TTEOTM nominated in the 2023 Seoul Drama Awards!

TTEOTM is nominated in the International Series category (25+ episodes), alongside some great competition from China: A Dream of Splendor, Meet Yourself (both starring Liu Yifei), and The Story of Xingfu (with Zhao Liying).

The jury seems to have historically preferenced more mature and grounded dramas, so quite delighted to see TTEOTM in the mix!

Perhaps someone from Korea can tell us more. Here are some facts based on some quick research:

Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) is an annual award ceremony based in Seoul, South Korea which honors excellence in television drama internationally. It's jointly organized/sponsored by the Korean government and channels KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, CBS.

Platforms and production companies are invited to submit entries (see full list here - there really was some strong competition!) The 24 nominees above were chosen from 344 entries this year!

Judging is done by a panel of TV executives, producers, journalists/critics, academics, actors and creatives, mostly Korean with a few internationals. You can see the 2022 jury here.

Last night, my father and I were lucky enough to see and meet the Philadelphia Eagles’ legendary play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese at Lower Merion High School for Main Line School Night. This will go down as one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. We began the night by singing and rooting the Eagles’ Fight song. He absolutely loved it. He’s about to enter his 47th season as the voice of the Birds. He talked about his early life, how he got the job, and what’s he’s been doing since. He discussed the good people and the not-so-good people he worked with, including Dick Vermeil and Bill Campbell. He took a moment to acknowledge late legendary Phillies announcer Harry Kalas and Chris Wheeler not contacting each other for 10 years at the time of Kalas’ death. Also, the most heartbreaking and exciting moments in franchise history, including the controversial Holding call that cost us Super Bowl LVII, the Miracle at the Meadowlands and Super Bowl LII. For the latter, the call for the fans who waited so long and so patiently for: “The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions! Eagles fans everywhere, this is for you! Let the celebration begin!” He loves watching the Phillies and the 76ers as long as the Sixers are in the playoffs. He roots for them, too. When he finished talking, I raised my hand and was handed a 🎤 by one of the ladies associated with MLSN and asked him if he knew fellow Philadelphia sportscasting legend Gene Hart, the voice of the Flyers. Before that, I complimented him for still going and being such an inspiration. I told him that I’ve been a fan of commentary. He was so kind in telling me the story of how Gene used to be an elementary school teacher prior to becoming a broadcaster. They both used to go out to dinner with a friend of theirs in Jersey. And get this: Gene Hart’s wife Sarah Detwiler used to ride Atlantic City’s Diving Horse at the Steel Pier Diving Horses attraction.🏇 After the Q&A was over, I lined up with my dad and we got our photo taken with Merrill. He signed his autograph on my Eagles cap, and it’s hanging in my bedroom. Hopefully, we’ll come back next year and win SB LVIII. It was 4th and goal near the end of the second quarter in Super Bowl LII when the Philadelphia Eagles dialed up a trick play featuring RB Corey Clement, TE Trey Burton and QB Nick Foles. On the play, Foles moved up behind his offensive line and the ball was directly snapped to Clement who pitched the ball to Burton who then threw the ball to a wide open Foles. Foles scored the touchdown and became the first player in NFL history to both throw and catch a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl.

The Eagles would defeat the Patriots 41-33 and the play became known as the Philly Special or 'Philly Philly.'

I think the big thing is, don't be afraid to fail. In our society today, Instagram and Twitter is the highlight reel. When you are having a rough day you think you are failing. But failure is a part of life. It’s about building character and growing. Without failure who would you be? I wouldn’t be up here if I didn’t fall thousands of times and make mistakes I know when people speak and are sharing their weaknesses, I’m listening, because I can resonate. I’m not perfect. I’m not Superman. We might be in the NFL, we might have won the Super Bowl, but we still have our daily struggles. When you look at a struggle in your life you (should) look at it as an opportunity in your life for your character to grow. If something is going on and you are struggling, embrace it. You are growing.
