This week:
In the heart of the ‘Swinging Sixties’, a British rock band called SAVOY BROWN was born and almost immediately began to have a profound impact with their pioneering blues-rock sound. Energetic Blues has always been Savoy Brown’s calling card.
In fact, Blues Rock became the catch-all phrase in the late 1960s to describe the band’s music along with that of contemporaries including Cream, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimi Hendrix.
The band’s discography is a testament to their enduring influence. Albums like "Shake Down," "Blue Matter," and "Street Corner Talking" showcased the band's exceptional song writing and instrumentals.
Through the 60s, 70s and 80’s songs such as “I’m Tired”, “Train to Nowhere”, “Tell Mama” and “Lay Back In The Arms Of Someone” became Hot 100 entries.
Today the band continues with bassist PAT DESALVO and drummer GARNETT GRIMM.

Street Corner Talking by Savoy Brown was released in 1971. It was their 7th release and first without 3 key members who split to form Foghat. Kim Simmonds recruited some new players and they with off to the races with a fresh new sound. “Tell Mama,” is on this bad boy.

SAVOY BROWN A Step Further. Rare 1969 UK first press 6-track stereo vinyl LP on the blue & silver unboxed Decca logo label with 1-W matrixes, comprises a studio side and a live side recorded on 12/05/69 in Edmonton, London; front laminated picture sleeve with die-cut mono/stereo identifier on the back and pinched spine, printed by Clout & Baker, includes a blue bordered poly-lined company inner. The sleeve displays just a little light general wear with just a little light age discolouration to the no laminated back. The labels remain very clean with a few light spindle marks, whilst the vinyl remains excellent with just a few light cosmetic surface marks. From a 2004 review on Amazon .com: Wire Fire is one of the best titles ever used for a Savoy Brown album, and since it comes from guitarist Kim Simmonds admitted dry period (in other words, his Muse was not amused), one of the hardest to find at a decent price. Nevertheless, although it will never compare to such classics as Raw Sienna or even Jack The Toad, it is still a very good effort. On London Records - PS 659.
