided to stop updating their still standing games with new content. 😭😭😭 Despite how they have perceptively done us otome players wrong by removing the bulk of their content from mobile game stores, I still have a soft place in my heart for them and will still be a champion for their content.

Guy's route is the last route that I have to play in the Day Class series, excluding all of the sequels that they did. I haven't yet decided whether I want to move forward this fall with the remainder of the Night Class routes I have yet to play. I'll probably take a break until the winter to start back up with the 11 remaining routes I have for Night Class. 😪

I'm already exhausted thinking about it.

My completionist heart wants me to finish playing all of the routes available in SWD's The Niflheim. I played most of the routes on the standalone before it shut down back in March. I have extra diamonds on my alternate Story Jar account, so I wasn't in a rush to finish JJ and Philippe's route. Of all of the routes, I had the least interest in theirs, so I stopped where I did for a break. I have Jean listed because he's the canon, but I already played his route on the standalone; he's just there because it feels like Niflheim Academy follows as if he were to be the canon for that AU story as well.

I'm pretty excited about playing these two indie PC titles, Ebon Light and Seduce Me: the Otome. Seduce Me has long been on my to-play list, and I've seen a lot of hype about Ebon Light. Apparently, on the Otome reddit page, it's their indie game of 2019. Tbh, even given the new circumstances of my PC habits, I probably wouldn't have chosen these games as my first games to play on PC, that other PC games held priority. I'm very thankful to the OA Book Club for giving me the push to prioritize these over other games.

I first heard about Piofiore when it first came out for the PS Vita from a friend of me. She effectively built up some hype, but not too much because at the time, I didn't know that it would get localized. I was super psyched when Aksys made the announcement that they would localize Piofiore. I love the mafia-theme as well as the time setting, regardless of whether is is the Taisho Era or the Roaring Twenties. Would the Roaring Twenties apply outside of the US? Idk, but I still romanticize that time period and really like it.

The only reason why Piofiore holds greater precedence on my backlog than Café Enchanté though, is just because of the release dates. Had Café Enchanté released earlier than Piofiore, I would have had that on my to-play list sooner than later. I'm hyped for both games. Realistically, I don't see myself starting Café Enchanté until near the end of the year, and that's me being ambitious. Despite that, I've still preordered both games.

This is another game that would've probably taken me forever to play had it not been for the OA Book Club. We've progressed through two routes, and due to the reading schedule for the remainder of the game, we'll be able to finish right before the long-awaited fan disk, Evermore, releases at the end of November.

While I'm not dying over Cinderella Phenomenon, I'm floored by the amount of work that went into it. And for the developer to offer such a high quality game for free is astounding. The story is very creative and well-paced. I'm not sure if I'll be playing Evermore shortly after; I suppose that depends on how I feel when I completely finish the game.

For the past year and a half, maybe two years? I've been working my way through the routes on SLBP. I'm sitting at seven routes remaining that I have not completed at least one ending (excluding Act 2 and Unification). I was a little conflicted about who I should play in this backlog round, but a dear friend suggested I play Saizo for a trope that I love. And she's been wanting me to play Shingen for a long time because he's her best boy. She may not tell me that she wants me to play him when I make my decisions, but I know that she dies a little inside when I tell her the next route that I'm playing.

...But then, Kojuro's Act 2 Splendor was just announced. 😬 Even though I'm not a huge fan of avatars, there's something about an early completion challenge that brings out the event loving trash that I am.

Did you know that you can still access some of the Shall We Date? premium games that were taken off of the mobile stores back in March? 👀👀👀 As long as you still have the app on your devices, you can still access the content. This applies only towards the premium games that you had to pay for. The free to play games went offline almost immediately. RIP Modern Cinderella, I'll never forget you. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I was able to save these games by recording them on a high speed, but since they're still currently available to access for me, I'd like to go back to record and read them with the sound. This applies to Castle Break and Guilty Alice.

For My Sweet Prince and Ninja Love, I still had them on my iPad and hadn't updated the thing in years so that I could retain the stories. It's time that I finally complete these games so that I could bring my iPad to the 2020s.

If you know me, this one is kind of no-brainer. I usually play IkéSen and IkéVamp routes completely within three days of release, dependent on the story boosting times in the concurrent collection events that they do. Theodorus bears mentioning simply because his route is coming out soon, like a week from when I post this blog.

I will say, when IkéVamp first released in Japan, Theo was the very first I had my eye on. His character design is top notch and hits all of my favorite aesthetics when it comes to 2D boyfriends. However, as time passed, I kind of lost interest in him because of his penchant of calling the MC a dog in Dutch and his sadistic ways. I'm generally not a fan of sadists or LI that treat MCs as an animal. I am hoping, though, that he proves me wrong and I go back to thirsting for him like I did when the game first released. Come ask me again in a week.

This year, I played every route on Amnesia except Shin, whom I completed back in 2018. My friend and I played this together, and if it weren't for her, I probably wouldn't have picked it back up again, or at least any time soon. So I have her to thank because it quickly became one of my favorite games that I played this year. We're wrapping up our playthrough of the game with Ukyo, who you can only play once you've completed all other routes. Right now, I'm on Day 6, and I'm still wondering what the hell is going on. I'm looking forward to a wild ride, just like the rest of this game was. Since I played Shin so long ago, I might even replay him.

Bushiroad has recently announced that a new anime series based on the Cardfight!! Vanguard card game will be debuting on television on May 5 in Japan. A side spin-off series is also currently in the works based on the Bermuda Triangles. The company also revealed that a smartphone game titled, “Cardfight!! Vanguard Zero,” is in development.

The new series will premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11 on May 5. THe series will later premiere on TV Aichi on May 6 and on tvk on May 9. The new series will also stream on AbemaTV. The series will also be released on Crunchyroll and the official Cardfight!! Vanguard Youtube channel with English subtitles soon after the original broadcasts. The English dubbed episodes will premiere at another date.

The spin-off anime series will premiere in Winter 2019, and will air alongside the new series.

The official Cardfight!! Vanguard Youtube channel has also updated with a new promotional video for the new series. The preview features the new anime’s theme song titled, “Legendary,” which is performed by Roselia. The ending theme titled, “Gift from The Fight!!,” will be performed by Tsubasa Yonaga (Aichi Sendou) and Takuya Satō (Toshiki Kai).

Bushiroad provided a synopsis for the new series.

The new season embarks on a new story with Aichi and Kai returning to take up the helm as main protagonists. The audience will also find many beloved characters such as Misaki Tokura, Kamui Katsuragi and Ren Suzugamori appearing in this season.
